It's tough to distinguish Exeter Brewing from its predecessor, Sawbelly Brewing. Some of the servers remained after Sawbelly's closing. This is a great place in Exeter to meet after work. The bar is really nice. I ate on the restaurant side. The beer is fine but boring. I tried 3 of their hazy IPAs and they were practically indistinguishable. The oatmeal stout was OK but a bit sweet. I tried the wings, I don't not recommend them as they were dry on the inside, oily on the outside, and had no distinguishable flavor and no dipping sauce. They looked ugly on the plate. The Nashville Chicken was juicy but the honey sauce tasted peculiar and the honey seemed cheap. I would not get this again. The Monkfish looked beautiful on the plate when served but missed the mark, although not a disaster. The fries were served with low salt which I prefer. The owners are the same as Lexie's (which is consistently awesome) but the food seems unrelated. The acoustics are awful when it's busy. You need to yell to be heard. The service was great and parking was easy. I recommend the bar area for socializing.

The food is delicious, the wait staff cheerful, and the beer just right. What more can you ask?

Very family friendly- my daughter brings her kids here to see the farm animals. My sister enjoyed Lox Toast. I had the Korean BBQ Wings, as did one of my friends on the recommendation of Erica, our server. Delicious! Of course, we had some of their delicious brews. My sister did some samples and loved them all-Big Galoot Grapefruit, Rule the Roost, Ninja of the North & Hank's Pale Ale. I had a Cheek Squeezer which was very puckery and a Vanilla Stout #3 which was yummy. We had excellent service and were not rushed at all. Recommended without hesitation.

On weekends they open earlier so we popped in for some beers and an app. Very nice outdoor and indoor space, I LOVE that they had dark beers and not just IPAs like many breweries these days, particularly in the summer. We sat at the bar (as per usual for us) and service was fast and friendly. No complaints! I wish we had gone for lunch or dinner because the food coming out looked great. We got the onion dip to help the beers go down and that was fantastic. They grow all sorts of veggies on the premesis and they source local cheese/ingredients so it's a nice concept. My only complaint is that there were several signs outside and inside saying to wait for the host to be seated and we waited a LONG time and then she said oh you can just sit at the bar. So, maybe put that on one of the signs? Usually the bar is seat yourself but when there are multiple signs as you walk up saying to speak to the host before sitting - idk I'm gonna speak to the host. I'm a rule follower. Not enough to turn me off, we will likely be back!

This place is everything I love in a brewery. Private parking, graffiti, brewery sticker display,…read morecool merch, decent music, arcade games and food! Driving in I asked my husband I asked what Kettlehead is known for an he said: Beer. Yet somehow, I can't love Kettlehead. A few things occured that damaged the experience: 1. The waitress spilled a sampler all over my wristlet and cell phone. She was oblivious but she has been spilling it the whole walk to the table! She seamed put out i asked of they had bleach wipes as we were in from out of town and i didnt want mty cell phone smelling like beer all weekend. 2. The waitress stated the coin change machine is wonky and they don't own it. The coin machine worked fine but it was the first game we played, Tokyo Drift, that ate our money. I reported it and seamed like the guy didn't care. He didn't offer me a $1 to make up for it nor did he shut down the machine after my report. I feel like if you have it in your place, you should stand behind it. An issue, it should become yours. 3. The pretzels are terrible. They are like sliced and fried with no flavor. They looked like little hot dogs. We go to a ton of breweries and this is the worst pretzel experience we have ever had. Also, the waitress told us the mustard was the beer cheese and vice versa. My kid was not to happy when she ate mustard! But also, the worst beer cheese we have encountered as well. Her excuse, she has been up since 4am. Well, my husband wasn't wrong. He raved over their beer. Nobody was impressed with their food.

Then we popped over to the restaurant and grabbed a table for some food. We only ordered chicken tenders, which came out quickly and were sweet and crispy. Our server was nice, they were a little disorganized and I think we would sit in the " bar service" area next time and just buy stuff ourself and bring it outside. Overall, good time, nice place and they had beers that were not IPAs so those are all good in my book.

While Smuttynose doesn't have a cat (that I'm aware of), we were pleasantly surprised to meet the resident good boy, a black lab named Willy! What a treat. He is so friendly and freely roams the bar and beer garden. Cute pup aside, I love their facility. The outdoor area hosts a variety of seating options, including my personal favorite: adirondack chairs. This place would be an ultimate summer hang if I lived closer! You don't even have to go inside to order a beer - just walk up to the order window. I tasted their fall offers: Oktoberfest and Pumpkin Ale. I thoroughly enjoyed both, even purchasing a variety pack to trek home with me that included both the Oktoberfest and Pumpkin Ale. Their flagshop brown ale is called Old Brown Dog, and when we visited, they had a stronger version on tap - Very Old Brown Dog. The Very Old Brown Dog is one of the better strong beers I've tasted in some time. Definitely a sipper, especially if you're driving - but boy, it was smooth and very tasty in spite of it's sub 10% abv. The tasting bar is no frills at it's core, but clean bathrooms, fun merch, and good beer are flowing. There are some snacky foods available for purchase, but their restauarant is just across the parking lot if you're seeking a substantial meal. Lots of parking, great outdoor gathering space, smaller indoor seating area - would be great for summer hangs. Lots of tasty beer and a good doggy await. Smuttynose is one of my favorite breweries I've visited in recent memory.
