We kicked off our bachelorette trip with brunch at Sunset Grill, and while it didn't blow us away, it was a solid start to a fun weekend! First, the vibes: the restaurant is cozy and charming -- exactly the kind of spot you'd want for a relaxed girls' brunch. Our waitress was sweet, attentive, and made us feel right at home from the moment we sat down. Now, the food was a bit of a mixed bag. The bacon? Absolutely on point -- crispy, savory, no notes. And the Mexican coffee was a delightful surprise -- rich, flavorful, and the perfect way to ease into the morning. The French toast had a great foundation, but I was hoping for more of a true banana foster experience -- caramelized, charred bananas with a glossy glaze. Instead, the bananas came as-is, which felt like a missed opportunity to really elevate the dish. A little time in the pan would go a long way! The breakfast potatoes were the low point -- they came out a little overcooked and underseasoned, which is an easy fix but made them hard to get excited about. Overall, Sunset Grill has a lot of charm and the service was genuinely warm.

Loved it! It's been a number of years since our last visit. At that time, they were in a different location. This location is SO much better. Lots of seating - indoors and outdoors. Dog friendly outdoors too. The service - wow. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. Our server, Maria A was amazing. We arrived about 9:30 AM on a Monday morning. Being a holiday, Presidents' Day, it was quite busy. I thought we'd have to wait quite a while but surprisingly there were some open tables inside. Being a nice sunny morning a lot of the outdoor seating was pretty full. Our party of four was seated quickly. Water came, followed quickly by coffee. Someone was always making the rounds with the coffee pot. That was nice. My wife and I shared a breakfast as follows: - California omelette with sourdough toast - Single pancake with blueberries I'd say the omelette was decent. Four out of five. It had good flavor. The way they make them here is slightly dry, but still decent. Next time I'll ask for mine to be less dry on the outside. The pancake was really good. Nice and fluffy and flavorful. We're so happy we returned to Sunset Grill for breakfast this year and we look forward to eating there on our next visit to Fredericksburg.

This became our go to brunch spot when we are in Fredricksburg. We were seated immediately because they have a ton of tables, which is a huge plus in this town. We sat on the dog-friendly patio and the service was incredibly quick. The food was 10/10--everything tasted so fresh. I highly recommend the Señorita Omelette (it's loaded with veggies and super flavorful) and the Avocado Toast, which was absolute fire. Don't skip the fresh-squeezed juices! Plus, plenty of parking out front made the whole experience stress-free.

Sunsetter Eggs Benedict

My wife & I spent 3 days in Fredericksburg for our anniversary & hit up Sunset Grill for brunch one day. I'm a big fan of eggs benedict, so I tried Sunset's "sunsetter benedict" & was not disappointed. The surprise of the dish was the house-made country potatoes that came as a side. They were crisped up just right with the perfect amount of salt & pepper for a simple seasoning. It may be hard to tell from the photos, but the Sunsetter is bigger than most other eggs benedict platters I've had. Many places use English muffins that I'd say are baseball sized, but these were more like softball sized. My wife enjoyed her eggs & bacon platter as well, with 3 strips of thick cut applewood smoked bacon & the same country potatoes. All in all I'd go back to Sunset Grill in a heartbeat on my next visit to Fredericksburg. It's a great food spot with great service IMO!

The Josephine plate

Such a delicious brunch spot! Very busy but worth the wait. Efficient and very nice server. The menu is well rounded and quality. Casual and bright interior with outside seating. My Josephine was a perfect amount of savory & sweet with a fried egg, ham, biscuit, and the best fig jam! Coffee was dark roast and delicious. There is a nice menu of hot and cold coffee drink options also. A total local gem.

The food was absolutely superb; simple, fresh ingredients executed to perfection. The margarita was excellent. It was well-balanced, smooth, and neither too sweet nor too strong. The service was prompt, polite, and professional, making the entire experience even more enjoyable. We sat outside and it was so nice with the breeze and the shade.

Salted Caramel Latte and Black Coffee

Family ate here before going on our Enchanted Rock adventure. I could have stayed just to try all of their different coffee options alone! The space is smaller than what we are used to, but it's not bad. We appreciated how clean and bright everything was. Next time we will try out the patio seating- it looked so inviting even with the heaters but we sat inside this time.

Carlsbad

The ratings suggested that this would be a great way to end our weekend in Fredericksburg. The predicted 15 minute wait turned out to only be 10, so off to a good start. The 'bennies' all looked interesting, and we ended up with 2 Josephine and 1 Carlsbad. The orders came out quickly. The eggs were all done well (not "well done"), perfectly runny. One of Josephines was good, although it could have used more brie. The other Josephine was not even hot. Our guess is that because the place is so busy, they queue up some of the popular orders and then they're ready to go. We should have sent it back. The Carlsbad was a unique (to me) take, and the crab cake itself was good. The combination was interesting but didn't become exceptional until I used the lemon that came with my tea to add a little acid to the dish. (I suggested to the server that this would be a great addition to the standard plating.) If we return, we'll be a bit bolder with possible returns.

Come with time to spare because this place is always packed - and that should tell you everything! We initially asked about the wait time and were told 45 minutes. We were starving and considered going somewhere else, but decided to give it a try. We ended up waiting a bit longer than expected, but it was absolutely worth it! The food was delicious - we ordered burgers and they were amazing. Despite how busy and chaotic it was with the crowd, our server was super attentive and friendly throughout our meal. I love that the food was on point and fresh, and the staff remained so pleasant even during the rush. Definitely recommend, just plan ahead for the wait or avoid weekends!

Egg & Bacon (potatoes & toast included). Just look at those golden yolks.

American bistro with a lively menu. The restaurant is light & airy. Patio available. Service is quick and friendly. I love the water carafe at the table, very convenient. I had the classic Egg & Bacon Breakfast, and the sunny-side up was picture-perfect. Bacon was thick and crisp---4 pieces so I had to share! The potatoes were just like Gramma made in her cast iron skillet. Don't get me started on the sourdough toast. My partner chose the Lumberjack Omelette--it arrived as advertised with 'all the meats': bacon, sausage, ham, chorizo. He lapped it up, before accepting my extra bacon. Yes, he suffered the meat sweats later but insists10/10 he'd do it again. Even though the place was packed, the service was very attentive. We will definitely return when in the area. Try it, you will not be disappointed.

Kailey our waitress was phenomenal such amazing energy. So welcoming and personable. We stopped in town and had to try this place for brunch. I ordered the Bourbon street Benedict 9/10 enjoyed the Louisiana flavors and it had a decent amount of shrimp. Wish there was more hollandaise sauce Friends ordered: Banana pecan pancakes 8.5/10 pancakes were soft but wish they were more fluffy French toast 6/10 it was just French toast nothing special about it Avocado toast 10/10 it was fresh and light and nice balance of ingredients. Drinks: Mangorita so refreshing and nice balance of sweetness The sunset was underwhelming! Strong champagne if youre a champagne person yet the blueberry and pomegranate didnt really shine. I thought by the name it would be a pretty drink. This is a cute place that offers farm to table. Offering both indoor and outdoor seating options with friendly welcoming staff and a good variety of food options. A must try for this quaint town

Sunset Grill came highly recommend for breakfast/brunch! We had the eggs benedict and the french toast! The mix of sweet and savory was the perfect combination to start our day before visiting the winery. The servers were super friendly and efficient! They turned over tables quickly to make wait times minimal to nonexistent. The restaurant is comfortable but small! There is plenty of patio seating as well but the TX heat can make it hard to sit outside after 10 AM.

Everything was so tasty! They have a parking lot so easy parking. We were seated quickly. Loved that they have a carafe of water on each table so you don't run out. My eggs were cooked just as requested :)

Delicious dressing and salad!

Are Pets allowed?

Yes, the open air patio allows pets. Large dogs may not be allowed in some areas because of spacing issues.

Is it safe to dine or order takeout there? I really wanna eat there as I saw so many good reviews telling how tasty their foods are... but I also see most reviews that mentioned Covid protocols are negative.. any updates on their protection…

Do they have mimosas on brunch? And how much? Going on Sunday

Yes! We serve mimosas during brunch! They’re $7 each and we have a few different flavors that include OJ, Blueberry Pomegranate, Tropical and Grapefruit. We unfortunately can’t serve until 10am on Sunday with food due to Texas state law.

Unfortunately, this experience felt less like a restaurant opening and more like a dress rehearsal no one stopped. First problem: location confusion. We went to what turned out to be their second spot--which, crucially, was not called Nurys on the sign. Same ownership, new space, old identity crisis. Walking in felt like entering a building that hadn't yet decided what it wanted to be when it grew up. The lingering aroma? A strange duet of fish, antiseptic, and industrial cleaning agents. Not hunger-inducing. More "urgent care with a fryer." There was no one there, which made sense--it was between brunch and lunch--but somehow the wait for food felt disproportionately long for what arrived. What arrived, sadly, was mediocrity wearing a Tex-Mex costume. They seemed to be aiming for Tex-Mex but landed somewhere closer to Tex-Flex--stretching flavors thin until they snapped. The barbacoa was fatty in a way that suggested less "slow-cooked tradition" and more "glistening regret." It didn't taste authentic, or even especially intentional. Just heavy. The guacamole--perhaps the most unforgivable offense--was bad. Guacamole is avocados, salt, lime, and love. That's it. This had none of the above. The waitstaff wasn't rude, exactly--just possessed by the clear energy of people who would prefer you to finish quickly so they could resume their real lives. Hospitality should feel like an invitation, not a countdown. Now, maybe the original Nurys is wonderful. I hope it is. But if that's the case, why open a second location only to phone it in? Expansion should mean excellence multiplied, not care divided. There are too many good places in Fredericksburg doing things right to settle for something half-hearted. This one wasn't terrible--it was worse. It was forgettable. And that's the real disappointment.

Right away, the service felt off. Our waitress didn't even ask if we wanted drinks before jumping straight to, "Are you ready to order food?" Then she disappeared for long periods, even though we were basically her only table besides one other couple. The food was extremely underwhelming -- basic, barely warm, and nothing memorable. On top of that, there were so many flies inside that we were nonstop swatting them away. And to make matters worse, there was a bug in my drink when it was served to me. That was pretty much the final straw. Overall, a very forgettable and disappointing experience. We probably won't come again, and I would not recommend it.
