We had a wonderful time dining at Nomade. We sat outside on a Sunday and the ambiance was beautiful. Pro tip: they have happy hour all night on Sundays! This was a pleasant surprise and we found new favorites trying a variety of dishes. We absolutely loved the panucho - it was by far the best dish we tried and it's even on the happy hour menu. The meat melts in your mouth and the flavors are exquisite with just the right amount of spice. We also enjoyed the coconut flatbread, hamachi ceviche, and the wagyu bistec. The server gave us some great recommendations to share and was friendly throughout the meal. For dessert we got the chocolate cheesecake and churros. The churros were my favorite but the chocolate cheesecake is also great especially if you love chocolate. I will definitely be back to Nomade soon! read more

Nice ambiance - just like tulum! Perfect for a date night or evening out with the girls. Not so much of a place for small children (at least in the evenings anyways). While inside is nice and has A/C, there's no music. The music, smell, and vibes are outside. While they say it's weatherproof outside (covered, fans, mister) it was still hot on the day we went (100 degree day). Some of the outdoor seating is cooler in some spots than others. Food: The JAIBA FRITA was my favorite. The soft shell crab by itself was nothing spectacular but eaten as a taco with the jicama shell and sauces - it was fabulous! Coconut flatbread was meh. The bronzino was fresh, and very flavorful and a nice portion. Drinks: try one of their cocktail specialties. They are different and that's why you're there - to try something different! Plus, they don't appear to deviate much from their menu. (No dirty martinis, etc). The mocktails appear to be popular here, although I didn't try one. Tips: parking was easy. They had limited free parking directly behind restaurant and a pay for parking lot right next door. Make reservations! Sit outside to get a better experience. The relaxed vibe and muted colors of the place immediately brought a calming feeling over me as we walked through the restaurant to the back patio. I was worried about the Texas heat sitting "outside" but the fans and shading made it very comfortable. Actually the entire restaurant is open air so eating "inside" or "outside" is going to feel close to the same. Recommend going with some friends and all sharing the plates so you can try a little bit of everything. We didn't have one bad dish and each one was presented like a work of art. We ordered the following: To start, we had tostadas with sauces*, charred pulpo, ensalada de tomate*, and jaiba fritas*. Then we ordered scallop agua chile, hamachi ceviche, and ostiones borrachos*. For the larger plates, we ordered enmoladas verdes and wagyu bistec*. Although we were full, the dessert menu looked too good to pass up so we got the tres leches*, churros, and coconut flan. Each dish was heavenly but I put an * next to my absolute favorites. The creativity in each of the plates was top notch and the combination of the flavors seem to explode with each bite. Don't forget to try out the signature cocktails that were unique in their own way also. We each had our favorites but my favorite was the La Jungla if you like the "tiki" type drinks. The wait staff were very attentive and answered our many questions we had about the dishes we were ordering. They were quick to refill our waters but also left a pitcher of water on our table so we could refill ourselves. Highly recommend this one! read more

Visited Nomade last night with a few friends. Service was welcoming and helpful. Our waitress had a great attitude and her recommendations were a hit. I tried two different cocktails and they were both delicious. The tuna tostada was light and delectable. The panucho was not heavy at all in comparison with other panuchos I've had at other restaurants. I tried to have a light dinner cause we were going dancing afterwards but will try more dishes next time cause everything looked appetizing. read more

This was my first time dining here, and it was not the best experience. When I received my food and took a bite, I found a hair in it. I was with a group of ten, and when we asked to split the bill equally among us, we were informed that it could only be split in two ways. I ventured to Nomade this past Saturday. We were able to find immediate bar seating. Nice looking crowd of local Austin folks even though it was SXSW. We started with a tuna tostada, and octopus. Both starters were very good. Next came a pork chop that was solid, but a tad overcooked for my tastes. The flavors of the dish were solid. Drinks and service were great. We went here for my birthday dinner and were pretty disappointed. I'd say all the simple things that a restaurant should do at this price point, they got wrong. 1. missing utensils, and incorrect glasses (they ran out) 2. appetizer came in at the same time as main dishes while we were starving for 40 minutes 3. inattentive and absent-minded service without offering drink refills. 4. no happy birthday candle/mini dessert even though it was on the reservation. 5. drinks, my date's horchata took 20 minutes to make. The Food: Pulpo was on point, hugely overpriced ($26.00) but still really amazing. 5/5 Coconut Flatbread: weird, bitter/sour taste - it came after a 40 minute wait and after we explicitly asked for our server to check on the app. We sent it back. 1/5 Pork: my date's pork was overcooked and not good. 2/5 Short Rib: I thought it was 4/5 but for $34.00 it should have fallen off the bone and have been perfect. The portion was small also. Drinks: we both had zero proof drinks, Horchata: 5/5 - really amazing My Zero Proof Tamarind Sour was 4.5/5 really good. I'd say come for the pulpo and the zero proof drinks, and expect to wait a while hungry and thirsty. read more

Small indoor space to eat and you can also eat at the ceviche bar. Now, on to the food. Everything we had was delicious!! I'd highly recommend you start with the Hiramasa ceviche; it's beautiful and tastes great!! I ordered the short rib and the flavors were excellent. We also got the tikin xic (Mahi Mahi) which also was quite enjoyable. You can't go wrong. Plenty of cocktails to choose between and a large variety of mezcals. And the desserts, you just need to try. Went to Nomade with my girlfriend who has an allergy to sulfites which makes eating out very complicated. No canola or veg.oil, no mushrooms, no vinegars, the list goes on and on. Most servers and restaurants tire of the conversation around ingredients while she tries to find items that will work for her. Not Abbie, our bartender/server, nor the manager or chef that all collaborated to make our experience incredible. The open air design feels very Yucatán and we loved getting a thunderstorm while we dinned. The flavors of all the dishes we had were simply incredible. This is not simple food simply prepared. The layers of flavors and complexities of how the flavors compliment the overall dish is pure art. This will be a regular in our rotation and I will tell others with challenging diet restrictions, this is one of those rare places that will work with you and not make you feel judged. read more

My new favorite restaurant in Austin - from their brunch where I experienced the chicken tinga in recado rojo while listening to my husband moan over the panuchos Benedict and the refreshing pineapple punch- like "La Jungla" to their dinner where we marveled at the flavor balance in the soft shell crab tacos and the perfection of the enmoladas de cochinita pibil.... Then my roasted cabbage arrived and I had a religious experience over this plate from the vegan menu that was impossibly delicious. Expertly guided by our waiter - Enzo - who recommended so many amazing dishes for us, we concluded that we are going to be regulars here. Despite oppressive heat the day of our dinner, the outdoor misting fans made us comfortable and gave an air conditioned feel to their outdoor space. Nicely nicely done Nomadé. read more

I was invited to the soft opening of Nomade. I didn't know quite what to expect, and was really pleased. Ambience - really cool, not quite like anything else in Austin. Definitely felt transported to the Yucatan, as though I were staying at a boutique hotel in Tulum or Playa. The feel of the restaurant is really spectacular. Food - even though it was only their second night, food execution was at a high-level. I particularly liked the scallop aguachile, and the tuna ceviche, as well as the pork chop. I would have preferred the octopus to have been a little more charred (still good), and that the pumpkin seed hummus to have a little stronger flavor profile. I really enjoyed the salsas and the tostadas. Also, as the entire menu is gluten free, it made it very easy for one of the guests at our table to enjoy. Drinks - by the time we had gotten there, they had served most of the alcohol (the joys of getting the inventory levels correct, I suppose). We had a very delicious margarita, with lovely tajin around the rim. Additionally, their tequila and mezcal menu is really well curated. I'll be back to sample more alcohol. Service - given that this was their soft opening, I was really pleased by the staff's knowledge of the menu, ability to engage with customers, and mentality. They were genuinely happy to be part of the opening and to help bring the space to life. I'm taking some clients there next week, so I guess that ultimately speaks for itself. read more
