This is your typical tourist trap, watered down cold slushie drinks to go on the riverwalk. I love the idea of on the go but had a stomach ache at the end of this drink. Also this is the smallest size and it was $22!!

There's tons of options on the RiverWalk and this was the first place we went when we arrived. They had a variety of frozen drinks and it was a quick walk from the hotel. We all tried the mango/strawberry mix and I will definitely say it went down well. I can imagine this spot is lively at nighttime as the cups light up. Definitely worth checking out since you can walk on the RW with drinks!

The drink we got was $34 for the tall park police it came with a shot of rum and came garnished with a orange slice and a Jell-O shot which was too tarte for me but was still yummy . It was a cool place inside. you have to walk across the street from the theatre and go down the stairs and it is right there. We had a little trouble finding it. The inside had a DJ and they were playing twerking music and fun songs but when we walked back by to leave they were playing mexican music so I'm sure they have a variety. There were people inside dancing and having a good time. No restrooms and they also took Apple Pay. It was a good place overall but the drinks were pretty high. It was a light up cup that you got to keep so that was cool.

Amazing atmosphere and definitely a good tourist spot to grab a fun drink and starting location for the river walk!!! They have good music playing and everyone is very helpful and does a fantastic job making drinks!!!!

Best ambiance! Excellent bartenders. Great location. $25 for a drink with $10 refills for life! Variety of choices. Located along Riverwalk, next to the docking station of the boat. Must try! 4-15-2021

    Great drinks

Loved the drinks. They were stronger than I thought it would be. The service was great. I tried several flavors!!!! Perfect for hot days.

Absolutely loved this place omg !!! I loved my cup and although it is $28 boy does it do the job!!! Wow it was so tasty and strong and I love me some frozen drinks! Not so busy on a Friday night no long lines or anything. Definitely worth it.

Wife and I love grabbing our Margarita Refills for only $5 each right now. You can walk around the whole Riverwalk with these beauties. A new cup is $10 (normally $19). Refills only $5. My favorite go to is Mango & Lime topped off with Strawberry. Love the look empty handed people give you when they see you sipping and strolling lol. "Hey, where'd you get that?" And I love to answer... THIRSTY AZTEC!!! Support local folks. They have a DJ on some nights and is really a CASUAL & CONVENIENT SPOT! (Only reason for the low star is the staff just always seems too busy to chat. I get it, it's a Tourist spot but if if I say hi, come on, you can say hello)

Drinks were AMAZING! The server was so sweet and recommended mini golf, we went and had a BLAST! It's inside in the AC to give you a little break from the river walk heat and the Lady running the mini golf was so fun!

I always come here every time I come to San Antonio their drinks are very colorful and fun and I love that they have Jell-O shots and test tube shots to add to your drinks we had the park police the Texas lemonade and the Red Bull margarita lime flavored. They are very heavily colored and also very sweet you have to drink these before they melt or there's no getting through them. The price for the drinks is not bad and you pay a lot for the atmosphere as well service was very fast I never had to wait in line to get my drink. I recommend this place as a fun stop on your Riverwalk tour and will come back next time I'm in town! I'd also like to add that they will refill other margarita glasses for $12 that you buy elsewhere on the Riverwalk this is a plus!

a colorful drink in a tall glass

Good prices they have a lot of flavors to choose from We enjoyed it ! It was kind of hard to find the location I would suggest more street signs other than that everything was good

A joke. Tourist trap. The bartenders were rude and unhelpful. The drinks are EXPENSIVE. If you want crappy drinks in a neat environment then this place is for you. I went one time.

Prices are obscene. Sneak in booze, it'd be worth the risk. One round of 2 beers cost me over $40.

I'm glad they had room for us but, it's still safe to make reservations. We did not know they are a tapas style restaurant, but that didn't deter us. And we were pleasantly surprised at the size of their "tapas". What we ordered was enough for two people to share. Dumplings - 9/10 Gulf Shrimp & Noodles - 10/10 Blistered Green Beans - 10/10 Ramen - 9/10 Service was great. It's a casual atmosphere, but perfect for an intimate date night.

Light dish. Tc double cheese burger: very strong flavors, somewhat sweet. Dense/heavy dish . Our waiter was quick and friendly. The restaurant lighting was dimmed and gave a more intimate /bar environment. I think the ac was broken here because it was very warm and they had fans going on around the room. I think this place would be good for someone who is prefers an American fusion cuisine that leans heavily on the western style dishes. The fusion elements were cute but I still left unsatisfied but still full. We did not park. We walked here right from the river walk. Not a bad place to go if you arrive in town after 9 pm.

Our initial visit to this establishment presented some unique circumstances. On that occasion, the…read morevenue was exceptionally busy, and the sole bartender on duty informed us he was covering for an absent colleague. Despite the staff shortage, we placed a significant order for at least ten drinks. My husband had made a reservation for 6:00 PM. However, at approximately 7:30 PM, after we had already placed our drink order, a staff member informed my husband that our table reservation was only valid for two hours. Concerned about the impending two-hour limit and the delay in receiving our drinks, which had still not arrived by 7:45 PM, we inquired with our bartender about potentially canceling our order. He reassured us, stating that other tables were available should additional patrons arrive. Our subsequent visit, on Saturday, July 25, 2026, was solely with my husband. We arrived punctually, approximately five minutes before our 7:30 PM reservation. A female bartender directed us to a small, two-person table, despite the presence of two larger, seemingly more comfortable, unoccupied tables nearby. While initially assuming these larger tables might be reserved for a bigger party, the selection felt somewhat restrictive given the availability. Our seating unfortunately placed us adjacent to another patron who was using an additional chair to prop up her footwear, which contributed to an unpleasant atmosphere. The bartender then approached our table and asked if it was our first time, to which we replied it was not. She then asked if we knew what we wanted to order. We requested a brief moment to review the menu. However, we then waited for approximately fifteen minutes for her to return. Eventually, my husband had to actively call her over to place our order. Our initial drinks arrived after another ten to fifteen minutes. Subsequently, my husband attempted to catch the bartender's attention to order another round and request water. However, she was engaged in a lengthy conversation, estimated at ten minutes, with the neighboring patron and proceeded to walk past our table without acknowledging us. This extended period of being overlooked led to considerable frustration for my husband, who then felt compelled to approach the main bar directly to place our order and obtain water from a different bartender. It was only after this that the initial female bartender finally approached our table, asking if we needed anything. Considering the relatively small size of the establishment and the fact that there were only three occupied tables at the time, the level of inattentive and delayed service was particularly disappointing and, frankly, perplexing.

Update to first review below, rating updated from a 3 to a 5 star (drinks & bartender would get 10+…read morestars if we could rate that high): Saturday night: Went back for after dinner drinks at the Downstairs (a "speakeasy" throwback, look up the history of the place to see why). Drinks were AMAZING! Bartender Rob made the best Negroni I've ever had. I asked him to use whatever gin he thought best--result was an artistic smooooooth full-bodied drink. Told him when I was done I'd lick the glass if it wasn't considered so uncouth for a 'mature' lady like myself to do so Hubby's Buffalo Trace bourbon old fashioned was also outstanding. Rob was the bartender last night who did such a great job, and his work was even better tonight. We highly recommend The EsquireTavern for excellent cocktails. We love the long wood bar and high copper ceiling upstairs, but love the intimate speakeasy atmosphere downstairs even more. We'll definitely be back every time we're in San Antonio! First review, Friday night: Drinks were great (Manhattan and Bourbon Old Fashioned). REAL drinks, no complaints at all about those. And the bartenders were very friendly and helpful. Those aspects of the Esquire get 5+ stars from us. But the appetizers were not good, close to inedible. It was about 8:30pm or so, so maybe they were getting ready to close out the kitchen but the chalupitas with chicken tasted like rubber, and no flavor at all. The seafood platter had something in it that was breading with shell inside, but no meat of any kind. We couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be. The shrimp was good and the fish was good but those other things... We'll always love the drinks, the long wooden bar, and the ambiance at the Esquire Tavern, but we'll eat somewhere else and come here for before or after dinner drinks. (See update above to this review for when we returned the next night for after dinner drinks.)

However, if you come in from the street, you need to walk to the other side of the restaurant to get a table.. We ordered a limonada with prickly pear, fried quail, lamb burger, and bison burger. They came with a few spicy pickled veggies as a side. The limonada was as expected . I highly recommend a fried quails legs. We enjoy eating quails, but it's usually bittersweet relationship because of all the small bones however their appetizer for fried quail legs is super user-friendly. If you are scared of choking on small bones, these will not give you that kind of worry at all. We were impressed on how well-made and easily eaten they were. Our waiter was very friendly and he checked on us a few times. He was also the one that suggested the fried quail legs. We walked here .
