Disappointing service ruined what could have been a great experience This restaurant has potential, but the customer service -- specifically from the hostess, Adrian -- was extremely disappointing. Before arriving, we called ahead to ask if it was okay to come early and were told it was fine. When we arrived, Adrian told us we couldn't be seated until 5:00, which was completely fine, so we took seats at the bar to wait. Shortly after, Adrian approached us and said we could not order at the bar and would need to wait to be seated because they didn't want us to have two separate tabs. We were then made to wait without being offered happy hour specials or any hospitality whatsoever. After being seated and having a good dinner Adrian came over and very rudely made complaints about our children being "too loud," which was confusing and frustrating. Our kids were quietly watching iPads and were noticeably calmer than many other patrons in what is already a loud restaurant. Despite this, the situation was escalated to the point where Adrian claimed the owner had an issue with us and had requested that she speak to us -- which felt unnecessary and frankly ridiculous. If the owner truly had concerns, we would have welcomed a direct conversation. Instead, we were made to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. We specifically asked to speak with him. She told us that he had unfortunately just left.. if you are the owner and reading this, we welcome outreach and a discussion. Unfortunately, due to this experience, we will not be returning -- nor will we visit the sister restaurant. A real shame, because the food and atmosphere could be great, but serious improvement is needed in customer service and guest communication. read more

First, Kat at the bar is the best... always nice to have a friendly bartender when traveling alone. The short rib gnocchi was really good. Not sure it was 100% worth the price but it is the Vail Valley and it was a good portion and quite tasty. The atmosphere here is great as well. read more

Don't be surprised by the humble outside appearance or by the ordinary menus on Yelp reviews. This really is fine dining. The salad and French onion soup were very good and the prime rib was incredible. Mario was so gracious and friendly and the manager even checked to make sure everything was good. The house Pinot Grigio was a pleasant surprise, too. A little more expensive than we expected based on menus we had seen, but worth the splurge. read more

Super cozy spot. Got the Lamb Hash with over medium eggs. Definitely a different dish. The lamb was tender. I wasn't a huge fan of the pico de gallo that was mixed in, but still overall a good dish. Also tried the Avocado Toast which was pretty basic. Their coffee is out of this world good. So fresh. Make sure to get there early for their cronuts, but if you're late, the cinnamon rolls and or donuts will suffice. read more

This was my favorite places but I've noticed a decline over the last couple of seasons. Ended up spending $70 with the tip... and the incredibly annoying " kitchen living wage" How is $42 not enough for you to pay a fair wage in return for a small to moderate portion of the lobster risotto??? I would only give the dish a 3 of 5 on the taste scale and a 2 of 5 on the value. HOWEVER, add the filet- it was delicious and an absolute steal for a small add on price. I think $10 -$15. My favorite dish is no longer on the menu-- elk bolognese. The replacement, the elk sausage with papadelle is not as tasty and never has enough sauce or meat in the sauce. I always add the burratta ball, which was cold in the middle last time. It's better warm and melty. 3 of 5 taste, 2 of 5 value . I still recommend this place to all of my guests that I shuttle. The servers, Marilyn and Sasha, are fantastic!¡ as is the staff every season. Donuts are delicious too, when they have them. Didn't see them once this season. I know times are tough, but know your strengths and what separates you from being good instead of mid. read more

I ordered the Smothered Breakfast Burrito. It can be ordered in two sizes, regular & Grande. I made the mistake of ordering the Grande. It was huge so I ended up with leftovers for another breakfast. It was delicious. The green chili sauce complimented the filling. The owner stopped to see how everything was going. He was very personable and had a good sense of humor. Great sandwiches, hefty price tag. We stopped in to get a to go order to bring back to our hotel for dinner. Nobody really there we were not greeted in any way. We grabbed a few menus and sat down to look over what we wanted. The wife and I chose our sandwiches (around $20 each). I walked up to the bar and said hello. She looked at us like we just magically appeared out of nowhere. She was pleasant and took our order. I ordered the French Dip, and the wife ordered a turkey sandwich. We walked across the parking lot to the 7=Eleven and returned in about 10 minutes. Perfect timing, food was ready, we paid and were on our way. The portion sizes were definitely huge and very high-quality ingredients. We easily turned into two meals. Will I be back? That's a big maybe. But you won't be disappointed with the food. read more

Checked this place out a couple days ago.. we REALLY wanted to love this place..the food I had was delicious. (I had the filet minion Colorado style -pictured) my husband had the ribeye which was skimpy. The prices are super expensive for not a 'fancy' restaurant. The server was unfortunately snarky and not very nice. It was loud and lively in there but children made a gross mess next to us and no one cleaned it up the whole time we sat there. What did it for me is the women's bathroom - I can't even explain how disgusting it was- overflowing toilet and used tp all over the ground - I couldn't finish my meal bc of it. We came here with a bunch of friends. Would recommend getting a reservation as this place as it was pretty full when we arrived. The host was very polite and friendly. We were seated quickly. The place was dimmed at night giving off a nice relaxing vibe but it was very easy to see and walk around. Our server was very attentive throughout the night. We requested for bread and the bread was okay. The bread came out warm but I wished the bread had a harder exterior. We ordered the prime wagyu ribeye cap and saltimbocca deviled eggs. I liked the ribeye cap with the purred potato - however the potato was the best part of that dish. Deviled eggs were good - standard in flavor. Got the Jim's short rib gnocchi, and duck cassoulet. The short rib was well cooked and very flavorful with the creamy pesto sauce - would recommend getting this dish. The duck was well seasoned had such rich flavors. Definitely a good choice if you wanted a hearty warm soup like dish - it hit the spot after hitting the slopes. For dessert we got a donut bread pudding with vanilla ice cream. The bread pudding tasted like fruity pebbles. It wasn't my favorite. Overall the appetizer and entrees was the highlight of the night and the presentation of all the dishes was amazing. Wife and I coming back from Aspen Jazz Fest and wanted an impromptu date night en route to Denver. Northside didn't disappoint. It is conveniently located right off I-70. The manager Rodney greeted us at the door and treated us like we mattered. He checked on us a couple of times and we had genuine conversation. Mario was our server. He is very dialed in. Great eye contact and checked on us frequently. Ultimate professional. We had the Caesar Salad w/ Salmon, the Prime New York and the Burrata. I appreciate the Prime NY as it wasn't overly seasoned. The quality of meat and the preparation did all the talking. We really liked the wine list. I had the Flowers Pinot Noir. Delish. read more

Really great breakfast spot in Avon. Pretty reasonable prices for the giant portions. We had the filet burrito but split it because it was giant from what we saw coming out. It was perfectly filling before a great day of skiing. They also sell donuts to go. I got the Cronut which was literally a glazed fried croissant which is different from a typical cronut I've seen. Yummy though. Service was quite slow though which was a con. Cleanliness was decent but the bathroom needs updating. Conveniently located on the other side of the highway from the resort and by the gas stations. Would recommend for a great breakfast but they serve all meals I believe. read more

This restaurant's "vegan option," the Vegan "feast," is pathetic. There are 4 sectional 1/4" slices of sweet potato, some asparagus tips, some candied cranberries, and a sprinkling of candied walnuts. That is what's listed on the menu. These ingredients sit on a bed of arugula to make the dish look somewhat more substantial than it is. I estimate that the dish they brought me had not more than 300 calories of food. Probably more telling is that both the menu and the server want to upgrade the vegan "feast" with animal products, which is basically the only way to have this great "feast" without leaving hungry. The server, Mario, after I told him I was vegan, offered to put some meat on it. After I declined telling him I was vegan, he offered chicken. When I said no, no animal products at all, he offered fish. My friend, who was not vegan, was very satisfied with the meat dish ordered. Essentially, the Vegan Feast is a bait and switch attempt to get vegan to consent to eating here. read more

Poor and rude service. Portion size has shrunk considerably over the past year. Went with my family and they would not let us sit in a booth and then let the next family in sit in the exact booth we asked for. On a separate trip his to get donuts for my daughters birthday, the girl behind the counter put a pink iced donut at the bottom of the bag and all the icing for the special birthday donut came off on the donut on that was smashed on top...I shouldn't have to tell the girl to use a box...but overall really disappointed with every aspect of this place. Solid food, waitress that was great with the kiddos and even better you can go home with a box of donuts after dinner for $1 a piece and they're still good for breakfast the next morning. One of my go-to brunch spots! I always have a great time with great food. Today I tried the lamb hash with over-easy eggs and white toast and thought it was great. My friends ordered the hot chocolate with their meals and were very impressed. The service was great and one of the managers even checked on us twice to make sure we were having a great time. We had breakfast there on Saturday (8/16). We were seated inside of 5 minutes. Our server was great! Made some recommendations and answered all of our questions. Brought over coffee and took our order. 2 got avocado toast and the other had huevos rancheros. All were excellent! We also tried the cronuts, and those are dangerously good! Sad to see what has happened to Northside. Been coming here for breakfast since 2015 and until this year it was 5 stars. No more. I grew up in NJ where my family owned a diner and I spent my teenage years as a breakfast cook. In the past year or so Northside decimated its breakfast menu. I'm not saying there needs to be 25 items - but no more omelettes, skillets, and one sandwich? Why? I know how a kitchen works. These items don't slow down production. In fact, they can speed it up. The quality of food is also much worse. The last three times there the scrambled eggs were brown - in other word way over done. The hash brown portion can fit in a child's palm. Now, more is not always better, but a normal portion is necessary. The coffee is typically Luke warm - sent it back today. I get the sense they are trying to make this a dinner place instead. Fine, then close for breakfast and open later. read more

Northside kitchen is a wonderful restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner near BeaverCreek in Avon, Colorado. They have comfortable spacious seating in the restaurant. The quality of their food and the presentation is top notch. "The Best thing I make for dinner is reservations at Northside Kitchen!" They always have one or two different dinner specials in addition to their regular menu. On my recent ski trip to the valley, I decided to try most of the items on their dinner menu. One of my favorites is the 11oz filet, served Colorado style with two strips of bacon, shrimp and lobster covered in bernaise sauce. It's decadent! They have a wonderful braised lamb shank that melts in your mouth, and the their salmon is coated in everything bagel seasoning and is then cooked to perfection. They make some beautiful appetizers and my favorite are the filet egg rolls and deviled eggs. The restaurant makes cronuts and donuts seven days a week and Northside makes a rich flavorful bread pudding for dessert served a la mode with a scoop of ice cream. In addition, the chocolate cake is moist and dense with beautiful fresh fruits served on top. Most importantly, the owners, general manager and their staff are kind, friendly and wonderful to the dining patrons. This is based on my personal experience and watching how they treat other patrons in the restaurant. Thank you to Jim, Rodney, Matthew, Sasha, Maludi, Alex and Rav for making our month of dining at Northside Kitchen so special five nights a week in the month of January. We made our annual visit to the Northside Kitchen on our trip to Vail. This time we were there to celebrate my husband's birthday, and it did not disappoint. Mario provided us with not only excellent service, but great recommendations for food and drink. The Pappardelle Bolognese was fantastic! My daughter's steak was the best she had ever had. The owner came by to check on us, and we had a lovely visit. We will be back in our next trip to Vail! read more

This is a unique place to know about. In the morning they are busy serving up breakfast and local baked donuts. The crown jewel of the restaurant is the evening transformation into an upscale dining experience. The menu is a departure from the breakfast and lunch to finer dining on steaks, seafood and other well thought of dishes. My favorite dish is the 11oz Filet. They claim it is the best steak you will ever have. Not sure it filled that promise but it may have been the best Filet I have had at a restaurant. I can see why people like this place. Is it cheap ? No. But the food quality and portions are worth the price. The service is attentive and fast without feeling rushed. I'd return. Try the short rib tacos. Very filling and tasty. They do have a period from 3pm to 5pm when the kitchen closes. Before 3pm there appears to be one menu and after 5pm a different menu.
