    The Rose has great ambience.

After a very busy Sunday, my husband and I were looking for some place quiet to grab something light to eat before the busy day continued with a concert at the Majestic. We had almost given up on finding that place when we turned the corner and spotted the Rose. As soon as we went through the door we could sense we had found our place. We were welcomed with a friendly greeting and seated quickly and immediately liked the food offerings. The service was wonderful. We got the 3 meat flatbread and loved it. I had a Pinot Grigio and it was just what was needed to relax after running around so much. The Rose has some very intriguing interior decor, and definitely was the right place to grab a quick bite before heading to the Majestic.

Cute little place downtown. From the outside you can't really tell, but the inside is really cozy and has good drinks. Definitely recommend trying their flatbreads, especially the one with figs and arugula.

This is a great bar to relax with a couple of cocktails. I remember going here on a San Antonio Spirits bar crawl so added bonus that this bar I also supposedly haunted. We went on a Tuesday night before Christmas so there were not too many people there which, at our middle age, we much prefer. I got two lemon drop hibiscus cocktails which were perfectly balanced and delicious. We stayed at the Townplace Suites which was only a few blocks away.

Today is The Rose's one year anniversary, so let's celebrate with a review. The Rose is a great bar with lots of charm. Its name pays homage to the country song, "San Antonio Rose." The dim lighting creates a romantic ambience, so it's perfect for date night but also a great place to hang out with friends and enjoy live music. Featured musical acts range from Old School Blues, Rock, Jazz, & Soul. The menu offers a nice selection of craft cocktails and artisan bites at a reasonable price. My friend and I stopped in on a Friday Night. There was a great jazz band playing called Tiny Jazz. Thy were very entertaining, and I suggest catching their next performance. We ordered cocktails and enjoyed their set. I had the Seasonal Lemon Drop, and my friend got an Old Fashioned. Both were expertly crafted and delicious. My friend and I agreed that we would love to come back here. Happy 1 year anniversary! May there be many more. *Live music Thurs/Fri/Sat 8 pm - Midnight *Happy Hour 4 - 7 pm $5 wells, wine, & select drafts.

I came to this location last month with my partner after diner for a cocktail. For those familiar with the area, this spot is located in the former Maddy McMurphy's Irish Sports Bar on the corner of East Houston Street. The Rose -- its name is presumably a nod to the country music classic "San Antonio Rose". The vibe inside is reminiscent of an upscale jazz lounge combined with a tapas bar. The night that I was here, the live music from the pianist who played Yacht rock and Yacht soul music (literally my favorite genre of music). I ordered a grasshopper. This drink is made with Crème de menthe, Crème de cacao and heavy cream. However, the establishment didn't have all the ingredients and did their best to make it right. While the drink wasn't exactly right, the fact that they took the time to try to do so made up for it. If in the area and looking for a late-night drink and good music with friends or for a date night, this place is not to be missed. #supportlocal

Loved that guy photo bombing us. He took very good care of us inside.

Add this to your best place for cocktails list. After seeing Funny Girl at the Majestic, could not go home. Crashed a wedding at the St Anthony hotel, bar closed, so continued on to the Rose. I think the manager waited on us, sweet guy. It was the end of the evening, so can't list everyone's choice. I had an old fashioned ( or 2) With the big ice cube and cherry. Perfect. Beautiful bar and big windows. At midnight we saw a poor school bus from Goose Creek ISD circle the block several times. That driver needed to come sit with us. Ha. Fun photo ops. Just a stroll from our loft. Fun end to the evening.

Heard about this new spot so of course we had to check it out as we walked through downtown San Antonio. I am so glad we did. Warm and inviting with a "fire" going above the bar on the big screen, you want nothing more than to cozy up to the bar as soon as you walk in. Unique seating areas perfect for photo ops and a confidence boost! The craft cocktails are described by flavor profile in a leather bound menu. We had lots of questions since the details lacked a description of the specific alcohol used in the drinks, but this is done purposely. The bartender graciously answered all of our questions. At The Rose you can trust the mixologists to carefully craft and deliver the perfect cocktail designed to your liking. I had one cocktail off the menu, reminiscent of a hot toddy-but cold. It was soothing and a perfect balance of sweet and sour. I also ordered a Boulevardier, a drink off of the menu, and that was perfect as well. Great service, delicious cocktails, and an inviting atmosphere, The Rose is definitely a spot we will return to when we are in town again. Maybe next time we can grab a bite off of their menu and listen to some live music!

Met friends downtown and finally got to try The Rose in the old Ticket sports bar location. It was early afternoon so we got a table right away and since the servers were not on staff yet we had to place our order at the bar. No problem. We ordered some appetizers, the whipped feta dip and the prosciutto flat bread; I then ordered a bullet rye old fashioned. My drink came out first and it was made well and later I ordered another one. When the apps came out, they smelled delicious and tasted as good as they looked, all going well so far. As we prepare to leave and I look over the check, I notice that I was charged $15 dollars for my Old Fashioned then there was an added $4 for selecting Bulleit Rye. When I bring this to the attention of the bartender, I point to the menu which has the price of the Old Fashioned as $12.50 and also note there was no mention of a surcharge for a good rye but not one I would consider premium. The bartender goes on to say, oh, you must have been given an old menu with old prices as they were recently changed. I then ask about the surcharge and they go on to say that is customary when not using their standard. Oh, ok. Overall, I liked the food and the drinks but will think twice about going here again as the only time I've ever paid $19 for an Old Fashioned was in London and NYC. The fact they couldn't make sure all the menu pricing was accurate or inform me of upcharges prevented The Rose from getting the fifth star. If you go be sure to verify what you will be charged.

Great ambiance! Solid drinks! Inviting and engaging atmosphere! We loved the bar, it's decorations, and the friendly staff. We look forward to our next visit.

The Rose is hands-down our favorite bar ever. We were in San Antonio on vacation and ended up coming back night after night -- it's got that "Cheers" vibe where everyone, but mainly CJ, knows your name, and you actually want to stay and hang out. CJ is the highlight of the whole place! She's very sweet, welcoming, and somehow remembered our names every single night. Total gem -- we were so happy she was covering someone's shift and got to see her all 3 nights we were in town. Josh was very attentive, and there was this super sweet 21-year-old guy working who chatted with us like we were old friends (wish we caught his name!). Drinks were on point, appetizers were way better than you'd expect at a bar, and the live bands were a whole vibe. If you're ever in San Antonio, don't miss this place -- we'll be back every time we're in town!

This is my second time eating here and I love it! Sonya makes some delicious food every time I'm here. They also play some great live music often! The bartenders also make amazing drinks! Every time I stay downtown at the menger hotel I like to stop by.

Nice bar in downtown San Antonio that serves above average cocktails with some small bites. The bar tender was attentive and helpful. We tried several whiskey drinks which were all good but not special.

    Old fashioned.

I have walked past this place a few dozen times and decided to stop in last night. Lou was behind the bar and a solid guy, he makes a great old fashioned. Came back tonight Ximena was behind the bar. She looks like a young Natalie Portman!! She was adorable and made a couple solid Old Fashions and then made a Gin drink which Lou had recommended the night before called a "Chat Me Up". Great experience both nights. Definitely worth a visit whether you're in town for work or looking for that special date night on the Riverwalk. The Rose is definitely on a return visit list for me.

Morrissey hadn't graced San Antonio in over 10 years, with past cancellations and postponements haunting fans along the way. So when he finally returned, San Antonio Moz fans showed up and showed out. Despite multiple after-party options across the city, fans from Brazil, the UK, Canada, Japan, and all across the U.S. chose Bang Bang Bar as the place to be on a cold Saturday night. Hosted by local emcee Ricardo Moz and Apollo DJ, the night turned into one for the history books. Bang Bang Bar is easily one of Texas' best dive-lounge bars...the perfect blend of gritty and cozy. Great cocktail program, solid beer selection, and a vibe that just works. The décor leans heavy into a 1950s-60s lounge aesthetic, with intimate spaces like the Blue Room and Yellow Room, perfect for groups of 7-10. Low lighting, warm atmosphere, and zero pretension exactly what you want for a night like this. Bang Bang Bar consistently supports local and touring acts, spanning punk, alternative, and DJ-driven nights, and this Moz Smiths Disco was no exception. It was wall-to-wall classics all night long. Major credit to Phanie and the Bang Bang Bar management they rolled up their sleeves, brought in extra bar staff, and handled an overwhelming crowd like pros. Fans waited up to 45 minutes in the cold, with a line wrapping around the building, and the energy inside never dipped. As the host of Panic On The Streets, I'm incredibly thankful to Bang Bang Bar for helping us pull off one of the best after-parties we've done in years. Fittingly, 2026 marks the 10-year anniversary of both Bang Bang Bar and Panic On The Streets of San Antonio and what a way to celebrate. Bang Bang Bar has long been one of my favorite bars in town, and after this night, that reputation is more than earned. Drinks were AMAZING! Bartender Rob made the best Negroni I've ever had. I asked him to use whatever gin he thought best--result was an artistic smooooooth full-bodied drink. Told him when I was done I'd lick the glass if it wasn't considered so uncouth for a 'mature' lady like myself to do so Hubby's Buffalo Trace bourbon old fashioned was also outstanding. Rob was the bartender last night who did such a great job, and his work was even better tonight. We highly recommend The EsquireTavern for excellent cocktails. We love the long wood bar and high copper ceiling upstairs, but love the intimate speakeasy atmosphere downstairs even more. We'll definitely be back every time we're in San Antonio! First review, Friday night: Drinks were great (Manhattan and Bourbon Old Fashioned). REAL drinks, no complaints at all about those. And the bartenders were very friendly and helpful. Those aspects of the Esquire get 5+ stars from us. But the appetizers were not good, close to inedible. It was about 8:30pm or so, so maybe they were getting ready to close out the kitchen but the chalupitas with chicken tasted like rubber, and no flavor at all. The seafood platter had something in it that was breading with shell inside, but no meat of any kind. We couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be. The shrimp was good and the fish was good but those other things... We'll always love the drinks, the long wooden bar, and the ambiance at the Esquire Tavern, but we'll eat somewhere else and come here for before or after dinner drinks.
