I recommend the #14 under steak and beef. It has shrimp, chicken and beef on an iron skillet. Very yummy

Open, but crowded on Mondays (the only other restaurant is closed). Outdoor seating, and service, good tea sweet or unsweetened. Lunch specials are $8.99 include drink, options are basically 4-5 different enchilada options, carne guisada, or tacos. Food is well-seasoned, but not overpowering. They appear to have a full bar and beer selection. Pay at counter. This place (Harper, TX) is growing with a lot of out of town guests and transplants, but seems to have a "not-just locals only" welcome feel.

Meeting our parents for lunch and must say that this meal was outstanding! The service beats all others out there as well!

Best Margaritas anywhere around! Compared to San Diego's finest Mexican eatery's, this Tres Portillos ranks right up there! Great service by an amazing family, this place cannot be beat!

Celebrating Spring a day early! This is our new favorite place in Harper! Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Sitting outside under the oak trees with country music playing is just heaven!

I genuinely wanted to like Nurys on Main. I really did. Hope springs eternal, especially in…read moreFredericksburg, where good food is usually a sure bet. Unfortunately, this experience felt less like a restaurant opening and more like a dress rehearsal no one stopped. First problem: location confusion. We went to what turned out to be their second spot--which, crucially, was not called Nurys on the sign. Same ownership, new space, old identity crisis. Walking in felt like entering a building that hadn't yet decided what it wanted to be when it grew up. The lingering aroma? A strange duet of fish, antiseptic, and industrial cleaning agents. Not hunger-inducing. More "urgent care with a fryer." There was no one there, which made sense--it was between brunch and lunch--but somehow the wait for food felt disproportionately long for what arrived. What arrived, sadly, was mediocrity wearing a Tex-Mex costume. They seemed to be aiming for Tex-Mex but landed somewhere closer to Tex-Flex--stretching flavors thin until they snapped. The barbacoa was fatty in a way that suggested less "slow-cooked tradition" and more "glistening regret." It didn't taste authentic, or even especially intentional. Just heavy. The guacamole--perhaps the most unforgivable offense--was bad. Guacamole is avocados, salt, lime, and love. That's it. This had none of the above. The waitstaff wasn't rude, exactly--just possessed by the clear energy of people who would prefer you to finish quickly so they could resume their real lives. Hospitality should feel like an invitation, not a countdown. Now, maybe the original Nurys is wonderful. I hope it is. But if that's the case, why open a second location only to phone it in? Expansion should mean excellence multiplied, not care divided. There are too many good places in Fredericksburg doing things right to settle for something half-hearted. This one wasn't terrible--it was worse. It was forgettable. And that's the real disappointment.

I didn't care for it. We were a large party and sat immediately, which was nice, and the restaurant…read morewas calm and nearly empty for a Sunday but honestly, there's a reason it was so dead. Right away, the service felt off. Our waitress didn't even ask if we wanted drinks before jumping straight to, "Are you ready to order food?" Then she disappeared for long periods, even though we were basically her only table besides one other couple. The food was extremely underwhelming -- basic, barely warm, and nothing memorable. On top of that, there were so many flies inside that we were nonstop swatting them away. And to make matters worse, there was a bug in my drink when it was served to me. That was pretty much the final straw. Overall, a very forgettable and disappointing experience. We probably won't come again, and I would not recommend it.

They started us out with fresh pita with a small sampler plate with Lemon Kavush, Tahini, Matbuha, and Shug (on the house). All were excellent. We ordered "Hummus the Works" which included caramelized onions, parsley, Grilled Beef and Lamb. The flavor of the hummus and the beef were great. Highly recommended with the fresh pita bread. I think I licked the plate clean with the remaining pita bread. I also ordered the Baba Ghanoush and it tasted like the eggplant was smoked on a grille, an extra touch. We also ordered the "Wine Short Rib Cigars" and that was a table favorite as well. My son ordered the kids Pita Bread Pizza and he seemed to eat the entire thing including the crust. Generally he only eats the cheesy parts of the pizza and avoids the edge crust. I will try to go back during dinner time to try their dinner Menu.

Cafe Dimona describes itself as Mediterranean (3 mentions on the www site, including "heart of…read moreMediterranean cuisine"), but it is better described as "Israeli." The menu is limited, which could be a good thing since it indicates that they're cooking from scratch, but it's also unnecessarily limited. For example, the schnitzel, which is apparently very good, is not available for dinner - only lunch. Because it's a small place, they can easily run out of items. We (usually) like lamb, and the kebab with couscous looked like a good choice. However, the couscous was very bland and we wished the same for the lamb. Rolled into 3 turd-like pieces, it had an odd flavor and a strong latent heat that took away from the rest of the dish. The eggplant baladi was a whole eggplant cooked to mush, swimming in oil and covered with a ton of cilantro (like almost everything else - moderation would have helped). The hummus with the works apparently had lamb and beef, but the cooked-to-dryness pile of meat made it impossible to distinguish and the cilantro was excessive. The hummus itself was great and the bread was very good. Overall, aside from the service and the hummus, the experience was (hopefully) forgettable.

Social House -- Breakfast Done Right (Just... Very Close Together)…read more Social House is the kind of breakfast place that reminds you why brunch became a lifestyle in the first place. The food is genuinely good--thoughtful, fresh, and clearly made by people who care about flavor and your well-being. This is "healthy but not sad" breakfast, the kind that lets you feel virtuous without punishing you for it. The menu is strong across the board. Everything tastes intentional, balanced, and well-executed. You can tell someone in the kitchen understands restraint, texture, and the delicate art of making vegetables feel like a reward. Is it slightly overpriced? Yes. But it's the kind of overpriced you accept with a nod, because the plate in front of you earns most of it. The place is busy--very busy--but that's just life when a restaurant does things well. People show up. The issue isn't the crowd; it's the compression. Social House packs people in like a breakfast Tetris game. Tables are close enough that you accidentally learn about strangers' weekend plans, dietary restrictions, and relationship problems. It's communal in a way no one asked for. And that's really the only thing holding it back from five-star territory. The experience never quite gets to breathe. The food wants you to linger. The room says, "Eat joyfully, but quickly." Still, the staff handles the chaos with professionalism and grace, and the overall vibe remains warm and welcoming despite the controlled madness. This is a place that knows what it is: a popular, well-run, genuinely good breakfast spot that feeds a lot of people very well. Bottom line: if you want a healthy, tasty, reliably excellent breakfast and don't mind sharing oxygen with half of Austin, Social House delivers. Give me two fewer tables and I'd never stop going--but even as is, it's absolutely worth the visit.

So great to see they treat both locals and new guys with the same kindness and respect. When I asked if there was a jukebox by chance the guy (I believe Skylar) said "No but what do you want to hear?" I asked for some Stevie Nicks and he said no problem. I didn't expect any of that and was overjoyed to hear some Stevie over the speakers. What cool people here! The patrons at the front gave me recommendations on good spots and were very welcoming. I ended up with a Spicy Italian. This one had a nice kick but not overpowering and a generous size along with some coleslaw and a pickle. I couldn't quite finish it all. I'm kicking myself for forgetting my left overs. Oh well, that's a great excuse to go back and enjoy this awesome food/vibe all over again.
