This place is located inside the Fairmont hotel. The hotel is gorgeous. We decided to come here for brunch. I got lobster roll and a cup of clam chowder. The clam chowder had no taste and flavor. It was not creamy and too starchy because of the potatoes. I don't think the potatoes were cooked correctly either. Some of them were still hard. However, the lobster roll was delicious. The lobster meat was sweet and I loved the frisée salad on top. My partner got corned beef hash as a side and grapefruit brûlée. The brûlée was interesting. Not my thing. The corned beef hash were somewhat to wet and not flavorful. The service was good. Overall, probably come back here for drinks and enjoy the view. read more

I dined here for Dine out Boston 2024.The restaurant is located on the first floor of the Fairmont Copley Plaza hotel. It has beautiful décor and feels like you're sitting in a lounge. I was really excited after all the dishes that I saw on their Instagram page, but unfortunately I came out a little underwhelmed. I ordered artisanal greens & watercress salad as well as the roasted chicken breast. I feel like the chicken was missing some flavor. We also ordered a side of bread and I would say their bread was amazing! I wish I had that for breakfast every morning. The service was outstanding, but I don't think that this would be a place that I would come back to. I'm glad I was able to try this place for Dine Out Boston. read more

Since we were staying at the Plaza over the long weekend, we decided to have dinner here one night. Walk ins are welcome but a reservation is better to guarantee a seat. Very cool vibe. Excellent and fast service and the food was good. We ordered their hard bread with honey butter as an appetizer and it was a real mouth teacher. The pizza + dessert were outstanding too! Great experience! We returned again for breakfast the day of checking out and it was SO GOOD! I ordered their classic eggs Benedict with avocado on the sides, hubby got the classic bacon, eggs and hash browns. Had a lovely evening here recently - the warmth (literally and figuratively) was welcome as there were gale winds and rain outside. Sat near the bar. Which was mobbed and noisy, but that was fine. Great people-watching. We started with the clam chowder and the fresh baked bread - both delicious ( as was the honey butter that came with it); after enjoying our appetizers, we ordered the half lobster and the lobster roll and the cauliflower. The lobster roll had too much claw meat, which was not tasty, but everything else was very good. Loved the cauliflower. We e joyed the fact that we were able to sit and relax and not get pushed to leave. Friendly staff, too, although the waiter (an older gentleman) clearly became more friendly after we ordered the lobster, etc. Overall we had a very good evening here. read more

I've had very mixed experiences here. It's very convenient to stop by when staying at the Fairmont, which by the way is a great hotel. As a 1 we went for breakfast and we served coffee, but then waited for a very long time for the waitress to come back. Once she did, she explained that she was several tables behind and taking orders, and the kitchen was behind also. We were on a tight schedule and decided to leave. We mentioned it to the host at the front as we left, and he just shrugged his shoulders. I really can't blame the waitress, we saw her running around and working hard. This is a management problem. As a 5 we stopped in a couple of times for cocktails in the afternoon and the evenings the bartenders provide outstanding service, make great drinks and are super friendly. The drinks aren't cheap, but it was a great experience in all cases and they look like works of art. We didn't have any food this last time around but a couple of years ago. We had some of the appetizers and they were very good. I think this is the most Jekyll and Hyde experience I've had at a restaurant. Hope they can address these issues. I had stayed at the Fairmont Copley Square many years ago, but I hadn't eaten at OAK in the past. On my recent visit, I had a chance to stop by for lunch. The decor is very much in line with the rest of the Fairmont, so expect a throwback to more elegant times, but the restaurant is such that it is not stuffy by any stretch; the crowd for lunch was not dressed to impress by any stretch. Getting seated was straightforward, and the service here was very prompt when it came to serving drinks and food. While the food items (at least at lunchtime) are fairly casual and straight down the fairway, the drink selection is nicely varied, with a good variety of local craft beers, cocktails, and other libations available. Overall, the food met expectations; I wasn't expecting the best ever, but for a fairly casual meal, it hit all the marks. The holiday-inspired sour I had was enjoyable and not too heavy, and my clam chowder starter was nice and refined - a good amount of clams and not too many bacon bits (which some places can do and turns it into a bacon chowder). For my main, I did the house burger, which was solid all around, although I did find the beef patty itself to be more on the generic side. The red onion jam on the bottom bun was a good idea, though, and helped add some more character. The fries were also very good - perfectly crisped and not too salty. In all, OAK is a solid choice all around. You're not going to get creative cuisine, but you'll get a good-sized meal prepared well at a decent price. I'd definitely like to come back and try out more of their drinks as well! read more

We stopped by for Father's Day dinner, started with the hamachi ceviche, which was ok - more avocado than hamachi which was unexpected. The lobster rolls, however, took the cake! Some of the best in the city, perfectly buttered and toasted bread, fresh lobster, and not to mention well seasoned as opposed to just butter and salt. These lobsters were definitely loved. VERY noisy because of the millennials and their mating rituals. Food was... okay. The beef tartare was 8/0; points off for strings of beef tendon encountered but the spice and taste were superb. The duck breast was disappointing; a LONG time coming out of the kitchen; our waiter was frustrated, apologizing to us more than once. But that duck breast, with its muscular pectorals, had obviously just arrived from migration from Northern Quebec. No amount of braising could have tenderized that lump of overdeveloped muscle. My wife's entree, the pea pappardelle was excellent and could have fed the Russian army. The champagne- Veuve Clicquot, was $37 a glass. It was our anniversary. Why four stars then? Our waiter- he was wonderful: attentive, tireless, accommodating. No question the change from the quiet stodgy old Oak Room of a few years ago to this loud scene of posturing youth was a good business move, but this is no longer an elegant evening for those of us over sixty. read more

Gorgeous place. I've always loved the old world, elegant charm that simply doesn't exist anywhere else. The ornate carvings and detailed ceilings reminiscent of the glorious Golden Hind can only be found in two of my regular coastal home bases, the Biltmore in LA, and the Fairmont Copley. Outstanding decor. The food is quite excellent, with probably 80% of the menu that is absolutely 5-Star (the bluefish toast, for example), with the rest that maybe try too hard. But very worthy. The cocktails are exquisite, especially if you like your whiskies and bourbons. It's classic old world charm with just enough creative liberties to keep it current with today's palate. Where the Oak Room falls short is service and general ambiance. Don't get me wrong, the service is courteous, but painfully boring, and feels like I'm in a library foyer. It's sleepy. If you've been to the Harvard Club in the Back Bay, this is maybe a notch below in excitement, but thankful without the snootiness. The bar service is on point. But the rest of the lounge/restaurant feels..... geriatric. My server, probably in his 40s, forgot specific orders and instructions twice, and had the energy of a Valium addict. Because of this, the crowd seems just as sleepy, unexciting, and probably enjoys birdwatching. I'm always bored here, which is why I don't come here that often, even though I live only 3 blocks away. However, if you're with professional company, especially financial planners, insurance actuarials, or estate lawyers, then this is your place. You can get stuff done here (which, coincidentally, is why we are here today). I do like the place, and with all the hip places sprouting up all over the place, I suppose it's nice to have one old school place that's available to the public. It's classic. read more

Having stayed at the Fairmont hotel multiple times, I have gone to OAK bar almost every time I visit Boston. Both the quality of the food and the menu used to be much better. They eliminated favorites like stuffed French toast, and others. I ordered the flat iron steak and eggs (a new addition to the menu). While the food /would/ have been delicious, the steak was warm-to-cold, as if the steak was cooked first before the eggs and then left out to cool. For the price and quality, I don't expect cold steak. Additionally, the meal took quite a while to make (around 45 minutes since ordering), and our waiter struggled to look up to check on our needs although he did comp the coffees (which are consistently good). I would like to keep coming back for brunch, but there are better options for the price, unfortunately. read more

My husband ordered the lobster roll with roasted lemon and parsley aioli . It was served with nice fries. He said he would have wanted the lobster roll served warmed. He had his lobster roll with a nice refreshing Samuel Adams IPA. I don't usually like beer , specially a IPA but this one was nice mild flavor and refreshing. When I first got my order. I thought the waiter gave me someone else's order because I ordered the Smoky bird. The description was smoke and grilled chicken thighs with crispy bacon, with mama's lil peppers, saffron mayo, bibb lettuce , tomato served in ciabatta roll. I guess I was expecting my chicken to be grilled but it wasn't. It was baked. I did checked with our waiter and he confirmed that I got the right order and yes, the chicken is baked and not fried. My sandwich tasted good. I would say they have the best clam chowder !! It has a nice smoky taste to it. This place will be my go to when it comes to clam chowder. read more

I came here for brunch with some friends on a Sunday while I was in town. We showed up without a reservation and were seated without any issues. The server was great and the food was good. We shared the donut among the 3 of us - the flavor was hazelnut and it was indeed very hazelnutty, but delicious. I then ordered the crab and avocado toast and added a poached egg - it was quite good, with a nice kick from the pickled jalapeños. I didn't really taste the burrata though, I wish there was more of that. The Bloody Mary was decent, but I preferred the mimosa. I'm not one to leave reviews but this time I simply couldn't not report back on what a great time we had at OAK Long Bar + Kitchen. I was here with my parents during marathon weekend (on Saturday), and while the food and drinks were top notch (we highly recommend the shishito peppers and shrimp cocktail), and the atmosphere was great, the true star of the show was our service. Rudy was one of the most attentive and knowledgeable servers we've ever had. We struck up a long conversation about how best to open different bottles of wine after my dad noticed how effortlessly and professionally Rudy uncorked our Sancerre. Rudy had a wealth of knowledge to share with us about the best way to serve different wines and even convinced us to pair a pinot noir with our halibut entrees (I'm personally not that into red wine, but this combination was awesome and we enjoyed every last drop). Overall, we were blown away by the time Rudy spent on us and on ensuring that our experience here was amazing. With the race coming up, this weekend has been a bit stressful, but our dinner at OAK Long Bar + Kitchen was quite the opposite. Thank you to the staff and to Rudy especially! Attended a corporate dinner here. I selected Peppercorn Crusted Short Rib of Beef. This piece of meat had to be one of the most well cooked and tender meat I've had. The meat falls off just by poking at it! It also comes with peaches and never have I thought that it would be such a great combination. I was so looking forward to having brunch with my sister here. The food was delicious and the service appalling. We made a 12:30 reservation and then tried to move out to 1pm. We were told there was no opening but come and they would fit us in. When we got there, the bar was maybe half full and there were four tables occupied. In a nearly empty restaurant, we were seated next to a very noisy table. Ten minutes after being seated the waiter came and we ordered champagne. We asked if we could move to the four top and sit next to each other. The waiter said he'd ask but never did. Eventually we slid our table to the left. Shortly afterwards, the hostess put a "Reserved" sign on the four top next to us. Ten more minutes went by. Two more groups came in. The waiter came to take our order. I asked if he was going to bring our drinks and he replied, "Oh, you want them now?" Upon his return, we ordered a brûlée grapefruit, banana pancakes and avocado crab toast. The grapefruit was brought with a soup spoon. We asked for a grapefruit spoon and we told there were none. We were brought a steak knife and asked if we wanted a smaller spoon. Seconds later our other dishes arrived but we still didn't have napkins or utensils. With no waiter in sight, I went to the bar to ask for setups. The food was delicious, when we got to eat it, although they should take grapefruit off the menu without the proper spoons. The noisy table, who were done when we arrived, was finally brought their check and left. The table on the other side remained empty. Some basic training is needed here. read more

Awesome brunch spot! Swung through this weekend on recommendation from a friend and was not in the least bit disappointed. Confession time: I am not a breakfast sweets person. Pancakes, waffles, french toast, donuts all leave me completely cold. Give me something cheesy with an runny egg yolk any day. But my friend would not quit raving about their monkey bread, so I conceded. It is 100% as good as advertised. Soft, fluffy pull-apart monkey bread topped with a syrup that was light enough to be sweet, but not cloying. DO NOT MISS. I am, however, a sucker for a croque madame, so obviously that was going to happen (although I was seriously conflicted about passing up the crab and avocado toast - next time!). I was particularly intrigued by the fact that their version included shredded pork shoulder as well as the traditional ham. To be honest, it was decent, but I've had better. Served open-faced on thick challa-like toast, there was too much bread and salty meat without enough moisture from the bechamel to really balance the dish out. The result was a bit too overly dry and salty for my taste. The dish is served with fries as a side, which did not help matters. I'd recommend a green side salad instead for acid and lightness. Overall though, this was a great spot and I am looking forward to coming back to sample more off their menu. The ambiance is fantastic. I thought it was going to be chicken with some cooked vegetables and a side of bread. but it ended up being just a chicken sandwich. Not only that the sandwich was VERY mediocre. I was very disappointed, maybe it was miscommunication? But if so I wish our waitress clarified. Another issue was they've shortened their menu. I wanted to try their half lobster and that's what led me to their restaurant. However once I got there I received a menu that was about only 20 items. Which brought more dissatisfaction. ON THE BRIGHT SIDE!!! Their honey bread appetizer bread is amazing ! Some restaurants like to serve bread for free as appetizers this was not the case here but I understand why ! I love the ambiance of this place. It's upscale and classy, but you don't have to be wearing a suit and tie to eat here. It's a great place to come for a drink with friends. They have a very extensive menu of beer and wine, plus craft cocktails. On a nice day, you can sit out in their (small) patio area, right across from Copley Square. They have a small selection of food, but what I had was pretty good. I don't think I'd want to come back here every day, but maybe if a small group of friends wanted to grab a drink and feel fancy. read more

This review is only for the Dollar Oyster Happy Hour. My friend and I came in for the HH on the patio (from 4PM to 5PM). First of all, no one was out front when we were there around 3.50PM, and we had to go inside to see if there was anybody who could help us. When someone brought us outside, he gave us the menu and had us wait over 15 minutes when we already knew what we wanted, and we had to go back inside to "catch" him. After our orders were placed, the dozen of oysters we ordered took 30 minutes to come. That's the longest I've waited for any Oyster HH! As for the oysters, they were fine and fresh. Also, our server never came back to check up on us or refilled our water, and we had to flag him down again for a check. The patio and general environment is really nice, but service definitely needs improvements. read more

Overall the meal was fine, price point is expensive but again we didn't realize what we were walking into we were just hungry and looking to explore somewhere new. Came with a group of friends to do a cocktail bar crawl....we combined words. Use your imagination. I had something very smokey that I wish was called the smoke show but was definitely not. It was the priciest thing on the menu but I think it was worth it for the top shelf liquors that were in it as well as the show (they used a torch to smoke the glass up). Service was quick and actually put on that show, which I did not expect and could imagine them getting tired of doing it but they didn't let on. read more
