Pretzel + Frubulous

Wow, I love the beer here! They have a great selection available on tap (if they have the Frubulous Pour and you like Milk Sugar beers, you MUST get it!). Plus, they partner with a pizza shop next door that will deliver to your table at the brewery, so you can really make a trip of it! They have several tables outside with umbrellas and a few tables inside, too, so there is space for everyone regardless of weather. And they are conveniently located down the street from a few other restaurants and shops, so you can make the experience what you want. The parking lot here is big and free, which is nice, and truly the beers are more than enough to make this a sole destination place to stop, but they also offer a few small snacks on-site, too, to give you balance without having to go anywhere else (pretzels, trail mix, etc.). Definitely worth planning for next time you're in the area!!

On a weekend getaway with my wife. Wanted to get some beer from this brewery. They did a collaboration brew with LLB that was fantastic. I surly wasn't disappointed. Wish I could have bought more. Wallet & liver made the right choice. I'll certainly pick up more in the future.

Deciduous Brewing Company is a newcomer to the NH craft beer scene, but a very exciting one at that. They've been selling their beers around scenic Newmarket NH since early July this year and their tap room opened a few weeks ago to the public. My wife and I swung by the place on our way up from Boston to Wolfeboro and it was a very worthwhile pitstop. There's plenty of parking there and the town of Newmarket is pretty neat. The folks there are very friendly and their space which is located in a strip mall is absolutely stunning. There's a lot of wooden accents and a beautiful logo of theirs on top of a fireplace. The bar wasn't completely finished yet but we could see some of the barrels in the brewhouse from across the room, via a large window. It felt inviting and warm and we immediately each got a flight of four of their beers to try. Each beer was very unique and tasty. Their berliner weisse was made interesting with the addition of blood orange and lychee. Their porter was nice and creamy, with a hint of smokiness. Very unique and definitely stands out. Chatting with them I found out that they'll soon be filling a giant oak foedder with some beers which should make their craft beer even more interesting. I definitely will be keeping an eye out for what is next and look forward to returning.

Best beer in NH. Great decor in the tasting room. I just wish the window into the brewery showed more of the operation.

While they make a number of different varieties (like most breweries), their best ones - and the ones they focus on the most - are their IPAs.

Very family friendly- my daughter brings her kids here to see the farm animals. My sister enjoyed Lox Toast. I had the Korean BBQ Wings, as did one of my friends on the recommendation of Erica, our server. Delicious! Of course, we had some of their delicious brews. My sister did some samples and loved them all-Big Galoot Grapefruit, Rule the Roost, Ninja of the North & Hank's Pale Ale. I had a Cheek Squeezer which was very puckery and a Vanilla Stout #3 which was yummy. We had excellent service and were not rushed at all. Recommended without hesitation.

On weekends they open earlier so we popped in for some beers and an app. Very nice outdoor and indoor space, I LOVE that they had dark beers and not just IPAs like many breweries these days, particularly in the summer. We sat at the bar (as per usual for us) and service was fast and friendly. No complaints! I wish we had gone for lunch or dinner because the food coming out looked great. We got the onion dip to help the beers go down and that was fantastic. They grow all sorts of veggies on the premesis and they source local cheese/ingredients so it's a nice concept. My only complaint is that there were several signs outside and inside saying to wait for the host to be seated and we waited a LONG time and then she said oh you can just sit at the bar. So, maybe put that on one of the signs? Usually the bar is seat yourself but when there are multiple signs as you walk up saying to speak to the host before sitting - idk I'm gonna speak to the host. I'm a rule follower. Not enough to turn me off, we will likely be back!

Definitive in Portland is an absolute favorite of my wife and I! We had our first unofficial date there, made many trips to try new beers as well as had our engagement photos taken there as well! Definitive did recently announce their closure of this location recently and my wife and I were free this weekend for their last weekend open. We made time to get down here to visit the spot as we had never checked out this location. If I was rating solely off of beers I would give five stars for the quality and taste. They have some delicious sours and make a good variety of styles. Only knock on their beers would be they have not made as many new beers over the past couple years. The downgrade from five stars into four stars comes down to the location itself. While I am understanding that due to space constraints it is more limited for space here it is overall a more disappointing space when you compare it to Portland. They do still have a patio available but the size is so small compared to Portland. The overall inside vibes are just not as nice either. This was a great spot to get all of those visiting the tourist heavy area of Kittery but I would take the Portland location everyday! Overall though it is a shame to see a brewery location closing in our great state of Maine especially a location of a brewery that is a favorite of my wife and I!

Wanted to visit this location as sadly it closes Monday. We tried several IPA's and sour beers…read more Parking was quite easy for us as traffic was really busy on the roads coming into brewery.

While Smuttynose doesn't have a cat (that I'm aware of), we were pleasantly surprised to meet the resident good boy, a black lab named Willy! What a treat. He is so friendly and freely roams the bar and beer garden. Cute pup aside, I love their facility. The outdoor area hosts a variety of seating options, including my personal favorite: adirondack chairs. This place would be an ultimate summer hang if I lived closer! You don't even have to go inside to order a beer - just walk up to the order window. I tasted their fall offers: Oktoberfest and Pumpkin Ale. I thoroughly enjoyed both, even purchasing a variety pack to trek home with me that included both the Oktoberfest and Pumpkin Ale. Their flagshop brown ale is called Old Brown Dog, and when we visited, they had a stronger version on tap - Very Old Brown Dog. The Very Old Brown Dog is one of the better strong beers I've tasted in some time. Definitely a sipper, especially if you're driving - but boy, it was smooth and very tasty in spite of it's sub 10% abv. The tasting bar is no frills at it's core, but clean bathrooms, fun merch, and good beer are flowing. There are some snacky foods available for purchase, but their restauarant is just across the parking lot if you're seeking a substantial meal. Lots of parking, great outdoor gathering space, smaller indoor seating area - would be great for summer hangs. Lots of tasty beer and a good doggy await. Smuttynose is one of my favorite breweries I've visited in recent memory.

It wasn't my preferred type of beer, but I found it tasty and refreshing. The next morning at breakfast at a restaurant in town, there were small signs on the table for their beers. So that afternoon, I went to Liar's Bench for lunch. I appreciate the messages the universe had sent me. Apart from a challenge getting parking at lunchtime, with several spots in the lot reserved for nearby Murray's Plumbing, there's much to like about Liar's Bench (and that's no lie). The beer selection is varied enough that I was able to get a very satisfying flight. My local friend had suggested I order whatever was the chef's special of the day (which today was a specialty burger), but we instead opted for the BBQ platter for 2, with a large amount of pulled pork, slaw, potato salad, and Texas toast. We sat at the bar and had great service and conversation. I can see why this is a popular lunch destination. Another bonus for me is that Liar's Bench is the closest brewery to a hotel at which I often stay when I'm in Portsmouth, making this a new destination for me when I'm in the area.

Come foe the drinks, maybe a snack, but come during the warmer months, as I'm sure the patio opens up and it's a much better scene. Wait staff could be a bit more engaging. Overall, I'd come back to try the food, it's unique to see "tubed meats" on the menu. I'm getting a lot of German influences when. it comes to the menu.
