So I've had the food many times. They are expensive, which isn't negative if it's worth it. But they got classic rock in front of house and rap (which in fine with as a listener, but not when your a business playing sift rock for the business) in the kitchen (explicit lyrics). They told me it would take an extra 15 minutes for the order on top of time it was supposed to take. The cook (Spanish speaking guy with beard and man-bun) said, right in front of me, heirs already here? To say the least very unprofessional. I used to eat here a lot, just moved back to Berkeley and was disappointed. read more

I wanted to find a nearby pizzaria that we could regularly order from. The dough is thick and flavorless. There is too much cheese to sauce ratio and I'm not sure what kind of cheese is used but it's bland and seems like some generic bulk cheese. It's so flavorless it always tastes like white American cheese. We lived in NYC for many years so enjoy a thin NYC slice. This is not that at all. Frozen from the grocery or local franchise are better by far. And I can't believe what we've paid for this pie- I have deep, deep regret and will not order from here ever again. read more

North Beach Pizza is the real deal. After picking my kid up from school we decided to give this place a try. The pizza was amazingly delicious. We ordered 4 pizzas a all of them were very tasty. Great service, quality, atmosphere, and our server was always there to assist with what ever we needed. If you love pizza, you have to go to this place. Guaranteed to blow your minds. There's 2 more locations in SF. read more

I ordered the prawns and fries. The prawns were scrumptious and the fries weren't greasy at all compared to other restaurants I have been to. If you are up for good food... This is the place to be at. The prices are reasonable. And the waitress is amazing. She won't disappoint you. Don't forget to leave her a big tip! read more

It's been years since I've had a north beach pizza, perhaps even over a decade because I always forget that NB had a location in Berkeley. I finally remembered and ordered for our normal Friday night pizza night. Of course I ordered the NB special and tried the meatball pizza. NB special did not disappoint. Meatball was different. I think the meatball consistency was too soft for a pizza topping for my liking, but overall taste was ok. We finished the pizza so that's a good sign. Definitely up for some more experimenting on other specials. Overall service was good. My husband picked up the pizza and he seemed to have been chatty with the staff and didn't mind waiting a bit longer as they worked through a big order. Excited to have an old favorite pizza place back in the queue! read more

last week we ordered a large feta and spinach pizza from the north beach pizza in berkeley on university. i got off work late and the place i usually get pizza was closed. i'd had some delicious and some not so delicious pizzas from the north beach brand in the past when i lived in san francisco. i'm always willing to try again. they are a good 30% pricier than my other pizza shop but... as they were open... you get it. anyway, the guy at the counter was nice, the pizza was ready when they said it would be and... it was freaking delicious! they make a spectacular pie here. i'll definitely order from here again. read more

Horrible horrible horrible! They don't know how to make pizza , cold vegetables and a glob of cheese that's pretty much what you're getting for $45 . Not many refreshments available , not a friendly atmosphere. Stay away! Go spend your hard working money somewhere worthwhile. read more

Delicious stuff crust pizza had the cheese and the Barbary coast and both were really good. Nice customer service and good garlic bread

Yummy GF pizza! Got olives, artichoke and bell peppers. I recommend the wings with the sauce on the side.

Gayle and I took her son and his girlfriend out to lunch here last Saturday. There was not ulterior motive other than for a loving mother's desire to maintain a friendly adult relationship with her son. We also enjoyed the chance to see their new and nicely appointed apartment. We ordered a large pizza, half San Francisco special (clams and garlic) and half Amigo (Ground Beef, Black Olives, Fresh Tomatoes, Green Onions, Jalapeno Peppers). The later was too spicy for all of us, while the SF pizza was pretty darn good. Gayle and I also enjoyed our adult beverages (wine for her and draft IPA for me), while we all had a nice time together talking about fun subjects. And there was of course enough left over pizza for the kids to take home. read more

All I want for Christmas is good Italian food. We ordered a few items for delivery, dishes I assumed would be standard fare for an Italian joint: fettuccini primavera with red sauce, chicken cacciatore, garlic bread, and a side salad. Simple, no? No. The red sauce on both dishes was so sweet it made my tongue pucker and my teeth ache. When you add that much sugar to something other than dessert (or pancakes), it's generally a recipe for disaster. The chicken was dry despite being soaked in grease, and the vegetables (peppers, onions, mushrooms) tasted frozen rather than fresh. Even the "oil and vinegar" dressing on the salad was inedible. Whatever type of vinegar it was, it certainly wasn't balsamic, and it certainly wasn't meant to be dressing. Blech. I'm a huge fan of leftovers, and the portion sizes were generous, but the food was so bad we had to toss it. An Italian restaurant that can't make a standard, savory red sauce is not to be trusted! read more

I tried North Beach Pizza for the first time a few weeks ago and I liked it, but didn't love it. The pizza felt average and was priced relatively high. However, I kept an open mind and was open to try it again and I'm glad I did. Instead of getting my pie to go, we opted on dining in, which resulted in a great experience. It was a little after 4p.m. and the dining area was pretty slow with only three or four tables including us. We started things with garlic bread and ordered a medium "create your own pizza" with pepperoni and green peppers. We paid an extra $1 for the thick crust, which made the biggest difference in the world. And for only $1! In comparison, Round Table charges around $3-4 for a thicker crust. The garlic bread came out and was good, but I limited myself to a piece or two, as I knew I was going to stuff myself with the pizza pie. Unfortunately, the pizza pie took a little long to come out, I would say about 20 minutes, which felt excruciating long, especially with the small number of diners. However, the server kept checking up on us and refilling our drinks and never neglected us. Once the pie came out, it looked amazing (see pics). It tasted like a completely different pizza from my previous Vegetarian Special. The $1 crust upgrade made all the difference and took the pizza from average to must try. The cheese was gooey, the marinara was just right, and the pepperoni was under the cheese, which is something I've never seen. I didn't want to stop eating, but after three or four slices, I was stuffed. After my great experience, I suggest creating your own pizza rather than ordering the expensive house specialties. We paid a little over $20 for our medium pizza with two toppings and our garlic bread appetizer. In comparison, the first time I ordered the large Vegetarian Special, it came to almost $30 and wasn't nowhere near as good as our recent pie. As if that wasn't enough, service was great, with two girls checking up on us frequently. North Beach Pizza has a new fan! North Beach Pizza - Pepperoni and Green Peppers w/ Thick Crust - Pizza Near Me - Berkeley, California

After an absolute day of languid laziness and no strict schedules of any kind set, we met up with good friends of mine from Sacramento, who were on their way back to the capitol after catching the Bernhardt show in SF. I've passed this nondescript shop a gazillion times on my way to UC Berkeley and fun Telegraph, so pulling into their parking lot was a little on the surreal side for me. Wow. A free parking lot in Berkeley. Once inside, I am instantly wooed by the warm casual and unimposing decor and ambiance. The tables are clean and clothed in green checkered tablecloths. The vinyl seat literally reaches up to receive me, and my aching feet are tucked under in a serene yoga sit-up position. During moments of chatter, I peruse the menu. Cheap, affordable, and lots of choices. Usually not what I expect at a pizzeria. Since I was craving pesto for some crazy reason, the chicken with pesto sauce seemed quite striking to me, and I ordered the small ($12.95). The bf ordered a plate of their gnocchi in pesto sauce (I think $8.95?) and an appetizer of fried tortellinis. The entire table decided to order the Caesar salad, priced at $5.95, because the waitress assured us that it would feed a table of four. After a great conversation that ensured my bf's stance in the view of my rating friends, our meal arrived. Holy moly! The portions here were huge........the Caesar salad was a platter of tossed greens in their signature dressing, my pizza was this sinful 12-inch large round of melting cheeses, juicy chicken, and mushrooms and onions. I was lit up with Italian food bliss. The bf's gnocchi was a perfect combination of savory and slightly sweetness in the potato puffs of pasta..... We left, with two containers of leftovers, which incidentally ended up our early lunch on Monday. Great gourmet style pizza when Blondie's is too casual and you need to rest your weary legs. Our waitress was great with her recommendations as well as service, since our food kept on coming in a straight line. She's probably a student at UCB, so kudos to her for this academic year and being a great employee at this location. read more

I am so sorry to leave this review, but I think that it's an important matter. I ordered a pizza from them through delivery.com and had an awful experience. When I answered the questions at their web page I ordered a 4 cheese pizza and selected gluten free option. When the pizza arrived it was a different kind of pizza. I said, well that's not a big deal. The problem was when I tried the pizza and asked myself, OMG! Is this GF pizza? I called the restaurant and they said they didn't have any GF options in the pizza I asked for, nor in the one they sent me. The person at the phone was very nice and apologetic. They told me to call delivery.com, so I did. The lady at the phone was very rude. They treated me like if I were lying and told me that they would not refund my money. I think there is a big responsibility here of people who offer GF options! I felt sick and impotent because they didn't return my money. Where are the rights as costumers? Luckily I don't have a severe allergy to gluten, but it does make me feel sick. So sad, the pizza was delicious. read more

I like this place. The decor is classic for a dive eatery and the service was pretty great for 3pm on a Monday. Now, the pizza. It was $22 and some change for a 14-inch pie. This is a typical price for a local run business so I was not too shocked to see those numbers on the menu. Anyway, I got my pizza and took it back to my hotel and dove into it. I was not too impressed. Yes, it was a good pizza. Was it as good as it was made out to be? No. I would eat here again but it would not be my first choice. read more

North Beach Pizza - Entryway. Pretty cool decor. - Pizza Near Me - Berkeley, California

I am so done with this place... even if it is good for young kids. It must have gone down hill. It can't just be me. The eggplant parm sandwich is still one of the best deals on the menu. But last time I had it, it was just nasty. Barely sauced. Cheese blonde and barely melted. Same goes for the 'za. Maybe they are trying to save on energy costs by under cooking their food. I might go back again. It is a family place, and very kid friendly. Plus they have beer. Which sometimes you need with the family. read more

Not sure about the bad yelp-press, I hadn't been here in a couple of years and despite the lactose issues, I braved it as the request of my two minis. The two minis had the kids pizza, quite a buy at six bucks for six kid sized slices...moving on to the main event. The better half and I did a 50/50 a veggie and goat cheese/pesto. The pesto special was exactly as I remembered from the good old days. Overall a nice experience, and the place was full at 7.00pm on a Saturday nite, it can't be that bad. Let the haters go somewhere else, this is the place for me. read more

Horrible food. I ordered through uber eats and paid over a hundred dollars and was given tasteless inedible food. The thin crust wasn't even thin and the pizza tasted like cardboard. The pasta had 5 baby sized pieces of broccoli for the add broccoli option. And tasted like nothing but sausage. We ended up as a family not eating it. How this restaurant is still in business is beyond me. In a dish with multiple ingredients things are supposed to compliment each other and not just taste like 1 thing. Cheese tortellini that has no flavor and bland meatballs. Yuck! read more

October was my first time coming to this restaurant. Someone I know recommended this and said their pizza was really good. I ordered this for my daughter's birthday and her and her friends loved it. It was good. Around Halloween I thought I would come back and try something different so I ordered Alfredo Pasta Penne. I also ordered Pesto Pasta Penne. In my opinion almost $20 for each pan was way too much for the amount, but that's not my issue. My issue was that the Alfredo sauce was bland and slight watery. It tasted like I ate noodles and water. The pesto was a bit better but dry. Overall I if I come back I will never get the pasta. Smells can be deceiving. Pizza is your best option here read more

UberEATS pricing hides the real price. Pizza is OK, but they're slimy business people.

I love eating freshly made pizza here. it beats taken the box home and having a little cardboard taste on the bottom. When you order in house, you get the ooey gooey experience. The dough is soft but not too thick with a crisp crust. You have your choice of toppings, but all are so good and generously place on top. the pizza is always delicious filling. The only problem I had was the service was not as attentive and the place wasn't even packed (maybe only 3 tables). read more

I go to North Beach pizza a lot and it's often really good, but the quality control is quite poor and some days (like today) the sauce is clearly old and stale and it makes the pizza taste bad and makes me feel a bit sick after eating it. I paid for my pizza with cash. The driver took my money and dropped the pizza off. The manager called me back 4 hours later and told me that he was sending a driver over to get the cash for the pizza that I already paid for. I explained that I had already paid and I even told him the exact bills I used to pay with. The manager said that he didn't believe that I paid for the pizza. I have never been treated this way ever from a business...it is insulting and wrong and they basically were calling me a liar. The delivery guy is ripping this company off and making them look bad and passing it off on the customers. Did they think I was going to pay for my pizza twice since their delivery man was being shady? Think again! This is the first time ever I have written a review for a restaurant and only because they made me so upset I just had to warn others. Stay away from this place. read more

The pizza's too cheesy. They do make one of the best garlic pizzas in the Bay Area - something that's surprisingly hard to come by. What I really like about this place is the dining room. Mixed results from this place. The cheese pizza is good. But the presentation of their veggie pizza is ugly and it tasted mediocre. No one wanted to touch it at our company dinner. I tried their Alfredo with broccoli and the broccoli was the best part... The sauce just tasted like milk. The quantity was also low for a $14 meal. Ordered a single slice of sausage pizza from here too. It was good, bready but good! This place is decent bur I wouldn't recommend it unless you just want a cheap slice of pizza. read more

I understand that COVID is making things more difficult for everyone, but that's no excuse for terrible customer service. My sister has ordered from them several times and every time something was wrong with the order. I should have avoided ordering at all. My mistake. The pizza was good. It usually is. But I ordered additional items that were not delivered. When I called the restaurant to address the issue, they completely blamed it on their driver and refused to correct my order, offering a refund and claiming they only have one driver and he had another order already. A good team is only as good as it's weakest link and it's not a good sign to be just blaming others instead of considering one member's mistake a mistake of the whole company. Not to mention the person, Julia, was very rude. Absolutely ridiculous. As the customer, if I was charged for something and didn't get it after waiting patiently and then being told I have to wait for a refund (credit card refunds take days) instead of being shown even a modicum or sympathy or respect, I think being upset is understandable. This location has consistently gotten orders wrong and then not even had the decency to act apologetic or show any basic respect! What kind of business is this? I won't order here again. I hope they enjoyed the money I gave them, they won't see another dollar from me. read more

My kids and I ordered two pizzas for delivery; they didn't come. We called and Gustavo said the driver had taken them. He jumped on it, redid the order, offered us credits, and then delivered the pizzas himself. Turns out the driver had accidentally given our pizzas to someone else, but didn't want to fess up. That was definitely not cool. We were starving. But Gustavo's response was perfect, and we really appreciated it. read more

My boyfriend and I were in Berkeley on a Saturday evening looking for something new to try. We came looking at this place from across the street and it looked like a nice cozy pizza spot with the rainy weather it fit nicely. Going inside the place is nice and clean, we picked a booth and for it to be a Saturday around 1:30pm it wasn't so busy at all. Things I like: - Funky joints with over the top old-school Italian-American decor - Reasonably priced lunch specials that provide a lot of food - A soft, fresh, real Italian-style roll with a ton of meatballs and melted cheese - A large fountain drink - Friendly waitresses - Quick service - Fresh salad Things I'm not so crazy about: - Bland, mushy meatballs - Micro-serving of marinara on sandwich - Plastic drinking glasses that taste of bleach - Iceberg lettuce (though not a deal killer) And so. 2 stars. I might try the pizza, if I was hungry. read more

Ouch, 2.5 stars? Although it's not the best pizza, they have a nice variety and slices are big! Their garlic bread is yummy. When the pizza comes out, its warm and the toppings are fresh (never tried getting meat yet so not sure about the quality of all toppings...?) The large slices of juicy tomatoes on one of my pizza's was melted into stringy cheese and delicious. By the time I got back to my apartment, though, the pizza wasn't stringy anymore... but whatever. If you love cheesy pizza, you will love North Beach Pizza. I don't pretend to know much about pizza, or particular like it, but my husband and his friends got a deal for North Beach off restaurant.com, so here we are. North Beach resembles an old IHOP building, with it's Alpine A-shaped roof. It's interior is charmingly decorated with vintage signage, art, and photos of their regular customers. We ordered a large pizza for the 4 of us. Half Coit Tower (Mushrooms, pepperoni, italien sausage) and half Golden Gate (a very garlicky sauce, pesto, onion, chicken). The service was good, standard. But the kitchen was a bit slow. It was a Saturday night around 8pm and not particularly busy. There appeared to be a lot of wait staff for the number of eat-in customers there actually were, but they must be front-heavy because it seemed like back--of-the-house could've used a little more help. It took probably 25 minutes for us to get our pizza. When it arrived, it was hot! The cheese was soft and stringy, making it a little awkward to serve the slices, but isn't that what most of us love about pizza? Overall, the pizza was flavorful, but not lifechanging. read more
