Private event. Drinks were delish and the bar staff super pleasant even with a large crowd. The view was also lovely!!!

I was extremely nervous about getting this salmon but the taste made al of that go away. It was well seasoned, not dry, and topped with a nice creamy sauce. The decor inside is beautiful and outside looks over a nice view of the city.

Great service, drinks and food portions were perfect! Went for brunch and had a great experience on rooftop bar. The expresso martini is made with the BEST cafe Bustelo brand making them hit the spot!

I had brunch with a friend on a Saturday morning and it was so beautiful being up there. The food was good and drinks delicious. Service was excellent the waitress came to check on us often.

1Watson is such a great gem! This rooftop establishment provides great views of the city. Even when it's cold they have a nice fire pit that keeps you warm. During my visit it was 49 degrees and I could not tell it was that cold when next to the fire pit. The drinks were good! I highly recommend the lavender lemonade (made with Tito's). This drink was tasty and very refreshing. I absolutely LOVE the music/playlist. Good 90's/early 200's playlist. I would definitely be a regular at 1Watson if I lived in San Antonio!

They say "Three times is a charm" Not for this staff and operation. All three visits have been SUPER! From the checkin, to the bartenders, and management. Oh Chef, for the love of God keep the new chicken sandwich on the menu! A special place and only a 5 minute walk for us. Salud 1Watson for be consistently SUPER! PS some folks bang on prices. We have no issues with they create a memory!

This place was phenomenal! From the food, to the views to the drinks, I wish I could go back again. I was here for dinner as a walking and craving brisket. Tara my server was amazing, she recommended the brisket nachos and for drinks I had the berry smash with tequila. The berry in it gave it a nice crunchiness. The weather was perfect, I caught the beautiful sunset and I was able to see the riverwalk, the downtown, and other parts of San Antonio.

The views were stunning and the drinks are delicious. The Desert Bloom gin drink was absolutely mind blowing. It is such a refreshing drink, that I ended up having a little too many of them!

Absolutely stunning experience. The atmosphere alone is worth the visit--sunset views overlooking the city paired with beautifully crafted cocktails made for a perfect evening. The drinks were not only visually gorgeous but expertly balanced and refreshing. Every detail felt intentional, from the presentation to the relaxed yet upscale vibe. This is the kind of place you come to unwind, linger, and soak it all in. Highly recommend for date night or a special night out.

Service was great, we got drinks and an appetizer. Drinks were all pretty good and the chips and queso were too. Over all great experience for rooftop bars

Had a bunch of colleagues fly in for a work meeting so thought this would be fun as the outdoor rooftop patio has spectacular views of the city and the weather is just perfect before the summer heat kicks in. There is an elevator that takes you from the street directly to the rooftop land we were seated right away with a table that offers great views of the city!! Great drink list - I ordered the Soledad Spritz - it was good but seriously the largest cocktail ever! Could not finish it though it was very good and refreshing! We began with appetizers - I thought those were generally a bust as we had chips / salsa / queso which was kinda mediocre! Ordered the chili and herb crusted salmon as a main course and that was really good - loved the topping and the salmon was cooked perfectly! Service was fantastic throughout the night and this is a great place to grab a drink with fantastic views.

SHANA SAYS: The AC Hotel San Antonio Riverwalk has a gorgeous rooftop bar/restaurant called 1Watson that we were excited to try during our recent stay. Reviews we checked ahead of time praised the food and cocktails but were mixed on the service. That matched our experience. I got the vegan fajita tacos, he got the brisket tacos. We each had a couple of cocktails. Everything about the food and beverages was superb! Really top notch. The vibe was also our style: low lighting, comfy seating, unbeatable views. Where the whole experience fell short was the truly indifferent service. Let me be clear, the hostess we interacted with when we arrived was very attentive and helpful. Our server was slow and indifferent. We weren't in a rush, which was helpful. We had been warned about the possibility of slow and inattentive service by previous reviewers. So it wasn't a shock. But is was a shame, because this place would otherwise have been perfect. I know I would have wanted to dine there more than once during our stay, but after that first time, there was just no going back. My Take: I share most of the same thoughts as my wife. You step outside the hotel to another door that leads to an elevator that goes right to the entrance and host stand. As stated the hostess was great both when we arrived and when we left. There was lots of room and the seats were comfy, like little couches. There was outside seating but we stayed inside to eat and drink. We were able to get our first drink order in and an appetizer then nothing for a long time. We didn't catch a glimpse of our server again until we were almost done with our drinks and then it was them rushing by and asking if everything was ok but not even pretending to slow down for an answer. Then nothing again. It wasn't busy, I don't know what the waitstaff is doing, I saw it happen with other tables, the one next to ours the waiter came over, took the order and then at some point runners brought the food, the waiter didn't show up again until they were mostly done and did the same quick rush by. We finally got ours to stop and take our order. We didn't yell or snap or fingers just managed to get her to stop on her next pass by. She seemed annoyed and put out, not friendly at all. Shana ordered another drink and we got our food ordered. The food didn't take that long but the drink was slow coming. The food was great and the drinks were fantastic. I managed to order another one no matter how hard they tried to avoid us ordering anything. I will say the bartenders looked like they were on top of things and the people at the bar didn't seem to have to wait. The whole experience was soured by our waitstaff. I really couldn't figure out what was going on or where everyone went between times. Its like they all took breaks after the first order. As Shana pointed out it caused us not to return even for drinks. Lucky for us there was great food all around with amazing service.

We went for our anniversary dinner because we wanted something special and nice without that stuffy feel some nice restaurants give and 1 Watson was perfect. It is an expensive restaurant and when I got my tacos I was worried it wouldn't be enough food but they were stuffed with the juiciest brisket and they have a sauce on them that was citrusy and delicious! But the atmosphere of the restaurant would bring me back often. These are the types of places I love visiting in San Antonio.

On that occasion, the…read morevenue was exceptionally busy, and the sole bartender on duty informed us he was covering for an absent colleague. Despite the staff shortage, we placed a significant order for at least ten drinks. My husband had made a reservation for 6:00 PM. However, at approximately 7:30 PM, after we had already placed our drink order, a staff member informed my husband that our table reservation was only valid for two hours. Concerned about the impending two-hour limit and the delay in receiving our drinks, which had still not arrived by 7:45 PM, we inquired with our bartender about potentially canceling our order. He reassured us, stating that other tables were available should additional patrons arrive. Our subsequent visit, on Saturday, July 25, 2026, was solely with my husband. We arrived punctually, approximately five minutes before our 7:30 PM reservation. A female bartender directed us to a small, two-person table, despite the presence of two larger, seemingly more comfortable, unoccupied tables nearby. While initially assuming these larger tables might be reserved for a bigger party, the selection felt somewhat restrictive given the availability. Our seating unfortunately placed us adjacent to another patron who was using an additional chair to prop up her footwear, which contributed to an unpleasant atmosphere. The bartender then approached our table and asked if it was our first time, to which we replied it was not. She then asked if we knew what we wanted to order. We requested a brief moment to review the menu. However, we then waited for approximately fifteen minutes for her to return. Eventually, my husband had to actively call her over to place our order. Our initial drinks arrived after another ten to fifteen minutes. Subsequently, my husband attempted to catch the bartender's attention to order another round and request water. However, she was engaged in a lengthy conversation, estimated at ten minutes, with the neighboring patron and proceeded to walk past our table without acknowledging us. This extended period of being overlooked led to considerable frustration for my husband, who then felt compelled to approach the main bar directly to place our order and obtain water from a different bartender. It was only after this that the initial female bartender finally approached our table, asking if we needed anything. Considering the relatively small size of the establishment and the fact that there were only three occupied tables at the time, the level of inattentive and delayed service was particularly disappointing and, frankly, perplexing.

She quickly sprayed the table, wiped it down, and flopped the food around with the rag instead of actually cleaning it. She didn't bother to pick up or sweep the food and crumbs off the floor either. I had already ordered food and drinks for my party, expecting the table would be cleaned quickly. We ordered two alcoholic drinks and two soda-based drinks, but the sodas were flat. Drinks were AMAZING! Bartender Rob made the best Negroni I've ever had. I asked him to use whatever gin he thought best--result was an artistic smooooooth full-bodied drink. Told him when I was done I'd lick the glass if it wasn't considered so uncouth for a 'mature' lady like myself to do so Hubby's Buffalo Trace bourbon old fashioned was also outstanding. Rob was the bartender last night who did such a great job, and his work was even better tonight. We highly recommend The EsquireTavern for excellent cocktails. We love the long wood bar and high copper ceiling upstairs, but love the intimate speakeasy atmosphere downstairs even more. We'll definitely be back every time we're in San Antonio! First review, Friday night: Drinks were great (Manhattan and Bourbon Old Fashioned). REAL drinks, no complaints at all about those. And the bartenders were very friendly and helpful. Those aspects of the Esquire get 5+ stars from us. But the appetizers were not good, close to inedible. It was about 8:30pm or so, so maybe they were getting ready to close out the kitchen but the chalupitas with chicken tasted like rubber, and no flavor at all. The seafood platter had something in it that was breading with shell inside, but no meat of any kind. We couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be. The shrimp was good and the fish was good but those other things... We'll always love the drinks, the long wooden bar, and the ambiance at the Esquire Tavern, but we'll eat somewhere else and come here for before or after dinner drinks.
