Highly recommended. On my first visit I had a low-key excellent greeting from the owner. He didn't hover or ask if I knew what I was doing. I made sure it was OK for me to go the humidor with my small service dog, and then enjoyed looking at a really unique and out of the ordinary selection of cigars a great selection of JC Newman and other famous brands. When I asked for some help/advice he was cool with that too. my senior lady status was not a problem at all. I drop by for a couple of cigars every time I'm in Fredericksburg. read more

I was surprised to find this cigar lounge. The atmosphere was great. They had a great selection of cigars. I will definitely return.

I am not a cigar smoker, but my husband is, so we stopped in here while on vacation in the area. We liked it so much we came back later in the week. The interior is dark and cozy with huge comfortable chairs. They have wifi too. We sat and read our books for a good while and relaxed. Husband bought a few cigars and smoked one while we were there, and we each had a drink (they have a full bar) and enjoyed the quiet. The ventilation system seems to be quite good as there wasn't a heavy amount of smoke in the lounge and the smell was not overpowering. read more

We walked in as we wanted to get some cigars for our friend's birthday. Since I have no idea about flavors, I sent in my husband. He was immediately greeted and he went to the cigar room. He popped out his head out, asking for some Texas brands. Not only was he helped quickly but we were taken care of as these are a gift and will be traveling back to California. The service was great! In Fredericksburg for a quick getaway with the wife. After having an early dinner on a Saturday night we were looking for a place we could just sit and chill - thankfully she was open to visiting Tabak Haus. Was very impressed with this quaint little lounge; it seems like it's a perfect fit for the area. The walk-in humidor was well stocked with all the usual suspects. The bar was lacking a little - she wanted an amaretto sour but they didn't have any sour mix. I did have a well poured TX and Coke that met all my needs. The ventilation was great but there were minimal smokers in the lounge area (6 including us). Seating was well, very well, broken in but comfortable. Another reviewer wrote this is very male dominated. I couldn't agree more. I was shopping for a gift for my brother and felt like I was a complete irritant to the man helping me. His tone, facial expressions (or lack of), body posture and general lack of interest all conveyed..."I couldn't care less about your business." At one point, I said something to him, just trying to make conversation and he literally ignored me. It sucked. I was excited to find something special for my brother and this place took the wind out of my sails. If you're a woman looking for a cigar, maybe try the other cigar shop in town. There are some spots that you love so much and know it's the right thing to put that review out there, so their business increases and is more "seen", but we love this spot so much and never want to see it "packed" when we go. lol The owner is great! In town for a few days and stumbled on the Tabak Haus. Although it is right in the middle of "tourist central", this is a legit cigar shop/lounge. Nicely stocked and maintained humidor. There were cigars for the budget minded, as well as quite a few really quality selections. The prices are a bit expensive, but still less than the average tourist area. There are three specific seating areas, totaling about fifteen very comfortable lounge chairs. Not sure where he got some of the chairs from, but they certainly have a genuine patina on them. It took a lot of butts to make those chairs what they are. They have a really decent selection of liquor, some nice local wines and bottled beer ranging from the tame to some high octane brews. The service was exactly how I like it. Professional and friendly, but not overly so. The guy working the counter, who I am guessing is an owner, knows his stuff. Highly recommend. read more

Went here after dinner on a Saturday night, around 8:30 pm. There was only one other couple in the place but over the course of the three hours we were there a good amount of people came and went. My boyfriend wanted a medium bodied cigar and the owner recommended Leaf by Oscar. My bf opted for the coroja of the recommended brand. He was very happy with it. I had a couple glasses of wine and he opted for whiskey. Bob, the owner, had a wide selection of both. We sank into the uber comfortable leather chairs, which were very old Welsh pub chairs, making it the perfect setting to end our night. We chatted with Bob for a bit and he is friendly and knowledgeable. We will definitely be back next time in Fredericksburg! read more

A good cigar lounge must, in my opinion, have 4 key things that make it worthwhile and will make me a repeat customer. First and foremost is a good selection of cigars. Second is an ambiance that invites and supports good, comfortable conversation without the need to yell or fight the TV or stereo to be heard. Third is a decent selection of adult beverages (but not expected to compete with a bar) and fourth, a friendly and knowledgeable staff. We were glad to have found a close by cigar lounge in Fredericksburg. They're not easy to come by especially with a little history inside. You'll find some antique leather chairs inside. Though falling apart, it's cool to see them. Every table next to a chair has an ashtray and lighter. Inside is a smell of a little smoke but filtered out well. Mostly you'll probably notice more of a cologne scent which was great. Very manly inside which will suit men and also lady smokers who enjoy leather and dark interiors. The humidor is decked with various cigars and I was happy to see actual Tabak cigars. It's not even easy to find those in lounges. There's a bar and the owner will cut your cigar but if you don't like a flat cut, jump in before they're cut. I prefer a smaller cut and when I came back from the restroom, I noticed it was cut and ready to light. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a strong smoke because of it and instead decided to let it die out at more than half the cigar left and bought another, cut my own and continued smoking. Sitting outside was nice. Sit upstairs or down and enjoy people watching and watching the cars go by. It's a good place to end the day that was full of heavy food and shopping. read more
