When I pointed out the mistake, the staff and management did nothing to resolve it -- no apology, and no follow-up. We went here for a Valentine's Dinner. The cost was $110 per person for four courses, plus 20% automatic tip. We walked in, and the hostess didn't even welcome us. We were handed a paper menu at our table, and the fourth course had already sold out of one of the popular options. We weren't given anything extra for paying so much money. The sparkling water was added to the total of the bill. There was no Valentine's decor. It felt like a VERY overcharged dinner. We would have gotten better bang for our buck elsewhere. My husband's second course was the tortelli, where he received a total of 2 noodles on the plate. It was a tiny portion. It was over an hour and half before we were given our main course. This food did have good quality, but you can find better pricing elsewhere for the same quality. When paying so much money, you expect to receive a really good experience. So what a wonderful surprise to find this hidden jem restaurant! Everything is so wonderful! Nice ambiance, great music in background! Crabcake was absolutely delicious with great dipping sauce with fresh grated cheese! Then we had Apple Carmel pie with fresh cream and ice cream! I did not even know about this place until the other day I stopped to get a taco a couple doors down for lunch and tonight I went there and had the best crab cake i have had since 2008 in Virginia! My son had the steak and frites and it was also perfectly cooked. Delicious and very nice place. To top it all off Keith the Chief is a United States Marine!!! Semper Fi Keith! After real estate meetings near Boerne, I didn't feel like driving home only to face the kitchen. So I did a quick Yelp search of nearby restaurants. Since Valeria was 5 minutes away with good reviews, I made my way over. The restaurant sits off Main St in a little strip center which I would have otherwise missed. On the way in, I met a couple outside on the side walk. We all stood there looking at the strip center options. Peruvian, Thai or Italian at Valeria. We chatted and they asked which one I was going to as they were torn between Valeria and the Thai restaurant. They chose Thai and we joked that we'd compare notes afterwards. As I entered, I was greeted by Laura, a very friendly and knowledgeable server. As the restaurant was empty, I had my choice of the elegant white linen tables. The music playing was a nice mix of Sinatra style jazz standards which helped set the mood. Although dining alone, I thought it would be a great spot for a date night. Laura kept the conversation flowing, so it wasn't awkward for me to be sitting by myself. I ordered the flounder. No wine as I still had driving and work to do. It came with a buttery rice and grilled veggies. It was really delicious. It tasted homemade like something you'd make at home if you were trying a fancy recipe. I ate every bit of it. The only downsides? Prices are for fine dining. My entree was $32 for flounder, rice and veggies. Perhaps priced to offset slow traffic? And the walk to restroom went thru prep area, past office and many boxes/supplies stored in the hallway. However the restroom and entire restaurant was spic and span clean. Now the breads were delicious. But the presentation was off putting and did I say late? My entrée was a pollo con fusilli in a cream sauce. My expectation was a nice chicken breast, onions, fusilli and a thick creamy sauce. What I got was a plate with a mountain of fusilli, bits of chicken and very tiny onion pieces in a tasty, but watery sauce that held nothing together. It was actually awkward to eat--maybe serve it in a big bowl. Again off putting But the wine pairing was brilliant! Ok, so maybe my expectations were off base, but I was expecting a 4+ star meal--first time Yelp has let me down. Gloriously delicious food! Every member of our party of 7 loved his or her dinner. The Lobster Mac and Cheese was so rich and had soooo much lobster. The Spicy Penne alla Vodka was sublime; my son loved his with sausage. I had giant, delicious shrimp in mine, and frankly, the pasta didn't need them, it was so good. "Spicy" is a misnomer. It was perfectly "spiced," not hot at all. The mussels and fries were both generous portions and the fries were served with a truffle aioli--utterly delicious. Two diners had Crab-Stuffed Prawns and loved them. The Lobster Roll was better than ones we have had in Maine! We finished off with freshly-made (by our server) cannoli. The pastry tubes were completely crispy and filled with delightful cheese, dipped in pistachio, white and dark chocolate, served with perfect, sweet cherry garnish. These are definitely big enough to share. Valeria has a full bar and large, curated wine selection. Service was not fast--it shouldn't be--this was a meal over which we wanted to linger. We were renovating our home in Fair Oaks Ranch. One night it was late, we were scruffy, tired and hungry and fell upon you. Our first time there we were hooked. You became our go-to restaurant all the while we lived in Boerne. Essentially the only restaurant we ate at. You were always gracious and inviting. Terrific lunch today. It was my friend's BD. So I told him we'd do it up right. He has the Italian pot roast lunch special. It came with jasmine rice and some sort of potato. He loved it. I had Shrimp Valeria. You can't go wrong with that dish. Delicately fried large shrimp with the tails removed. How great is that? It too, came with jasmine rice. Also with to die for ribbon zucchini. So delicious. I asked about how it was prepared. The server states that is was salt, garlic and sautéed in olive oil. Ok, I'm being lied to. You just don't want me to really know the secret. It can't be that simple and taste so fabulous. And it is. If U made it, I'm sure it would taste like sautéed rubber slices. My friend had the lunch pork chop, bone-in with a potato side. To me, the potato looked like a lasagna. Pretty yummy all around we also tried the yeast rolls. Hot and sprinkled with some finely grated cheese. Just delicious. The lemonade is made with lemon juice and simple sugar. My friend really likes lemonade and refills were free. Cool. His came up as a sponsored result on Yelp. I suppose that means Yelp advertising worked on us. Exceptionally elevated prices not merited by the food delivered to our table at this strip mall eatery. A few examples include: $8 for a small plate of cold bread, butter and a few olives. $12 for a piece of chocolate sheet cake + vanilla ice cream. $42 for fried rice with a little seafood confit. I will say that the $12 Caesar salad was very good. They have a daily menu so many of the things Yelp listed (pizzas, paella) were not offered. I cannot understand why this owner has continued to comment on my review from years ago. He left nasty, belittling remarks after I gave a 3 star review based on a takeout order. He did not offer to remedy the situation or accept that my order just wasn't very good. I should've gotten screenshots of the first comments he left. As a previous restaurant manager, I would never dream of speaking to a guest in that manner. Today, over two years later, he is continuing to harass. I'm still getting notifications that he is commenting on my review. As a business owner, that is completely unprofessional. If you are so successful, you probably wouldn't have the time to harass customers from years ago. Keith- the system is not rigged against you.
