Okay, so this is technically my first time leaving a review; even though I've been to Chiflada's Cocktail Bar before. Tucked away on the Westside of downtown, this place is a true hidden gem, nestled in a well-established neighborhood. This past Mother's Day, I stopped by for a Sunday Funday, and wow...what a vibe! The front door was decked out in this festive, colorful "fiesta" style that immediately set the tone. The bar was buzzing with energy, cocktails flowing, close friends laughing, and yes... karaoke in full swing. One of the best surprises of the night? Running into Stephanie behind the bar. She's one of those bartenders who makes everything feel easy and fun. We ordered Mexican Martinis made with top-shelf tequila (Stephanie hyped it up as an award-winning drink and she wasn't wrong!). I also tried the Melon Margarita, which was super refreshing. The space itself has gotten some upgrades since my last visit--both inside and out. They mentioned this was actually one of their last nights open before closing for a two-week remodel. They're adding a garage door to open up the patio to the inside, and I'm already excited to see how that transforms the vibe. Later in the evening, we ended up enjoying a few cigars on the patio/lounge side, which honestly pairs really well with the chill, open-air setup. And I have to give a shoutout to the AMI jukebox; c we chose a solid mix of 80s hits and sophisti-pop. The night ended with karaoke... and here's the wild part: I actually participated. I never do karaoke, but this night? Something about it just clicked. It had been a while since I'd had a night that fun. Can't wait to come back after the remodel. Chiflada's definitely still has that magic.

This is absolutely a hidden gem on the westside of San Antonio! The atmosphere feels like a house party that isn't too crazy but far from boring. I myself enjoy Karaoke Sundays here. Drinks are cheap and the rotating food trucks are usually spot on. I highly recommend checking it out if you're looking for something different and away from the downtown madness.

My friends and I came here on Sunday night during president's day weekend. The business covers a small space with both Indoor/outdoor area/lounge area. There is a food truck serving noodles and other Asian bites. The indoor bar is fully stocked with liquor, beer, and non alcoholic beverages. The inside is styled with pink interior/led lights perfect for an intimate experience. While we were there, it must have been karaoke night as many people were using the microphone to sing familiar tunes ranging from norteños, to pop and even rap. Some singers were good and others not so much lol. Normally my friend DJ's here with a wide range of music selection. The drinks were very reasonably priced and the bartender was extremely efficient and sweet. She was the only bartender but got people their orders very fast. I really liked this westside gem, it's on a semi-main road with a good amount of close-by street parking around street lights. The late night atmosphere/crowd was not chaotic here at all, I was visiting my hometown (San Antonio) from LA but would love to come back here to run it back on my next visit with my friends again.

You'll like the way they work it (no diggity), no doubt. This place isn't fancy. It's necessary. Chifladas is the life of the west side, a literal diamond in the rough. On a corner on W Martin you'll have a chance to listen to some amazing jams (how do you want it? how do you feel?), hang out under bistro string lights, use a vintage photo booth, drink your drink, and feel right at home. Sitting at a table out back feels like we're just hanging out at a friend's house in the backyard. You have to stop in to appreciate the genuine warmth of this homegrown local spot. Highly recommend.

It's a super cozy friendly neighborhood bar. They have cute and festive drinks and mixed shots. We had an upside down fine apple shot and it was a dream. I like that they have a period pantry available to the community. So much it made me look into volunteering for those how made it happen.

Fun bar on the west side!

I'm glad they had room for us but, it's still safe to make reservations. We did not know they are a tapas style restaurant, but that didn't deter us. And we were pleasantly surprised at the size of their "tapas". What we ordered was enough for two people to share. Dumplings - 9/10 Gulf Shrimp & Noodles - 10/10 Blistered Green Beans - 10/10 Ramen - 9/10 Service was great. It's a casual atmosphere, but perfect for an intimate date night.

A bit messy to eat but I would get this again. Udon noodle with pork belly: noodles were kind of irregular in lengths. I really liked the sauce with it but it felt like it was missing something. Light dish. Tc double cheese burger: very strong flavors, somewhat sweet. Dense/heavy dish . Our waiter was quick and friendly. The restaurant lighting was dimmed and gave a more intimate /bar environment. I think the ac was broken here because it was very warm and they had fans going on around the room. I think this place would be good for someone who is prefers an American fusion cuisine that leans heavily on the western style dishes. The fusion elements were cute but I still left unsatisfied but still full. We did not park. We walked here right from the river walk. Not a bad place to go if you arrive in town after 9 pm.

The Study never fails to disappoint!…read more They have a great bourbon selection, and most are very reasonably priced! Bartenders are very knowledgeable and offer great suggestions! They don't do parties of larger than four, so it is always quaint, cozy and intimate. Great atmosphere!

Our initial visit to this establishment presented some unique circumstances. On that occasion, the…read morevenue was exceptionally busy, and the sole bartender on duty informed us he was covering for an absent colleague. Despite the staff shortage, we placed a significant order for at least ten drinks. My husband had made a reservation for 6:00 PM. However, at approximately 7:30 PM, after we had already placed our drink order, a staff member informed my husband that our table reservation was only valid for two hours. Concerned about the impending two-hour limit and the delay in receiving our drinks, which had still not arrived by 7:45 PM, we inquired with our bartender about potentially canceling our order. He reassured us, stating that other tables were available should additional patrons arrive. Our subsequent visit, on Saturday, July 25, 2026, was solely with my husband. We arrived punctually, approximately five minutes before our 7:30 PM reservation. A female bartender directed us to a small, two-person table, despite the presence of two larger, seemingly more comfortable, unoccupied tables nearby. While initially assuming these larger tables might be reserved for a bigger party, the selection felt somewhat restrictive given the availability. Our seating unfortunately placed us adjacent to another patron who was using an additional chair to prop up her footwear, which contributed to an unpleasant atmosphere. The bartender then approached our table and asked if it was our first time, to which we replied it was not. She then asked if we knew what we wanted to order. We requested a brief moment to review the menu. However, we then waited for approximately fifteen minutes for her to return. Eventually, my husband had to actively call her over to place our order. Our initial drinks arrived after another ten to fifteen minutes. Subsequently, my husband attempted to catch the bartender's attention to order another round and request water. However, she was engaged in a lengthy conversation, estimated at ten minutes, with the neighboring patron and proceeded to walk past our table without acknowledging us. This extended period of being overlooked led to considerable frustration for my husband, who then felt compelled to approach the main bar directly to place our order and obtain water from a different bartender. It was only after this that the initial female bartender finally approached our table, asking if we needed anything. Considering the relatively small size of the establishment and the fact that there were only three occupied tables at the time, the level of inattentive and delayed service was particularly disappointing and, frankly, perplexing.

Update to first review below, rating updated from a 3 to a 5 star (drinks & bartender would get 10+…read morestars if we could rate that high): Saturday night: Went back for after dinner drinks at the Downstairs (a "speakeasy" throwback, look up the history of the place to see why). Drinks were AMAZING! Bartender Rob made the best Negroni I've ever had. I asked him to use whatever gin he thought best--result was an artistic smooooooth full-bodied drink. Told him when I was done I'd lick the glass if it wasn't considered so uncouth for a 'mature' lady like myself to do so Hubby's Buffalo Trace bourbon old fashioned was also outstanding. Rob was the bartender last night who did such a great job, and his work was even better tonight. We highly recommend The EsquireTavern for excellent cocktails. We love the long wood bar and high copper ceiling upstairs, but love the intimate speakeasy atmosphere downstairs even more. We'll definitely be back every time we're in San Antonio! First review, Friday night: Drinks were great (Manhattan and Bourbon Old Fashioned). REAL drinks, no complaints at all about those. And the bartenders were very friendly and helpful. Those aspects of the Esquire get 5+ stars from us. But the appetizers were not good, close to inedible. It was about 8:30pm or so, so maybe they were getting ready to close out the kitchen but the chalupitas with chicken tasted like rubber, and no flavor at all. The seafood platter had something in it that was breading with shell inside, but no meat of any kind. We couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be. The shrimp was good and the fish was good but those other things... We'll always love the drinks, the long wooden bar, and the ambiance at the Esquire Tavern, but we'll eat somewhere else and come here for before or after dinner drinks. (See update above to this review for when we returned the next night for after dinner drinks.)

However, if you come in from the street, you need to walk to the other side of the restaurant to get a table.. We ordered a limonada with prickly pear, fried quail, lamb burger, and bison burger. They came with a few spicy pickled veggies as a side. The limonada was as expected . I highly recommend a fried quails legs. We enjoy eating quails, but it's usually bittersweet relationship because of all the small bones however their appetizer for fried quail legs is super user-friendly. If you are scared of choking on small bones, these will not give you that kind of worry at all. We were impressed on how well-made and easily eaten they were. Our waiter was very friendly and he checked on us a few times. He was also the one that suggested the fried quail legs. We walked here .
