A little back story about the Bed and Brew; for our family this place is somewhat cursed. Many years ago my mom and her friends booked the Bordello room only to leave at midnight because my padre had a heart attack. My mom eventually went back only to have the A/C go out and had to find other accommodations. So I have never stayed there; but decided to challenge the bad luck by booking the same room. Bad idea; because the instant I stepped in the room I hated it. The windows overlook nothing except the top of a dirty old building. The room instantly fought back as the A/C decided not to work and within 45 minutes of walking in the door it was 96 degrees and climbing. I don't think this room likes the Rooster family. Welcome to a better room; the beautiful Hill Country Lodge! This country themed room is charming and overlooks Main Street Fredericksburg and all its activities. Nice decorations, bed, bath, and a shower head that could take the freckles off your skin. Our only complaint was the tiny television; think 19 inch. So the price was great at $150 with tax; cursed room aside we had a great time. No breakfast as the name denotes; but on to the brew portion. You have the option to go down to the restaurant/brewery (directly below) and have a free beer or you can do what we did. Line up a sample glass of every beer they make! A few spinning in your head stair steps and your back in your room. Get a HD tv and I'll be back with 5 stars in my eyes. read more

I rate something a 5 when we get what we paid for, no issues. In this case that is true. Room was clean, fun and spacious. We had the hill country. Customer service was great and always responsive. Aside from some issues with a toilet seat not staying up and a tricky door lock, overall it was what we expected after reading the reviews. This is a good place to be smack dab in town ... BUT that brings road noise if your rooms (like ours) are in main making sleeping difficult. We were aware of this but did not expect it to be so LOUD. The 18 wheelers air breaking or running the light made so much noice and woke us up often. The downstairs noise was expected, we are on top of a bar so no big deal on a Sunday or Monday when we stayed. If we stayed again it would be in an inside room ... away from the street. read more

I was really skeptical about staying here based on the reviews I had read about the loud noise, small rooms, and dissatisfaction people had but decided to give it a try anyways, and I'm so glad we did. My boyfriend and I stayed in The Loft, and it was on a side that didn't face the Main Street. Noise - Since our window didn't face Main Street, we hardly heard any noise while in the room. Whenever we stepped into the hallway there was some loudish (I'd say 6/10 on loudness) music, but none much in the room itself. It really didn't bother us since it wasn't too loud, and it's expected with staying above a brewery. Room size/cleanness/satisfaction - the room honestly was big enough for just a simple stay. There was just two of us so we didn't need a ton of room. There isn't a fridge/microwave/table or any of that, but we really didn't need it since we spent most of the time outside. Our room didn't have a window which did kinda stink for mornings, but again, it made it quieter in the room so we didn't mind it. Other than that, the room was clean and you have the choice to have a house keeper come clean or not. Convenience - having our room be right on Main Street made the trip 10x better!! We were able to just park our car in one spot and leave it all weekend. We would walk up and down doing wine tastings, shopping, etc. if we got tired, needed to change, or just wanted an hour long break, it was so easy to just go to our room and relax, then go right back down stairs without having to worry about parking, driving, etc. it really just made it easier on us and safer since we were drinking a bunch. They also give you free beer chips to get some free beer at the brewery which is really cool! Overall, I'd give this place a 9.5 out of 10, especially for relaxed people who just want to drink and have fun!! I highly recommend looking into the Bed and Brew! This not the place to stay if you want rest. Do not book front rooms nothing but road noise. Rooms to the left hope you enjoy distorted music. Walls are thin you hear the other rooms and the brewery downstairs. Beds are hard. If your tall you will bump your head in the shower. Lighting is really bad especially in the bathroom. Room: Hill Country PROs: Adorable Decor Located right on Main Street Brewery has pretty good beer Blankets are nice and warm CONs: Bathroom is so small, the shower heads are so low and me being at 5'4" and having to bend to wash my hair tells you how low they are, the shower makes a squeaky noise. There is no parking. We had to circle around a ton of times to find decent parking which was still a bit a way to carry luggage. There's no coffee maker in rooms- to get coffee you can walk down the road to a place that has some KCups or get in the car and drive down to the cafe but then you may not get parking again. Television is small It's loud. If you are looking to just relax just be prepared to hear the brewery downstairs but I think that's to be expected All in all it's a cool place but it's really just a place to crash for the night. If you are looking for luxury this wouldn't be the place to stay. read more

We stopped in for a beer/wine to regroup and figure out where to stay. We didn't realize they also have rooms above the restaurant. Gaelynn was so helpful and a sweetheart! We stayed in "The Loft" upstairs. We enjoyed our stay, it was walking distance to everything on Main Street. Made it nice to park once and not worry about driving! This place has the perfect location! We stayed in the Blue Lagoon and it was clean and perfect for myself and husband. Our room overlooked the patio of the bar next door that has a live band till 11:00. I loved that, but if you want a quiet room this isn't the best room for you. The only downside is that parking is 1st come 1st serve along Main st. So good luck finding a spot. I will definitely stay here again. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed here on a trip down from NJ. We have never been to Fredericksburg before but we had a great time. The location was awesome in the center of the town and right next to the restaurant with decent food. We appreciated the beer tokens which was a nice touch as we sat in the beer garden and enjoyed a quiet evening. The room was comfortable, but the pillows were less desirable. What a cool concept - a Bed & Brew - where instead of getting breakfast like at a normal B&B, you get freshly brewed, unique to the region beer. Let's start with that - the beer. It was FANTASTIC and unlike any other beer I'd tasted. We paid for 2 nights in the B&B (only ended up staying 1, but more on that later) so each night my husband and I each had a voucher for either 1 pint of beer or 1 flight. The first night he had the Enchanted Rock Red Ale and I had the Whitetail Wheat and both were DELICIOUS. The second night he tried a pint of the Helles Keller while I opted for the flight which was beautifully presented in small beer glasses lined up from light to dark. All were great, but my faves were the Enchanted Rock Red Ale & the Whitetail Wheat. The porter was a very close 3rd (how in the heck do they get coffee & chocolate flavors to taste GOOD in beer?). Now, on to the "bed" of the B&B. Checking in was an interesting experience done at the brewery/restaurant. A young girl was helping us and beyond asking us to sign our credit card receipt, she wasn't very happy or helpful. We asked for an itemized receipt (because tax was close to $100 - the cost of 1 night's stay!), but she said she couldn't give us one. We stayed in the Cowboy room and the room itself was quaint, with old western decor, a working A/C, and a hot shower. The window was small and overlooked the top of the building, but that didn't really bother us. We were looking forward to a good night's rest since we were taking an 8 hour rock climbing class at Enchanted Rock the next day...unfortunately that rest never happened. Immediately upon getting into bed both my husband and I noticed the stiffness of the mattress. As we tried to roll around and get comfortable we could feel every single spring poking us, keeping us from finding a position that allowed us to actually sleep. We both tossed and turned all night long. At one point I rolled over to find my husband on the internet on his cell phone - he was looking up the cancellation policy for the next night - it was 3:45am. We had several middle of the night conversations as each of us was wide awake most of the night. When our alarm went off at 6:45am both of us felt groggy and sleepy from not getting any rest and we both agreed that although we had paid for a Saturday night stay, we'd be heading back to San Antonio to sleep in our own bed that night. After a long day of rock climbing we returned to the room to shower, packed our things and left. When "checking out" (again done at the brewery) the same stone-faced girl "helped" us and when my husband told her we couldn't possibly sleep another night in that bed she did nothing but take our key from him and continue with other duties. I was rather sad to have such a poor experience with the bed and service because this B&B could really be nice. The location is perfect (right on Main Street), but the bed will prevent us from ever staying again and from recommending this place to anyone. read more

My wife and I stayed at the bed and brew over the weekend of the local wine fest. The location was great, the room was just ok, but the management really turned us off of the thought of ever coming back. When unmaking the bed for the night my wife hit the table lamp with a throw pillow and it fell off the night stand. No big deal we thought, we will gladly pay to have it replaced. Then the bill was charged to our card and we were charged $300 for a garage sale table lamp?! We called the manager (Travis?) to talk to him about the charge and with a ton of attitude he told us that we signed a contract and gave zero sympathy. I own the accident on our part but to pay more for a lamp than we did for our two night stay is ridiculous. The room wasn't anything to write home about and after such a bad experience with management we won't be spending a penny with them again. Fredericksburg has plenty of better options where you won't be ripped off. read more

Most of the reviews are accurate. This place is about LOCATION. little confusion in the beginning, where to check in. Had to call to find out about the NO designated parking and to go into the resteraunte to check in. So busy Friday or Saturday may have you parked pretty far away. Things to know bring your own blanket if you want more than a thin quilt like cover. Bring extra towels. Bring an iron, nothing in the room. Stayed in The Admiral looks over patio of a nice little resteraunte and winery that has great music they close up about 11p which is fine. You can hear the brewery below. You will have to go out to get coffee, like go out and down the street. There's an ice bucket in the room there is not an ice machine. The toilet in this room has a trick to keep it from running when flushing. The shower was the best part HOT water and great pressure, as long as the room next to is not using any water. OH and that is detail you can hear the shower next to you. Beware, you can hear everything outside your room too. The idea is you won't be in you room b/c this is right in the middle of Main Street fun stuff. Restful sleep is not on the agenda if want sleep past 7a. This is not a place of amenities this is place to lay your head and it's clean. Everything is so close if you want more comforts then there are plenty of places literally a block away. read more

Pros Good location, right on Main Street, easy to walk everywhere. Large room We were worried about the bed being uncomfortable from previous reviews but it was fine (although there was plenty of room to put a king sized bed in the room or a little couch or something) and we are picky sleepers Great AC and fan - it got deliciously cold at night Good value Free beer ticket each night you stay. Improvements that would make this place 5 star: Wax the wood floors to remove appearance of dust (not dirty, just looks that way) Get white towels - totally weirded out by the dark blue towels, can't see stains. So many people have used them, I want to know you have bleached the heck out of them to make them spick and span for me. Adding double pained widows - very noisy during the day but quiet starting around 11pm. Black out blinds - our blinds were missing a slat and light streamed through at night, no curtains to cover the window. Better lights - Bates motel feel in the hallway, minimal light in the room Itemized receipt (umm hello taxes we would have liked to have known about beforehand) Bigger TV - nightlife is dead starting at 9, need something to do in this town! Wifi only in some of the rooms? Our friends had it but we didn't. Shower head was at my chin level and I am of average height for a woman. Very uncomfortable to wash my hair. Well I am sure this used to be fun and exciting. Now it is not. I have a high tolerance ufor "unique" but there are a few things that made this a deal breaker. The first minor issue is pillows. There are 6 decorative pillows that are useless for sleeping and two tiny, flat pillows for sleeping. That coupled with the uneven temperature in the room and lack of a summer weight blanket made it either too hot or too cold. But here's the real deal breaker that is not disclosed until you check in and pay your money . . . their new neighbors. LIVE MUSIC right outside of your window if you are in the Admiral, Forest, Hunters, or Rustic rooms; but really you could hear it coming up the stairs on the far side of the building. The shut down the music by midnight, but really Fredericksburg rolls up the sidewalks early so most folks are in their rooms by 9 or 10. Which leaves 2 to 3 hours of listeneing to mediocre live music through the hotel walls. So join them you say . . . A good idea, but alas the covers were so bad that the missus and I just made fun of them in between our annoyed gripping and increaseing the volume of the TV in order to hear Anthony Bourdain pontificate about the culinary wonders of Lima Peru. I definitely felt that the purveyors played the gotcha game by not disclosing this before I paid for the room. read more

We stayed in The Loft room during our 1 night stay and had a really pleasant experience. The room was beautifully decorated, clean, bed was comfy, and you just can't beat being steps away from a brewery(Each guest gets a free pint of beer for each night's stay). It's conveninently located on Main street close to all the shops. The check-in process was easy, we just talked to the hostess and she led us up to our room. At checkout, we just dropped our keys by door. My boyfriend and I are pretty low maintenance so this "no-frills" place was perfect for us. If you require a lot more attention and interactions this may not be the place for you. read more

Staying in the Admirals quarters with my husband and we have thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Comfortable bed with plenty of pillows, lots of towels, nice water pressure, and plenty of space for luggage bags. We even got to meet Rosemary, the decorator and she gave us a tour of all the rooms and its redecoration of the rooms! There is a window that faces a patio where live music is being played but luckily the band quit around 9 pm so it wasn't bothersome to us since we had just gotten back to the room. The one thing I did not like is there is no full length mirror and being a short Latina woman all the mirrors in the bathroom barely show my head (maybe they could lower a mirror). Great plus is this is an adult B&B so the hubby and I didn't have to deal with kids or dogs roaming the halls. we had a great time and will be back next time we're in town. read more

We always stay at the Fredericksburg Bed & Brew. EXTREMELY GOOD VALUE FOR YOUR MONEY. The rooms are good size. The rates are the lowest that I have found on Main Street. They give you drink coupons for the downstairs restaurant and brewery. The location is right in the middle of main street. At Christmas Time the Rustic Room has an entire wall of windows so you can see the beautiful main street christmas lights. read more

It was just...awful. Music blaring through the walls from the adjacent restaurant, so loud it was like something from a sitcom. I wish I'd stayed anywhere else. The room WAS pretty, I'll admit. The inn is located on Main Street situated directly adjacent and above the brewery. The entrance is a tiny little door with an arrowed sign above it indicating the bed & brew. You can almost miss it if you don't pay close attention. Check in is inside the brewery at the hostess desk and was quick and efficient. Although you have to find this out on your own, as there are no sign postings anywhere on the actual inn instructing how or where to check in. Once inside the door, you walk up a wooden staircase, open a second door, and you are in the main hallway of the inn. The hallway has a wooden floor that echoes your footfalls and can be quiet noisy. There is no elevator, so make sure you're capable of carrying your bags/suitcases up the stairs. We stayed in the Admirals room which faced the courtyard. It was cute, clean, and tidy. I loved the rocking chairs in the room! If you know in advance what you get and what you won't get, you can still enjoy your stay here. Some important things to note (especially for the ladies): 1. The room is VERY dark. The lighting his horrible. The bedside lamp had a broken lightbulb (literally shattered inside the lamp and still screwed in), although this was not the reason for the poor lighting. The lighting was just bad. 2. The bed is bouncy. Any movement from your partner and it's like a springboard and you catapult off the bed (kidding, but it almost felt that way) 3. The bathroom is small with a tiny sink and almost no counter space. The oval mirror was barely adequate and for a short person (I'm 5 ft), I could not lean far enough over the sink to see into the mirror. 4. The showered was very low. Perfect for me, but not for a taller person 5. The lighting in the bathroom is also horrible. 6. There is a hairdryer, but no iron or ironing board. Plan on bringing only items that don't need any touch up ironing. 7. BRING EARPLUGS: You will hear ALL the noise from the brewery downstairs. It sounds like it's right next door and it's very loud. We stayed on a Saturday night when the brewery closed at 10pm, but things didn't quiet down until 11pm as they crew cleaned and closed up. 8. The pipes "squeal" when someone uses the water. This is a rude awakening at 6am. Again, bring earplugs. 9. This is not a full-service inn. There is no lobby. No room service, no attendant if you need anything after-hours. Overall, it suited our immediate needs but I would not stay again. While it was an excellent location right on Main Street, the town is small enough that it wouldn't be a big deal to stay at full-service hotel around the corner. BONUS: You get a beer token good for 1 pint of beer for each person staying in the room for each night you stay. read more

If you've read some of the negative reviews, you would be apprehensive, just like I was - don't be. My sister and I visited for a girls' weekend and booked the Cowboy room. The room was bright, clean, and tastefully decorated in the theme. There was plenty of lighting and the noise from the brewery below and the courtyard next door did not bother us in the slightest. I did wear ear plugs at night just in case, but my sister (who is usually very particular) did not use any and had no complaints. The bed was thick but springy. Not the most comfortable, but not the least either. This is a very clean, but basic room, with a unique location and a good value. If you want bells and whistles, there are plenty of pricey B&Bs nearby. I could tell walking up the stairs and down the hallway that this place is well-cared for by someone who takes pride in it. Plus, you can't beat walking outside and directly into a brewery or a wine tasting! I highly recommend this place, but keep your expectations reasonable and know what it is going in. read more

My husband and I stayed at the Bed and Brew in July. I was aware that I would be staying above a restaurant, and was prepared for that. However, I looked at the hours, and seeing that the restaurant closed at 10:00, I figured it would be fine. I was VERY wrong. The noise went on until at least 11:30 on Friday. It wasn't just normal talking, it was very loud laughter and it was impossible to sleep through. I tried to drown it out with the TV, and the air conditioner fan, but nothing helped. We had a pretty miserable nights' stay. When we checked out, I hoped someone would at least care, but no one was even there except for one gentleman who didn't even speak English very well. It was one of most disappointing experiences I've had in a very long time. read more
