We just came back from our second time staying at Camp Comfort. We love it. It's a cute little property that is on the creek and features traditional motel style rooms but also private cabins. We stayed in the cabins both times and it was clean and had everything we needed for a short stay. The grounds are well-kept and the management communicates very well. Comfort has quickly become my favorite little getaway. Living in San Antonio it offers a quick respite from the hustle and bustle of city life and is only 45 minutes away from our home. The town is peaceful and has some good food, a few shops, and some wineries that are within a short drive. LOVE Camp Comfort and can't wait to return. read more

Such a cute place to stay, great location, gorgeous scenery. There's a few things that could be improved upon to make it five out of five stars. The room seem clean for the most part, and was really spacious, but the fridge was filled with old moldy food. It's a bed-and-breakfast, but there is no breakfast offered. The creek bed is dry, the pool is tiny, and only for the airstream, so there's no swimming option, which is really disappointing. It was really quiet, which was so nice especially for a cabin setting, but there was definitely no fresh grass, it was mostly gravel everywhere that got stuck in her shoes . read more

Camp Comfort holds a special place in my heart. My husband and I have stayed here multiple times to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries and also when we want to get away from our normal hectic lives in Austin and slow down for a while. We usually stay in the alley rooms and they are cozy and stylish. I adore the jet bathtub -- it is such a luxurious treat, especially after spending some time outside in the cold by the fire pit. The creek running alongside the property is just beautiful and I always love to sit beside it on a picnic blanket and let all my daily worries and anxieties drift away. Another one of my favorite places in the world is lying in a hammock under the canopy of one of the many 100 year old+ cypress trees that line the creek. The location is stellar. A delicious pizza from nearby Comfort Pizza, a couple of good bottles of vino, and some porch sittin' in the chairs in front of our room and I'm in heaven -- ahh I miss Camp Comfort already! Also, Comfort has excellent coffee and restos, yay! I just love the vibe of the city as a whole. It's artistic and laid back and not crowded with tchotchkes and tourists (looking at you, Fredericksburg). I almost don't want to share the secret of how great this place is. I'm bringing my extended family to Camp Comfort in a couple of weeks to celebrate my birthday, and we've rented out several cabins, alley rooms, and the Camp Comfort house. I cannot wait to play dominos in the main hall and laugh and share stories and take comfort in our being together and weathering a couple of tough years for us (and the world). Wow! This place is such a gem. I'm so happy I stumbled across it when searching for a 1 night getaway with my husband. The entire property is so well maintained, everything looks new. I tend to be overly picky with cleanliness at hotels and airbnbs and am the type of person to get grossed out super easy. I always find issues with places like stray hairs, dust bunnies, etc. This place was practically immaculate! Kuddos to their cleaning crew, I'm impressed. We loved the jet tub too, such a great feature. We attempted to use the fire pit, but after going through 3 fire starters and still unable to get the wood really going, we gave up. Thinking the wood was too wet. So my only feedback would be to maybe provide dry wood in the pits, and at least 2 starters per guest? And some yard games like corn hole and Jenna would be fun too! I also noticed pictures of some sort of small scale continental breakfast and assumed that was standard but just know it isn't. Maybe that is a seasonal thing or something specific to events. But just FYI. Highly recommend Comfort Coffee for coffee and pastries! Thoroughly enjoyed our trip and will definitely be back! read more

Nature spots in Texas are heavily booked right now, and this was a last minute find for us. It didn't disappoint. The trees are Gorgeous, the land is quiet at night, great for cuddling up next to the fire with s'mores. We got the loft cabin and the style is so cute. Comfort has a few wineries and is just a skip to other hill country towns. I had the nicest experience with the owners. I live far away and noticed I left my laptop in the cabin when I was too far to go get it. One of the owners, Lisa, answered the phone and was so kind about assuring me they would ship it overnight with ample insurance, and they did just that. She didn't even charge me for it. I will definitely be back for some relaxation and nature! read more

The word I keep coming back to at Camp Comfort is "thoughtful." The place is super cute: rustic buildings restored with modern conveniences. It's a mix of reclaimed wood and high end furnishings/fixtures. They didn't skimp on anything. You read that the tub is an air jet tub; then you find out it goes through a self cleaning cycle after every use so you're not bathing with a previous guest. See? Thoughtful. Breakfast is of the continental variety, but it's all whole grains, organic, just a little bit better than you expected. Even though it's an unhosted B&B, you definitely feel welcome and their care for making your stay pleasant shows. Spend some time at the fire pit at night; the S'mores kits are great and you'll find skewers in the room. You can be as social or as private as you want to be. Tip: if you're in the Alley Suites, look for the white noise machine in the nightstand. That will block any noise from the neighbors and get you off to dreamland in the comfy bed. read more

What an amazing stay. Our cabin was beautiful, beds so comfortable and luxurious that I didn't want to get out of it. Loved the views and hammock out by the creek. I relaxed and read while my husband walked with fishing pole in hand. We ended the night with a spectacular fire, so easy as they have fire starters and matches ready for you in your cabin and lots of wood prepped are ready for you to enjoy. Morning got even sweeter with a great buffet stocked with more than I could enjoy. Thank you for a great stay, we will be back and with friends! read more

I had such a lovely time at Camp Comfort. My brother and sister-in-law got married at Ingenhuett on High, and it was the perfect accommodation for the wedding party! Walking distance to the venue, and there was a fun gathering area in the middle with a fire pit! We stayed in Alley #3, which was super well decorated and appointed with all the amenities you can imagine. The decor was perfectly quaint/Texas while still feeling modern and high end. The social gathering hall was lovely too - we played card games that evening and it was a spacious place for us to gather indoors. Breakfast included yogurt, muffins, coffee, and other basics. The customer service is top notch - I accidentally left my hair dryer in the room and they shipped it back to me with a handwritten note - so sweet! Highly recommend! read more

Where to begin with this gem? Maybe I will start off with what prompted our trip to Comfort, was the fact that my wife and I were looking for some place quaint and hip to celebrate our wedding with a mini-moon. We had searched Groupon for weeks only finding a few things that jumped out at us and then one day I was digging around and this beauty popped up. We love us some small Texas towns and are no strangers to the quiet, quirky local business hours, and primarily vacant town squares...and that's how we kind of like it. So Camp Comfort. Phil and Lisa have thought of everything. There's not one stone that they didn't turn over. From the original deed to the property stretched on canvas on the walls of the Community Room, to the fixtures in the rooms themselves, to the fire pits, to the incredible jacuzzi tub and much much more. They literally took a piece of Comfort history that will now and forever be a part of history between my wife and myself. We will be back for sure. We spent 2 nights and it just wasn't enough for us. I could write so much more, but its just something you will have to experience for yourself. It's worth the drive, and definitely worth the stay. read more

Great folks run this place, which itself is their vision, crafted with their own hands. It's a bit pricey considering you're in the sticks of Texas, but you'll soon find out you're paying for an experience that respects the way you like to travel--as much or as little face time with the hosts as you desire. Really no better place to stay in town. We strongly recommend the easy-to-miss dinner option of the Welfare Cafe, a short 15 minute hop away on I-10. Since we got married so close to the holidays, we looked for a quick getaway that would allow us some quality time together. Camp Comfort fit the bill. This renovated & repurposed 1800's bowling alley offers all the comforts of a luxury hotel (like a jetted tub that could fit a football team) with the nostalgia of your first camping trip. The fresh fire wood, fire starter kits, & s'more fixins will give you the feels. There literally is not one single thing you could possibly think of that hasn't already been taken care of. Such a beautiful space makes you want to treat it like it's your own - they have thought of everything. Everything. The breakfast was amazing & the social hall was our favorite hangout. I don't know how I could possibly add anything new to the previous reviews. We came here because friends highly recommended it and we loved it! We will be back. We came at the end of August and it was hotter than you know what so we did not even entertain using the fire pits but I wanted to!! We are coming back in October and I will be having s'mores!! The owners have thought of everything. The rooms are very comfortable, breakfast is more than adequate, all the facilities are clean and neat. We loved the convenience of check-in and out. Not having management on the property was no problem at all. The location to town was perfect. We walked into town. We highly recommend Camp Comfort. I love this place and cant wait to go back. I am a total diva and I hate being uncomfortable. This is a dream come true. The rooms are so cute but are soooo comfortable. The rooms are nice and cool, bed is super comfy all the way down to the soft sheets! Free breakfast in the mornings. You can hang out at the social hall and play board games, sit on the porch and have a few beers, have a bon fire with smores or hang in the hammock listening to the babbling creek and the frogs. We stayed at Camp Comfort over New Year's and had a magical experience. We met couples and families, roasted smores, lounged in the amazing air-jet bathtubs, explored the beautiful trees and creek, and slept like babies. There's a large Social Hall if you need to do early morning work / yoga without waking up the rest of the family. Wifi is perfect.
