Delicious beer - strange entrance! The inside of the brewery was a little cramped. I enjoyed my ipa that I tried. Service was friendly.

Friendly environment and I enjoyed their beers. Had a couple pretzels to curb our hunger and then bought some 4 packs to take with us.

Nice brewery, with few frills. Decent beers, a cool outdoor garden area that isn't being used to its potential. Pleasant vibes, but it felt like it skewed to an older crowd. A bit off the beaten path, had to search to find it. Would return, but not my first choice.

Nice micro brewery tucked in the back of an old factory. Nice selection of their own creations from the light to heavy and from standard Pilsner beer to fruity and exotic. They encourage guests to bring food in should they want to and have a nice area outside for enjoying the summer weather.

Loaded Question has a very nice venue with this taproom. It was not all too busy when I visited, but I imagine as the season goes on it is a great place to visit. The beer selection covers a wide variety of styles. I had a belgian blonde that I enjoyed, but many of their IPAs are very popular in the area and I'm sure taste even better on tap. The taproom is on the outskirts of Portsmouth, a worthy stop for any craft beer enthusiast.

Out of all of the breweries in Portsmouth, Loaded Question continues to be my favorite. Just on the outskirts of town, Loaded Question is located in an industrial facility where they have a small, quaint taproom. They also have an outdoor venue with picnic tables and heat lamps. Loaded Question consistently has a variety of brews ranging from IPAs, lagers, sours, saisons, and British brews. I tend to be more of a sour and IPA guy, and honestly, I haven't had a beer that I didn't like at Loaded Question. Their Sparkletoes IPA is my typical go-to, however, they have also been doing a kettle-sour series which I have loved. The passionfruit sour has been a favorite of mine. Definitely a brewery worth checking out when you are in the Portsmouth area!

What an interesting literal hole in the wall place. My husband and I came to check out this place earlier in the week and were pleasantly surprised to see a good amount of people also there! When you first go in you're not too sure if you're about to be in an episode of forensic files or if you're going to find a hidden gem. I'll tell you- it's an unpolished gem! It's definitely not fancy, and the beer isn't blow-your-mind great but it's 100% worth the trip. There are many options so you're bound to find something you will want to try. There's both indoor and outdoor seating. Plenty of parking. We will be back- primarily to show our friends.

On a weekend trip in Maine I was determined to visit this brewery that is not known unless you're a local. Came here on one of the hardest pouring rain day of the year and the parking lot was flooded with a few inches of water. That didn't deter me from getting in the entrance. I love the warehouse vibe as I walk down the long hall in anticipation of walking in to the tap room. The tap room was cozy and the decors are lovely. The selection isn't vast but they have varieties. I'm a big IPA fan and my partner a sour beer fanatic and this place satisfied my thirst. Thumbs up from me.

    Patio and beers!

Great beer, great BEARDS! The beer selection at Loaded Question is great, from the the orange peel incident to the west coast stoke. The staff is friendly. Especially Pete. And his beard is good. You should go.

It wasn't my preferred type of beer, but I found it tasty and refreshing. The next morning at breakfast at a restaurant in town, there were small signs on the table for their beers. So that afternoon, I went to Liar's Bench for lunch. I appreciate the messages the universe had sent me. Apart from a challenge getting parking at lunchtime, with several spots in the lot reserved for nearby Murray's Plumbing, there's much to like about Liar's Bench (and that's no lie). The beer selection is varied enough that I was able to get a very satisfying flight. My local friend had suggested I order whatever was the chef's special of the day (which today was a specialty burger), but we instead opted for the BBQ platter for 2, with a large amount of pulled pork, slaw, potato salad, and Texas toast. We sat at the bar and had great service and conversation. I can see why this is a popular lunch destination. Another bonus for me is that Liar's Bench is the closest brewery to a hotel at which I often stay when I'm in Portsmouth, making this a new destination for me when I'm in the area.

We arrived and sat at a picnic table with an umbrella so our pup could be in the shade. We were having a great time, so excited to be there and amped to try their current taps. Just as our apps were being brought out, a gust of wind lifted the umbrella clear out of the table, spilling my wife's drink and sending the heavy metal umbrella pole directly into my face and chest HARD. My wife, the server, and I were all stunned for a moment. Wife thought I was bleeding until we realized it was rust on my face and chest from the pole. Server asked if I was okay, clearly feeling a little awkward, and with my hand to my face I said "I think so? If I'm not bleeding, I guess?, still totally stunned and feeling some pain. Face throbbing, my wife asked for an ice pack, and the server brought us one. We totally understand that it was a freak accident, and that it wasn't our server's fault. But it got awkward from there as the crew working became avoidant. The girl that sat us saw me teary eyed from the pain, holding the ice pack to my face and asked if we were okay... but that was it. The atmosphere quickly became awkward, and considering the pain I was in combined with feeling totally weird from the staff, we asked for a box to take our uneaten food to go. Server brought our check and we were a little surprised to see that we were still charged for the drinks (one of which had spilled because of the umbrella) and the food. We paid cash, still left a nice tip, and left, wanting to get out of the sun and keep an eye on the swelling. We were really disappointed in how the situation was handled by the crew. We weren't looking for our apps to be comped, but it would have been nice for a manager to come by, apologize, offer to refill my wife's beer, and maybe move us to a different table since we were no longer in the shade. The team didn't go around and check the other tables to make sure the umbrellas were safe and secure, either, which was shocking considering what had just happened. We were really looking forward to hanging out, trying a little bit of everything off the menu, buying some cans or growlers to take home... but we left with a swollen, bruised face and chest and an uneaten $90 box of food that we ended up tossing because the mood was completely ruined. We rarely leave a negative review anywhere, but I guess this is just a PSA to check your picnic table umbrella if you sit outside, and hopefully a learning opportunity for management in how to improve customer service and safety for patrons.

While Smuttynose doesn't have a cat (that I'm aware of), we were pleasantly surprised to meet the resident good boy, a black lab named Willy! What a treat. He is so friendly and freely roams the bar and beer garden. Cute pup aside, I love their facility. The outdoor area hosts a variety of seating options, including my personal favorite: adirondack chairs. This place would be an ultimate summer hang if I lived closer! You don't even have to go inside to order a beer - just walk up to the order window. I tasted their fall offers: Oktoberfest and Pumpkin Ale. I thoroughly enjoyed both, even purchasing a variety pack to trek home with me that included both the Oktoberfest and Pumpkin Ale. Their flagshop brown ale is called Old Brown Dog, and when we visited, they had a stronger version on tap - Very Old Brown Dog. The Very Old Brown Dog is one of the better strong beers I've tasted in some time. Definitely a sipper, especially if you're driving - but boy, it was smooth and very tasty in spite of it's sub 10% abv. The tasting bar is no frills at it's core, but clean bathrooms, fun merch, and good beer are flowing. There are some snacky foods available for purchase, but their restauarant is just across the parking lot if you're seeking a substantial meal. Lots of parking, great outdoor gathering space, smaller indoor seating area - would be great for summer hangs. Lots of tasty beer and a good doggy await. Smuttynose is one of my favorite breweries I've visited in recent memory.
