I have been meaning to hit up this gem of a bar ever since I moved in the area. Ahhh why didn't I go sooner, I had such a fun time!! Picture this, random Tuesday night meet up with a friend and enjoy great drinks and karaoke. That's exactly what went down. We stayed until 1:30am They had karaoke setup and nobody was shy. It was super great vibes with singing along and dancing. The entire bar is a great vibe. The people around held great conversation and it's like an easy time to enjoy yourself. It was the perfect spontaneous Tuesday night that had my young 30s butt tired for work on Wednesday BUT it was oooooh sooooo worth the fun. If you're looking for a low key vibe but high key on fun and great drinks check out The Lighthouse.

There are "dives" and then there are really "dives." The thing for me is what exactly quantifies being one? Is it location? Decor or lack thereof? The audience? No matter how well rounded a person you believe yourself to be you should have at least one in your pocket. A place where you can let your hair down. Trust me I've been to a few lounges so pretentious even a dollar- fifty can of Lonestar Beer turns into a fashion statement. But I digress. The Lighthouse Lounge across the street from Woodlawn Lake fits perfectly into that category. It's a semi small spot trying not to be anything except itself. First the basics. There is finite parking up front but a little opens up in the back. Before you step inside the doorperson takes your temperature. In all honesty I haven't been greeted this way in a long time(Reminded me of Tacoland). Entering inside I was struck by its aesthetics: an old pool table, velvet paintings, antique lamps, squeaky leather furniture and cow skulls on the walls. There is ample seating indoors but patrons were mostly hanging outside on the patio. Walking through I was reminded of the biker scene in "True Detective Season 1" meets "Threes Company." Needless to say it's very quirky, right up my alley. This is not to dissuade nor scare you into not going. If you're planning on ordering a bottle of 1929 Chardonnay from the French Alps of Bordeaux. Or a Trappist Ale from a hidden monastery in Belgrade this place might not be for you. Instead there is a small bar that serves mixed drinks, micheladas and a very small selection of beer at decent prices. I opted for Freetail' s Soul Doubt and Community Axis IPA at 5 bucks a can. They also carry Bud, Lonestar, PBR, etc but only in can. If you're wanting a beer on tap there is none. In addition if you're used to a server coming to your table to take your order don't hold your breath. Instead you go to the counter and the friendly barkeep will help you. Sitting here drinking my two beers whilst listening to Sade's, "No ordinary love" I reflected on this area. Growing up not too far from here there used to be a plethora of neighborhood bars. Instead this area has been rebranded as "The Monticello/Deco District" to attract a more upscale demographic. Sure I saw a few curious millenials who were here for the Happy Hour(7pm-9pm). But I also saw a couple who looked like art teachers. And another well into their Golden Years. In other words there's a cross section of all types and ages. No bar and club can be for everyone all the time. However if you are into new, unique experiences The Lighthouse Lounge might be your new hangout. The vibe is like you're at someone's house party minus Kid N Play. The beers are cold. The staff is friendly. They have DJ's that play 70's Yacht Rock, R&B, Oldies but Goodies on given nights. Plus you have a view overlooking Woodlawn Lake into the evening. If you happen to be in the hood please check it out. ps. I was air drumming to the Blue Oyster Cult's, "Burning for You" and the door person gave me that "More Cowbell!" look.

We came early (~7:30 PM) on a Saturday night and the place looked empty as they were setting up for their 2-year anniversary band, Sexto Sol. Best combo prices ($5) in town from a friendly bartender. As we sat outside, this place started to get packed with people streaming in as DJ Sunnyboy played some great tunes. The other couple are early birds that was too tired to stay for the band and wish I would have been able to hear them, as the bartender said the guitarist opened for Aerosmith and plays some soulful rock tunes. If you are looking for a local watering hole with a nice little deck area that sees the sun set over Woodlawn lake, then you will have to check this place out.

    A cherry vodka sour.

Decided to give this place a try on a Saturday night. Came around 11pm, a nice decent crowd. It is currently 12:40pm and people are coming, showing out. the vibe is great, the people are friendly. I'm probably the youngest one here (24) but I am not complaining one bit. Drinks are very affordable. Would def be coming back again.

The restaurant is part of the Thompson San Antonio hotel and it was modern and elegant throughout. The restaurant is situated on the 20th floor with beautiful views of the city. We sat outside and enjoyed the nightlife. Food and drinks: Great selection in both areas. The menu offers good variety of high quality foods. I opted for ora king salmon with side of asparagus and smoked labneh. The salmon cut was cooked to perfection with flaky meat and crispy skin. The seasoning was spot on. The za'atar chicken kebab dish was equally good. Again, spot on seasoning and succulent meat. The restaurant offers hand crafted signature cocktails as well as selection of wine. Pricing: $$$ - totally justified and worth it.

The atmosphere alone makes a strong first impression and definitely gives a luxury experience. That said, the food was just okay considering the price point and overall presentation of the restaurant. Nothing was bad, but nothing particularly stood out either. Unfortunately, the service was the disappointing part of the experience. It felt inattentive at times and didn't quite match the level of hospitality you would expect from such a beautiful venue. Overall, it's worth visiting for the atmosphere and scenery, but I do hope the food and service improve to fully match the setting. I'm giving a 4 only because of the location and ambiance otherwise it would be 3.5.

Morrissey hadn't graced San Antonio in over 10 years, with past cancellations and postponements haunting fans along the way. So when he finally returned, San Antonio Moz fans showed up and showed out. Despite multiple after-party options across the city, fans from Brazil, the UK, Canada, Japan, and all across the U.S. chose Bang Bang Bar as the place to be on a cold Saturday night. Hosted by local emcee Ricardo Moz and Apollo DJ, the night turned into one for the history books. Bang Bang Bar is easily one of Texas' best dive-lounge bars...the perfect blend of gritty and cozy. Great cocktail program, solid beer selection, and a vibe that just works. The décor leans heavy into a 1950s-60s lounge aesthetic, with intimate spaces like the Blue Room and Yellow Room, perfect for groups of 7-10. Low lighting, warm atmosphere, and zero pretension exactly what you want for a night like this. Bang Bang Bar consistently supports local and touring acts, spanning punk, alternative, and DJ-driven nights, and this Moz Smiths Disco was no exception. It was wall-to-wall classics all night long. Major credit to Phanie and the Bang Bang Bar management they rolled up their sleeves, brought in extra bar staff, and handled an overwhelming crowd like pros. Fans waited up to 45 minutes in the cold, with a line wrapping around the building, and the energy inside never dipped. As the host of Panic On The Streets, I'm incredibly thankful to Bang Bang Bar for helping us pull off one of the best after-parties we've done in years. Fittingly, 2026 marks the 10-year anniversary of both Bang Bang Bar and Panic On The Streets of San Antonio and what a way to celebrate. Bang Bang Bar has long been one of my favorite bars in town, and after this night, that reputation is more than earned. Can't wait to do another Moz Smiths Disco here. -- Panic On The Streets of San Antonio

Gotta say, I think it will. You walk in through the patio which is a completely different (relaxing) vibe than the bar itself. The music is noticeably different, but nice if you're trying to have an intimate conversation. Walking in, the place is decorated nicely. I'm not sure what the theme is but by the signs exclaiming "t*Ts are awesome" and "girls girls girls" I'm assuming the name is not because Cash Rules Everything Around Me. The bartender was nice and friendly. They have specialty drinks, drink + shot combos, and packaged beers. The drink prices were more than reasonable. Dive bar prices with a very nice ambience. The music was great and spanned decades and genres. I found myself dancing in my seat and enjoying my time. It wasn't very crowded but after scouring their social media they've been open for about a month. I'm anxious to see their late night food menu. I've already made plans with friends to come back and check it out. Five stars for potential. I enjoyed my time there and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others. TL;DR: cheap drinks, fun vibe, spacious and well decorated, classy with affordable drinks that won't break the bank. Fingers crossed on the kitchen, not yet open

Tucked away on the Westside of downtown, this place is a true hidden gem, nestled in a well-established neighborhood. This past Mother's Day, I stopped by for a Sunday Funday, and wow...what a vibe! The front door was decked out in this festive, colorful "fiesta" style that immediately set the tone. The bar was buzzing with energy, cocktails flowing, close friends laughing, and yes... karaoke in full swing. One of the best surprises of the night? Running into Stephanie behind the bar. She's one of those bartenders who makes everything feel easy and fun. We ordered Mexican Martinis made with top-shelf tequila (Stephanie hyped it up as an award-winning drink and she wasn't wrong!). I also tried the Melon Margarita, which was super refreshing. The space itself has gotten some upgrades since my last visit--both inside and out. They mentioned this was actually one of their last nights open before closing for a two-week remodel. They're adding a garage door to open up the patio to the inside, and I'm already excited to see how that transforms the vibe. Later in the evening, we ended up enjoying a few cigars on the patio/lounge side, which honestly pairs really well with the chill, open-air setup. And I have to give a shoutout to the AMI jukebox; c we chose a solid mix of 80s hits and sophisti-pop. The night ended with karaoke... and here's the wild part: I actually participated. I never do karaoke, but this night? Something about it just clicked. It had been a while since I'd had a night that fun. Can't wait to come back after the remodel. Chiflada's definitely still has that magic.
