Laney & Lus has great healthy organic bowls, smoothies, coffee and tea, brownies etc. We have been long time customers and we are very satisfied the majority of the time over the past several years. I would give the business 4 or perhaps 5 stars however the atmosphere at the Exeter location is simply unbearable particularly during the cold months. We want to stay and dine in the cafe, but the music is always playing way too loud. I'm not a fan of the type of music they play but I could overlook that if they turned the music down a couple of notches. I'm so glad my sister found Laney & Lu--it was perfect after our morning hike. It's super cute, and super small, so be prepared for maybe doing takeout. I didn't find the staff all the friendly, but at least the food is good, and beautifully plated. I had the soba bowl, which could've been seasoned a bit more, but overall, I really enjoyed it. The noodles were perfect, and the vegetables added a nice crunch. Stacey loved her Fiesta Bowl with added falafel, but I preferred my dish. The kale chips were amazing--super flavorful and crunchy--and when I'm in the area, plan to buy a few containers. I look forward to trying the curry bowl. read more

I love the food here. The mediterannean bowl is my favorite and the smoothies are great. I guess I have usually been here when I can sit outside (which is nice)or I get takeout, because today I met a friend there who had never been and we sat in that back room. The noise was DEAFENING! SO DAMN LOUD! There was some kind of loud blasting/grinding going in the kitchen along with the banging of stuff and then the people sitting around us were literally YELLING. Later on they were banging chairs as they moved them for some reason! Maybe the worker was upset? So strange. This is not the place to go if you want to carry on a conversation. Finally got to try this amazing place today, and it was as close to a perfect meal as I could ever imagine. We had two of the grain bowls, a side of falafel and a cappuccino (my friend got a can of unusual sparkling water that she loved, as well). The staff were all amazing, friendly, and super careful of a food allergy I have. I asked about the coffee brand, and one staff member went back and brought me a bag to view, as I had never heard of the company before. There were lots of those little touches of kindness and wonderful customer service from all staff here. Coffee was quite good, by the way - a little nutty. While the prices were a little steep for the portions, the second you viewed, smelled and tasted the food ('works of art' would be more accurate), it was like a moment of enlightenment. Yes. This is what care and quality can produce, and it's worth every cent. The food was practically glowing with freshness, the flavors were clearly well thought out and expertly balanced, and the preparation methods were labor intensive (dehydrated, rather than fried, falafel!), and absolutely the better for it! I left there full, but feeling healthier than I have in weeks, and I would rank the taste of my meal as high as anything I've eaten in over a decade. And I promise you, none of those other meals left me feeling good about life, or my food choices. It's also the little (not so little) touches that make this a great experience. Biodegradable EVERYTHING. Welcoming, clean and spacious layout (for a little place). Open kitchen. Tons of drink options, as well as hybrid meal-desserts. All vegetarian: another thing to feel good about, without giving up one iota of flavor. I can't wait to go back. I was so sad when my açaí bowl was handed to me I almost said something to the cashier. I've never written a bad review ever. I've only taken the time to write 5 star reviews till now. Laney & Lu's website online photo definitely makes it look like I'd get a good amount for what I paid for but I did not. They did a nice job on presentation with the little fruit they had by strategic spreading out the fruit. I must say the check out girl was friendly, bathroom was clean and their outdoor courtyard is cute. But $14.50 for this açaí bowl was ridiculously overpriced. They gave me about a quarter of a banana (6 slices to be exact) four were cut SUPER thin last two were normal, (a whole banana would look a lot better in the bowl) 6 blueberries and 1 small strawberry cut into 4 slices. The açaí was suppose to be blended with almond milk if it was i didn't taste it and it wasn't enough because my açaí was so icy and had a few ice ball clumps that weren't blended. I thought I'd try a new store since I was in the area but I'll head back to The Juicery in Portmouth or Newburyport or The Juicebox just down the street in North Hampton for my usual delicious açaí bowl which is way bigger and has so much more fruit for only $10.50. read more

My knowledge of the area isn't great since I'm just visiting, but this isn't a place I'd expect to find in such a small town. Certainly better than many big cities so called wellness restaurants. If I'm in the area again in the future will definitely go for another big bowl of health! One of the reviews calls this place over priced for the amount of food and I couldn't disagree more.
