When we were looking for a Hotel for our 1 day stay in Boston(the middle part of our crazy trip), I found that the best location for a fun night was the Back Bay neighborhood. There was top restaurants, classy bars of many types, and it was all walkable. From checking the internet a bit, it seemed the Fairmont Copley Plaza hotel was a premium stay and it was right in the middle of the Back Bay things. And it had a top of the line bar from what I could see, in the Oak Long Bar. I made a late evening reservation, but we also had time before we started our afternoon escapades so we walked in to see if we could get a spot. It's a called a Long bar for a reason. there were a ton of seats, but actually most were taken. We actually got a 2 person chair at the end of the bar(A romantic touch I recommend). The bartender was quick with our beverages, and they were top-notch as well. We couldn't have skipped the late night stop in but we hit there anyhow. I mean, it's right off the lobby of our Hotel Copley, why not? A fancy spot that's worth stopping in. read more

Didn't want to believe the bad reviews here. So we gave this place the benefit of the doubt, especially due to hotel's reputation and its overall ambiance, but wow... trust the reviews. The food quality was terrible. It's what you'd expect from a free breakfast at a budget hotel, but at this price point, it honestly felt like robbery. The hashbrowns were what I'd imagine eating a leather shoe is like; basically tasted like they'd been reheated from the day before. The eggs tasted like they came from a carton and the bacon was super chewy. Our server was nice, and we were seated quickly... but honestly, that was the only positive part of the experience. Super disappointing choice for our last breakfast in town. Do yourself a favor and try Charlie's down the street or The Friendly Toast instead. read more

The ambience was nice, but that was all. The food was very disappointing -- especially at that price point. If you want Denny's quality food, at 3 times the price, then this is your place. The service could also be improved. No one came to check on us after the food was dropped off. I would not eat here again. read more

Great location, and beautiful inside. The hostess was incredibly sweet, and the service was very professional. We were there for brunch. My dad got the hash skillet and was happy about it. My mom and I got the croque Boston, and it was just a miss for me. Two gigantic pieces of good bread with a lot of salty mornay sauce. There was a good amount of lobster but the bread, copious amounts of Mornay, cheese, it was too,UHC. The salad was almost just garnish and not nearly enough to make up for the rich saltiness. Oh, and the fried poached egg on the top, my stomach hurt from the not huge amount that I ate of the dish, mainly trying to just pick the lobster meat, for the rest of the day. It was too much. It's a great spot, and I will go back, but won't ever order that again. read more

One of the worst places in Boston. There are so many better options to choose from. The staff was incredibly rude. I came with my grandmother, who is frail, and they insisted we sit at high top seating even though an entire section of regular tables was completely empty. That wasn't even the worst part, the food took an extremely long time to come out, about 30-40 minutes, despite the restaurant being nearly empty. The smoked turkey was just okay but incredibly greasy. The clam chowder was by far the worst dish: it tasted smoky and burnt, and I couldn't even eat it. While the restaurant looks nice, I will never be returning. read more

This establishment was just ok for me. I did arrive at the hotel restaurant around 3:00 so that may have attributed to what I'm about to say. The service was just ok. Took a while for someone to arrive at my table - I had to flag someone down. The menu was meager - must have been a bar menu - very few options. Not even a burger! I ordered the shishito peppers which were not cooked all the way and boy did I get mainly spicy ones! Usually you'll get a few here and there but I couldn't eat them - undercooked and mainly spicy. The salad with lobster was recommended to me. The lobster was ok. You could definitely tell it had been frozen and flavor was just ok. I think this is the kind of place you go to and just have drinks and apps. Disappointing for a Fairmont. read more

We have been searching for good lobster rolls nearby and I think this is the best we found. Tasty, sweet and fresh lobster, not too much mayo and a perfectly toasted and buttered roll. Good ratio of bread to lobster and decent fries. I ordered mine with a salad which was also very good. It's expensive but expected for the location. read more

Over-priced and slow service. We had reservation but it took the front-reception ladies 10 minutes to seat us( and I can't say they were friendly or welcoming!). When our waiter finally arrived, it took 20 minutes for our cocktails and then 20 more minutes for our appetizers! So from the time of our reservation/arrival till we finally saw food on the table it took almost an hour!! The food is good but not great and it's certainly over-priced. That said, the place looks nice, is a historical hotel and in a great location. read more

I loved Oak Bar. The elegant decor, the beautiful large bar, and the phenomenal service made it feel like a true date-night spot. The low-lit ambiance was warm and special, the drinks were amazing, and it was hands-down the best espresso martini I've had in Boston. The bar was packed on a Saturday at 5pm but worth the hustle to snag a couple bar seats! read more

Glad I came here during my trip to Boston. I love that the atmosphere was very sophisticated and farm-to-table. I sat at the bar, in which the chair was quite comfortable. They were absolutely packed but they handled it well and I was assisted rather quickly. For appetizer I ordered, CHARRED HEAD-ON TIGER PRAWN - green harissa, mint, meyer lemon. The tiger prawn were meaty, cooked perfectly and the flavors of the green harris, mint, lemon was truly balanced and still did not overpower the sweet flavor of the prawn. For entree I couldn't pass up the steak as it came with bone marrow! RIBEYE & BONE MARROW - 16 oz angus ribeye, creamed spinach, duck fat hash brown, sauce périgueux. Everything about this entree was mouthwatering, melt in the mouth, perfect amount of crisp on the hash brown and the sauce périgueux went so well with the steak. Beyond LOVED this dish! For dessert I ordered the BREAD PUDDING maker's mark caramel, bacon, walnut praline, vanilla ice cream. I wished the bread pudding was a bit warmer, however this was SO good. The bread pudding was moist, great consistency and loved the saltiness from the bacon but sweetness from the caramel. Amazing dessert. Would absolutely be a spot I'd recommend and come back to in Boston. read more

First off the ambience. The minute you walk into the Fairmont Copley Plaza hotel to reach the Oak Long Bar + Kitchen, you are simply an awe. The historic location and details of times gone by are truly magnificent. We ordered the lobster roll, clam chowder, and the turkey focaccia sandwich which was piled high with turkey. The focaccia bread was delicious. Service was good. The cocktails were a bit pricey. Definitely recommend for lunch. read more

From the moment I walked in, the service was top notch, warm, attentive, and genuinely kind from the hostess to the waiter to even the bus boy. The ambiance was incredible, with a classic old timey bar that had real charm. And the food? Phenomenal. I devoured the shrimp and grits in a rich wet sauce with sausage, so flavorful I couldn't slow down. A truly memorable dining experience. read more

Valentines Day dinner date with my love Cupid & his little arrow did not miss. OAK Long Bar delivered a wonderfully romantic ambiance & dinning experience for this special evening. Dine in gorgeous ambience & artfully restored surroundings with a fresh (yet small) local menu offering delicious options. While overtly crowded, service was adequate & our server was very nice. Appreciate the lovely night at OAK Long Bar. Would certainly like to revisit and try other menu items. read more

We stayed at the Fairmont Copley Plaza for a week and indulged in their daily breakfast. Service was typically fantastic and there isn't a wait for tables on weekdays. Reservations are recommended for weekends brunch can get super busy. As other reviewers have noted, the low tables are more conducive to bar bites rather than a formal breakfast. Espresso based drinks are made from a Nespresso machine. Food is pretty good and here is what we ordered: - American breakfast: hearty, but skip the scrambled eggs if you don't like it hard scrambled as they can be a tad dry. Sunny side was fine - Lobster Benedict: healthy servings of vinegared lobster with jammy eggs and hollandaise. The English muffin was superb - dense and crunchy from the butter grill - Corned beef hash: hearty breakfast - Crab and avocado toast: healthy serving of crab with avo toast read more

we were looking for a late night (9pm on a wednesday) small bite to eat, and came to the oak long bar + kitchen located inside the copley fairmont hotel. no street entrance, must walk through gorgeous lobby down the hall. interior design and ambiance is stunning, pretty loud and busy even on a Wednesday. jose was an exceptional server. we only wanted a little something last minute, so we started with hearth baked bread, grilled spanish octopus, and seasonal greens. we both ordered penny droppers, and they were so good we got a second round. the bread was baked perfectly with melted butter and extra butter on the side. the octopus was the perfect texture, and the greens went well as a side. Honestly, for the price, I wasn't that impressed although the service and drinks were great. Came here on a Sunday afternoon. We had just missed the lunch menu and were given the "pre-dinner" menu, which was lacking in the protein department, and told that dinner wouldn't be offered until 3:30. So we waited because we were quite hungry. The cocktails in the meantime hit the spot. For dinner, I ordered the burger which came with fries. The fries were crispy but the burger just ok. It was cooked past medium, which I had asked for, and was too tall making it hard to bite into. I also wasn't impressed with their burger sauce. If you ask me, a $27 burger should be perfect. Then for dessert we got the molten chocolate cake. Pretty lackluster if I'm being honest. It was decidedly un-molten and the ice cream it came with was boring. I'd maybe come back for the ambience and drinks, and perhaps the other food is better. But for a burger, go elsewhere. Ambience: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Food: 2.5/5 Weird pre-dinner menu: 1/5 read more

Excellent breakfast!!! Their breakfast is on point!! I ordered the corn beef hash and it's by far the best I have tried this trip and I tried it several times at different establishments this go around. It came in a skillet, topped with two soft poached eggs (my favorite) and hollandaise sauce. I got an extra side of hollandaise sauce. It's also served with a side of toast, I got sourdough. Phenomenal! Enjoyed every bite of this meal. Only downside is getting seated at the low round white cocktail tables. Those tables arent really meant to eat off of as they sit so low relative to the seat. Maybe don't sit people there for breakfast. These tables and seats are made for sitting and having a few drinks, not having a sit down meal. Service was welcoming, efficient and attentive. Highly recommend this spot for breakfast! I'm sure it's a kool spot for dinner and drinks in the evening as well read more

This place is to DIEEE for. The vibe is so beautiful, and the hotel it is attached to was beautiful to walk around as well. The service was Amazing, everything came promptly, the waiter had great banter, and the overall vibe of the place was really amazing. I got the bone marrow steak combo and the paella, and both were oh so good, I couldn't pick a favorite. The steak has this side of a hashbrown cooked in duck fat, it was fried to the perfect cris and so flavorful. The bone marrow was delicious, and the steak was cooked perfectly (get it medium rare) The paella had a good amount of seafood, and the presentation was beautiful. I loved the cook on the shrimp. You have to end it with the expresso martinis. I think it might have been the best expresso martini I have had. read more

Food tasted pretty good, was fresh and cooked very well but the service was not good at all and extremely slow - We arrived at 5:30. -Placed our order almost immediately thereafter. -Received the appetizer (clam chowder) within 10-15 minutes -But the entrees took well over an hour to arrive.. didn't receive the entrees until 6:45 -7:00 may have been later -Didn't end up leaving the restaurant until 8:15 because it took probably 30 minutes to get the check squared away Overall, if the service was better this would have easily been a 4-5 star review because honestly the food was delicious & the Hostess was so nice / welcoming. read more

Made reservations for 7am soon as they opened up. We were the only guest there and somehow after being sat, we were completely forgot about for 20 mins. If it was busy I would understand, but it was only my wife and I. Had to grab someone walking around to ask for a waiter. Finally ordered food and it took nearly 40 mins to get our food. Waiter didn't come by again for over 30 mins and we had to wave someone down to get our check. The brunch food was good and the atmosphere was nice, but the service really just ruined the whole experience. read more

I visited this place twice during my visit (and only because I was staying in the hotel and it was convenient). The decor is nice and it lends itself well to the business folks who want to stop in to have a drink and a meal. The food, however, is just average. The dishes present themselves beautifully, but they lack any strong flavor. The exception is the clam chowder, which was nice. The manager and servers were attentive and friendly. The restaurant has plenty of seating and is cozy, but dark. It can get loud when crowded, but that is to be expected. The prices are high and with many dining options within walking distance, it is worth venturing out if you have time. read more

Really lovely bar and restaurant. Had brunch and a few drinks, which were great. Place was packed. Recommend having a reservation.

Sadly we were not impressed. Stayed at the Fairmont Copley and was very disappointed with almost every aspect of this game establishment from the hostess to the waitstaff to the ridiculously over priced food. The coffee ($8) was watery, the oatmeal inedible (add +4 for a few berries.) Quite honestly I found that staff rude. Try Tatte around the corner instead. read more

Oak Longbar saved my Thanksgiving! On a visit to Boston, we were left with no real options for a Thanksgiving dinner, but with only a few hours notice, Oak Longbar was able to fit us in for dinner. We arrived on time, and were seated promptly. The dining room is a large, very impressive space, with huge, arched ceilings, and beautiful gold fixtures, all around. To drink I ordered a Penny Dropped, and we ordered the hearth bread to start. It was unbelievably good, and hit the spot, on that cold and rainy night. For my Thanksgiving dinner, I ordered the fried turkey, with a stuffing waffle. It was better than I ever could have expected. The turkey was so moist and had great texture with the crispy skin outside. The stuffing waffle with the cranberry sauce was such a delight to accompany the turkey. It was incredibly busy, but we were never waiting too long for anything , our waiter was always able to check in on us. read more

This is solely for the bar...which is fantastic! Great atmosphere and space (although there are a lot of business folks), they offer great cocktails. But the space is really why you come here with its history and high ceilings. The drinks were also moderately priced. We ended up trying this place after looking around on a Saturday afternoon for a reservation nearby.
