If I lived in Portsmouth, Dwyer's would definitely be one of my go to places. Just off the main street, this Irish Pub is welcoming, has a great draft selection, and great food. We visited on Friday night and sat at a table as the bar seating was pretty packed. Crowd was pretty chill - a mixture of people in their 20's having drinks & apps, and then older couples/families enjoying dinner. We were happy to see Smithwicks on the draft menu, and we also got a Downeast cider with a caramel/cinnamon rim. We ordered the house made mozzarella sticks, which were ginormous, crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and all around delicious. We all opted with different types of burgers - sliders, fried chicken, and a pub burger. All were served with fries and were perfectly cooked. The coating on my fried chicken was crispy and flavorful. Service was awesome - our glasses were never left empty! Best of all, Dwyers has a free jukebox packed with favorites. Looking forward to coming back on our next visit to Portsmouth - we'll definitely be trying the deviled eggs, wings, and fried oreos! read more

Super fun place with a Celtic session on the weekend, but my experience with the obese female bartender was beyond inappropriate. After spending aprox $250 on drinks we were asked to leave our table before we were done because there were other people waiting for tables. I understand that it's a busy St. Paddy's weekend and they need to turn tables over and make $ but it was quite jarring and rude AND we were getting ready to order food. I enjoy this place but i won't be returning. If you want average food and drinks, which is forgivable because of the fun music, and would like to be treated like crap on a Saturday afternoon, Dwyers is the place for you. read more

Portmouth's hidden gem. It looks like a nothing special on the outside, and you might be tempted to pass it by. Don't! The food and service are both consistently EXCELLENT! I was quite impressed with this establishment! It is a small, unassuming pub with limited seating inside. The food served is of a very high quality. The service was great. However, it was a bit slow. The lady running the bar is the same lady who takes orders from the tables, so service is a little less speedy. However, this is consistent with the style of what a pub is, which is a little more self-service in nature. Just be a bit more patient with the speed of service. Every single morsel of food that I had was spot on. There's a few ways that you can enjoy this place. They offer a selection of small bites and large bites as appetizers. You can order a few of those and share them tapas style for your group. If you're going to do this, I recommend going for the large bites. I found the large bites to be shareable for up to three people. I did it this way for my party of three, and it worked perfectly. The bruschetta that I had was very well done. This was impressive, considering that this isn't an Italian restaurant. The bread was well toasted and the toppings were great. I tried their Dwyer's Famous Chicken and it also was great. I had them as tenders. The breading was crispy and well seasoned, and a great dipping sauce was also provided on the side. You can have them toss the tenders in the sauce if your choice or serve it on the side. It looks like they did both for me. Delicious! I also ordered their crab cakes with fried green tomatoes, which were some of the best crab cakes that I'd ever had! The crab meat was tender and flavorful, and it was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Very high end fare. Spot on! Lastly, we ordered some nachos as well with pulled pork which were also delicious. Nice, hearty portion of tender pork with a variety of condiments. Again, fabulous!! There also is ample selection of creative craft cocktails and beers to accompany your meal. I had their "gingin", a concoction that includes gin and ginger liqueur. Delicious! The drinks will not disappoint. There's two reasons that I haven't gone for five stars. The first is that the service was slightly slow. The other is that they were out of some soups that were on the menu, as well as some salmon bites that were on the menu. We requested both and were forced to change our order because they were out of both things. Overall, however, it is a truly great restaurant. The service is friendly and the food is fairly priced and of incredibly high quality. I highly recommend this place!! read more

First time, friendly staff, but very few pubs, actually in Ireland, would charge $13 for a glass of wine. A lot of up charging on the menu, and a 'four leaf clover' printed on the menu. No shamrock? Seems like a popular place for locals. Time to try other venues. read more

Wonderful experience! Meghan and Abby are lovely and efficient servers, and the food was incredible, especially when you consider the unassuming but cute Irish pub atmosphere. We split a house salad which had a delicious house made dressing, crab cakes and fried green tomatoes, a pulled pork sandwich and a fried haddock sandwich - the house made tartar sauce is out of this world! Came here on a whim while in the area after thrifting. They were having trivia night but was gracious enough to let us snag a table to eat since it was late. Decent small pub in Portsmouth. We stopped in on St. Patrick's Day for a drink and to our surprise the bill was $104 for six shots of Jameson and 6 Guinness drafts. A bit overpriced, not sure if that's normal, but I won't be back to find out. read more

Consistently great food and drinks! Fun casual vibe. The food here is fantastic. Highly recommend the scallops. I will try to find a picture of them. Noel makes great craft cocktails and they typically have special drinks for holidays. Depending on how hungry I am, I'll either get a side salad and a taco or appetizer, or a full size entree. Charlotte is the best. She will mix you the right drink that you're looking for and provides great company. The place is really cozy and has a nice dart bird and old school pac man game to play in the corner. The juke box is also a juke box that continuously plays is a nice touch. read more

Very impressed with this cozy little place, which is tastefully decorated in a fresh and contemporary style. Had a pilsner, which was great, but I regretted not having a pint of the black stuff, since it looked top class. I had dinner and drinks with four friends last night at Dwyer's. We are all locals, some us native and two new arrivals. The food was delicious. I had the small plate of scallops with mashed potatoes after sharing appetizers. The scallops are delivered daily and were cooked perfectly.
