My bf and I dined here back in February during valentines' weekend. The restaurant side was fully booked so my bf booked our dinner here instead. IT was a bit confusing to book for dinner because online it seems like menu is different and the hours are different, but, we learned that this Oak Mountain Winery is also a full restaurant just like the other one but, I love it so much more because it is actually situated inside the cave. So, you end up dining in between drums of wine! Our waiter told us that this was the concept during Covid, where they started putting in dining table in between each section of the drums of wine (not sure if I call them correctly) and that just took off so they continued it. Seen the Shrek 2 screening event on Instagram, and knew I had to come. There were tables set up on the lawn and you could set your blankets down for the screening. It was a cozy winery located deep in wine country Temecula. We brought outside food and got drinks from their speakeasy. $27 for a piña colada and $27 for a whiskey sour "swamp water" *prices subject to change*. Which I felt was excessive. The bartender had to ask someone else verbatim "I don't even know how to charge this". Movie started an hour later than advertised. But Shrek 2 is life. The location and experience are worth a visit. We came on a Saturday for lunch. I usually prefer outdoor seating but it was warm and the available tables didn't have shade. I was pleasantly surprised by the indoor dining area. We walked past the tasting/shop area which is loud, and into the barreled dining area. Such a wonderful setup! We opted for a glass of rose, whipped feta hummus, poke, shrimp tacos, and coconut crème brûlée. The wine is average (we had sampled a white at the festival too), and nothing memorable. The hummus and shrimp tacos were tasty and flavorful. The poke needed acid and salt. The crème brûlée had a good flavor but was not smooth. Service was friendly. Worth a visit! What an amazing experience dining at The Cave. So unique and fun. We had made reservations and when we showed up we were greeted warmly and seated immediately. The service from there only got better. Not only was our server very attentive but others were as well. We started with the calamari and shishito peppers. Perfectly cooked with 3 nice dipping sauces. Then to the Greek salad that more than my wife and I could share. Big chunks of feta and olives with the cucumbers and onions. So very good. I had been dying for the halibut since booking and my wife had the filet medallions. We were not disappointed! Everything on the plate was perfectly cooked and super tasty. We were full so weren't going for a dessert, though they all looked good, but they brought us a cupcake decorated to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. What a mixed experience. The winery is beautiful. You would never expect it when entering the grounds, but once you park and get to the wine tasting room and the cave, it's truly special. The ambiance is incredible. You just don't want to leave. 5/5. And then the service is really good too. Even though there are many customers and the bartenders have to run around from one to another and keep track, they still keep coming back to you. And in our case, they gave many more than our allocation for wine tasting. 5/5. Now for the bad part. Their red wines (which is what we drank) were just bad. Really bad. Their reds are the opposite of Bordeaux. Very dry and even astringent. Like an unripe persimmon. We sampled so many wines it was ridiculous, as they really wanted to sell us the membership - and truth be told, we really wanted to buy it - but the wines were just so bad. The reds tasted like $4 wines at Winco. Smokey and astringent. All of them. 1/5. They got sold recently and have a new winemaker. He used to work at the Hotel Coronado. Maybe he should have stayed there. I'm not sure what wine making qualifications he has. I've not had wines this bad at any winery I've ever been to. However, having said all this, we WILL be coming back. We want to do wine cave tours and also eat dinner at the thoroughly enchanting restaurant inside the wine cave. Just got back from a Valentine's Day dinner. Genuinely might be the worst dining experience I've ever had. Booked back in January, spoke to someone to confirm it's in the nice cave restaurant, only to show up and be seated at a wedding reception room with a fold out table and chairs?? Quite literally not even at the restaurant we booked. Was served our drinks in a plastic cup. Not even joking when I say our water was given to us in a small clear plastic cup that would be out at a cocktail hour for weddings. Waiter never once stopped back at our table in the two hours we were there. People were going up to the bar to get a water refilled. The food was also terrible. Ordered a medium rare steak and was served a well done piece of leather. Came with lobster that was actual rubber. Wife and I took maybe 5 bites each before just being done. The couple next to us had given up after waiting 2 hours for their entree. Asked for it to just be given to go. Honestly could not be more disappointed in this place. A $400 Valentine's Day dinner and the atmosphere, service, and food were all a 1/10. read more

Unfortunately, my last two wine bottle pickup experiences were met with rude and dismissive behavior, which prompted me to reach out to customer service. When I contacted them to share feedback and asked whether they gather reasons from customers who cancel, my question went unanswered. While I did receive a call back, the recommendation was simply to "try other wineries," which felt dismissive rather than constructive. Went recently for the first time for lunch. We made a reservation but they had plenty of space and were seated immediately. They are dog friendly and brought water bowls for our dog. Our server was amazing with providing quick service but also offering suggestions of other wines to try based on our preferences. We ordered a charcuterie board and sandwiches which were tasty but pricey as usual. After lunch I went inside to check it out and decided to possibly buy a bottle of wine. However, there was only one person working the bar and when I asked another employee if I could buy a bottle he said I would have to purchase from that bartender. I ended up leaving as I didn't want to wait 15 min just to buy a bottle as there were about 10 people hanging out waiting to order. read more

Let me say that the speak easy is a lot more friendly and welcoming than the Cave. We were waiting at the Cave for around 20 minutes. We were ignored and a different set of visitors were seated before us. They literally bypassed us at the Cave and asked the people next to us (almost behind us) for service. This had upset me. But once they did attend to us, I was elated that they said I was at the wrong place and I we needed to walk over about 5 feet to the Speakeasy. And thank God because the Speakeasy and the staff were beyond amazing. There was outside seating which it was nice to hear the music. It's lively at this place. Pretty scenes all around. The food and drinks at the speakeasy were great. We will be back. And I'll purposely try the Cave. A pretty good amount of parking but I bet on Saturdays there may be no parking. I can not say enough horrid things about our experience here for Easter. Do not come. Do not bring ur kids. They are inadequately staffed and the "hunt" was a blood bath. They threw a few eggs for a ton of kids and the older ones trampled the littles. NEVER AGAIN read more

Don't come here with a bus or limo. Poor design for accommodating bigger vehicles. Also owner and employees kick out the bus that are bringing in people. I guess they think a car or suv is more important with 2-8 people than 30-60 people. read more

Just visited this amazing cave winery for the first time yesterday with my wife , and it did not disappoint! The location is stunning, but what truly made our experience special was our wine server, Makenna. She was professional, attentive, and made us feel right at home one of the many reasons we'll be returning soon and being members soon.
