This restaurant is a MUST if you're in town. We always stop here when we are up in Boerne, they have the perfect portions for sharing if you wish. We are always seated quickly and service is on point every time. You truly cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. So I have eaten brunch here a number of times with friends over several years at 259 Brantley's Bistro. I've tried a bunch of items off the brunch menu over the years and have enjoyed them all. This time I went big as it is quite a full plate and one I could not finish. But had the leftovers for lunch the following day. The wild boar schnitzel was nice and crisp with no grease taste to it. The bacon was delicious and the eggs were perfect...not too hard, not toò runny. The potatoes added a nice bite to the meal. The tiny green beans were nice but I didn't get an almondine flavor. But that might be me not the dish. As I have been on antibiotics. All in all well worth the cost of the meal. In fact I had plans to stop at another place for dessert but I was just too full. Now I ordered a frozen margarita for the first time there... I got a small. It was a very generous pour. In fact I drank little of it as I knew I was driving back to San Antono. Again unusual for me but you might want to take a driver when you try it the first time. We had a group of about 16 and the nook was set aside for us. We could not have had better service...two waitstaff, one for each side of the room. Our waitresses was very nice. Patient with people trying to decide what to eat. So many goodies to chose from, never rushing anyone, answering questions with a smile. My long table seemed very satisfied with their meals. Crab cakes, three sets of eggs benedict, salad with added shrimp, another wild boar plate and I missed one or two. The consensus of the bottom of the table was you had to try the pitcher of fresh berry lemonade and it did look wonderful! It is a bit of a drive from my part of San Antonio but when not rushing I used to take Babcock to Boerne Stage Rd with turns into Scenic loop rd and eventually crosses I10. My girlfriend and I decided to grab lunch at Brantley's Bistro on a Saturday. Our intention was to dine inside, only to find out that their indoor dining was closed but had the outdoor section open. Their outdoor area is heavily shaded and cooled down with lots of fans. We really enjoyed it. We ordered our drinks and food at the bar. We grabbed our drinks, and our board got to our table within minutes and soon after, our salads were served. We enjoyed everything we ordered from the Farmer's Board to their Greek and House Salads. I can only imagine how fun this place is when there's live music to accompany dinner and drinks. We noticed other tables ordered loaded potato chips and lamb sliders. Muffleta looked more like an Italian sandwich and had spinach on it? Olive tapenade was all but missing, though a decent sandwich, wasn't really what my husband had ordered. Turkey panino was on very good sourdough, but Turkey was sparse, cheese was sparse and slaw consisted of a few pieces of cabbage and minimal dressing. You only get a sandwich, no chips , no pickle and server didn't suggest adding anything. She did check on us when sandwiches were pretty much done. Then , I had the nerve to pay with cash. The normal brunch menu is already extensive but also features an additional daily special menu. Brantley's is beer and wine only so no cocktails. We each started with a cup of tomato bisque. It had a nice texture and was good but maybe needed a tad more flavor? Next up was the crab cake Benedict with roasted fingerling potatoes and a Hill Country Axis burger with sea salt fries. I had the Axis Burger, and it was literally the best burger I have ever eaten in my life. It tasted like it was cooked by smoking it, which gave it a barbecue flavor. Best advice if you visit Bourne. Eat first. Very few eateries As for this place, Awful experience. After long wait to be seated, We waited even longer to get our food. They ran out of food, fries were one. There is indoor and outdoor seating available After waiting and observing, Tables around us got served before us even though we were there first. Think our server had too much to handle Limited one page menu. Interesting. Not cheap but this is a tourist trap so should have known. Portions are ok. However don't get the yogurt parfait unless you only want fruit. Seriously like 2 tablespoons of yogurt and when we asked for more, they gave us another 2 tablespoons, if even All a la carte. Never got our sweet potato fries till end of meal, waited, asked, came fresh but too late. We already had been there for almost 2 hrs . Chips homemade but are thick and hard. Taco shrimp was cold, watery, filled with bitter tasteless cole slaw. The shrimp smelled bad, but I was starving at this point and asked for ketchup to wash it down . We arrived around 11 AM on Thursday, December 29, 2022. Didn't have to sit long before our orders were taken and we got to sit outside under a semi clear day. It's beautiful out here. They have a beautiful back yard where you can sit outside. they have music too. On the weekends. I had the lamb sliders and they were awesome and wifey had the grilled chicken sandwich which was awesome! We also ate or shared see salt fries, and those were Fabuloso! You have to have the ketchup too- it's homemade and it's got a spicy little kick to it - really good! Another cool detail is that on the menu it tells you where all their food comes from. I am a disabled combat veteran that suffers from severe PTSD from 7 combat deployments. I have had several surgeries due to injuries in Iraq. Needless to say I don't go out much. It was a beautiful Sunday on october 1st, 2022 around 4pm. My wife (Barb) asked me if I wanted to drive to Boerne, which is an hour drive from where we kive to go to 259 Brantleys Bistro. I was happy to say yes since I was feeling pretty good! We arrived and I walked up to the outside bar and wanted to order a beer. I asked the bartender named Billie, S. I asked her if she had a Pecan beer? That I have ordered there in the past. She gave me some attitude that they did not have that beer. I looked at the menu and ordered one that interested me. Correct response from her should have been: "Sorry sir, we currently don't have that beer is there something else I can interest you in?" She should of said that with a smile on her face. Not the sower look I recieved. I went and sat down and started drinking my beer. My wife grabbed the menus. After we decided what we wanted my wife went and ordered a pretzel appetizer, sliders and my axis burger. A few minutes went by and my wife went to the same bartender and asked her if the appetizer was ready. received. Said, " Everthing comes out at once" my wife was confused by her answer and said, "I ordered the apetizer to come out before our food. Hence the definition of appetizer." Billie, S. told her un a very rude sarcastic way "Have a good day and turned her back to my wife. The answer should have been, "Sorry ma'am, because of the outdoor setting we bring the appetizers out with the food." Then Bonnie the manager brought us our food and we asked what the bartenders name was. She informed us Billie S and asked what happened? We told her and she replied, "Sorry for that." She went over to the bar and spoke to the bartender that was visiting with 4 people sitting at the bar, when they all turned around to look at us it became obvious they had been discussing our complaint. Then we overheard Billie S talking smack about us. We left soon after without finishing our food or watching the band. Correct way to address that Bonnie isbto pull the employee to the side and discussed it with her. Never in front of other customers. I would like Chef Brantley to write my wife and I a personal apology for the behavior of his employees. I would also like to know how he retrained his employees to provide better customer service. Brantley's never disappoints! While we have had their dinner service on several occasions, we have never had anything from their brunch menu. What definitely stood out for me was the Avocado Toast which had blue crab. If this is on the menu, I highly recommend it. That's not to say the bisque wasn't good. It's just that the toast was THAT good. While today was about brunch, do try their dinner service. I particularly like their chicken fried steak.
