Asparagus and prosciutto
Tyra G.

Like a fancy French restaurant. We started with freshly baked crusty rolls and compound butter. The endive salad could easily be an appetizer. It was easy to pick up and take a bite. The flavors were excellent. We also shared the prosciutto wrapped asparagus with cheese on a crostini. I needed to cut it to eat it, but was excellent. He had a shrimp salad that he said it was like having a wedge salad. Super fresh tasting. I had been wanting to eat French onion soup and theirs did not disappoint! Let the bread cool off a bit before you eat that. The cheese pull was amazing. Madison was excellent and kept making sure my water was filled and was very pleasant. It's a beautiful restaurant with fresh flowers and a koi pond next to Cíbolo creek. I think reservations are requested. We were there early so they were able to accommodate us.

Brunch Bliss at The Creek! Been wanting to try this popular place for a couple of years and today we finally had our very first visit to The Creek Restaurant in Boerne for brunch--and it was nothing short of enchanting. Nestled beside the serene Cibolo Creek, the setting alone felt like something out of a storybook. The restaurant is housed in a beautifully preserved building that's over 200 years old, and part of it was once a church. You can feel the character and peaceful energy in every corner. We wanted to dine outside on the deck, where the sound of the water created the dreamiest backdrop--but it was a bit too windy, so we cozied up inside by a window instead. It was perfect in its own way--warm, inviting, and still filled with charm. The food? Absolutely delicious. Every bite was thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor--clearly made with love and care. From start to finish, the service was warm and welcoming, making us feel like treasured guests. We left feeling full, happy, and already talking about when we'll come back. If you're ever in Boerne, don't miss this hidden gem.

Shrimp Tampico

One of my friends invited me to lunch at this restaurant, and we both truly enjoyed ourselves. To begin with, it is so incredibly cute! Although a bit tricky to find if you are not from the area, the location makes you feel like you've taken a step back in time. This converted house now restaurant offers picturesque views while dining and loads of photo opps. The service was superb! Our waiter was attentive yet relaxed which was appreciated. Reservations are recommended as it gets quite busy, even during lunch time. I ordered the Shrimp Tampico. It had a beautiful presentation but was really under-seasoned.

Our server Savannah was outstanding and stopped by our table often. Menu for lunch was diverse, something for everyone. Nice atmosphere, right on the creek with a fish pond off the outdoor seating area. The food was very good and we had dessert too! Have been there several times and have always had good service and cuisine. We were celebrating a belated birthday for a dear friend and wanted to do something special, this was the right choice.

Shout out to our server Gerardo! He never failed on checking our food and drinks. He was genuinely happy to serve and added to the lovely atmosphere. Perfect night to be outside with my friend! A reunion with yummy appetizers. We had the Brie and crab cakes and Paloma's to catch up. The nature outside felt like we were home having a nice dinner, great company, great restaurant. The restroom was clean, free parking!

Too bad it has closed, this restaurant was the best place in town for a romantic dinner and a martini!

Takes reservations

Almost a month and a half beforehand, I made reservations online, which was quick and easy. For the occasion, they offered a special menu to help streamline ordering. The entrees were $28 and included either a mimosa or specialty drink. My mom and aunt both ordered the Southern Hospitality, which came with eggs, shredded hashbrowns, bacon, sausage, toast, and berry compote. My aunt paired hers with a mimosa while my mom chose a drip coffee. My little cousin had the mini stack pancakes topped with fresh berries and whipped cream. I was looking for a lower-carb option, so although I considered the omelette, most of the included ingredients were not to my liking. Instead, I ordered 2 eggs with added tomato and a side of hollandaise sauce. For my drink, I chose the Sunnycito coffee. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals! The presentation of each dish was beautifully curated. I really enjoyed my food overall, though I was not particularly fond of the hollandaise sauce. The flavor was not very enticing to me, and the consistency was a bit too thick. However, the Sunnycito coffee was absolutely superb! I almost ordered another one to-go. It was a beautifully blended, smooth, rich concoction inspired by a café con leche, or "cafecito", a Cuban-style coffee. When I looked over their regular menu beforehand, the drinks were labeled as either hot or iced, and I had only seen the Sunnycito listed hot, which is how it is traditionally prepared. Our wonderful waitress kindly asked if I would prefer it iced, and since I was in the mood for something cold, I happily agreed. I highly recommend this drink! They also add a hint of orange zest, which was such a unique touch and something I had never encountered before in a coffee. Despite how busy the restaurant was, everything seemed to run very smoothly. The staff remained attentive to everyone's needs, and our water glasses were never empty. I regret forgetting our waitress's name, but she was personable, sweet, and attentive throughout the entire experience. Altogether, it made for a very special and memorable Mother's Day celebration. I can't wait to return!

One oddity is there is a ramp leading to a door, but apparently that is not the entrance, at least according to the sign on the door. The entrance has stairs you need to ascend. So much for wheelchair and mobility issue friendly. We were seated quickly. Overall impressions are its clean, and normal restaurant chatter. There is seating inside, as well as outside, and apparently there is an upstairs seating area as well. Seating inside is close together, so this is not the place for conversation that you don't want others to hear. Waited quite a while without any acknowledgment of any kind, no drink order taken, nothing. After our waitress arrived, our drink orders were taken. At this point, since we still haven't received our drinks, I'm going to break from normal and mention the terrible service. I would normally wait until the end but this deserves mentioning. A different waitress approached and asked about our drinks. After another wait, our drinks arrived. Correction, the 2 coffees arrived. Not the Diet Pepsi that was ordered. On the plus side, my wife and daughter rated the coffees a 4.5 and 4, respectively. They did mention they were slightly less happy with the sizes. We finally placed our food order. Upon arrival, the food, fortunately, was excellent. My wife and daughter both rated the crepes 5 out of 5. I would rate the omelette 4.5-4.75. We are hoping the service was a fluke, because we had read good things about Sunny's, and their overall ratings are high. I can say this was one of the worst services I've experienced in quite some time, including fast food establishments. We will try again, and hopefully the service is better. So take from this what you will: Based on food and cost, I would rate Sunny's a 4.25. Factor in the service and I would rate it a 2.5, and wouldn't return. Hopefully our next experience is better.

The menu is on the wall and ordering at the counter. There are yummy looking pies in the case. We were happy to see liver and onions with 3 sides. It also came with an incredibly tasty muffin, which we were told was a type of bran muffin. The liver was very thinly sliced and nicely grilled. Sides were generous. We got drinks and my unsweet tea was nicely brewed, which in Texas is expected. Counter staff was friendly and service was quick. The environs are in serious need of an upgrade, which I doubt will happen to keep the prices low. As it is our shared meal and two drinks was about $25. We were very pleased with our meal, the restrooms were clean and easy access, and overall other than extremely dated decor this eatery is a Boerne classic!

Portions are good and getting the large portion may mean you can share with partner. Chicken fried steak is good, mashed potatoes are the staple of my choice. The other day my husband and I were there and as usual, it was busy. The staff is super friendly! The food comes out in the expected amount of time to make you feel like it was made just for you, but not from scratch, lol. I was disappointed in the mac n'cheese. It was extremely bland. And the corn was definitely from a can, not a bit of salt or butter. We shared a chopped sirloin and it was good. On other visits I can say I have enjoyed the chicken tender salad and fried catfish but really the chicken fried steak or chicken are my GO TO choices. I will say, if the owner is reading this...I know you are super busy, but your restaurant needs a good cleaning and refresh. It's kinda worn out. The chairs aren't comfortable. The booths need to be scrubbed, even the walls adjoining to the booths are dirty. Maybe your bussers clean the table tops great after each use, but the surrounding area is kinda gross. I am not saying I won't be back, or even that people shouldn't give it a try, just setting expectations and hoping that the owners make some time to get back to quality on every plate and at every table.
