Joshua Creek Ranch was really a nice daycation. I purchased a resort pass for a friend and I to get out of San Antonio for a few hours. The establishment was really nice. The pool was a good size. Not too small and not overly large. The cantina is connected to the pool area and a server will come to your poolside seats to order food or drinks. They were very friendly and helpful. I'd love for the pool area to be no children but I get it and the kids present weren't too annoying. Advice for parents - your children don't need to jump into pools and make a big splash. Some of us just want to relax in the water. I felt super relaxed most of the time but warning that there are gun shots all day since it's also a shooting range. As long as gun shots don't give you PTSD, you can tune it out pretty quickly but it's why it's only 4 stars. I'd definitely return. Nice location and fun time. read more

On a Girl's Road Trip, my friend and I decided to book a day pass at Joshua Creek Ranch in the outskirts of Boerne to use their pool using ResortPass. We had never been to the resort before, we the pool looked cozy online and we expected a small grill and bar next to the pool. When we arrived, the office and pro shop was difficult to locate, yet after a phone call, we found it at the far end of the property. The check-in process was quite simple, and we were quickly on our way to the pool. Parking was very close, and we walked a few yards to the entrance, found two lounge chairs, and proceeds to get comfortable. In the pool area, the staff was very attentive among the numerous guests. While the pool and hot tub area wasn't very large, there was enough room for most parties to spread out. We started a tab, and the staff was great about drink and food orders. They also brought us towels! The water was chilly, yet we were directly under the Texas sun, so it was more than welcomed. I enjoyed my Hill Country Sunshine which is a rum-based drink. We were surprised by the deliciousness of the shrimp taco which was filling. I loved the crunch of the fried pickles. Of the dips, I liked the cheese dip for the chips the most. We planned for a poolside day of rest and relaxation, and that's exactly what we got. Other guests of resort were super friendly as well and were great about sharing the limited chairs, tables, and pool space available. If you're not comfortable with hunting or hearing shots being fired nearby, this might not be the place for you. While we lounged, we heard shots fired the entire afternoon. We'll definitely kept Joshua Creek on our short list when we want to chill by the pool again - especially since I still want to try the Bluebird Sky on their drink menu. read more

An upland game ranch that has no business offering turkey hunts... Positives: Wonderful Ranch, great layout, fantastic food, great accommodations and warm and friendly staff. Negatives: 1400 acres with maybe half of it at best due to daily operations, suitable to hunt turkeys. When we arrived, we were informed that no gobblers had been seen or heard for two weeks, followed by, only one gobbler taken on the ranch in two years. 5 gobblers, 4 jakes and a few hens were all they had seen this spring. That was not the story when booking the hunt. Arguably, not enough to have a sustainable hunting program by any stretch. With three hunters there, had we filled two tags each, it would have decimated the flock, no professional resource management given this scenario. Sad situation in my opinion. Guides were friendly, but not seasoned turkey hunters and had no direct bead on where birds were at the time or their daily patterns. Truth be told, during our time there, they were roosting off the property, and the Ranch had no backup parcels to cover unforeseen circumstances, or lack of birds. Despite all this, I had one gobbler cross onto the property and closing under 200 yards only to go silent and never heard from again when the ranch truck pulled in directly in front of us a little over 100 yards to release pheasants for the soon to start bird hunt over dogs. My guide told me that the hunting manager is always aware of our location, and this is unacceptable and unprofessional for allowing ranch operations of one type of hunt to directly interfere with another. This is not my first rodeo with nearly a dozen successful hunts in the great state of Texas, and thirty-one spring and fall turkey seasons under my belt, and this was a dismal hunting experience. I have not been contacted by anyone on staff and was told that the incident with the hunt interrupted was communicated. Given what we learned upon arriving and not given reasonable choices to hunt gobblers where they actually are, the hunt should have been canceled and refunded. I was offered an even swap for a whitetail doe the first evening, and I declined as I came to turkey hunt. They are not set up in so many ways, in my opinion to offer a quality turkey hunt. read more

First class accommodation, hotel was clean and comfortable. the club house has a huge fireplace and a well stocked bar. The best meal we had there was their axis deer schnitzel, gotta try it. The hunting guides were cool and easy to visit with and made for a great stay. read more

One of my co-workers picked this place for her wedding. Let me just say that this is a beautiful setting, but you will have to work to get to it. It is well off the beaten path. This place is more a hunting lodge type facility, but they are expanding to other functions. They have lodge rooms and also have cabins. At this time, Joshua Creek was running fairly strong and was crystal clear. The giant Cyprus trees shaded the creek and was full of ducks raising babies. I took no pictures of the food served as the lighting was low. However, I can say the food was tasty and was presented well. The help was outstanding. This includes everybody from the folks directing your parking, folks directing you to different functions, bartenders, and wait staff. The waitstaff never let your wine or other drinks get low. I can't say anything about the rooms as I didn't stay in them. I can say that several people told me how nice the cabins were. It sounded like all the folks from Pennsylvania really liked the place. From seeing how nice this place is, to how great the employees and service is, I would definitely recommend Yelpers give it a try. read more

Joshua Creek Lodge is an Orvis and Beretta 5 star lodge for a reason! From the moment we arrived, we were taken care of to the extreme. The service is impeccable (credit Stephanie), the rooms/lodging is top notch, the food was extremely good and the hunting was superb. Our guide JZ took exceptionally good care of us and made sure the ladies were comfortable and having an amazing time! He was very knowledgeable and made sure we were impressed. The trap and clay course is top notch and great fun all in its own. There are pheasants and quail everywhere roaming free and the views from the Branch Haus, overlooking the creek, are amazing. I highly suggest you spend a weekend and if nothing else experience the food, hospitality and views! We will certainly be back time and time again. read more

This place is amazing! The grounds are always beautiful and the food is great. My children love it. Their guides are helping to safely teach my son the basics of marksmanship. It is an experience I never could have given him without Joshua Creek Ranch. My daughter looks forward to petting the friendly hunting dogs that walk around grounds freely. Both kids love swimming in the river, the hot tub, and the awesome pool with night lights. I'd equally enjoy this location for a luxury adults only, get away weekend. We typically see a mix of mostly adults, but also a family or two with well behaved kids at Joshua Creek Ranch. Everyone is really friendly. Even if you don't plan to hunt at all, the beautiful setting and great food alone, make it a win for all! read more

What an amazing place! We took clients on a bird hunt here and everyone was blown away. The staff at Joshua Creek was attentive to everyone's needs, they truly handled everything. The lodging is first class, well appointed rooms and common areas. Our guides were very knowledgeable of the property and where we would find birds. Each group of two to three hunters was able to come back with 20+ birds. The staff and property will impress anyone, this is one of the finest hunting lodges in the nation. read more

This is a great place. The clay shooting to so much fun but challenging too. The food for lunch has been the best we have had. We have also had dinner here, the food is wild game and we have never had a bad time. The staff are friendly and so accommodating. There are no recent reviews of this place so hopefully my two cents will help everyone out. The grounds are lovely. There's a beautiful creek (hence the name of the place) and gently rolling hills and the relaxing sounds of nature. Well, relaxing until you hear the gun shots. This is a hunting resort which is fine but we didn't partake of that part of it. I would imagine this place is heaven for hunters. Everything else is disappointing. The room was nice except for one very strange feature. You walk in and there's what appears to be a small wet bar by the front door. There's a small sink with a coffeemaker on it. Then you go into the bathroom and you realize that's the only sink in the room. Even Motel 6 has a sink close to the other facilities and a much bigger one at that (for much less than what we paid for this room). Having the sink there was super awkward. At first I thought it was designed that way for accessibility but the shower wasn't accessible so nope just a terrible design. There is also no closet. There are just a few hooks. So if you're there for a formal event and need to hang something up bring your own hangers. We wanted to use the pool but they said it was closed for a private event. Bummer. The next morning we go for the "full breakfast" advertised on the booking website. We were there at 8:30 so fairly early. The breakfast consisted of exactly three things: containers of yogurt, little boxes of cereal and milk, and one lone chafing dish filled with pre-made biscuits that appeared to have meat and eggs in them. That was it. No a single piece of bread to make toast, no pastries, nothing. It was severely underwhelming. Bottom line: if you like to shoot things maybe this place is for you. Otherwise I would avoid it as a waste of money. read more

This venue might be beautiful, but don't forget your guests will want to feel welcome. Oh! And as a bride, I'd venture to say, you don't want to hear staff talking loudly as you exchange your vows. After attending a wedding here I'd never suggest this ranch to anyone looking for a place to celebrate. The cash bar decided my husband could not purchase anymore drinks after buying a round for our table. The bartender delivered 10 drinks to a table of 8 (plus the bride and groom) and watched as we toasted with our glasses raised. This witness was too dense to apply common sense there after when my husband tried to purchase another drink later in the evening claiming "he had purchased too much alcohol". In addition to the lack of common sense by the bartender and venue manager regarding the sale and distribution of alcohol there was the horrible event staff. Picture this- beautiful cypress trees lining a backdrop for an even more beautiful bride and groom exchanging vows. Now add rude, obnoxious staff talking, yelling, and disrupting the entire service! At first I was embarrassed for them. But then when I could hear their voices over the grooms I became irate. This was also the same staff that could be heard arguing and fighting throughout the reception. From where I sat (on seriously cheap chairs) I'd say this venue is a greedy, money hungry business who cares very little about the success of your event. read more

This is a 5 start lodge . This is a great lodge and very good hunting and guides . Reason for 2 stars is we came all the way from LA to hunt here. We took our deer to the processing place they recommended called Alamo and would give them a one star. First off the are very expensive. Then our meat arrives in LA melted and spoiled . We paid for next day shipping but it arrives 5 days later. They do not use foam to pack the meat nor dry ice. They freeze and ship in a card board box. I have been hunting for 20 years and do this all the time and have never experienced meat packing and shipping like this. Then when I talk to them rather than fixing the problem they say " we put a claim in with ups". We need to wait and see what happens Really !!!! Alamo business is poorly run , they hardly answer the phones and when I texted the owner to see what can be done no return call or text. Normally I would not write a bad review for a small business since I am a small business myself but this is beyond rip off and bad customer service and I think the owner of the ranch should know to offer other meat packing places that are less expensive and more professional so the hunters don't have only one place to take their meat for processing. read more
