A fun bar that is a little off the riverwalk; this was perfect as it was less packed and much easier to get a drink! We had a group looking for an after party lol. First we tried a place right on the river but it was packed with no tables so we ended up at Drink Texas and it was exactly what we were looking for! It's nothing fancy inside but that's the magic of it, you walk in and have the friendliest bartender, who went beyond serving drinks, giving us out of towners recs. A nice "dive" bar across the street from hotel. No frills but good beer on tap, a selection of cocktails to choose, and some nice, friendly bartenders to help you out. No problem finding a seat at the bar on a Thursday night. I think most of the people were drawn in because they had Thursday Night Football on the TVs. Since those games are only on Amazon Prime, a little harder to find a bar showing them, even with Dallas playing in the game! Stopped in here for a relaxing happy hour drink while in San Antonio on 5/29/19. Great prices, good drinks, chill vibe, great location. HOWEVER ... we closed the tab and gave the gal behind the bar a 20% tip. Fair enough. We get back home and review all our transactions in our bank account from the trip and found out the gal behind the bar gaver herself a TWENTY DOLLAR TIP. $20 !!!!! What should have (and we though was) a total bill of $26.25 ended up being $46.25 that was debited from our bank account. Oh ... and we reported this to our bank to have it investigated. We just received the letter from the bank that our account has been credited the $20 extra she gave herself. Buyer beware. Check your bank accounts after you leave this place. All you need to know about how many times I've frequented this place is that within a few day I became the Duchess. Don't judge. The bright side of that is that because I came by so many times, I got to see the different bartenders at different times to compare consistency. If you want a cheap happy hour place that lasts a considerable time, Drink Texas is your place. I will say it's a hit or miss when it comes to how strong your drinks are or whether or not the soda is flat. HOWEVER it's only $2.50 and you get drunk either way so there's not much to complain about. The place is divey but clean. There's ample seating - couches, tall tables, bar seats, etc. They definitely could care less about why you're there as long as you're a paying patron. That is nice when you're just catching up with friends over some cheap drinks. Drink Texas is also centrally located in terms of Downtown San Antonio so if you're ever in the area, this is a place I'd definitely recommend! Note there are "bar snacks" here but I definitely wouldn't recommend them unless you're starving. read more

We stayed in San Antonio for three days and every day, we came to Drink Texas for happy hour. On weekdays their happy hour is from 2pm-9pm and on weekends it's 4pm-9pm. Well drinks are $2.50 which is a pretty sweet deal! They also had $4 crown drinks. On one of the days the soda was flat which didn't make the drink taste good at all but the other two days it was fine. The drinks are also not the strongest (they don't give a full shot for some drinks) but for the price it's a little hard to complain. They also had St. Patrick's Day specials which included $4 Irish car bombs. I've never had one before so I enjoyed drinking it for the first time. This place is not known for their food so if you're expecting fine dining you're at the wrong place. I heard the waitress even saying that their snacks are microwaved so make sure you eat somewhere else and come here for the cheap drinks. This is definitely bookmarked for my next trip to San Antonio! read more

I love the atmosphere here, but I am only a beer drinker so I can't comment on the mixed drinks or the wine selection. I do enjoy the atmosphere, and as someone else stated, they don't seem to have a dress code - but I see this as a PLUS! The leather couches and the decor present a pretty swank environment, but don't let this fool you. My crew and I have gone in there in shorts and t-shirts in the summer time and we fit right in. Prices are ok for the touristy location that it is in, but they still manage to keep it real. I would recommend this place to locals as well as out of towners. read more

For once I decided not to follow any yelp reviews and took my chances into unchartered territory. I wasn't really in the mood to do the touristy thing near the riverwalk and not knowing what to find on a cold Sunday night, I was pleased to stumble across Drink - a warm, low-key spot where I could get my drink on. It's a small place, but the walls are decorated with paintings from local artists while some eclectic/indie music plays in the background. They also set up a projector showing ESPN on the wall which was showing a football game. I chatted up with the bartenders, Roger and Olive, and some of the locals that frequent the bar. The drink prices are average and although they didn't have much of a wine list, I was informed that it changes frequently based on supply and demand. The place was kind of empty at around 9:30pm but it soon filled up quickly when it got closer to 11:00pm. The age range seems to hover around 25. The locals said that this place gets pretty packed on Friday and Saturdays nights, but for what it's worth I kind of liked the chill atmosphere on Sunday. read more
