We stopped for dinner on our way back to Canyon Lake this past weekend and I'm so happy we did. They had recently rebuilt after a fire and I loved the new place. Plenty of space, inside and out and a chill, friendly vibe. The staff was great and I had the best spicy michelada that I've had in awhile. To eat, we had the sandy special and the chicken nachos. Both were tasty and the chicken on the nachos was great. As an added bonus, they have a few hummingbird feeders on the porch and we saw at least 15! read more

Love this place. It is a biker stop open on the weekends. If you dont know it's here you will buzz right past it. The atmosphere is super chill and the menu is simple. The brisket plate is my go to but I have tried it all and love it. It's open air but the breeze will keep you cool. The views are amazing and the owners are the absolute best. Husband and I stopped at Hillbillyz for lunch. I had a cheeseburger and a cold Miller Lite. My husband had a cup of pinto beans. My burger was perfect. Meat was really good quality. One of my favorite places to go anytime I am within a 100 miles of it. The place has a unique character and friendly people, staff and locals, that welcome you in. You can sit out on the deck and watch deer at the pond, there might happen to be a chili cook off and other events happening or arrive to find a group of classic cars. The food is old school diner style with a "Billy" touch and the best is that your ice cold beer hits the bar about the same time your butt hits your barstool. Well worth the effort to see. read more

Don't know if I want to write a review as this place is a little hidden gem that I'd like to keep to myself. But...."cats out of the bag" now. Beer joint. That's it. Nothing fancy. No dance floor. Has a stage for a band, but nothing fancy. Cheap beer. My only request, keep it Texas. All you tourist and transplants from east coast, CA and Mexico, this is not a little boutique place. It's not where you'll buy t-shirts and and stickers. It's a bike riding, beer drinking joint. No Texas "want a be's" please! As my wife said, everyone wants to be from Texas or the South. It was the perfect day. We were headed out of the great city of Austin to explore the great Texas Hill Country. We weren't about to let empty stomachs ruin our adventure. It was when that first pang of hunger hit that we saw that beautiful sign: Hillbillyz 777 feet away. Our car became so hysterically excited we missed the turn. We threw a U-turn and ran inside the perfectly placed restaurant right on pond. The atmosphere was second to none with deer heads, funny signs, and an Egyptian pharaoh on the wall. Our stomachs were quite satisfied with the sausage and brisket lathered in that signature Hillbillyz sauce (we finished the bottle). It was perfect. Our server was kind, courteous and on the ball. She even gave us a full loaf of bread still on the wonder bread plastic wrapping. If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend Hillbillyz. Plus, it's fun to kick back and play some poker with the regulars. read more

I was not impressed , all our food came out at different times and all of it tasted stale , brisket nachos , tea with no ice , I had a cheeseburger and meat tasted not like beef but a combo of meat/ mistary meat ! Maybe they collect road kill all week, but on a positive note the two guys that had a Reuben liked them , Come before noone , because it is a stinky biker cafe/beer stop , and they are loud and smelly as is the owner he has a discusting mustache that drags in the food , yuk !! We love Billy and his whole Posse! Beautiful Hill Country drive and great place to stop along the way! Billy will greet you with a nod and smile and in some cases, a giant bear hug. His brisket nachos make a good start along with a cold beer. If you have some more room ...I suggest his reuben or sampler bbq platter. You can sit inside the open air bar or do like we do and sit out looking out over the stock tank. When our ATL kids come into town, his place is a must stop along the way.
