My mom eventually went back only to have the A/C go out and had to find other accommodations. So I have never stayed there; but decided to challenge the bad luck by booking the same room. Bad idea; because the instant I stepped in the room I hated it. The windows overlook nothing except the top of a dirty old building. The room instantly fought back as the A/C decided not to work and within 45 minutes of walking in the door it was 96 degrees and climbing. I don't think this room likes the Rooster family. Welcome to a better room; the beautiful Hill Country Lodge! This country themed room is charming and overlooks Main Street Fredericksburg and all its activities. Nice decorations, bed, bath, and a shower head that could take the freckles off your skin. Our only complaint was the tiny television; think 19 inch. So the price was great at $150 with tax; cursed room aside we had a great time. No breakfast as the name denotes; but on to the brew portion. You have the option to go down to the restaurant/brewery (directly below) and have a free beer or you can do what we did. Line up a sample glass of every beer they make! A few spinning in your head stair steps and your back in your room. Get a HD tv and I'll be back with 5 stars in my eyes.

The lady at the checkin building was wonderful! She was very accommodating and put us on the first floor so I didn't have to climb stairs (back surgery in Dec). We stayed in room 4. Upon opening the door, I fell in love! This beautiful room was decorated with antique furniture and just felt cozy! The bed was so comfortable that I got the best nights sleep I've had in over 10 days! The shower was huge and the best water pressure! There is body soap, shampoo and conditioner provided that is made locally at their herb farm. I wanted to purchase from the office, but we were running short of time, so I'll be ordering online! There are robes for your use, that were soft and comfortable! I want one of those too! There is a keurig, microwave and a small refrigerator with a freezer. There is also 4 bottles of local wine on the counter, champagne and beer in the fridge and chips for purchase (mini bar). The room was quiet all night. This place isn't huge, so I felt like we were lucky to get a room here. We will be back in the spring so we can enjoy the beautiful porch area. This morning, we had a wonderful breakfast delivered in a basket! It was delicious! My only suggestion would be to add a boiled egg or sausage patty to have a little more protein with breakfast. However, the room felt somewhat outdated compared to modern hotel standards. It's worth noting that the hotel does not offer valet service. The location is excellent, it's within walking distance to many attractions in Fredericksburg. We were able to explore the area comfortably on foot. It was mostly quiet during our stay, and while the bedding was just okay, it was still comfortable. We didn't encounter any of the staff issues mentioned in other reviews. We would definitely consider staying here again in the future.

The shower has a higher head and we liked the new laminate floors. We liked the two lounge chairs, chair and desk along with the microwave and mini fridge. Pretty much the previous review still stands, but I added a few more recent photos and comments So why still the 3 stars? The walls and ceilings are quite thin where you can hear someone tromping around upstairs and snoring in the room next to you as well as upstairs. People are allowed to bring their pets to the rooms which means you can listen to them bark in the room next to you. My morning shower was set to hot, but it was barely warm. We pulled back the sheets and the mattress pad where there was a small blood stain, hairs, and an oily stain near the center of the mattress. No room safe. Breakfast here is pretty much on par with the average Best Western except that the buffet room is very cramped and indoor dining is tight. The outdoor dining area is actually quite nice weather permitting. I personally would like to see either the breakfast eliminated and we pay less for the room or for it to be an exceptional breakfast and charge a little more. By being at the level of mediocrity it just inspires you to go somewhere else. Even the coffee was weak and watery. With all of that said, our 2 day stay was less than $480. For a comfortable relatively clean room with no musty smell, it seems worth it. If you want to enjoy your time here, stay on the second floor and have breakfast at one of the nearby restaurants. 31/2* for the money for an acceptable visit.

What was odd was the check in location was approximately 15 - 20min away from the actual cottages. It was rather difficult for us to navigate to them having a later check in (8pm) we drove right after work from Austin. Breakfast vouchers are given upon check in which was a pleasant surprise. Overall I'd come back and try staying at one of their bigger cottages like the 2bd with our kids.

I was mainly visiting Fredericksburg to be close to Enchanted Rock State Park where I was going at night to photograph stars and other celestial objects. First of all, the motel reminds me of the ones I stayed in as a kid back in the 60's which I think were referred to as motor courts. The layout is simple, 3 long buildings, each with individual rooms, I was in Room #2. Parking was perfect for me as I parked right in front of my room's door. When you have to drag a lot of heavy photography gear in and out of the car and room, being so close is perfect. No elevator to ride and long walk to a parking lot. The room was sparkling clean, I think it might have been painted recently and the decor had a western feel with a cow skin on the floor and a Mexican serape bed cover. Speaking of the bed, it was super comfy and so were the pillows. The room had a small table and 2 comfortable chairs, the table was perfect for my laptop to use for editing my images and checking email and such. There were night stands on either side of the bed and a TV on the wall, although I never turned it on. The bathroom was great, clean and modern fixtures. It had a tub/shower, toilet and sink. The room had a kitchenette, a small counter with a nice sink and a coffee maker, a microwave was just above on the shelf. I found the 2 burner glass top stove which was stored under the sink and it worked fine for scrambling some eggs for breakfast. The fridge was small but enough room for what I needed, freezer needed to be defrosted but I kept my reusable ice pack frozen for my trip home. The only negative thing I could say is that while they did provide some plates, bowls, silverware and kitchen cooking utensils, at first there were no pots or pans. I called the main number and soon a lady delivered 2 frying pans. Sadly, they were in pretty bad shape, non stick or Teflon was all scratched up. I ended up just going to Walmart and buying a pan for $5. I would recommend the owners get some better cooking necessities like a pan and a pot. Also a roll of paper towels would be better than the Terri cloth hand towel they provided. And most importantly, the AC unit was great and kept my room really cold, even with 100 degree temps just outside. It looked clean, no signs of mold or mildew as some other reviewers noted. If I am returning to Fredericksburg, I will stay here for sure!

I loved that there is a little secret (not so secret) path that connects you straight to the castle winery!!! Perfect idea for a girls winery weekend especially if you rather play it safe and not drive, just grab drinks and food next door and walk back to the hotel and enjoy the pool!
