    Lobster Pie

Always drive by here, reminding me of a campground but never tried it. I came for the night to see the last show of Waitress at the Ogunquit Playhouse and this was nearby the hotel I was staying at. It's a rustic restaurant, I guess it's really known for their lobster because they have tanks with them outside. I guess you choose your lobster after you are seated, if that's what you want to eat. They weigh it and charge you. I didn't want to get a big meal because of the time. They had some good choices, from hamburgers to chicken sandwiches to grilled chicken or steak tips with your choice of mashed or baked potatoes or rice. They had shrimp scampi, spaghetti and meatballs. They had kids meals as well. So we started with the clam chowder and they gave rolls. The clam chowder was good! Next for the main course I ordered the lobster roll, with hot butter and it came with coleslaw and chips. The coleslaw was the best part. Sorry but the lobster was filled but had no taste and it seemed it wasn't really cooked and this is the lobster pound? Known for their lobster! It just had no taste at all and for the price, it wasn't worth it. Too expensive !! My daughter got the lobster pie and it came with baked beans and rice. Wow! First it was very small, and then it had no sauce and no taste whatsoever! Disappointing! And it was expensive for what you got. I guess if we were able to take our time, we could have ordered better options. I liked the restaurant, the waitstaff was friendly and helpful. It was clean, they have booths and tables. They said they only had tables but we saw some booths available. But it was comfortable. There's plenty of parking. But the food we ordered was not worth the price. Again, I guess we didn't pick good choices. I would come back when I'm in town and give it another try.

Had a great meal at the bar. They were busy- had just served a bus of almost 150. The bartender was well-informed about the menu and made several recommendations after I made a few inquiries. I tried the lobster Alfredo with wild Maine blueberry pie for dessert. The lobster Alfredo was excellent. Lots of lobster. It had a generous amount of sauce. The pie checked the box for eating some Maine blueberries while visiting-good crust. Nice space- great indoor and outdoor areas.

I've been coming to the Lobster Pound since I was a young girl and it never disappoints. This time, it had been quite a while since we had been here and wow, was it nice to be back. Cailey was our server in the lounge section of the restaurant and it was a wonderful meal. Cailey was so helpful and she is an outstanding server! Now for the food... We enjoyed our lobster rolls, both warmed with butter. Lots of fresh, delicious Lobster meat and a scrumptious bun. The cole slaw was fresh and crunchy and even the ridge chips were crunchy goodness. And to top it off for dessert, we had the wild blueberry Deep Dish pie. Make sure you leave room for this signature dish. It looks so unassuming, but I can promise you, you'll be dreaming about this little precious pie! It' was so good. What a treat it was to be back to The Lobster House. I can't wait to come back again sometime soon. Thank you Cailey for making our visit to The Lobster Pound so special.

Live lobsters and clams steamed right by the live lobster tank. The seafood doesn't get any fresher my friend's We were here in late October towards the end of the season but there was still a 30 minute wait. Once seated Whitney our server was Awesome as she took good care of us. We had lobster, steamer clams, scallops wrapped in bacon and baked haddock. The food was fresh as everything was moist and delicious. If you want to order the lobster the server gives you a piece of paper with your table number on it. Bring the paper to the lobster tank. They will weigh the lobster and record the price. Once you're seated at your table again your server will collect the paper and add it to your bill. The staff working at the tanks steam the lobsters and clams right there and bring it to your table. Parking can get a little tight so make sure you go early.

So I generally check their hours of operation and drive there for dinner. Unfortunately in the spring we were turned away although we arrived over 1 hour before they closed as they said they were short- staffed and the kitchen was closing soon. We found a different place to eat and since we parked at the public lot across the street, we found that they were still open and had many customers an hour past their closing time. This time we decided to arrive extra early to avoid the previous situation. It was a sunny warm day but we were informed that the upstairs deck was closed because they were short staffed. We were looking forward to outside dining but the first floor deck is small and all the diners appeared to be having drinks. We choose first available which ended up being inside. When we first sat down, the couple sitting next to us wished us good luck getting our meals in the near future. Apparently all the others customers around arrived after them and they were almost finished with their meals and theirs hadn't arrived. A server offered them a compensatory drink for their inconvenience. One accepted and the other told them that she was done drinking for the day. When their bill arrived, the second customer asked if her drink could be comped. Her request was declined because they said that it would have been applied to the second drink and not to the first. As for our dinner, we went for the colossal lobster roll - hot with butter. We prefer the roll on the side to avoid it getting soggy. The regular lobster roll is currently priced at $35 with 1/4 lbs of meat. The colossal is $45 with 1/2 lbs of lobster meat. Our lobster meat was overcooked as it was slightly rubbery. That's not the quality we have gotten used to from years of visiting this restaurant. They may have had an off day as they were understaffed.

Like, I'd probably go out of my way just to come back. It is a super unassuming spot behind the building of a gift/craft store and ice cream shop. There is a bar seating and patio. It was not too crowded at 3ish in the afternoon on a Monday; we were greeted warmly and told to choose a table. They didn't have a high chair but they had booster seats. I got a glass of brut rosé and my husband got the Pilsner on draft. Both were refreshing and delicious! I got a half dozen oysters (followed by another half dozen afterward) of the fresh oysters of the day, and also learnt this place is on the Maine Oyster Trail. For good reason too--they were probably some of the best oysters I've ever had. Shucked perfectly, with delicious cocktail sauce, horseradish, lemon and mignonette. So good I had to get more. I had a burger for my main, with a gluten free bun and no cheese for dairy free. They also have gluten free fries that are made in a separate frier, bless! My husband got the lobster roll, cold style and said it was absolutely delicious--his first lobster roll and everything he hoped it would be. On top of the food and drinks being great, our server was an absolute gem. So kind, so helpful, he went above and beyond to take care of us and ensure my food was allergen safe. He even went out of his way to get milk for our toddler in a fun kids cup. I truly hope to make it back some day soon!

First things first - parking is super easy, it's a free valet service (not obvious at first, as there is parking behind the restaurant, but you're greeted right away when you pull in). We walked through the bar area, over to the restaurant area (surprisingly the bar was quite full), and were able to choose a table by one of the two fireplaces. On the restaurant side, it feels very cozy, and homey, exactly where you want to spend a cold night, inside eating dinner. Our server was lovely, greeted us right away and provided menus. I started with a cosmo (they had flavored versions like strawberry, but I elected to go for the classic). For an appetizer, we started with the bacon wrapped scallops - the bacon was maple glazed, and wonderfully crispy, with the scallops cooked perfectly, and some micro-greens scattered on the plate - delicious. For entrees, my mom had the baked seafood stuffed haddock which came with a lobster sherry cream sauce, a massive pile of perfectly cooked green beans, and mashed potatoes (yum). I went with the duck special, which was absolutely delightful. It came with Brussels sprouts, and I subbed out the au gratin (I very strongly dislike sweet potatoes), for mashed potatoes. It was delicious. We were so full, we opted for dessert to go (chocolate cake), which was generously portioned, and decadently delicious. We really enjoyed the meal - this was a wonderful dinner to celebrate my mom's 80th birthday!

I chose the filet with a lobster tail, fingerling potatoes and asparagus. Everything was simply superb. Dress was casual and the place was clean.
