This place was so good, we went back a second day in a row, despite the long wait. They have lovely seating outside, very Parisian, so waiting wasn't terrible. Croissants were wonderful, especially the pain au chocolat and the chocolate almond. The egg simit was fantastic, but that smoked salmon on simit was so good, we had to get it both days. The simit is like a really great NY sesame bagel, but lighter inside, if we were going straight home, I would have bought a dozen to freeze! Also loved the lemon ricotta pastry and the cardamom bun. Great experience here. Little bakery in a nice alleyway. Ordered a bunch of pastries and breakfast sandwiches for my family and had a lovely cup of coffee at the seating in the alley. All of the pastries were great, croissants weren't overly buttery/greasy which is hard to find. Had the salmon tartine which was awesome and served on a bagel as good as any. If you've ever lived in New York or even a place such a San Diego or Los Angeles you can find a very similar Bakery experience. We were happy to visit this incredibly popular bakery during the afternoon when we were able to snag an inside table on a chilly day. The French hot chocolate was sinfully delicious...essentially a mug of hot, melted chocolate in sipping form! We would have been happy to sample so many of their pastries or lunch options, but we restrained ourselves and just shared the lemon ricotta danish. The crust was buttery goodness, with a creamy, not-too-sweet lemony center. I read from the reviews that it gets very busy so we decided to try their online ordering so we wouldn't have to wait in line. It's very small inside so with people standing in line and people waiting for the food, it felt kind of cramped. If there weren't so many people, I imagine it would feel cozy. We ordered the chocolate pistachio croissant, pistachio croissant, blood orange Danish, and a cinnamon roll. Out of the four items, the standout were the croissants which were buttery, flaky, and delicious. While making my way from Boston up to Maine, I stopped on a rainy Sunday morning at Elephantine Bakery for my morning latte and a little treat. The space inside the bakery is extremely limited, but I managed to grab a spot at one of the tiny tables. Normally, it looks like they also have outdoor seating, but not on this particular rainy day. I ordered a honey and cardamom latte with oat milk and a pistachio croissant. The service was extremely fast and friendly. All of the pastry items in the display case looked incredible and I wish I could have sampled one of each! The latte was warm and soothing - the perfect drink for a rainy day. The pistachio croissant had great flavor and was subtly sweet. If I lived in the area, I would be a frequent customer of Elephantine Bakery. Keep up the great work! read more

So I was visiting from nyc and found this small Cafe hidden in an alley way. Its located in a cute all brick alley with all of these mom and pop owned restaurants and businesses. It had the elegant bamboo outdoor seating set up with 2 tables. The entrance and main floor had like 3 tables set up for customers and what appeared to have a mirrored glass wall with what looked like an attempt at making it look vintage. Im not sure they succeeded. But the first floor where the ordering took plqce was very crowded. They offered additional seating on the second floor. The second floor had this bright red wall paper. The decor was strange. The bathroom even stranger. It was bright red wall paper with zebras. And gold accents mirrors .on the plus side They had a glass water dispenser on a silver platter on the side with glass cups for anyone waiting on an order to enjoy. The staff were attentive and nice. i had the jalapeño cheddar pretzel with an espresso and I ordered my husband a ham and bree on sourdough and a latte. I was told by the staff that my husband's sandwich would take about 15 minutes to make. He was not very impressed with the latte or his sandwich. He is a black coffee drinker if the coffee is good.My espresso and pretzel were good. They're definitely a spot to go to for some coffee a pastry or something small. I would not recommend this spot for a heavy breakfast. As the menu for food is very limited. They did have an assortment of breads and pastries. I was so excited to try Elephantine Bakery today. Cheat code was to order ahead because we got there and the line was out of the door. Great sign! We were able to see a worker bringing food out to a seated guest and we picked the order up without waiting. I ordered the cinnamon roll and the rosemary focaccia bread. Both were amazing! The cinnamon roll was light and fluffy. I'm not the biggest fan of cream cheese frosting but it wasn't bad and didn't take away from it at all. The focaccia's flavor was amazing. It was everything! The size of it big enough to cut multiple pieces and share it with my husband. If we're able to come back I'd love to sit inside or out and try more items. It was flaky, sweet, buttery, and also had a filling in it which I'm not sure what it was but was tasty. Cafe au lait was good as well. Warm, creamy and hint of coffee flavor. Egg cilbir was very good. I've never had them before but I really liked it. It's a poached eggs with yogurt/garlic mixture that you mix and use bread to dip and eat. It's like eating a bread with garlic/cream cheese and egg mixture. Service was good and quick. Overall I liked the place and everything we had was very tasty. My sister and I ordered pastries the day before, which was convenient and guaranteed our selection. We noticed there were some special weekend items, including a brown butter brownie and labor-intensive cinnamon roll. Additionally, Elephantine offers an Egyptian bread pudding, something I've never seen on a bakery menu. The instructions said to pick up from the counter. However, when my sister arrived for pick-up, no one acknowledged her at the counter for several minutes. Seeing how busy things appeared, she hopped in line and got her pastries that way. In addition to the pastries already mentioned, we tried a feta and honey danish, which is made with croissant dough. This was the crowd favorite with its sweet, salty, and buttery notes. The Egyptian bread pudding was tasty and worth trying if you like to experience something new. It too is made with croissant dough. The two specialty items--the cinnamon roll and the brown butter brownie--were the "womp womps" of the group. While the brownie was solid, I did not get any brown butter notes. Why advertise it as such if it's not prominent? As for the cinnamon roll, the cream cheese frosting is the best part. It's sweet and tangy. The roll itself is fine, and my biggest critique is that it needs more cinnamon filling. Between my overall experience and the Yelp and Google reviews, I'm surprised Elephantine gets as many five-star reviews as it does. It's a very good bakery, but it's not one I would return to or recommend to a friend. read more

There were tables outside, and although inside was rather small, they fit 5 small round tables with two chairs each. It didn't feel crowded, just cozy. I think there is a second floor in case there isn't room, but people left as others finished placing their order, so it's was very good timing... Almost like it was planned, lol. The workers were super nice too. The cashier was warm, attentive, and knowledgeable. Vibes are a 10/10. Everyone working here is prompt and sweet. Prices are similar to any other bakery on the east coast. This spot is a hidden gem in relation to the city, tucked back in an alley but DO NOT BE FOOLED. People know this is here, it is very well loved! Your favorites will sell out from the bakery and if you're looking for weekend breakfast get there at an early hour. There's only like 4 tables inside and maybe one or two outside, weather permitting.
