We got married at the Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology (BFIT) on April 23 of this year. We hired DJ Cookie Policy (Brett Lehrman) as our DJ. For starters, how amazing is that name? We'd be lying if we said it didn't get our attention. However, Brett is more than a DJ with a cool/funny name. He's a true professional who truly cares about his craft and making sure that your event is special. Leading up to the event, we had several calls and email exchanges with Brett to discuss the event. Brett provided a "roadmap" spreadsheet with all of the essentials: timing, family member names, special songs (entrances, first dance, etc.), and "must play" & "do not play" song lists. We also set some expectations for how much he would be involved with announcements (just a few) and crowd work (none, which is exactly what we wanted). Brett picked up on our tastes immediately, and he also read the crowd very well. This was all a MAJOR plus for us. On the wedding day, Brett showed up early to set up his equipment, and he even helped set up our uplighting. He also set up a separate speaker in the lobby for cocktail hour music, which allowed a seamless transition from the cocktail hour to the reception. The cocktail hour/dinner music was light and pleasant, and as dinner wrapped up, the energy levels were turned up. The dance music started with some oldies/classics that the older crowd could enjoy, and it gradually transitioned into higher energy, more modern party music. The music and dancing only got better as the evening went on. By the end of the night, the dance floor was still full. The party animals were still dancing their hearts out, and everyone was laughing, smiling, and having an amazing time. No one wanted to stop dancing; they practically had to kick us out! We are eternally grateful to Brett, because he made our day so, so special. We now have memories that we can cherish for the rest of our lives. Brett dj'ed our evening outdoor wedding 5/30/15 and he did a phenomenal job! Before the wedding he provided us with a joint GoogleDoc for coordinating speeches, dinner, and, most importantly, music. We wanted to make sure we had very specific and separate music for cocktail hour/dinner and dancing and he was able to smoothly put together all of our requests into a nice cohesive sound. My wife and I had a very particular idea of the music we wanted to hear-- we picked ~80% of the music-- but Brett threw in some really great mixes that surprised and delighted us! My friends still mention this particularly great fade-in he did to "Once in a lifetime" by the Talking Heads. We had a couple special requests, cutting a father/daughter dance song down one verse-- as well as a hard-to-find Norteño song that he got for us without question. Also, we made a "do not play" list, and when Brett was approached by a family member requesting one of those songs, he very diplomatically refused to play it :) As the groom, I wasn't able to hear all the music, but the evening progressed without a hitch, and EVERYONE got on the floor to dance. I may be biased, but of all the weddings I've ever been to, I've never seen people more into dancing. Brett provided all his own equipment and dressed very "wedding-appropriate". There was a momentary microphone feedback issue during one of the speeches-- but he got it resolved quickly. Not to mention, he had really nice, professional wireless mics for speeches-- I would not have thought to ask about those. Straight up, best. I've attended over 40 weddings in the past 7 years. Seen it all - live bands, DJs, regrettable attempts at Spotify playlists, etc. The best dancing and best vibe happens with a DJ that can read the room AND run a show, all without becoming the center of attention himself. Truly, a class act. Brett [DJ Cookie Policy] is able to seamlessly transition through musical genres, creating a killer flow that doesn't feel cliche at all (unlike off the rack mash-ups). His library is diverse, but still feels familiar, and every song will get you moving. Brett brought the party when he DJ'd our wedding at Stonehurst in Waltham this summer! He played an amazing mix during the reception and flawlessly handled the outdoor ceremony music too. One of the most fun moments at our wedding was the point when Brett unleashed the 90s nostalgia mix we had requested. We thought our guests would enjoy a trip down memory lane, and Brett put together a spot-on medley. Everyone went crazy! So many people were singing along. Brett DJ'd our wedding at The Gardens at Elm Bank this August, playing the role of MC for our introductions and then as a masterful DJ when the dance floor opened. Brett's style transcends your Basic Wedding DJ; he's in the stratosphere while the others are down on planet earth. I fed him a cross-genre playlist of Much Too Much Music, and he merged that with the vibes of the room to keep everyone moving. We were so happy to have Brett DJ our wedding and he did a great job! From our first meeting, we knew he was the right DJ for us - he was super responsive via email, easy to talk with regarding music and what we had envisioned for the big day, and kept things extremely organized with his online spreadsheet to help us map out the timeline of events and pick the right songs to go along with them. You can tell he's passionate about music, and was more than willing to accommodate our various requests, ranging from oldies to alt rock to dance music. We were more than confident that he'd be able to set the right vibe throughout the night. We also really appreciated his flexibility - less than a month out from the wedding, we decided that we wanted to have a few uplights set up around our venue, and we were so happy that he was able to make that happen on such short notice. Brett was an absolutely incredible DJ from start to finish. We worked with him for our 75 person wedding reception in July 2019 at Easton's Beach Rotunda in Newport RI. From our very first phone call Brett felt like a friend. He was very easy to talk to and schedule. We weren't exactly quick to get him our event outline and song choices, yet he had no problem pulling it off seamlessly. We also put in some late requests for extra mics and lights that he accommodated with ease. As for the day of the event, Brett was great at navigating our unusual order of events, and helpful in keeping things running on schedule. And then there was dancing. Brett was our wedding DJ in Martha's Vineyard this past July. He really did a spectacular job and was a pleasure to work with. Of all our wedding vendors, Brett was far and away the easiest to deal with. The first thing I noticed was his incredible level of organization.
