Small business tucked off a side street near downtown Portsmouth. Don't come here looking for a beer from the grocery store. They do offer some wines. ciders and N/A options, but their main fair is there stuff on tap. I ordered an all IPA flight (which comes in 4s) [for $10!!!!! Well worth it!] * Young Upstart: 6.6% ABV - a bIt muted for an IPA * Bernuda Tattoo: 6.9% ABV - slight more hoppy than the Y.U * To Vera: 7.5% ABV - fruitier notes as a Hazy WCIPA * Nielsen Schmielsen: 7.7% ABV - as a double, this is quaint As for food, they have a small selection of snacks, sandwiches and "tube meats" and some shareable. the music is good, not mainstream stuff. and the v8be is very neighborhood spot. Come foe the drinks, maybe a snack, but come during the warmer months, as I'm sure the patio opens up and it's a much better scene. Wait staff could be a bit more engaging. Overall, I'd come back to try the food, it's unique to see "tubed meats" on the menu. I'm getting a lot of German influences when. it comes to the menu.

Was in Portsmouth to buy a new car and stopped here for a beer and a bite for a quick dinner and it hit all the marks. Very friendly, kind and quick service, chill and casual space to hang, and solid brews and food. I had the burnt end dog which was tasty -- snappy and lots of flavor, but it was a bit smaller than expected so I also got some savory pretzel bites that came out nice and hot with mustard and pub cheese. Would return when in the area again.

We were really looking for some darker beer but it seems it's just not the season for that so I had the Oktoberfest. Twice, because it went down so easy It was the perfect day for a cold beer out on the patio. Loved the hops plant out there and the serve yourself cold water. Service was a little of inside outside. Great menu! Everything looked good. We ordered the hummus/pita and the pork schnitzel sandwich. So good. Got a little train action going by too out beyond the fence The only comment is that there is not a lot of parking. All in all a great experience and if I lived in this area I would be a regular here

Their beers were absolutely delicious, each one crafted to perfection. Their hot dogs --perfectly grilled and bursting with flavor. The atmosphere was super chill, making it the perfect spot to unwind and sip on beers . Service was really good too. If you're looking for a laid-back place to enjoy great brews and tasty bites, this brewery is a must-visit! What did we get? - Love Duck, American Pale Ale 5.5% ABV - Banner of the Realms, Danish Red Lager 5% ABV - Hai Ikki, Rice Saison 5.7% ABV As for the hotdogs: - Chicago Dog - Tokyo Dog - Burnt End Dog

A group of us stopped in Liars Bench for lunch after hiking Mt Major, so we were starving! The interior is your usual warehouse-y brewery, but the outside ambiance is great. Beautiful plants and flowers surround the courtyard. I am always so impressed when I find a brewery that also has an awesome kitchen. I ordered the potato salad and falafel and WOW! The potato salad was vinegary and delicious, and the falafel is one of the best I've had. Everyone in our group raved about their meal, including the Rachel, the hoagie italiano, and the chopped cheese. If you're in Portsmouth looking for good beer and great food in a casual atmosphere, this place is it!

We stopped here after a long day of driving. We happened to show up during trivia night, so it was a bit louder than we hoped, but the folks playing trivia were abundant and having a great time. The beers we tried were very well brewed, and the food was really good. We enjoyed the fungidelphia and banh mi special. Definitely worth a visit!

Perfect place to day drink and eat good bar food. It's relaxed, casual and clean. Not a huge bar but big enough for small groups or just a seat at the bar. Beer was fantastic. My Tokyo hotdog was sublime. Big fan.

Really nice brewery with some unique beers. We enjoyed the beers and the vibe. Food was also pretty good, but we didn't have much. The location is decent, with a good outside area to hang out. Inside, the bar and kitchen share space with the tap room which can get crowded. Would definitely return.

Really nice layout with the seating outside. Hidden at the back of a parking lot you'd swear you were just venturing into someone's backyard. Good selection of beers to meet the tastes of the crowd. What sets this place apart from other craft pubs in the area is the food. The menu is fairly large and it's fantastic food! We tried the Chicago dog, Italian sausage and the Cuban sandwich.

We arrived and sat at a picnic table with an umbrella so our pup could be in the shade. We were having a great time, so excited to be there and amped to try their current taps. Just as our apps were being brought out, a gust of wind lifted the umbrella clear out of the table, spilling my wife's drink and sending the heavy metal umbrella pole directly into my face and chest HARD. My wife, the server, and I were all stunned for a moment. Wife thought I was bleeding until we realized it was rust on my face and chest from the pole. Server asked if I was okay, clearly feeling a little awkward, and with my hand to my face I said "I think so? If I'm not bleeding, I guess?, still totally stunned and feeling some pain. Face throbbing, my wife asked for an ice pack, and the server brought us one. We totally understand that it was a freak accident, and that it wasn't our server's fault. But it got awkward from there as the crew working became avoidant. The girl that sat us saw me teary eyed from the pain, holding the ice pack to my face and asked if we were okay... but that was it. The atmosphere quickly became awkward, and considering the pain I was in combined with feeling totally weird from the staff, we asked for a box to take our uneaten food to go. Server brought our check and we were a little surprised to see that we were still charged for the drinks (one of which had spilled because of the umbrella) and the food. We paid cash, still left a nice tip, and left, wanting to get out of the sun and keep an eye on the swelling. We were really disappointed in how the situation was handled by the crew. We weren't looking for our apps to be comped, but it would have been nice for a manager to come by, apologize, offer to refill my wife's beer, and maybe move us to a different table since we were no longer in the shade. The team didn't go around and check the other tables to make sure the umbrellas were safe and secure, either, which was shocking considering what had just happened. We were really looking forward to hanging out, trying a little bit of everything off the menu, buying some cans or growlers to take home... but we left with a swollen, bruised face and chest and an uneaten $90 box of food that we ended up tossing because the mood was completely ruined. We rarely leave a negative review anywhere, but I guess this is just a PSA to check your picnic table umbrella if you sit outside, and hopefully a learning opportunity for management in how to improve customer service and safety for patrons.

But Tributary was awesome and I'm feeling generous because of their great attitude and the promise of great things to come. Such a great space in the corner of a small mall, it was very polished and welcoming inside. Friendly staff, welcoming smiles, glad you're here kind of people. Everything is shiny and spotless. Love that. And bonus for being dog friendly! 4 ounce tastings are $1.50 each so you could have them all for about $6. Plus they will let you just have a small taste before you decide what you want to drink. Nice. Unlike many other craft brewers Tributary's offerings didn't have catchy names. They had a Pale Ale, Brown Porter, Wheat IPA, and a collaborative brew with Earth Eagle called a Sweet Fern Gose. If you've never tried a Gose you owe it to yourself to try this ancient German style of sour/salt almost medicinal wheat brew. This one was brewed with natural ferns that was quite something! We both loved their pale ale a lot. I'm sure there are great things ahead for Tributary. Highly recommend you stop in and try it!

While Smuttynose doesn't have a cat (that I'm aware of), we were pleasantly surprised to meet the resident good boy, a black lab named Willy! What a treat. He is so friendly and freely roams the bar and beer garden. Cute pup aside, I love their facility. The outdoor area hosts a variety of seating options, including my personal favorite: adirondack chairs. This place would be an ultimate summer hang if I lived closer! You don't even have to go inside to order a beer - just walk up to the order window. I tasted their fall offers: Oktoberfest and Pumpkin Ale. I thoroughly enjoyed both, even purchasing a variety pack to trek home with me that included both the Oktoberfest and Pumpkin Ale. Their flagshop brown ale is called Old Brown Dog, and when we visited, they had a stronger version on tap - Very Old Brown Dog. The Very Old Brown Dog is one of the better strong beers I've tasted in some time. Definitely a sipper, especially if you're driving - but boy, it was smooth and very tasty in spite of it's sub 10% abv. The tasting bar is no frills at it's core, but clean bathrooms, fun merch, and good beer are flowing. There are some snacky foods available for purchase, but their restauarant is just across the parking lot if you're seeking a substantial meal. Lots of parking, great outdoor gathering space, smaller indoor seating area - would be great for summer hangs. Lots of tasty beer and a good doggy await. Smuttynose is one of my favorite breweries I've visited in recent memory.
