Self serve salsa bar. Upper right corner authentic guac.
Heidy V.

Service was great, the restaurant was clean and the workers were very welcoming. The food was 20/10! We tried their tacos: Al pastor, bistec/sirloin and carnitas. The Al pastor was on a very traditional trompo and perfectly seasoned. Carnitas was tender and juicy. The bistec was seasoned well as well. We had a 3 street tacos plate and 5 street tacos plate. Each plate came with a cooked small potato portion and grilled onions. They also have a self serve small salsa bar. This salsa bar has guacamole- that you can help yourself to! (Which btw is unheard of! No place gives you free rein to some authentic guac!) We also tried their watermelon agua fresca it was 8/10 - too pricey imo for the taste and the horchata as well. We were in town from Austin for 2 days and ate here both days! I couldn't go back to Austin without my al pastor taco fix!

We stopped at Taqueria Machetes on Sunday before driving back to Houston from Fredericksburg. First things first--the guacamole was amazing. We kept going back to the salsa bar for more because it was that good. This is not a full-service restaurant. You walk in, order at the counter, get a buzzer, grab your food, eat, and head out--very casual and straightforward. Definitely more of a quick stop than a sit-down dining experience. I ordered the chorizo breakfast taco, and it was tasty and huge. Honestly, I should've just ordered one taco because it was very filling. The barbacoa taco, however, was not for me. The meat was very fatty and still had connective tissue, which wasn't visually appealing, so I didn't eat it and ended up giving it away. Overall, the guacamole and chorizo taco were the highlights for me. If you're stopping through and want something quick before hitting the road, it's worth checking out--just be mindful of what you order.

10/10, so glad we found this place while walking in downtown Fredericksburg! Everything we got was amazing! Loved my burrito with that avocado crema sauce. The corn was so good. My hubby loved his tacos, the lengua was his fave. The owner and staff were all super nice and it definitely feels like a family owned business. Will definitely return on our next visit to Fredericksburg.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Excellent tacos! Had the breakfast tacos and they are amazing. Made fresh. Great salsa bar Great service. Cool ambiance.

This place is legit. The salsa bar is immaculate and very generous with several options including aguamole (& guacamole!) along with some spicy traditional salsas and a pico de gallo. They have a well stocked bar with several choices of Mexican spirits and cervezas. I really enjoyed my birria torta and my colleague got some sort of nacho looking plate: but it looked huge and he said the pastor was delicious. The service was friendly and we will definitely return when back in Fredericksburg. It's awesome that they have a proper taqueria that's so accessible right on the main drag in walking distance to everything. It's definitely in the style of some Mexico City taquerias I've visited: with the tiles, clean kitchen, and streamlined atmosphere.

Man this place did not disappoint came from Dallas to visit and sightsee and found this gem and boy it was amazing. The food was fresh and hot. But the salsas were freaking amazing. The staff was great very friendly and polite. The ambiance was great great Spanish music playing loud enough to enjoy and low enough to talk. Great place a good place to come and eat.

Awesome watermelon jalapeño margaritas and breakfast tacos. Friendly counter service. Tantalizing salsa bar. Good spot to take a rest and enjoy some legit tacos.

This place was exactly what I wanted from a small taco spot on Main Street. As you walk in you instantly know what you're getting. A high quality, juicy, flavorful masterpiece. The chairs were comfortable, the walls were decorated with paintings and lights. And best of all nothing was sticky! The staff were kind and very thoughtful when ordering, they were patient when I was tho king what to order. And finally the food, the best part of the whole experience. I ordered a Chorizo Taco, and when I say this is one of, but not the best tacos I've ever eaten. The juice of the meat was just oozing out of the taco giving it a nice flavorful texture to the meat. My only gripe with this restaurant is that I didn't get more. Overall this place deserves its 5 stars, and I want to go back already!

If there was room for a six star, we would definitely select it! This place is great. Great service is an understatement very very clean and courteous, and all you can eat salsa bar/cucumbers, etc. highly recommend. PS don't forget to get Cadillac margarita you won't regret it to go!

I didn't think you could mess up a potato, egg and cheese taco but I was wrong! My husband picked up a couple of tacos to go. When I took a bite I was shocked to see there was cream cheese in their taco. ‍ I took a couple of more bites because I was starving and I was open to trying something new but to make things worse the taco had ONE potato! I was I incredibly disappointed, I definitely won't be going back again. If you go please check your tacos before leaving the restaurant. They might throw in cream cheese even though we didn't ask for it!

The BEST tacos are on Main Street! Reasonable price for good quality food. We had the pastor and grilled steak. Service was quick and friendly. The place is small with little seating but worth the wait.

The breakfast tacos weren't my favorite (too much egg), but the street taco options for lunch and dinner made up for it.

Unfortunately, this experience felt less like a restaurant opening and more like a dress rehearsal no one stopped. First problem: location confusion. We went to what turned out to be their second spot--which, crucially, was not called Nurys on the sign. Same ownership, new space, old identity crisis. Walking in felt like entering a building that hadn't yet decided what it wanted to be when it grew up. The lingering aroma? A strange duet of fish, antiseptic, and industrial cleaning agents. Not hunger-inducing. More "urgent care with a fryer." There was no one there, which made sense--it was between brunch and lunch--but somehow the wait for food felt disproportionately long for what arrived. What arrived, sadly, was mediocrity wearing a Tex-Mex costume. They seemed to be aiming for Tex-Mex but landed somewhere closer to Tex-Flex--stretching flavors thin until they snapped. The barbacoa was fatty in a way that suggested less "slow-cooked tradition" and more "glistening regret." It didn't taste authentic, or even especially intentional. Just heavy. The guacamole--perhaps the most unforgivable offense--was bad. Guacamole is avocados, salt, lime, and love. That's it. This had none of the above. The waitstaff wasn't rude, exactly--just possessed by the clear energy of people who would prefer you to finish quickly so they could resume their real lives. Hospitality should feel like an invitation, not a countdown. Now, maybe the original Nurys is wonderful. I hope it is. But if that's the case, why open a second location only to phone it in? Expansion should mean excellence multiplied, not care divided. There are too many good places in Fredericksburg doing things right to settle for something half-hearted. This one wasn't terrible--it was worse. It was forgettable. And that's the real disappointment.

I didn't care for it. We were a large party and sat immediately, which was nice, and the restaurant…read morewas calm and nearly empty for a Sunday but honestly, there's a reason it was so dead. Right away, the service felt off. Our waitress didn't even ask if we wanted drinks before jumping straight to, "Are you ready to order food?" Then she disappeared for long periods, even though we were basically her only table besides one other couple. The food was extremely underwhelming -- basic, barely warm, and nothing memorable. On top of that, there were so many flies inside that we were nonstop swatting them away. And to make matters worse, there was a bug in my drink when it was served to me. That was pretty much the final straw. Overall, a very forgettable and disappointing experience. We probably won't come again, and I would not recommend it.

Outdoor bar & restrooms available too. The inside is clean, bright, upscale comfortable vibes. Multiple seating options and a private room available. Large menu. I enjoyed the 1/2 sandwich combo with BLTA and salad. The sourdough was buttery deliciousness! Sturdy enough to hold up the thick bacon, lettuce, tomato, mashed avocado and had a light layer of aioli that I appreciated did not take over the sandwich. The salad was light, tasty, & the glazed pecans were a special treat. The other dishes enjoyed were the Texas Triple and 1/2 Chicken salad sandwich with potato corn soup. This a wonderful place that you should try when in the area. They don't take reservations unless you're George Strait. My husband ordered the tri-tip,…read moreand when ordering, the waiter stated it could only be prepared medium-rare or more well done -- not rarer -- and we placed the order based on that. When the dish arrived, however, the steak was clearly overcooked and closer to well done than medium-rare. When we raised the concern, the waiter claimed she had told us the meat would come out anywhere from medium-rare to well done due to how it sits in the warmer, and then suggested we must have misunderstood her initial explanation. This contradiction was frustrating and unprofessional, especially as it felt like our concern was being dismissed rather than addressed. Both the waiter and manager insisted the steak was cooked correctly, despite it clearly not being medium-rare. After we sent it back, they replaced it with a filet that was prepared properly. They did remove the original entrée from the bill, but then charged us for the filet at cost. Given the situation, it would have been more appropriate to simply substitute the filet at the original menu price. Unfortunately, my meal was also very underwhelming. The fish lacked flavor and was not enjoyable. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, especially for a special anniversary dinner. I will say -- the hummus plate was delightful. Light and great flavor for an appetizer. The drinks were also very good too.

We stumbled upon Los Tios the last time we were there and decided we had to try. Immediately upon entering we noticed the beautiful decor, inviting bar area and comfortable seating throughout the restaurant. Our complimentary chips and salsa were already spread throughout our table upon seating along with menus which I really appreciated. Usually we have to wait for both at many restaurants so it was nice touch. We did call ahead and make reservations so I'm not sure if they do this only for reservations or for everybody , but regardless it was nice to sit down and start eating as some of us were hungry after the drive there ! I ordered a skinny margarita , queso (didn't get a pic but the chips that come with it reminded us of a thick soapapilla chip but not as sweet - they were DELICIOUS but you cannot order a bigger order of them), and combo #5. The puffy queso was delightful. I couldn't wait to try one. San Antonio used to have something similar at a Mexican restaurant that shut down so I loved that they had these ! It's their specialty apparently, highly recommend trying. My young kiddos and entire family enjoyed their food. We all tried a little bit of everything.
