Excellent service and very reasonably priced with what I call the Dover Discount. This meal easily $20-$40 more expensive in Portsmouth and $50 more expensive in Boston. Long time customer. They are doing their "Winter menu" and they dropped the famous Fish & Chips... Bummer. Previous years they kept it on but now one of the key items is no longer available. Tried a new item, BROCCOLI RABE, and it was ok. A little over cooked, salty (which over powered some of the ingredients) and the portion was much smaller than expected for a green. Overall the menu prices also went up, will probably try other options next time we are in Dover. read more

We went a little later on a Sunday night and they were out of a couple of things but that's okay. They have a great menu and we chose the fish and chips as well as mac and cheese for some comfort food on a beautiful fall evening. To go along with us, we ordered a old fashion which was probably one of the best we've had in a long long time. The fish was an ample portion of white fish with a great beer batter cooked on the outside to a crispy texture and the inside was soft cooked whitefish. It was delicious. It came with coleslaw which was way above average and some good fries. The mac and cheese past the test and we enjoyed our dinner immensely. The service was beyond belief. We talked with both bartenders as we are new to the area and they gave us great suggestions for food, drink and entertainment around the area. Going above and beyond this type of service. Will make sure we come back soon. It's a great little place kind of in a strip mall, but the inside has a great ambience. We loved it. One of the better pub beer microbrewery vibes we've had in a long time. We will be back. read more

I went to Chapel + Maine on a Saturday evening around 7. I was greeted with a smile and immediately seated. It was a busy night, but service was prompt and inviting. Having previously previewed the menu I had a general idea of what I wanted. I asked a few questions, and the server recommended the fish and chips. Oh how I wish I had gone with the meatloaf sandwich instead! When the fish arrived it was so HEAVILY breaded that it was hard to taste the fish. After peeling it off of the two filets, I was able to finally get to the fish. The fries underneath were extremely salty. The cole slaw was tasty. Overall it seems like a nice place for some very basic pub food. Most likely I will not go back. But perhaps, I will just to try that meatloaf sandwich that looked absolutely amazing. read more

Eclectic but subtle, C+M offers a nice open seating area with plenty of seating and lots of unusual art to survey including the seats themselves. You'll spend some time trying to remember which home kitchen you saw such and such a chair at. The menu is equally diverse. The corn doggies I could eat all day long and the roast pork sandwich was both unique and excellent. I wanted the butter brown brownie but I was full so, another time. Service was friendly, I thought the drinks could have come quicker considering it wasn't that busy but that's only a small complaint. read more

Outstanding! Met a friend here for lunch on a Sunday. Was surprised to find a bluegrass band playing when she and I arrived! We sat at the bar and our bartender/server was attentive, friendly and had great recommendations. The harissa pork stew was delicious, so was the meatloaf sandwich. Clearly a skilled chef made these seemingly simple comfort food dishes launch into the stratosphere. Will definitely be back! read more

Had a reservation for 7:00 and it was packed. It's 7:25 and we're still waiting. They came and Kept us up to date. Still . . . We've looked at the menu and know what we're getting. Nice vibe inside. No one's rushed. Plenty of room. Can see service is slow and they are understaffed like everywhere else. Will update when we sit and get food. Update: seated 7:35. Ordered drinks, food and asked for check all at once. Wait staff is great. Drink came in moose glass. Was told they get glasses from thrift stores so they are all different. I'm not a complainer. I'm patient. We ordered at 7:40. It was 8:30 before we got the food Hubby got fish and chips. Excellent and huge portion. Fries had way too much salt on them. Son at UNH got Korean fried chicken sandwich and enjoyed it a lot but wished he got fish and chips once he tried it. I got autumnal salad which was fine. Because of timing we would only do take out. Great IPAs in Dover! Who knew? We were after excellent IPAs and dinner. We are pretty difficult to please when it comes to beer, but WOW every one of the IPAs was good, and three of them blew our socks off (Dragon, Stomp Box, Show Puppy). Our group of seven made reservations for 6 pm on a Wednesday evening and we were seated right away. Our server was super-personable without chatting unnecessarily, was aware of what we would need and made sure we had it. Food was really good too. Fish and Chips was probably the best of what we had, but everyone was please with their meal. Our only complaints: It's pretty loud and we didn't appreciate the pork chop art or the mural on the walls (art is subjective though, right?) Thanks to Ben and staff for a great evening, and especially the Stomp Box. read more

We used to love coming here, but it seems like the menu hasn't changed in a while and the dishes on the menu aren't great. Feels like someone maybe gave up? Or there is a change in ownership? There actually was not a single thing on the menu this time around that my husband and I were interested in even ordering. I was at least excited about fried artichokes on my salad, but when they came out, they were just artichokes out of the can with Italian dressing. I ordered the mussels and asked if they would be spicy at all. Our server said they were not spicy at all, but they turned out to be so spicy that I couldn't even eat them. We LOVED the food here! And the cocktails. And the friendly staff. We were visiting our kids, and this spot was suggested by them. Located in a funky Dover strip mall, with more of a bar-like interior, we were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was! I don't remember what everyone else ordered, I just remember that all of us were impressed. I tried the Shrimp Orrchette (sp?)... DELICIOUS!!! So, after being turned down at four different restaurants in Dover, mind you it's 6 o'clock on a Friday night lol, we ended up at Chapel and Maine, my husband likes to go here after the cigar bar, I have not been very much, so I decided I wanted to try it. We were greeted at the door by a great gentleman who gave us a seat in the waiting area and took a cocktail order for us, two seats opened up at the bar so we then moved to those, we are David was our bartender comment made us great drinks and the meal was incredible. I had a Warm, spinach salad, my husband had the tomato soup. Both were amazing, I got fish and chips, then my husband had the steak Frites, everything was just delicious.!! Ok so I've been here a few times and the food was always good. we ordered takeout tonight- didn't get the French fries, I called back and requested the fry charge be refunded. They said no problem.
