This is one of my fav go to spots in Back bay area of Boston. I take friends and family here for drinks and food. Everyone loves it. OAK Long Bar and Kitchen is in the beautiful Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel. The details of the bar/ lounge area are beautiful. High ceilings and comfortable seating. The bar itself is beautiful. The drinks are always made with care and they are sure tasty. I usually get the Bee's Knees which comes in a teddy bear shaped glass and a little honey comb stick. It's a must try! It is made of Malfy gin, lemon, Grapefruit and honey. The Warm Hearth Baked Bread is scrumptious. It comes with honey butter. If you never had honey butter before you will want to have it here! The food and drinks are wonderful but so is the staff that work here. For example, When I came here with a friend in 2019 or 2018 the night after I completed the Boston Marathon I got a burger which was very juicy and tasty. On the bill our waitress wrote a little special note saying Great job marathoner or something along those lines. It was that small touch that really made me like this place even more. read more

This is a solid place for lunch if you want beautiful decor but slightly overpriced food. The inside is stunning with a mix of plush chairs, couches, and bar seating. Most people who stop by for weekday lunch are staying at the hotel or working nearby in Back Bay. I like coming here for lunch because the Business Lunch combo is pretty unique. The portions are small (4oz chicken or cod, or eggplant piccata), but again, if you really are coming here for business, you probably don't want a giant meal. I've gotten the clam chowder on two occasions which was tasty. Service is also good, but the servers don't come around too frequently. The restaurant really lets you take your time, so you might consider elsewhere if you're considering a casual lunch. Separately, I've been here for cocktails in the evening, and the place is pretty lively. Expect (again) a lot of people who work in Back Bay for business. Our goal was to go out and try a new breakfast place each day during our stay but after our first visit here I didn't want to go anywhere else. If I could eat this breakfast/brunch everyday I would. Hotel bars and such can be hit or miss. It might be the best spot in the city--a huge flex for weary guests not trying to venture too far from the hotel OR you get the spots that are doing the bare minimum in all regards because they know you don't have any other options nearby. OAK is the former. A huge, vaulted ceiling and a back bar to die for welcome you along with friendly service from the team. The menu is concise--New England staples and that's it. I was there for lunch and while the Pick 2 lunch menu is cool, the options didn't speak to me. The bread service is amazing! That honey butter and huge fluffy dough overflowing the skillet have my heart from now on. No other notes, really. This spot is great for a midday business lunch or a bite before heading out for a day in the city. read more

Well, I've got to give OAK this: they know how to make a medium temperature burger. It was great. Most of the time I laugh when servers ask me how I want my burger cooked, because no matter what I say, it always comes out well done or close to it. Almost everywhere. So when the server asked I was thinking the same thing. Much to my (pleasant) surprise, it came out exactly as discussed! Really good, and great French fries with it. I've been coming to this place for close to over 5 years and I can say that it has the perfect menu, service, and atmosphere for a nice evening out. Given my experience with this place, this review is long overdue. The seating ranges from separate tables around the walls and a great bar area smack dab in the middle. The food and drinks are on point, an if you're looking for a solid dining experience in an upscale setting, this is your place! Pictured below you'll find my order of the SEARED FAROE ISLAND SALMON which includes sunchoke, turnip, maple cabbage purée, salmon bacon, beet greens, pastrami spice (pictured below). In terms of drinks, I recommend the cocktails as well any recommendations from the bartenders. At times, if you're really craving something, you can ask these experienced artisans, and they've been able to make it on the spot despite it not being on the menu! I'm giving this place four stars because it is difficult to find a table or bar seating many times, but you really can't fault OAK Long Bar + Kitchen for being so popular! The ambiance and setting of this place really sets the tone given that it's in the Fairmont Copley Plaza, a historic and beautiful luxury hotel in Boston (I've included a couple of pictures for reference). I absolutely loved my experience here. I sat at the bar around noon on a Friday. I ordered their signature cosmopolitan and it was one of the best I've ever had. It was tart but incredibly smooth. The clam chowder is also out of this world. It tastes more like a potato soup than a typical clam chowder but it packs so much flavor. I'd definitely recommend checking it out. read more

I debated giving a 3 or a 4. It's always crowded and hard to get a seat at the bar. If you do, the service is decent but if you don't things move way too slow. Almost so slow it's worth deducting two stars. On top of that the hostesses are always unfriendly. I know they have a ton of business but their attitude is that they don't need anyone else so good luck to you. Their late night menu is painfully small just burgers and fries. Would it be so hard to have a dessert so I could stop in for a treat and a night cap. I did get the burger and fries and it was good. Decently big burger with good sauce. I always enjoy the cocktails there. Bottom line, if you can get a seat at the bar, it's a great place for a late night drink, otherwise the service can be slow and less than friendly. If you're looking for some of the most unique craft cocktails in the Back Bay, you have to visit Oak Long Bar + Kitchen. It is upscale, so I highly recommend dressing accordingly and leaving the kids at home. The Oak Long Bar + Kitchen is located inside of the Five-Star, Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel. The property is very upscale and offers stunning, historic design and architecture. You'll be amazed by the historic, gold-flake ceilings and marble throughout. We decided to stop in for lunch while heading to the Copley Square farmers market. Unfortunately, we were unaware that the market was temporarily moved to a new location. I was hungry and figured we'd enjoy the day and grab some lunch/early dinner. We stopped in while the lunch menu was still available. We were seated right away near the long bar and the fire place. The ceilings and architecture of the historic room is incredible. They were reasonably busy for lunch and the bar filled up quickly. This is certainly the place to come to close a deal or discuss business over craft-cocktails. They offer an incredible cocktail program and that is where they truly shine. We started with the "Pie in the Sky". It is made with Tito's, Falernum, Passionfruit, Lime, and Agave. The cocktail program offers expertly-mixed, smooth, and incredibly unique craft-cocktails. They also offer a solid selection of craft and local beers and they do offer a solid fine wine selection. If you aren't big on alcohol, they do offer unique and creative "mocktails". If you're looking for a delicious lunch, they have you covered. They offer a small, but solid selection of appetizers, soup, salad, pizza, and entrées. My only complaint is I do wish they offered a larger selection of options. I also wish they offered more seafood options and an upscale raw bar. We started with the "Blue Hill Mussels". They were prepared in a plum tomato sauce with 'nduja, sweet chilies, and adorned with potato straws. They were hands-down some of the best mussels I have ever had. They were incredibly large, probably the largest I've ever had. They were cooked perfectly and they were incredibly flavorful. The sauce was bursting with flavor and a slight kick of heat! The fresh grilled bread on-top was PERFECT for dipping and soaking up the delicious sauce. For my main course, I decided to get their Burger. I've had it before and it is the most flavorful and juicy burger in Boston. It comes with smoked bacon, bibb lettuce, red onion jam, sharp Vermont cheese, and aioli. I am not sure what the secret is, but it is bursting with flavor and juice. The flavors all come together and just hit right! It comes out piping hot and the fries are the perfect pairing. They cook the burger perfectly to your liking. The service is Five-Star level. Our waitress was phenomenal and ensured any questions we had were answered. She made some great recommendations and ensured all our needs were met. I'd highly recommend Oak + Long Bar to tourists, hotel guests, and locals alike. The food and craft-cocktails are phenomenal. We had reservations across the street for Christmas Day and when we arrived about 10 mins late it was too late to be seated. Therefore, we walked across the street to OAK long Bar and it was amazing! The host was not the friendliest, but everything after that was fantastic. We ordered the tomahawk ribeye, the bread with honey, and a pizza. That bread was to die for. The waiter told us they use the same dough from the pizza for the bread appetizer. Went here with a friend for breakfast on a Saturday. Seated right away at a lovely seat. Our waiter John, came right by with coffee and it was perfectly hot. Service was very prompt and polite. My friend ordered the King Crab and Avocado toast and hash browns. I ordered the banana pancakes. Holy cow and all the is holy -- servings were huge and the food delicious. The only minor issue is the food took a bit of time but not enough to take away from great service and the quality of the food. A wonderful place to go to eat. Very nicely done. read more

I will give them props for being a classy and upscale place to grab a drink. If the rowdy party-bar isn't your scene, OAK offers well needed respite. I also want to give them props for the idea of having non-alcoholic options which are a little more exciting than straight soft-drinks, but not great if I am being honest. For alcoholic options, the 1934 Cosmopolitan had a very nice combination of flavors! There was citrus, a little tartness, some sweetness, and a great and non-intimidating amount of booziness. If I had only had an adult beverage (or maybe two), my rating would be higher, but I consider the whole experience, and the rest of it was disappointing. For non-alcoholic options, I was able to try both the Grapefruit Mojito and the Super Fresh. These were a mixed bag for me, namely because of the sweetness and cost. For example: the Super Fresh had a nice level of tartness from the white cranberry and lemon, and the soda water made it refreshing. However, it remained very saccharine, and furthermore, $8 for some cranberry juice, carbonated water, and a squirt of lemon seems excessive. I echo the same sentiments with the Grapefruit Mojito - a nice combination of flavors, but over sweet and overpriced. My experience when it came to food was subpar. The Hamachi Ceviche was alright. The flavors of the fish were very mild, which by itself is fine, but there wasn't enough seasoning, sauce, or other to elevate this dish further. Ignoring the chips, I would like to note that the portion was very small. The Shishito peppers brought nothing to the table or the palate. They were roasted to the point where all you could taste was the texture and potentally the dressing if you dipped the pepper into it. Not other flavors or spice made an appearance. A squeeze of lemon over the pepper did not make an impact either. To add insult to injury, this dish cost $15. Hamachi costing $17 I might be able to understand, sushi-grade fish is expensive, but for $15 for some flavorless peppers is not acceptable. read more

This is a typical overpriced bar that is too loud and has a business plan built around location for traffic, not quality service. They don't seem to car about service. The bartender (white, thin light brown hair, 5 11ish) was unnecessarily rude to me. Here's the transcript of our 2 problematic interactions. 1. -Bartender: Here's the menu. I look at the menu. - My partner to me: should we get fries? - Bartender: there's no food. I lift my head from the menu. - Me: oh the kitchen's closed? -Bartender (mockingly): yeah... that's why there's no food. 2. I order a whisky sour. Bartender walks away and comes back in a minute. - Bartender: last call. - Me: just the whisky sour please. - Bartender: yeah, last call besides the drink that you just ordered a few seconds ago. (Again mocking me as if I'm stupid) Bartender walks away. Me and my partner look at each other in disbelief. I really did not know this person from before, and did not have any negative interactions that could have caused his condescending and rude behavior. The bartender was nice and warm to other customers so I don't know what to think about the root cause of his passive aggressive behavior towards me. Ate here since the hotel stay included credit for this restaurant. Was pleasantly surprised with how good the food turned out especially considering it's just part of the hotel. What wasn't impressive was the service from the hostess. When we first walked in she completely ignored us and didn't help us get seated or give any greeting just stared. After a while of confused looks is when she told us it'd be a minute and essentially "shooed" us over to the side even when there was nobody around. First off the Manage of the restaurant, a lady on September 24th, was not only friendly but extremely customer service driven! We had to wait for our table and asked if there was coffee while we waited. There wasn't, but offered to order some for us while we waited! What a plus!!!! We need more people like her in service!!! Once we were seated we were quickly waited on. My niece order the American Dream with bacon, I had the petit-dejeuner. Both were huge plates of food. I wasn't expecting that especially from a higher end hotel. The American Dream-the eggs were fluffy, the hash brown was perfect, so on the inside and so crunchy on the outside. The Petit-Dejeuner-The muesli tasted like apple crisp, which was so yummy and perfect for a cool Fall day in Boston, I could have eaten a second cup of that heaven!
