Initially, the hostess told us they couldn't accommodate our party, but then they changed their mind. The interaction felt uncomfortable, as she emphasized their policies for large groups and mentioned that they normally require a minimum of $145 per person. She ultimately allowed us to bypass that requirement as long as everyone ordered an entrée. Our waitress, however, was wonderful and provided excellent service throughout the meal. I ordered the clam and mussel pot, which I found surprisingly bland, though the bread was delicious. The rest of my group seemed to enjoy their meals much more than I did. Unfortunately, there were also some cleanliness concerns. A spider descended from the ceiling onto our table during dinner, and another bug crawled across the table. There was even a bug zapper in the corner of the restaurant that seemed to be going off constantly throughout our meal. For a party of seven, our bill came to around $700. Given the overall experience, the food quality, and the atmosphere, it felt a bit underwhelming for the price.

I genuinely wanted to like Nurys on Main. I really did. Hope springs eternal, especially in…read moreFredericksburg, where good food is usually a sure bet. Unfortunately, this experience felt less like a restaurant opening and more like a dress rehearsal no one stopped. First problem: location confusion. We went to what turned out to be their second spot--which, crucially, was not called Nurys on the sign. Same ownership, new space, old identity crisis. Walking in felt like entering a building that hadn't yet decided what it wanted to be when it grew up. The lingering aroma? A strange duet of fish, antiseptic, and industrial cleaning agents. Not hunger-inducing. More "urgent care with a fryer." There was no one there, which made sense--it was between brunch and lunch--but somehow the wait for food felt disproportionately long for what arrived. What arrived, sadly, was mediocrity wearing a Tex-Mex costume. They seemed to be aiming for Tex-Mex but landed somewhere closer to Tex-Flex--stretching flavors thin until they snapped. The barbacoa was fatty in a way that suggested less "slow-cooked tradition" and more "glistening regret." It didn't taste authentic, or even especially intentional. Just heavy. The guacamole--perhaps the most unforgivable offense--was bad. Guacamole is avocados, salt, lime, and love. That's it. This had none of the above. The waitstaff wasn't rude, exactly--just possessed by the clear energy of people who would prefer you to finish quickly so they could resume their real lives. Hospitality should feel like an invitation, not a countdown. Now, maybe the original Nurys is wonderful. I hope it is. But if that's the case, why open a second location only to phone it in? Expansion should mean excellence multiplied, not care divided. There are too many good places in Fredericksburg doing things right to settle for something half-hearted. This one wasn't terrible--it was worse. It was forgettable. And that's the real disappointment.

Right away, the service felt off. Our waitress didn't even ask if we wanted drinks before jumping straight to, "Are you ready to order food?" Then she disappeared for long periods, even though we were basically her only table besides one other couple. The food was extremely underwhelming -- basic, barely warm, and nothing memorable. On top of that, there were so many flies inside that we were nonstop swatting them away. And to make matters worse, there was a bug in my drink when it was served to me. That was pretty much the final straw. Overall, a very forgettable and disappointing experience. We probably won't come again, and I would not recommend it.

We found exactly that. Our servers/owner--Felix, Parker, and Eylon (apologies if I butchered the spelling)--were absolute gems. Kind, chill, and genuinely welcoming. The whole vibe was 10/10. I've never been to Israel, but somehow it felt like we were there. I can't fully explain it. We ordered the hummus with the works and the falafel plate from the lunch menu. Incredible. We still can't stop talking about how good it was. The food was a solid 10/10. We have zero pictures because we were fully immersed in the experience. The best way I can describe it is love and peace in every bite. It felt like a baptism. Like we were close to Jesus. We ordered coffee ($3 per cup) and water. We were brought the coffee and waters and we ordered. I had the Huevos Rancheros ($17) and my wife had the Fruit Granola Yogurt ($13). Our food was brought out after a bit and it looked good. However, there were problems with both dishes. My wife's dish, advertised a Greek Yogurt was more like they scooped some Yoplait into the bowl instead. There was some fruit chunks, but not near enough to justify the $13 cost. She said the carved strawberry was the best part of the dish and the granola was good, but certainly did not taste homemade. My dish was barely warm, the beans were way too soupy, and I had asked for over-medium eggs, but they came over easy. I sent it back and told the server the dish was lukewarm and the eggs were not prepared as requested. She quickly came back with another plate that pretty much had the exact same issues. Lukewarm beans and potatoes and over-easy eggs. Rather than send it back again, I ate less than half and called it quits. Our bill came to ~$40 and it was probably worth less than half that. Another tidbit is that we had to ask twice for coffee refills. The place was not really busy either. Not sure why it gets 4+ stars because I struggle with giving it 2. Overall, not worth the price and the quality of the food was lacking. Service was decent, but aside from that it doesn't rate another visit. Shortly after arriving, I went to the restroom and encountered a member of the kitchen staff coming out while still wearing his apron. After using the restroom myself, I went to wash my hands and discovered that both soap dispensers were completely empty. Obviously, I can't say what the employee did before leaving the restroom because I wasn't inside with him, but there was no soap available from either dispenser when I attempted to wash my own hands immediately afterward. Seeing a kitchen employee leave that restroom and then discovering there was no soap available was enough for us to lose confidence in eating there. We had intended to stay for food, but instead we paid for the Prosecco my wife had already ordered and left. Hopefully this was simply an oversight and management addresses it, because something as basic as having soap available in a restaurant restroom--particularly one being used by food-service employees--is important. Unfortunately, based on what we observed, we weren't comfortable staying for a meal.
