Cucumber vodka and Old Fashioned

Great place. Got there around 6pm on a chilly windy evening. There was a couple fitting outside by the fireplace. We went in. Nice bar. Lots of rooms. Lots of people. They have a good drink menu, around $12. Wonderful server at our table. We decided to try appetizers only. Got the Bang Bang shrimp. Delicious and on a bed of salad. Fried oysters and artichokes was another good dish. Also got an order of onion rings - homemade and delicious. Will come back again to try sitting outside.

Fried Green beans

My parents and I had a very good experience at Granite House recently. They are both "older" and can require extra patience from servers , but Maria did a great job of helping us that evening. The ceilings are low, the bar is boisterous and things can be a little loud. There is a patio area with fireplace that is a great respite from Main St. We shared some fried green beans and a Nee Orleans-style bbq shrimp to start. The order of green beans is massive and comes with a tasty dipping sauce. There are five big shrimp in the order, so be prepared to share accordingly. They do provide toast to soak up the yummy sauce. The chicken fried steaks are popular here and I can see why. Topped with a sunny side egg, the crust still stayed crispy and the portion was huge. We also had a Seafood Cobb salad , which my dad loved.

In town for the weekend and many people raved about this place so naturally I had to try it. I love the outdoor patio seating yet I enjoy the rustic indoor saloon and old home vibe of their dining area. It almost feels like 2 different restaurants. All of the staff are super friendly, welcoming and attentive. They just had a way of making you feel welcomed. I love thet you can order drinks outside while you wait for your table. We ordered a few things on the menu. Drinks: Lavender lemon drop 9/10 something about Lavender just works with this drink. Very fragrant floral and refreshing Appetizer: Spinach artichoke dip 4/10 it was way too cheesy and barely any artichoke. Very different than what we're accustomed to when eating this dip. Entrees: Red fish 8/10 the cook was perfect and the shrimp and andouille sausage sauce paired well with the fish Beef tips 8/10 tender with good down home flavor definitely nostaligc to Sunday dinner with the family Dessert: Bread pudding 6/10 it was huge. We were expecting it to be warm Overall a nice dining experience, cool decor, awesome staff and wonderful location Note that it's street parking and reservations are highly encouraged

Bang bang shrimp and fish & chips

Lovely little place with a great atmosphere. Service was great and we were sat quickly. We split a Cesar salad to start, I had the bang bang shrimp and hubby had fish and chips. Everything was good and cooked well. Draught beer selection was a little limited, but found something easily. Will definitely be back again!

Calamari & Artichokes

Granite House is a low lit (kind of romantic) atmosphere, inside of what looks like an old restored house. Definitely family friendly, but also date night friendly. We were quoted a 30 minute wait, but we only waited about 10 minutes. Our server was awesome! She recommended some great options and we tried a lot of different things as a group. The fried calamari with the artichokes was great. Well seasoned, a large portion and pretty tender all around. The spinach dip was mostly just cheese with a hint of spinach lol. Cool if that's what you like, I know I do. For entrees... My friend got the pork chop and WOW, it was so good. The sauce is everything! Highly recommend. My other friends had fried options, chicken fried chicken and fried seafood. Both really good flavor. And finally, I had the pasta with shrimp and mussels. Also, very good flavor but it was a little too salty for my liking. Overall, I would go back and try more.

If you're looking for a great outdoor patio for an evening drink - this is the place. Attentive service, great cocktails, and appetizers to nibble.

Food and drinks were delicious! It did take a while to get seated but that's expected in a tourist town. Great service! We got seated outside and it was a beautiful evening! Would come again!

Food was excellent. Ambience on the patio was quiet and relaxing. They have lots of pecan trees and white fairy lights which makes it feel fun and magical. Food came out FAST and I was a bit worried because of how quickly it arrived but it was very good. Prices are a little high for what you get but it's a tourist town. Great service. No complaints.

Chicken Marsala Fried!

Today, my wife and I went for dinner right after checking into our hotel. The restaurant was just a three-minute walk away. When we arrived, the hostess seated us promptly without any wait. We chose to sit inside, though there is outdoor seating available, which seemed quite popular on this perfect July day in Texas. Our waiter was very attentive, ensuring we had enough water and were ready for more cocktails if needed. My wife ordered the chicken Marsala, and I had the chicken fried steak. Both dishes came with green beans, carrots, and mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were especially delicious and complemented the meals well. The cocktails were also excellent, though they were potent enough to sneak up on you if you had too many! Overall, my wife and I had a fantastic time and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the area. The Southern flavors were spot on!

Ask the Community - Granite House Lounge

Do they accept to go orders?

Is this family friendly?

I would say it is, but remember you are at a $$$ to $$$$ restaurant. The customer service was great & I am sure they can accommodate.

Do they seat parties larger than 8?

Yes they do. However I do recommend making a reservation. There are prob 2/3 areas that will accommodate a party that size.

Like a lot of people, we were there for a bachelorette weekend, and it ended up being one of the highlights of the trip. Brooke herself was there managing the crowd, and you can tell she genuinely cares about the guest experience and making sure everything is running smoothly. I can't speak to the negative owner comments as I didn't encounter her, but they seemed to be doing fine in her absence. I can definitely see how some might feel a little uneasy here, as if you don't "fit the vibe" you will look and feel largely out of place which is unfortunate. Granted, that's kind of a Fredericksburg thing in general. Long story short, if you want a place that is gram worthy - this is the dream location. If you want to be relaxed and have a slower more inviting pace, look elsewhere.

After hearing that they are well known for their little B&Bs this one stood out among the rest for our weekend trip. We were going to be visiting on our 15th anniversary and lucky for us they still had some Saturday night reservations a few weeks before our trip. We originally had the Evening Star reserved but a lovely woman from the reception reached out to us upon seeing our reservation and asked if we wanted to be upgraded to the Weber House - for no additional charge! This was an absolute yes! What a nice gesture since they knew it was our anniversary - based on the questionnaire during check out. Some of the buildings are split with multiple room offerings- like the main hall- the Weber House however we stayed in was just us. We had a cute porch, living room, kitchen, bedroom, hugeeee bathroom with clawfoot tub and a screened in outdoor porch. Some of the bigger houses you can rent have room for multiple people but ours was intended for 2 people. They also have a cute library with some books and DVDs you can borrow. The property itself was VERY quiet. When we arrived we checked in at the little office upfront. The girl working even walked us to our little house since we had never been on the property before. Whoever stayed at the house the night before had broken the glass on the little table in the kitchen which was a bummer, so we could not use that, and maintenance was off on weekends. But otherwise it was the cute quaint place. Bed was comfy, central AC even though the buildings themselves pre-date that. Each one is unique too! We especially liked sitting on the screened in porch at night and enjoying a bottle of wine. In the morning they promptly left breakfast in a basket at 9am at our doorstep that was home cooked. It was a very sweet inn.

My wife and I biked the Willow City Loop, and we were able to leave straight from the Hoffman Haus without any issues. We enjoyed the atmosphere - it looks like a house-turned-bar and has so much charm. We were able to place our orders at the bar and one of the bartenders brought it out to us in the backyard. We sipped on our delicious drinks while rocking on the swinging bench outside. We decided to share the volcano ashes and floating petals cocktails. The volcano ashes was a bit too bitter for my taste - if you're someone who wants very little sweetness in your drink, this is the one for you. The floating petals was much more my style - the mix of floral tastes was lovely and it was on the slightly sweeter end, just how I like it! We decided on two sangrias after that which were nicely spiced and absolutely lovely. As it got colder outside we decided to move to one of their side rooms, which has nice furniture and is a bit more private than the main room. The bartenders were very kind and the drinks were delicious! Definitely check this spot out on your next visit to Fredericksburg.
