We loved it here so much we arrived saying a hard no to becoming club members and couldn't wait to sign up for the membership before leaving. Compared to other wine clubs we belong to, Oak Mountain Winery has at least double and better the perks. Came here for a neighbor's birthday, hadn't been here for maybe 4-5 years. Upon first getting here, we had a wine tasting; I stuck with all white wines, and my favorite was the white Cabernet. The Chardonnay and Viogner were a close second. After our tasting, we had lunch. I opted for the short rib. When my plate arrived, I did not see a bone in the meat, and it appeared to be just one solid chunk of meat. The appearance of the plate was pleasant, though. Upon cutting a piece from the short rib, it was not tender as I was expecting, and the texture did not seem to be from a short rib, but that of a lesser cut of beef, most likely chuck roast. I was overall disappointed in the texture and quality of the dish. After dinner, we visited the on-site distillery. We were a party of 7, and all got a drink, which were all $22 each. I paid the bill and did not notice they included the tip in the bill, nor was there any noticeable sign saying parties of a certain number will have the tip included. It wasn't till after I left that I noticed that they had included the tip along with me also adding an additional amount. We were once members of Oak Mountain with the previous owners. Since new ownership we were disappointed with the menu and the quality of the food and canceled our membership. We gave it a substantial amount of time to make adjustments and we returned to try it out again yesterday. Needless to say we will not be returning/joining the wine club. The charcuterie board was mediocre...very small and lacked substance. The greek salad had fresh ingredients but there was absolutely no flavor in the dressing. The poblano linguine was not as expected. The flavor was very bland. The Chilean Sea Bass itself was delicious but the sauce, edamame with sun dried tomatoes did not complement the fish. The new area in front with turf, tables and umbrellas with the tasting trailer was a nice addition. The service was good but the dining experience was disappointing. The other disappointing experience was non members were not allowed to purchase tasting tickets in the main tasting area and enjoy the experience...they are redirected to the other tasting room on the other side of the distillery. read more

I had the idea to visit a winery for a day date to celebrate my husband's birthday. Even though we are both lifelong SoCal residents, neither of us had ever been to Temecula wine country. We couldn't even cut through it with a knife. Very tough and my husband didn't even eat half of it. We were both very displeased with the service and food. It was extremely crowded, they really just put chairs and tables anywhere outside. We should have chosen to eat inside the cave instead of outside, maybe the experience would've been better. Our waiter was not attentive, we were not really checked up on. Our first waiter didn't return and when we asked for him he switched us to another waiter, thought that was odd. The food was not very enjoyable. My boyfriend and I split a bottle of wine which was great, and I ended up ordering the meatloaf and it was the best meatloaf I've ever had. First time visiting the winery specifically intended for a New Years Eve dinner. I looked up reservations on Open Table and there were two dining choices. The Cave Cafe and the Distillery. I am unfamiliar with the property however the term cafe, to me, I figured may be a deli/cafe for coffees, teas, and sandwiches. So I click on the distillery selection and was lead to seating options. Standard, high top tables, or bar seating. I selected standard as I would expect a nice celebratory dinner on a dining table. The Open Table app requires a credit card to confirm my reservation along with a cancellation policy to be charged if no show or late arrival. We show up and walked straight to the restaurant storefront, it turns out we walked to the Oak Mountain Cave Cafe and was directed the Oak Mountain Cave Distillery adjacent to the Cafe. The distillery is a small area pub with limited seating. The atmosphere was a little loud, however there were a few small groups celebrating New Years Eve. We almost ended up at the bar but I insisted we seat at a table as I requested on my reservation and ended up right by the front door (did I mentions this place is fairly small?). Aside from the newness of exploring a new place to dine and wandering through the property to learn my assumptions were so off, the staff were friendly, customers were having a fantastic time, and the food and drinks were actually good. I enjoyed the prime rib and for my spouse would consider it a little overcooked, it was perfect for me. As the winery's distillery, they served their own wine and spirits so my Jack and Coke was actually bourbon and coke and it was just as good. The theme was sort of a western style ambiance. We plan to visit the Cave Cafe at some point, now that we know it's an actual restaurant. Pretty neat place to hangout with a few friends and enjoy some of the drinks this place has to offer. read more

We came to this winery to celebrate my 40th birthday. This place was kind enough to accommodate my large party of 15 which no other winery in the area was able to do for us this weekend. The manager Wendy went above and beyond to make my day even more special by setting up the outside area to celebrate a special toast for my friends and new business venture. The whole ambiance was really lovely. Especially the view on top of the hill. Great place to get away and enjoy a day away. When sitting at the two tables combined in-between the large wine barrels was really nice. Felt like you were in a different country somewhere. The server Matt was great.
