Hill & Vine was, without exaggeration, one of the most incredible dining experiences I've ever had. From the moment we arrived, everything felt special--the beautiful rustic setting, the welcoming atmosphere, the lively outdoor patio, and the genuine warmth of the staff. It has that rare combination of being polished and memorable while still feeling relaxed and distinctly Texas. The food was phenomenal. The cheeseburger was juicy, flavorful, and perfectly prepared, especially with the bacon jam. The cilantro pesto pasta was outstanding, with fresh vegetables and perfectly cooked shrimp. We also loved the chicken schnitzel, the burrata, and the black bean hummus--everything tasted fresh, generous, and thoughtfully prepared. The menu does an excellent job showcasing Texas comfort food with creative, seasonal touches. And dessert was unforgettable. The croissant bread pudding and blackberry crumble were absolutely incredible--rich, comforting, and generous enough to share, although I wouldn't blame anyone for keeping them all to themselves. The drinks and Texas wine selection were equally impressive, and the peach margarita is a must-try. What truly elevated the experience was the service. Our server was attentive, personable, and offered excellent recommendations without ever being intrusive. The entire team made us feel genuinely welcome, and the atmosphere--including the patio, music, and beautiful dining spaces--made it feel like far more than just a meal. Figure out which are the good ones and skip the others. Definitely order the margarita ceviche. Enough to split. Fresh fish, great flavor. Definitely order the fried pie. Enough for 3 to split. It's incredible with southern peach fried pie with flaky crust, pecan Ice cream and rum caramel sauce. The watermelon green tomato salad with goat cheese was dull. Not sure how they accomplished that given the ingredients, but I'd pass on that. The French onion soup was ok. Nothing memorable, not bad. The tri tip was again just ok. Too well-done and flavorless. Adorable restaurant with great outdoor seating. Unfortunately, it was about 100 degrees today so we did the smart thing by dining inside. Our server was amazing. She was very attentive and friendly. She kept checking up on us from beginning to end. My husband and I shared the onion rings (ranch chimichurri dip was to die for!) and a loaded wedge salad. Our entrees consisted of pork chop w/ risotto and chicken schnitzel. The schnitzel was nice and crispy. It came with a side salad. The place so good we went twice in one day. Our first visit for lunch was wonderful, eating out every meal on vacation is hard for us so I wanted something lighter midday. We had Kristen as our server, she was so attentive and sweet. To start we tried the sweet cornbread, lavender mint lemonade, and regular lemonade. The lavender mint lemonade was one of the best drinks I've had in a while. For our meals he had the BLTA with fries and I had the avocado and lime salad with tri tip steak. Absolutely stellar food, quality ingredients and great flavors. We had leftovers for sure, lol, something to eat on the drive back to DFW the next day. For dinner, we sat outside and had Jess as our server. She was also really nice, she had quite a few tables and still managed to give us plenty of attention. We had carnitas nachos and the ground beef soup. The carnitas nachos are... unnecessarily large. lol Luckily the soup bowl was very small so I was able to help the boyfriend with some nachos. But my small effort was not enough and he tapped out of the nachos at the halfway mark. Brianna was our server and she did a great job of taking care of us. One in our party had a drink. She ordered an Alstadt lager - a local beer. The rest of us had water. We started out with the Onion Rings appetizer. Wow - really yummy. They were large, crispy and served with 2 sauces. For dinner, my wife and I shared a Wedge Salad and the Bison Bolognese. The kitchen split the salad for us and we table split the Bolognese ourselves. Both the salad and the bolognese were great. Our friends split a grilled fish entree. We were really disappointed with our anniversary dinner experience. My husband ordered the tri-tip, and when ordering, the waiter stated it could only be prepared medium-rare or more well done -- not rarer -- and we placed the order based on that. When the dish arrived, however, the steak was clearly overcooked and closer to well done than medium-rare. When we raised the concern, the waiter claimed she had told us the meat would come out anywhere from medium-rare to well done due to how it sits in the warmer, and then suggested we must have misunderstood her initial explanation. This contradiction was frustrating and unprofessional, especially as it felt like our concern was being dismissed rather than addressed. Both the waiter and manager insisted the steak was cooked correctly, despite it clearly not being medium-rare. After we sent it back, they replaced it with a filet that was prepared properly. They did remove the original entrée from the bill, but then charged us for the filet at cost. Given the situation, it would have been more appropriate to simply substitute the filet at the original menu price. Unfortunately, my meal was also very underwhelming. The fish lacked flavor and was not enjoyable. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, especially for a special anniversary dinner. I will say -- the hummus plate was delightful. This place is more aesthetically pleasing and the food was quite average in my opinion. I ordered the sausage breakfast sandwich (on croissant) with a side of grits. My friends ordered the TX biscuit & gravy and the Texas Farm to Cast-Iron. My grits were too thick for my liking and I didn't even finish them (i love cheesy grits btw but these were not it. We were told that they can't seat a party that big outside together so we separated into 5 and 4, separate tables. The hostess was very curt about this and I found it off putting. Again, ok, but there was no need to be rude since that wasn't communicated with us. I was at a 4 top with my coworkers and we asked that the checks be separated. They said no since we were technically a party of 9. (We were not even at the table with 5 of the people) the server finally decided she could give each table a check.
