Drink was exactly the place I was looking for and it happened to be located right across the street from my hotel. Drink Texas is a no frills, great dive bar with everything you need to have a good time. The service was friendly, my family all came to visit and we had a good time catching up here. The music was great, plenty of room and there was bar games. If you're looking for good drinks, a chill place to hang out and enjoy yourself, this is a good spot. read more

A fun bar that is a little off the riverwalk; this was perfect as it was less packed and much easier to get a drink! We had a group looking for an after party lol. First we tried a place right on the river but it was packed with no tables so we ended up at Drink Texas and it was exactly what we were looking for! It wasn't super full when we got there which let us get drinks, but the DJ was pretty great and by the time they kicked us out at 2 there was a good party going on! They also had a fun little Christmas Photo Booth set up. read more

Ok ok not the best picture, but this bar really kept me off my phone. It's nothing fancy inside but that's the magic of it, you walk in and have the friendliest bartender, who went beyond serving drinks, giving us out of towners recs. It has a touch tunes so clearly I became a dj & those in the bar didn't seem to mind. The waitress was so sweet she let us take two cups because they said Texas & we fell in love with them. This is NOT a dive bar! This is a lovely bar in San Antonio that offers a LONG happy hour! Post COVID happy hour ends at 8. STILL worth the walk past the River walk! Every bartender was the sweetest! My girls Carmen and Samantha took excellent care of us! I didn't have to ask for a drink. It's currently the drought of 2022, where the temp exceeds 100 degrees daily...THIS AC BE BLOWIN'! A nice "dive" bar across the street from hotel. No frills but good beer on tap, a selection of cocktails to choose, and some nice, friendly bartenders to help you out. No problem finding a seat at the bar on a Thursday night. I think most of the people were drawn in because they had Thursday Night Football on the TVs. Since those games are only on Amazon Prime, a little harder to find a bar showing them, even with Dallas playing in the game! All in all, not a bad spot to catch the game and make some friends. read more

Stopped in here for a relaxing happy hour drink while in San Antonio on 5/29/19. Great prices, good drinks, chill vibe, great location. HOWEVER ... we closed the tab and gave the gal behind the bar a 20% tip. Fair enough. We get back home and review all our transactions in our bank account from the trip and found out the gal behind the bar gaver herself a TWENTY DOLLAR TIP. $20 !!!!! What should have (and we though was) a total bill of $26.25 ended up being $46.25 that was debited from our bank account. Oh ... and we reported this to our bank to have it investigated. We just received the letter from the bank that our account has been credited the $20 extra she gave herself. Buyer beware. Check your bank accounts after you leave this place. So I came in to have a drink at around 0140 ish on a Saturday to have a vodka tonic before they closed and the bartender served me and I was chilling before closing time when the DJ kept asking who I was and he didn't know me. After the third or fourth time he asked me in spanish I finally replied in spanish I don't know who you are either and I got asked by a manager or owner to leave...... buenos tiempos. Happy Hour Times: M-F 2pm-9pm Weekends 4pm-9pm Happy Hour Prices: $2.50 wells, $4 crown and jack, $3.5 Irish car bombs for St. Patrick's Day Alright y'all. All you need to know about how many times I've frequented this place is that within a few day I became the Duchess. Don't judge. The bright side of that is that because I came by so many times, I got to see the different bartenders at different times to compare consistency. If you want a cheap happy hour place that lasts a considerable time, Drink Texas is your place. I will say it's a hit or miss when it comes to how strong your drinks are or whether or not the soda is flat. HOWEVER it's only $2.50 and you get drunk either way so there's not much to complain about. The place is divey but clean. There's ample seating - couches, tall tables, bar seats, etc. They definitely could care less about why you're there as long as you're a paying patron. That is nice when you're just catching up with friends over some cheap drinks. Drink Texas is also centrally located in terms of Downtown San Antonio so if you're ever in the area, this is a place I'd definitely recommend! Note there are "bar snacks" here but I definitely wouldn't recommend them unless you're starving. read more

I love the atmosphere here, but I am only a beer drinker so I can't comment on the mixed drinks or the wine selection. I do enjoy the atmosphere, and as someone else stated, they don't seem to have a dress code - but I see this as a PLUS! The leather couches and the decor present a pretty swank environment, but don't let this fool you. My crew and I have gone in there in shorts and t-shirts in the summer time and we fit right in. Prices are ok for the touristy location that it is in, but they still manage to keep it real. I would recommend this place to locals as well as out of towners. read more

We stayed in San Antonio for three days and every day, we came to Drink Texas for happy hour. On weekdays their happy hour is from 2pm-9pm and on weekends it's 4pm-9pm. Well drinks are $2.50 which is a pretty sweet deal! They also had $4 crown drinks. On one of the days the soda was flat which didn't make the drink taste good at all but the other two days it was fine. The drinks are also not the strongest (they don't give a full shot for some drinks) but for the price it's a little hard to complain. They also had St. Patrick's Day specials which included $4 Irish car bombs. I've never had one before so I enjoyed drinking it for the first time. This place is not known for their food so if you're expecting fine dining you're at the wrong place. I heard the waitress even saying that their snacks are microwaved so make sure you eat somewhere else and come here for the cheap drinks. This is definitely bookmarked for my next trip to San Antonio! read more

For once I decided not to follow any yelp reviews and took my chances into unchartered territory. I wasn't really in the mood to do the touristy thing near the riverwalk and not knowing what to find on a cold Sunday night, I was pleased to stumble across Drink - a warm, low-key spot where I could get my drink on. It's a small place, but the walls are decorated with paintings from local artists while some eclectic/indie music plays in the background. They also set up a projector showing ESPN on the wall which was showing a football game. I chatted up with the bartenders, Roger and Olive, and some of the locals that frequent the bar. The drink prices are average and although they didn't have much of a wine list, I was informed that it changes frequently based on supply and demand. The place was kind of empty at around 9:30pm but it soon filled up quickly when it got closer to 11:00pm. The age range seems to hover around 25. The locals said that this place gets pretty packed on Friday and Saturdays nights, but for what it's worth I kind of liked the chill atmosphere on Sunday. read more

Spent most of last Saturday at Drink Texas with some friends watching college football games. Kelsey was amazing! There were 20 of us in our extremely loud, needy, and inebriated group and she really made us feel at home. I would highly recommend Drink Texas, especially when Kelsey is working!!! read more

This bar looks like it can be good but get better employees. If people sit at the bar they want to talk if they sit away from bar let them be. Serve the drinks and go away. The lady that kept talking to us was acting as if she ... Maybe this place will get better.

We had great service and I decided to try the crispy chicken Cobb salad. Now for those of you that are old enough to remember the "real men of genius" Bud Light commercials I refer you to the inventor of the giant taco salad... Fried chicken strips, bacon, fried onions, and a little bit of lettuce... Lol! Delicious!

I haphazardly walked in here early Saturday afternoon with a few friends since we had a few hours until our feature presentation of the day was scheduled to begin. We couldn't really make out what type of bar Drink was from the outside because of its fancy tinted windows, and to be honest, I immediately started having second thoughts as I entered the bar since it was a lot more upscale than what I'd been used to seeing in San Antonio, but this all changed as soon as we sat down at the bar and let Tommi (sorry if I spelt your name wrong!) take care of our ethanolic desires for the afternoon. First off, Drink is the first bar I've seen in San Antonio that actually carries Hendrick's. Granted, I haven't ventured far and wide to look for Hendrick's (which if I were back home in the Bay Area I wouldn't have to) specifically, but to me it was like one of those creature comforts that reassured me that I was drinking at the right place. Another one of those creature comforts was displayed in the form of an empty bottle of Johnnie Blue still in its padded wooden casing, which I gave serious thought about ordering since I had just gotten paid yesterday, but before that thought had any chance to materialize into action, my friend out of the blue proposed that we take shots, so we ended up shooting liquid cocaines at three in the afternoon instead. Good times. Drink also carried the usual local favorites on tap; it took me about two pints of Shiner 102 for me to get over the novelty of seeing it on tap and decide that I didn't like it, but they did have it here -- their "before 9pm happy hour" specials would have ensured that my friend would drink here until 9pm, had it not been for the fact that we had already bought tickets for a 5.30pm movie. In the end, my experience at Drink left me drunk enough to wander into the concession stand at the Rivercenter AMC and take a ten dollar bet that I couldn't drink from the liquid butter dispenser (the one that they have for the popcorn) for 15 seconds, which eventually led to me passing out and missing the first 45 minutes of the movie due to a butter/alcohol-induced coma and walking out of the cineplex #6 with what now feels like a clogged artery on my right leg. If all goes well, my next yelp review should hopefully be of a hospital. Or an amputation clinic. Or maybe the local triple-bypass surgeon. read more

Marathon Happy Hour! Let's be honest, sometimes you just need a good dive bar. And if you find yourself near San Antonio's Riverwalk and that craving hits, look no further than Drink Texas. Just a few steps from the Riverwalk hustle and bustle, this place is a breath of fresh (and cheap!) air. Forget the fancy cocktails and overpriced ambiance. Drink Texas is all about the essentials: ice-cold beer on tap, a solid selection of shots, and a seriously impressive "marathon" happy hour that runs from 2 PM to 9 PM. Yes, you read that right. 2 to 9! That's a happy marathon, not just an hour. This place is no-frills in the best way possible. It's got that classic dive bar vibe: a bar, a few small tables, and a jukebox (or sometimes a DJ) setting the mood. The bartenders are super friendly and make you feel right at home, and the other patrons are just as welcoming. It's the kind of place where you can strike up a conversation with a complete stranger and feel like you've known them for years. This was the highlight of our stay (we were at the Contessa, just opposite Drink). There are about 120 wines but only ever 20 on the menu since they apparently rotate the menu every week. You have to ask the servers about the wines, since they will open anything you ask for. While the wines are good (and cheap - yay - starting at $20/bottle), there's some real love in the cocktail list. The staff all have their own custom cocktails so it's fun to try their suggestions. The lounge seating is very relaxing, and the place never seems packed even when its busy (San Antonio seems to get busy from 10pm every night - presumably people work here?). A light food menu is available but this is the coolest and most relaxing place we found (also discovered they have a 30% military discount, which helped me). read more

This place is ghetto ! the first and only time coming here with my brother and niece we don't even make through our first drink before trouble starts . My niece and brother notice a patron hitting his girlfriend in the face so my niece quickly attempts to intervene and the abusive boyfriend shoved her then the bartender quickly notices and call the police having my niece and brother arrested. The abuser and his girlfriend somehow go on there way without incident. Drink at your own risk is all I have to say . read more

WORST BAR IN SAN ANTONIO!!!! The manager Tommy is rude, arrogant and a complete bitch! She boast about how she is ripping the owner off to pay for her broken down car. The drinks are weak! This is my favorite place to go. It's relaxed and chill and the prices aren't too bad. The one thing bad I have to stay is sometimes the DJ isn't the best and the drinks aren't made the best but that is just my preference. Otherwise, every time I go out I ended up here for a bit. read more

This is a nice lounge bar tucked away from the Riverwalk. If you're staying downtown or visiting Drink should be on your list. There's a good selection of cocktails and wine to choose from. Compared to where I live (San Francisco) the prices are AMazing. read more
