Homemade sourdough with Ceres Bakery starter.
    Jason W.

My sister-in-law has been begging us to begin a sourdough bread journey and we were reluctant to begin. As we were strolling through Portsmouth we decided to pop into Ceres Bakery to inquire about a starter. The enthusiasm about our inquiry was amazing! We decided to search Portsmouth for a small glass container and they happily gave us a starter! We made our first loaves last weekend and the bread is incredible! Thank you Ceres Bakery for pushing us into our journey and we appreciate the quality of our starter!

Stopped at Ceres Bakery on our way from Falmouth to Portland on the recommendation of a friend. My husband got the Roasted Turkey sandwich with garlic aioli and I ordered the Kale Salad as a wrap with added Tofu. Easy and quick to-go lunch. Bakery was cute, employees were friendly, food was good, bathroom was not great...

Great pastries and coffee! The staff is very friendly as well. There are some tables to sit inside as well. I tried both the cinnamon roll and the ginger peach scone. Both delicious!

A fun Bakery/ eatery in downtown Portsmouth. Warm and inviting. Great spot for lunch or breakfast. They also provide all sorts of baked goods.

Their pastries are amazing! The cinnamon roll I got was delightful and flaky like a croissant . And the berry scone was simply perfect in sweetness. The staff are so accommodating and really nice. All around wonderful spot!

This place is very cute and adorable and you can just tell that this place is very homey and everything is homemade and fresh everyday. The people are very nice and service is very personable and friendly. There's plenty of seating and a lot of pastry options both sweet and savory. They also have hot sandwiches available, coffee and tea and their bar where you get utensils and stuff even has croutons and sunflower seeds for you to take!! I tried the quiche and cinnamon coffee cake which were both good but didn't blow my mind. You get a very large piece of the coffee cake for the price though.

The inside of Ceres Bakery is full of interesting nooks and crannies. Be sure to look around when you're inside.

I'm a mom to 4-year-old twins, and medicine has been one of the hardest parts of parenting. I've never felt good about giving them over-the-counter cold meds--too many weird ingredients I can't pronounce, and they never seem to help much anyway. But finding natural remedies that actually work? That's been a whole other struggle. Every fall, I make my annual trip to Societe to stock up on my go-to teas: Throat Ease, Get Well, Breathe, Fever Break, Be Well Immuni Tea, and Digest Ease. The first five are always in my pantry. When my kids start sniffling or coughing, I don't even think twice--I make them a warm cup of tea. It's so much easier than fighting with them to take some nasty-tasting syrup that ends up all over their shirt or spit out halfway through. These teas work fast, they taste good, and I feel better knowing I'm helping their little bodies heal naturally. Now let me talk about Digest Ease, because this one... wow. If you've been through potty training, you know the constipation phase is brutal. My daughter was in so much pain, scared to go, crying, and I felt helpless. Doctors kept recommending milk of magnesia and other stuff that just didn't feel right. I tried everything--fiber, prune juice, homeopathic drops--and nothing gave her consistent relief. Digest Ease was the only thing that helped. It's gentle, it works fast, and it gave my daughter real relief without the drama. I've told every mom friend I know about it, and they've all had the same experience. If you're a parent who's tired of chemical-filled meds and just wants something safe, natural, and effective--these teas are it. They're not just products. They're part of how I care for my kids. I'll never go another season without them.

The delightful scent of coffee was in the air and the staff were absolutely friendly as you approached the counter. Despite a buzz of patrons trickling in and ordering, the coffee was delivered to the table shortly after I sat. The staff obviously had a strong momentum going as I watched other tables being served just as quickly. Before I could even really start sipping on my piping hot Cafe Au Lait, I was served my salad and crepe. It was fun to watch how each person worked their station passionately. The lady preparing the crepes meticulously cleaned her station as she cooked. The staff on coffee were brewing away and sending cups out to diners. Other items were coming out from the back kitchen. They worked in unison like a well oiled machine. I definitely enjoyed my coffee. My salad was generous and hit the spot. The crepe was acceptable. Would I come back? Yeah, definitely my type of breakfast spot when visiting Portsmouth again. I definitely will try their croissants next time as well as check out their wine bar in the evenings!
