Service was good. I had a lobster roll which was not. The lobster meat was dry, like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for a while. Our drinks were also not very good. Very strong, but not tasty. DO NOT EAT HERE, simple enough, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY as this was the worst experience we've ever had in Ogunquit. We had a party of 6 people, 2 kids and the service started out bad, we should have known better already. The waitress (an older woman) forgot to bring the drinks, no utensils, forgot the appetizers and all the food came out at once. Well, the 3 boiled lobster dishes, were COLD, not even warm, and we let the server know, no response, spoke to the manager on duty (must have been a family member of the owners) and she was as cold and rude as the lobsters and insisted that they were hot, but then back peddled and said that they dunk them in cold water so that they are easier to open. This is total BS, eating lobsters for 40 years and never heard this before. They are pre-cracked (to make it easier for gullible tourists, I guess?) but that's part of the fun. She was so incredibly rude and would not do anything about it. Then the other dishes were served, the mussels seemed to be cooked in dirty dishwater and had NO taste, and also over cooked, the potato skins, were certainly not homemade and reheated from a freezer, ..echhh. The rude manager did nothing about about 6 HORRIBLE meals, and a total waste of over $250. We got up and left our meals to NEVER return again and ate back at the hotel! Again, do not waste your money! We told the hotel desk & concierge about the experience, and they told us that they heard from other guests as well, that the quality and service has totally gone way downhill over the past few years and would no longer recommend it to anyone. Read the other recent reviews, same issues, poor quality food, lousy service and above all a RUDE MANAGER. She could have saved the day, if only she apologized for the inconvenience, but no! Too many other good choices restaurants in Ogunquit, Wells and York , TAKE THIS OFF YOUR LIST! Hopefully by next year, this place will be closed down so others do not have to suffer. read more

Went here with my 2 daughters and my fiancé. One of my daughters doesn't eat seafood at all but they were very accommodating and I was able to get my daughter a grilled chicken breast with mashed potatoes. The lobsters are very rest and it's pretty cool that you can go out to the tank and pick out your own lobster that you would like to eat! All of the food was delicious. The only complaint that i would have is the waitress didn't seem to know the menu and she was forgetful about bringing things to our table after asking numerous times. Tried to give her a break as we are restaurant owners ourselves and know the business. Upon paying the bill we had to tell the staff how much we wanted to leave for a tip and she didn't seem happy with what we were leaving. She kept on saying well don't you want to leave this or give that. So that was a little awkward. Other than that I would recommend coming here if you want a delicious meal. read more

Very disappointed as we come here every year. My wife and I understand the restaurant industry but unfortunately this time was a dud. Very loud, very congested and it literally took 25min for someone to get us drinks , then when I ordered steamers they came out no problem however the butter and plate took another 15 min to get to us. Then after we got our lobsters we again had no plates and waited another 20 min to get them. Our sides eventually came out but what a disappointment as we looked forward to come here all the way from CT, and we were literally here for a day just to go there. I had never been to Ogunquit before and being a tourist destination on Labor Day weekend, finding a place to eat was challenging. I spotted Lobster Pound driving around and when I got there- an hour wait. But that hour became half an hour. My friends and I (7 of us) were seated in their beautiful picnic grounds and, wow, worth the wait!! Delicious and sweet lobster, and just warm and friendly. The lobster was so fresh and tasty! We got the steamers, clam chowder, lobster roll, escargot and two lobster tails and it was all delicious. I think this was the best lobster roll we had in the 4 days we were in the area. There was a wait of about 45 minutes when we went, but we got in a little sober by sitting in the lounge, which was great because we could see the lobster tank area out our window! The steamers were sweet and not too sandy. Staff was super pleasant. The only thing I didn't like was the blueberry pie, which seemed like boiled blueberries with a pie crust on top. We also didn't care for the escargot as it didn't have much flavor. I wouldn't call it pie. We went twice because the lobster was so good! read more

We have been coming here for years and there is a reason why it has been here forever -- they do lobster really well (I'm not sure why you would come where for anything else). You pick the exact lobster you want and the exact size and they cook them to perfection. Worth the wait! read more

So we went to this place at the recommendation of the hotel. It was our first (of what I hope to be many) lobster experiences and I was so hungry I could have eaten shoe leather and it would have probably tasted good!! The ambiance of the restaurant was pretty neat, the waiting area was outside and the weather was awesome so even though we were hungry it didn't seem like it took that long. They also have a live lobster tank and cooking area outside where you pick your lobster and they cook it to order! Very cool. We were sat and we had a kind young lady named Angelica (I'm not sure of the spelling) and she was really good! We both ordered clam chowder which was super rich and creamy, and we both decided to get the lobster (duh!). It was neat to go out and pick your own, I did notice that the guy basically up sold just about everyone (including us) so good talent stationed out there. We sat down and waited for our food. Here is where this goes from 5 stars to three. It was a solid half hour before we saw our food and I think the lobster was cooking the entire time because it was way overcooked! For the sides I got green beans (which were good) and a baked potato (which was extremely small). We enjoyed our conversation but the lobster was just plain rubbery (get the shoe leather reference now!). We did end it on a high note as the blueberry pie with ice cream was the highlight of the meal. If your going to make lobster your specialty then you have to give me good lobster for 5 stars!!! This very popular tourist eatery was very disappointing. To be fair, I did not have their specialty of boiled lobster. I can't judge that. However, I can say that the lobster bisque was bland and lacked lobster flavor. The seafood stuffed sole was over cooked and had the texture of mush with and bland and goopy sauce. The sides on my plate were a rice pilaf that tasted like an overcooked and bland box mix and overcooked asparagus that was tossed on my plate in a messy and haphazard manner. Another member of our party had the haddock, which was better but incredibly bland. The only dish that was declared a hit was the lobster pie. Perhaps one should only go here for lobster. What saved this place was fantastic service. Our waitress was incredible attentive and when one wrong dish came out, immediately had this corrected and brought out a complimentary salad. I likely would have given this place 2 stars if it weren't for the great service. read more

This time we were able to sit outside at the picnic tables and they are super spaced out which made me feel extra safe eating here during covid. Classic Maine seafood destination. A little touristy but the lobster is super fresh and the steamers were amazing!! Mussels were disappointing. Mashed potatoes were underwhelming - you can pick two sides with your lobster order. It's huge - almost like a cafeteria and so service can be a little slow Once you order you have to go outside and pick your lobster - not sure why this is the case; perhaps for the effect?? But they cook it in this huge vat and it is cooked to perfection. The main (pardon the pun) lobster guy is super friendly and willing to answer all my inane questions. You walk up to this outside lobster tank where, once you are seated, you get to pick out your own lobster and they weigh it and write it down on a card so the waitress knows what to charge. They provide you with bread and butter while you wait. I wished the sides we chose came out either before or at the same time as the lobsters. It wasn't till after we got them and I was a few cracks in before they came. The mashed potatoes were bland but the carrots were deliciously seasoned with what tasted like brown sugar. The service was a bit slow. We were told the wait would be 35-40 minutes and we did not get seated for 1 hour and 10 minutes later. Double the time they told us, which we would have gone elsewhere had we known that. The waitress also took awhile to get us anything. read more

Lots of trees and shade and Adirondack chairs. The wait staff was terrific! Such nice kids. Vegetables, zero in flavor, freshness, or even barely cooked, so there's nobody reviewing the work. Don't get the rice, that's straight from the dollar tree box isle. If you want a better meal, go to McDonald's, get the filet of fish, save $85. It's the worst meal BY FAR we've had in olgonquit in 2 years coming here. As long time customers of OLP, I thought it only right that I comment on a recent visit to the restaurant with other members of my family. four of us had ordered lobsters and steamers....one lobster out of the four did not appear up to their usual quality both in appearance and taste. lobsters are not a cheap entree so I asked to speak with the manager. after waiting 20 minutes for the manager, we were questioned as to why we would not eat the lobster, and given an "education" on lobsters and their appearance. All this in front of a restaurant full of patrons. I think I was more upset over our treatment by the manager than I was by the meal. Could have been handled differently I felt. I have many times praised OLP to family and friends as an excellent dining venue. with so many options in that area for lobster dinners, maybe time to try others. The manager was Taylor....i do not feel comfortable listing her entire name, but feel she should be addressed as to how she interacts with customers. read more

Rolls we got with dinner were clearly frozen variety and undercooked. My scallops were mush and tasted like bread crumbs. Stuff sole was frozen style and also tasteless.
