Good place to stay if you have a big party. Plenty of tables and chairs, you can walk to downtown in about 15 to 20 minutes, located in a nice area of town, plenty of dishes, coffee pots etc. There is plenty of room. It is cute if you do not look closely. The house needs to be thoroughly cleaned for dust and mold. There was dust dropping from vents. It needs updated electrical and plumbing. The bathroom lights flickered downstairs, the bathrooms had numerous moths or some type of flying winged insect in them, one downstair's bathroom had a wet floor by the toilet which may have been from a leaky toilet or pipes under the floor. The numerous flying insects were to me an indication that there was something wrong underneath the surface. The flying insects were seen day and night. read more

The room was musty, carpet stained, obviously no breakfast. The Magnolia House is the second and BEST B&B we've stayed in. As newlyweds all we wanted was just to relax...Lisa and Claude exceeded all our expectations...they pampered us so much! They are truly amazing and we feel very fortunate to have met them. After telling them about us being newlyweds they surprised us with a bottle of champagne. Very thoughtful! Zero stars if I could. Car window got busted into outside the house in the middle of the night. Toilet would barely flush but they sure do let you know they will charge your card if it breaks and they have to call a plumber. Hot tub with zero privacy. Way over priced, uncomfortable bed, would've been much better off in a hotel. Completely regret booking. read more

This was my first B&B experience and it did not disappoint! At check in, we were given the history of the house, a little tour and told where we could find refreshments and anything else we might need. There were fresh baked cookies with red wine each evening, plus white wine available in the refrigerator. We were greeted with coffee and tea each morning to go with a home cooked, delicious 2 course breakfast, that included a fresh baked pastry and a filling breakfast plate. They were very helpful with suggestions about what to do in town and where to go find the best foods. The sheets were amazing as well (we bought a set plus a blanket quilt)! We spent hours researching B&Bs in and around Fredericksburg and landed on this one and LOVED it. I'm not a typical B&B person, but I'm definitely a Magnolia House person. When we arrived, we were greeted by one of the owners and check-in was seamless. We went up to our room, the American Beauty room, which we chose cause it had an attached inside bathroom. They had a bunch of guides in the room, and the owner could not have been more welcoming or friendly. Downstairs, they have fresh treats every night, as well as a red and white wine available for you to enjoy. They also have water bottles that you can take and give back each morning for cleaning. The food here was INCREDIBLE. Every breakfast we had was amazing. It started with a pastry and some fruit, and the next course followed with a egg dish, waffle or pancake, and a meat like a sausage. I don't like all egg dishes, and I enjoyed EVERYTHING. Also, they mentioned upfront that they'd be able to accommodate most nutritional needs/issues, so please let them know any of that upfront. The owners a husband and wife duo were extremely helpful with any and every question we had. They are very personable, and we also felt the other guests that we stayed with were as well. This location is also pretty solid. It's within walking distance to the heart of the town and thus a bunch of wineries. We would hands-down stay here again whenever we go back, and part of why we have such fond memories of Fredericksburg is due to Magnolia House. read more

Our stay at Magnolia House was absolutely phenomenal. Claude and Lisa are extremely kind and very accommodating to dietary needs (I can't drink regular milk, so they stocked the fridge full of almond milk!). The house itself is beautiful, and while I initially thought it might be too flowery for me, was a wonderful mix of charming and modern amenities, like the iPod clock radio in our room! The breakfast is out of this world - all of it is locally sourced, handmade, and phenomenal. We had a goat cheese quiche, coffee cake, and local ham, and it was all really amazing. It was my boyfriend and my anniversary, and when we left, there was a card and chocolate for us (dark, our favorite!) Blue Bonnet Suite - Score! I haven't stayed in the other rooms, why would I? This is the one you want, trust me. Magnolia Suite (I walked in) it looked nice, but it is attached to the main house, and we want to be left alone (for the most part.) My wife and I have stayed here 5 times ... it is GREAT. The owners are very friendly, and knowledgeable about the places to go in Fredricksberg, and the breakfasts are KILLER. They are close to the strip, so you can get anywhere you want (except the horrible, horrible Hill Top) within about 15 minutes. The bed and breakfast crowd is always pretty fun to hang around with. We also ran into a bride to be and her maid of honour (how cool is that her best friend took her out to relax before the wedding) Even if you aren't really interested in going out, this place is great to just stay in, snuggle up to your loved one, and drink some wine, and if you are so inclined watch a movie, their selection isn't the greatest but it is pretty good. I've stayed at one other bed and breakfast in my entire life and this place... sets the bar REALLY high! When I made my reservation almost a month ago, I made sure to let them know that we would be arriving late since I would be coming in after work. Lisa called to verify my information and I let her know that it was our anniversary weekend and we would be driving in from Houston. She let me know that if we were going to be any later to let her know so that she can let us know where to find the key. We arrived around 8:30ish and we were immediately greeted by Lisa! She walked over and walked us through the house to show us where everything was, how to work the shower (which was different faucet then I've ever seen before) and let us know a little history about the house. The house is really quaint and the pictures that are posted online and here on Yelp really are the real thing! Every morning at 9am, they serve breakfast and it's always something different! You sit with everyone else staying the house and get to know your "neighbors". Everything is homemade from Lisa and Claude and they are some really good cooks! I don't prefer breakfast foods (I know I know... then what am I doing at a Bed a BREAKFAST, right?), but this food was great! The first morning we had honey dew melon slices with black berries and a coffee crumb cake. That also came with two slices of french toast and a ham cup with an egg and mushrooms. It was all DELISH! Once we were done with breakfast, we all left to go our separate ways and tour the town! Each afternoon, they leave out little goodies for you! The night we arrived, they were chocolate brownies and the second afternoon it was Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies! AMAZING! I love love love love love love sweets, and this definitely hit the spot! They also leave out a bottle of red wine and in the fridge some flasks of white wine. All of this is help your self! You have coffee, teas, and hot chocolate options as well for those that don't drink. The second morning, we had a pineapple slice and a strawberry with raspberry drizzle and a cherry scone. The main course was lemon pancakes (which were yummy!) and Opa's sausage. During breakfast, Lisa and Claude left a little gift for us in the room for our anniversary that was a nice touch! One of my girlfriends and I stayed here this weekend and it was such a fun experience. I normally stay in regular hotels, so it was definitely different. The home has 5 rooms and everybody shares the common spaces. You all eat breakfast together at 9 am. Phil, the owner, makes breakfast and it is really delicious. I had a request for no red meat and they were happy to accommodate. The location is also perfect if you are looking to do stuff on Main Street or do any of the wine tastings because it's only about a mile and close enough to walk. My girlfriend and I have stayed at this B&B every three months for the last 1.5 years. Claude and Lisa have created an amazing, comfortable, beautiful B&B. They are very friendly and accommodating. The meals are delightful and in the afternoons and evenings they provide fresh baked goods and drinks (including wine!). When I saw that the overall score for them on Yelp was only 4.5 I went to read each of the entries that scored a '4'. They loved the place too - just didn't put 5 for some reason. Wonderful owners, beautiful home and the rooms and yard is gorgeous, provide maps and things to do and emergency amenities, very willing to accommodate allergies and provide beautiful breakfast service. Only thing I disliked were the pillows but they provide extras to stack. if you are two people get the bigger room since the peach blossom has an outside bathroom and smaller room than the others so go with one of the other rooms. read more

My boyfriend and I were looking for a nice place for a romantic winery-visiting getaway, and a little internet research led us to the Magnolia House. We booked our reservation, and when we mentioned the trip to a friend, he said, "Oh, my wife and I stayed there, and you are in for a TREAT." He was so right. From Friday evening's arrival to Sunday's departure, everything was delightful. The cookies: fresh-baked. The room: lovely and comfortable. The breakfasts: marvelous. The grounds: charming (swing bench!). Claude and Lisa are excellent hosts. It can be hard to find that balance between 'being friendly and accessible' and 'hovering', but they nail it perfectly, and manage to facilitate cheerful breakfast conversation between a group of complete strangers without ever coming off as 'Julie, Your Cruise Director.' We stayed at the Magnolia House last weekend and had a terrific stay. Claude and Lisa are commodious hosts and maintain an immaculate establishment. The breakfasts were the bomb on both mornings. We plan to stay there again when we next visit Fredricksburg. There is only one caveat to share with potential customers. The Bluebonnet Room is wonderful in that it has its own private entrance from outside. However, the bathroom has an old-style claw-foot bathtub. For those with balance issues, the high step into and out of the tub can be problematical. I spoke with Lisa and the other rooms have either shower stalls or standard bathtub/shower modules, so options are available for all who wish to stay at this most excellent of B&Bs. read more

It was a girls getaway and we so enjoyed the Magnolia House. It is a perfect location for shopping and the owners are very hospitable and excellent cooks.We rented the American Beauty room and it was extremely comfortable. We really enjoyed the 5 star breakfast including egg nog french toast, fritatta, fresh pineapple & strawberries and blueberry scone. They have many amenities including fresh baked cookies in the evening, red or white wine, anything that you need (tylenol, kleenex, etc.) like in your own home. The only thing I would mention is the downstairs former master bedroom (which is HUGE!) is right outside the dining room and people can get coffee at 7:30am (before 9:00 breakfast) so if you want to sleep in if you're in that room it might be a problem. We were glad we were upstairs - it was quiet and we had a private bathroom (some other rooms have baths across the hall but they're still for you only). I will definitely go back - it was very comfortable and homey and we really enjoyed meeting all the other guests at breakfast. Great conversation! read more

This was our first trip to the Magnolia House. What an amazing experience from the greeting to the final good bye from Claude and Lisa. The Magnolia Suite was so delightful, the grounds were quiet and we had our own private bath. All access to the house and excellent recommendations for dinner. My hubby and I took a 4-day trip to Fredericksburg for our 5th anniversary - stayed part time in a B&B near Enchanted Rock, and the remaining 2 days at Magnolia House. Great location - a 5-minute drive from the strip. It's a historic house, and we got a tour of the home along with a story of it's history. We stayed in the Bluebonnet Suite, which was fantastic. Very comfortable with an electric fireplace, clawfoot tub, the cutest little '50s style fridge, and a private entrance - attached to the house, but you don't have to walk through the house to get to your room (huge plus). The sheets are remarkably soft, suite comes with his/her robes, luscious and monogrammed bath towels, a comfy loveseat with cuddle-blanket to share, and they offer current movies to watch (for our long stay, we decided to take one night where we ordered in and snuggled, instead of running around town). Breakfasts are delicious - one morning we had fresh fruit with a mocha-creme sauce, bratwurst (made from the local Opa's), baked eggs in ham cups, a cinnamon-raisin waffle, and fresh-baked orange-cherry bread. The next we were served cantelope and blackberries, Opa's breakfast sausage, Grand Marniere French toast and a scrumptious fritatta casserole. My only complaint is the neighborhood dogs that barked a bit on our last night, but that is none of the B&B's fault. We will be staying here on our future trips to Hill Country. read more

First bnb experience and it probably set the bar way too high for any future bnb stays. Everything was incredible down to the tiniest detail. Coffee, wine and a different homemade dessert were out daily. The owner / host knows a lot about Fredericksburg and gives you a guide of things going on during your stay as well as recommendations to do while in town. The breakfast each morning was two courses and was hands down thee best breakfast I've ever had. The owner / host even accommodated for me as a vegetarian. All the of the guests were truly wowed by the breakfast. Aside from the chef skills of the host the place itself is very comfortable and clean!! I don't know how they kept the place so spotless, but kudos to them. There's plenty of areas to sit and relax as well as an outdoor area. We made our annual Easter trip to Fredericksburg and stayed at the Magnolia House. We were there for 4 nights and enjoyed the entire experience. We have stayed there for many years and the main reason is the inn keepers, Claude & Lisa who are probably the most hospitable couple we have met in our travels. Claude is in charge of the food and puts on a spectacular breakfast every day. He also makes cookies every afternoon. We look forward to returning to the B&B each day to see what type of cookies are being served. Lisa creatively decorates the house for each holiday or season. They are also a great source of information on the local restaurant and activities. I am a bicyclist as is Claude and I rely on him to provide me with information on where to ride in the area. The rooms are quite spacious and they do a wonderful job of keeping the B&B sparkling clean. Fredericksburg is a great place to visit and the Magnolia House is the place to stay. read more
