For those who know me and see me barely writing this, YES, it is late! ;) We went to San Antonio with a large group of friends and we try to plan events and whatnot. We had just finished a ghost tour and someone mentioned that some of our friends were meeting at this place. I am 99% it was impromptu. The place was amazing and gave us this section. We filled up all the seats and the little love tunnel or whatever that end one was. I will say, being the social butterfly that I am, I was visiting with everyone and EVERYONE was enjoyng themselves. What is it about a tiki place that makes everyone so happy. You just cannnot be sad at a tiki place. I was happy that one of our firends found this plce and truly enjoyed myself. I mean we love a themed bar - the drinks are all very thematic and fun, some even come work a fire show. BUT, listen this place was SO hard to find coming off street level. And it was also very hot/muggy inside. Thank god we had a tower fan near our table that we faced towards us. Not sure I'd ever return unless I was really wanting to go for a "themed" night. read more

After doing the River Walk cruise and it was a great way to wind down. I ordered the Missionary Downfall. The drink was smooth, tropical, and well balanced without being overly sweet. I love the crushed ice that they use. Easy to sip and refreshing, especially after being out on the water. The atmosphere fit the tiki theme perfectly and felt relaxed without being over the top. Service was friendly and the location right on the River Walk made it an easy stop. A fun place to grab a drink and take in the vibe after a cruise or a long walk along the river. read more

What a fun hidden gem tucked away right on the Riverwalk! We had a weekend gig out here and thought the space was so cute that we decided to hang for a bit after. The drinks were STRONG (exactly how I like em) and the food was so tasty! And every single employee we interacted with? Beautiful and so so nice and accommodating!! We were barhopping along the Riverwalk and came into this tiki oasis. Set up like a Tiki speakeasy. This location is small, but comes with a lot of theming and a cute tropical vibe. There is very limited seating, but we were fortunate enough to be able to grab a spot outside overlooking the river walk. I will say inside definitely has a smell to it. Perhaps the drains haven't been cleaned as much as they need - but a smell lingers in the air. I had the Saint Lucius fashioned and it was OK. My husband got the eight year Appleton's rum with some Coke and it basically tasted like water. So the quality of the drinks is questionable. read more

Hugman's is probably one of my go to spots when I'm bar hopping downtown or have out of town friends to show around. Such a cute little tiki bar that immediately takes you to another place when you walk in. It's right on the riverwalk and has seating inside and outside available. They have the cutest tiki drinks and are all hand crafted and made to order. Most come in picture worthy tiki cups and I've even ordered one that came with fire! It's worth noting that the bathrooms are always clean and beautiful decorated. Definitely a regular in my rotation! read more

This is the cutest little Tiki Bar tucked into the corner of E Commerce on the river walk. It really does feel like a little escape away from it all. We planned on checking this place out after dinner at Tokyo cowboy but apparently we needed reservations so had the chance to try this place first. Everyone from the hostess to the servers were very friendly. We were waited on quickly and had our drinks before you knew it. I had the Naughtical By Nature. Vodka, Blue Curacao, Pamplemousse, Lemon juice, Hugman's Orgeat. I selected it in part because of the name and because I wanted something with vodka. It was really good but wish I got what my husband had. He had the Texas Sun. Bourbon, White Rum, Dry Curacao, Allspice, Cinnamon, Absinthe, Lemon juice. I had a sip and was in heaven. It was so good. I can't wait to go back and spend more time here and try some of the food too. read more

The menu features classic and unique rum-based cocktails made with fresh juices that are served in kitschy glassware. Orgeat is made in house, which makes their Mai Tai extra special. We reserved a table on the patio for the Day of the Dead River Parade. The drinks were super fun ... the unique mugs and glasses. The combo of liquors was spot on. Loved the old fashion with rum. The Holy Goof is a crazy blend of flavors that worked so well together ... aramo, coconut, pineapple, matcha, oat milk! I brought my friend to San Antonio for her birthday, and when she saw this place, she said she wanted a birthday drink there. Even though it was a lovely day outside, we sat inside, and the ambiance couldn't be beat. I loved the decor and kitschy cups. The bartender was super friendly, coming over to sit with us and chat while we figured out what to order, and he even gave us both free shots for my friend's birthday. (In a super cute skull shot glass, of course!) I had a Texas Sun, which to my delight came with a flaming pineapple. My friend's Jungle Pajaro came in an adorably kitschy cup, too. We also split some fries, which were delicious and the portion size good. This is a fun little hangout that is different than the rest of the Riverwalk. I'd definitely go back! read more

I love tiki bars so I was really excited to finally get to try out Hugman's Oasis. The atmosphere and cocktails did not disappoint. If you are expecting a chain tourist trap, you will be pleasantly surprised because Hugman's is neither of those things. Service was slow. We were seated at the least desirable spot - right next to the hostess stand (when it was not busy). Finally, the drinks were both small and bitter, like an underfed Zennial. Both the pina colada and daiquiri left a bad aftertaste. As great as they could be with this location and related businesses, it's terrible here. Walked up around 6 on Saturday with a group of 7. Immediately the waitress worked her magic and got us a spot outside. Decor was highly thought about in this place! Lightening , wall decor, music, and drink presentation all very much for the theme. The staff were so friendly and so were other tables sitting near us. We were the first people there, so we got to sit at the bar and watch our drinks being made. They have about 15 or so different specialty tiki drinks. Each one comes in a particular piece of glassware. I don't know how the bartender keeps them straight. He was constantly pouring different things into a shaker. Then he would shake it and pour it into the glass that was already filled with crushed ice. One of the drinks even had a smoking cinnamon stick. My drink was really good. It was the Three Dots and a Dash. It came in a barrel and was decorated with a skull toothpick that had three cherries and a piece of pineapple to represent the dots and dash. It was super strong! I was ready to risk it all and go for another drink, but it had gotten packed inside the bar. We could tell the bartender was stressing. They really need two for times like that. My wife spends the night at my son's house in New Braunfels every Thursday to give them a date night. Evidently, this is where they always go. I can certainly see why!

Drinks were AMAZING! Bartender Rob made the best Negroni I've ever had. I asked him to use whatever gin he thought best--result was an artistic smooooooth full-bodied drink. Told him when I was done I'd lick the glass if it wasn't considered so uncouth for a 'mature' lady like myself to do so Hubby's Buffalo Trace bourbon old fashioned was also outstanding. The seafood platter had something in it that was breading with shell inside, but no meat of any kind. We couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be. The shrimp was good and the fish was good but those other things... We'll always love the drinks, the long wooden bar, and the ambiance at the Esquire Tavern, but we'll eat somewhere else and come here for before or after dinner drinks.
