    Diamond in the rough!

What a surprise! Diamond in the rough.... Went down to Kittery, ME for dinner and all but this place was closed. So we didn't have much choice. Picnic tables out front and a very good review so we decided to try it out. Was very surprised after trying the food I thought it was going to be just another sports bar... but congrats to the kitchen very very good! Very reasonable prices... Drinks: 2 Miller High Life $8 House Margarita $11 Dinner: Smash Burger $12 Tomato Soup $8 Zucchini Chips $8 Decorations: Pool table TV's Typical sports bar

Surprisingly good gastro-pub! In the quaint and peaceful Kittery village proper (a nice counterpoint to the bustling and oh-so-commercial outlet mall area), we were looking for lunch but many places were closed on this Monday. Fortunately, we stumbled upon the Corner Pub and were we pleased with this unassuming place! I had a pair of hot dogs - yes, quite ordinary for sure - but these were gussied-up gourmet hot dogs, dressed to the nines: one with a mild sauerkraut and bourbon-honey mustard; the other with carmelized onions and a mustard tartar. Delicious! My daughters had: an excellent pulled-pork sandwich; a grilled chicken sandwich with avocado aioli; and a solid smashed hamburger. My wife had a beautiful and tasty spring salad with whole spears of asparagus, along with a 3-cheese grilled cheese sandwich, oozing with goodness. What a pleasant meal! Wait service was a little slow to prepare all these dishes with care, but the staff was very pleasant and attentive.

What a fun little spot in Kittery! Great service, food and drinks! A absolutely relaxed Sunday spot.

Coke & Bourbon Meatloaf smothered in bourbon honey mustard cream sauce w/mashed potatoes and roasted Brussel Sprouts

The Corner Pub, 4 Wallingford Square, Kittery, ME - a Chef in hiding. We were out shopping at the Outlets on Rt 1 and needed food, something quick and close by. A Google search turned up The Corner Pub, in the actual "old" town part of Kittery (by the Naval Base). Small, usual looking pub. We shared an appetizer of a bowl of their chili...very thick & good, but not a "spicy" version, lot of beef and no beans. Spouse ordered the 4-Cheese Grilled Cheese w/ tomato bisque. She says the grilled cheese was excellent...lot of cheese. I, being a meatloaf lover, ordered the meatloaf...described on the menu thusly..."Coke & Bourbon meatloaf smothered in bourbon honey mustard cream sauce w/ mashed potatoes & veggies". Our waitress described the "veggies" as (the usual) Zucchini mix, Nope. Roasted Brussel Sprouts showed up, in a glaze; along with the mashed potatoes; both of which were unexpectedly excellent. The meatloaf, however, defies description. When the waitress came over after my first bite, I mentioned to her..."You have a CHEF in the kitchen, NOT simply a Cook, correct?" The meatloaf, while not being your typical tomato or brown gravy-based version, was "out of this world". A bit sweet, but not overpowering...done to perfection. Delightfully different. I met Jamie, the chef, who advised the bourbon honey mustard cream sauce was a "southern" recipe he had picked up and modified. Nice guy. I advised him I would look forward to an expansion of his menu as time goes on...it was THAT goof... (and I'm a picky patron). He obviously has talent. I recommend the place for a tasty meal. Things were a bit slow as he's working alone in the kitchen (and looking for more staff); but with the quality of the meal...I really didn't notice the delay. Go there!

    Fun outside seating!

Fantastic low key neighborhood bar in the most interesting part of town. Smart owners make the place fun. Outdoor sports on the big screen, good hot cheap food. Nice prices, great service.

Statey has just recently opened up, which replaced State Street & while I live in Vegas now this definitely was on my list of stops while home visiting. I finally got to go in last night to check it out. It is very big & kinda open but not too open around the dinning room area. They have plenty of seating on the floor & around the bar. It was great to see Mo a long time bartender still working for them. They were having karaoke night & they have a nice little stage out back for the "maybe soon to be famous singers to perform on". It started @ 7/8pm (can't remember) & went to midnight. No cover charge to get in. It wasn't very packed here on the Thursday night I went, but I have heard that it does get very packed to the point that you may not be able to get in. So keep that in mind when heading over to check them out! I didn't get anything to eat as I was not hungry. My cousin got the fish sandwich with tatter tots. He said his sandwich was good & I had a few tatter tots which were yummy! They still have their famous lobster roll for a crazy, reasonable, too good to be true price! My Mom had asked me to check on this for her as she loves their (State Street) lobster rolls. I do want to go back before I head home to have one as I have in the past & it was very tasty & they fill the bun up with plenty of lobster meat. They have one of my favorite flavored vodkas, blueberry so I was drinking those up. It was nice & cozy in there, temperature was just right. The bathrooms were clean & they have more then one stale inside their rest room so I never had to wait. State Street had less bathrooms & that would make for a long wait when needing to relieve the bladder. I saw some familiar faces while I was in there. Their door guy for that night, Aaron was a really nice guy. Friendly & smiling all the time. You definitely need to check this place out. Stop by for a drink (or two) and/or a bite to eat! I will be back before heading home & on my future trips back to NH!! So happy that they brought State Street back!!!! Thank You!!!

My wife was visiting a friend near by and my brother in law recommended we go here for pizza…read more Well it was a good recommendation for many reasons. First one was that there is plenty of parking. And plenty of outdoor seating for when the weather allows that. When we first got in the hostess told me it would be about 10 minutes, but we were welcome to sit and look at the menu till they called us for the table. It was only a 5 minute wait and at first I was surprised we couldn't just be served at the large high table at the entrance where we were seated and waiting which looked like it was for several parties or even one large party, but even when we were leaving that table was empty so I guess they either save it for a very large party or just for people to sit at while they wait for their table like we did. Either way we didn't wait long so that didn't bother me as I thought it might at first. When we were seated, service was extremely fast, so fast that at first I thought they just want us out. :p but they are just that good. And our waitress brought me my soda without ice which many servers forget and would get me a refill before I was even done with the soda and even asked if we wanted water as soon as we sat and bright us some. When the food arrived (which as I mentioned was extremely fast even though the place was packed), everything was amazing. We started with shrimp and the Brie which were in the specials. Shrimp was fresh and you could really tell, and the Brie had a nice assortment of apple slices, almond slices, bread and cranberries making it feel like you were also having a healthy meal with your pizza and fried food :p. We had the truffle mushroom pizza and the only complaint my mother had was that it had onions and rocket which she didn't like on the pizza, but that was her fault for not reading it on the menu as we could have easily just asked for it not to have that. She just saw truffle, mushrooms and ricotta cheese and said im having that. Which was what I wanted too but I was ok with everything else too. Well we both enjoyed it and I even took the left over pizza to have for dinner later :). I don't live nearby, but it is a place I would recommend to others who go by there and when we come near here again I know where to go eat if I'm in the mood for pizza. The only complaint is that it was too loud for us, almost felt like a sports bar without the sports tvs playing everywhere, however they do have take out as well, so you do have that option too if you live nearby.

Plenty of lot parking so that's always a plus. We walked in on Friday for lunch and it was fairly full but we were seated quickly and orders taken. Very rustic ambience and service was quick. Unfortunately, the food was just ok and didn't knock my socks off. We ordered the Brussel sprouts, pork belly steam buns and the margherita pizza. Brussels were fried nicely but the ginger sesame sauce was very strong and I would probably preferred the sauce on the side. Pork belly buns were just ok as well. We were here for the pizza so were excited to try it - pizza unfortunately was just ok as well. Food is subjective and always based on preference so please take this review with a grain of salt - pizza was a bit doughier than I'd like - I prob should've asked for it to be well done if even possible and the sauce tasted heavy on the oregano - not something I'm a big fan of. All in all - not bad but not great. I just had such high expectations - maybe a different pizza might've changed my mind. But def don't skip out on going next door to try some samples and get some bread - the bread is amazingly delicious.

The Gumby's are chicken strips kinda like clam strips and my son loves to dip them in the teriyaki sauce although there are more choices for sauces; buffalo , ranch etc. the kids menu wonderfully priced for parents and the selections are very good. Of course my boys always order "the burger!" Every server I have had here is fast and attentive. I don't know if they give aptitude tests before hiring but for all the years I've been coming here the servers are the best in the business. There are a lot of choices for food and it is a typical sports bar/ restaurant with big screens of golf , rugby, football and baseball etc. when I go here I feel comfortable and very happy with the food so do my picky kids. They have trivia nights and all that stuff so if you are Planning to eat here I would suggest making sure what night is trivia night because every seat in the house is taken.
