To paraphrase "To appropriately taste a good beer you need more than a few ounces. Otherwise, you have a variety of flavors intermingling and not experiencing the beer for what it is". So key is to be immersed in your beer of choice....and yes, you can sample any beer ahead of time so you get the one you want. Truer words were never spoken. We thoroughly enjoyed our beer choices (Oblivion nitro black lager, Long Shadow bourbon barrel aged baltic porter, Apropos a saison for or from the Gods and Quintessential a noble German pilsner). You think I remembered the beer names by heart. This is a very cute little brewery with very good beer. They have lots on tap and great service. It is quite small, but they do have seating set up (with some cute picnic tables outside in the summer and even live music!). I tried and loved the blueberry beer and am looking forward to coming back to try some more. My only complaint is the water situation - we were there on a very hot day and the only available water was in a big Gatorade cooler (and it smelled a little funny when it came out into the cup). Just bring your own water bottle, and you will be fine. It's about the beer anyway, right? We can't wait to come back again soon!

The burger looked like it came directly from a frozen box and thrown on the grill. It was dry and unseasoned. It came with a packet of ketchup, mustard and relish. I was thinking they got it wrong and gave me the condiment pack for a hot dog, but when I requested mayo they told me that they don't have it. I'm very sorry that I didn't send it back because the dry burger with no flavor tasted like cardboard. I didn't want to make a scene, but instead I left feeling angry and disappointed. Definitive in Portland is an absolute favorite of my wife and I! We had our first unofficial date there, made many trips to try new beers as well as had our engagement photos taken there as well! Definitive did recently announce their closure of this location recently and my wife and I were free this weekend for their last weekend open. We made time to get down here to visit the spot as we had never checked out this location. If I was rating solely off of beers I would give five stars for the quality and taste. They have some delicious sours and make a good variety of styles. Only knock on their beers would be they have not made as many new beers over the past couple years. The downgrade from five stars into four stars comes down to the location itself. While I am understanding that due to space constraints it is more limited for space here it is overall a more disappointing space when you compare it to Portland. They do still have a patio available but the size is so small compared to Portland. The overall inside vibes are just not as nice either. This was a great spot to get all of those visiting the tourist heavy area of Kittery but I would take the Portland location everyday! Overall though it is a shame to see a brewery location closing in our great state of Maine especially a location of a brewery that is a favorite of my wife and I!
