One of the worst places in Boston. There are so many better options to choose from. The staff was incredibly rude. I came with my grandmother, who is frail, and they insisted we sit at high top seating even though an entire section of regular tables was completely empty. That wasn't even the worst part, the food took an extremely long time to come out, about 30-40 minutes, despite the restaurant being nearly empty. The smoked turkey was just okay but incredibly greasy. The clam chowder was by far the worst dish: it tasted smoky and burnt, and I couldn't even eat it. Took a while for someone to arrive at my table - I had to flag someone down. The menu was meager - must have been a bar menu - very few options. Not even a burger! I ordered the shishito peppers which were not cooked all the way and boy did I get mainly spicy ones! Usually you'll get a few here and there but I couldn't eat them - undercooked and mainly spicy. The salad with lobster was recommended to me. The lobster was ok. You could definitely tell it had been frozen and flavor was just ok. For entree I couldn't pass up the steak as it came with bone marrow! RIBEYE & BONE MARROW - 16 oz angus ribeye, creamed spinach, duck fat hash brown, sauce périgueux. Everything about this entree was mouthwatering, melt in the mouth, perfect amount of crisp on the hash brown and the sauce périgueux went so well with the steak. Beyond LOVED this dish! For dessert I ordered the BREAD PUDDING maker's mark caramel, bacon, walnut praline, vanilla ice cream. I wished the bread pudding was a bit warmer, however this was SO good. Honestly, for the price, I wasn't that impressed although the service and drinks were great. Came here on a Sunday afternoon. We had just missed the lunch menu and were given the "pre-dinner" menu, which was lacking in the protein department, and told that dinner wouldn't be offered until 3:30. So we waited because we were quite hungry. The cocktails in the meantime hit the spot. For dinner, I ordered the burger which came with fries. The fries were crispy but the burger just ok. It was cooked past medium, which I had asked for, and was too tall making it hard to bite into. I also wasn't impressed with their burger sauce. If you ask me, a $27 burger should be perfect. Then for dessert we got the molten chocolate cake. Pretty lackluster if I'm being honest. It was decidedly un-molten and the ice cream it came with was boring. I ordered the corn beef hash and it's by far the best I have tried this trip and I tried it several times at different establishments this go around. It came in a skillet, topped with two soft poached eggs (my favorite) and hollandaise sauce. I got an extra side of hollandaise sauce. It's also served with a side of toast, I got sourdough. Phenomenal! Enjoyed every bite of this meal. Only downside is getting seated at the low round white cocktail tables. Those tables arent really meant to eat off of as they sit so low relative to the seat. Maybe don't sit people there for breakfast. These tables and seats are made for sitting and having a few drinks, not having a sit down meal. Service was welcoming, efficient and attentive. Highly recommend this spot for breakfast! Made reservations for 7am soon as they opened up. We were the only guest there and somehow after being sat, we were completely forgot about for 20 mins. If it was busy I would understand, but it was only my wife and I. Had to grab someone walking around to ask for a waiter. Finally ordered food and it took nearly 40 mins to get our food. The steak has this side of a hashbrown cooked in duck fat, it was fried to the perfect cris and so flavorful. The bone marrow was delicious, and the steak was cooked perfectly (get it medium rare) The paella had a good amount of seafood, and the presentation was beautiful. I loved the cook on the shrimp. Oak Longbar saved my Thanksgiving! On a visit to Boston, we were left with no real options for a Thanksgiving dinner, but with only a few hours notice, Oak Longbar was able to fit us in for dinner. We arrived on time, and were seated promptly. The dining room is a large, very impressive space, with huge, arched ceilings, and beautiful gold fixtures, all around. To drink I ordered a Penny Dropped, and we ordered the hearth bread to start. It was unbelievably good, and hit the spot, on that cold and rainy night. For my Thanksgiving dinner, I ordered the fried turkey, with a stuffing waffle. It was better than I ever could have expected. The turkey was so moist and had great texture with the crispy skin outside. The stuffing waffle with the cranberry sauce was such a delight to accompany the turkey.
