We came for dinner and I think the most impressive part of our experience is the decor/setup of the space. From the outside, it always look like it is closed, however once you enter you will be very impressed with the ambiance. Everyone compares this place to Tulum and I have to concur. The only negative to this setup is that the dining room itself is extremely small with the majority of the restaurant being outdoors which reminds me a lot of Lenoir. If you have a reservation outside and it rains, it's pretty much a wrap. Our party consisted of 3 people and we shared the tostadas with a trio of sauces, the coconut flatbread, scallop agua chile, tuna crudo, pollo asado and the short rib. The agua Chile fell short on flavor while the short rib had so much salt that after a couple of bites, it could no longer be consumed. Our reservations were at 5:45 and due to the fact that they had a full buyout for our space at 8:00, the service became very spotty and we waited for long periods of time while they prepared for the larger group. Our waiter had to be asked twice for almost everything as he kept forgetting small items to include a basic tissue for gum disposal. Around 7:40ish, after waiting 10 minutes for a dessert menu, we were approached by the events coordinator who had the menu in hand, but directed us to seating near the bar. Not only did she not produce the sought after menu, she also neglected to direct us to which part of the bar we should sit, so we chose our own area. We waited another 5-10 minutes for said menu before getting frustrated and just ordered another margarita which was very good. I was not too pleased with the experience and I think our waiter could tell because he apologized and explained that he works at the bar and only stepped in to help due to a staff shortage. I really appreciated him apologizing for the lackluster service and after we chatted with him, things made more sense. Most likely I will give them another chance and if you have not tried Nomade, I suggest you do and form your own opinion. read more

Literally the BEST HAPPY HOUR! Im usually super weary of seafood in Austin but honestly it's so good here. Love the Crudo dishes - Yellowtail Hamachi & the Scallop Crudo are my go-tos! The Scallop Crudo did change (I am not sure if its seasonal) but I have loved both variations, the first was more chopped with apple if I remember right and the current menu has it sliced on top of a citrus supreme in a delicious coconut milk! I have a food allergy unfortunately present in a bit of their dishes but the staff is SO CAREFUL and makes sure I am taken care of! Are you kidding me? We are so spoiled here in ATX. My husband took me to Nomadé tonight for my birthday. He gets to put a notch on his belt for the huge win of a choice, as well as to allow room to expand said belt. We went with the pre fixe menu, always my choice when it's an option - I love when half the thinking is removed from the occasion. Only $60 for a four course menu, and the serving sizes were perfect to borderline more than enough. Service was not just good, but passionate about the menu, the chefs, and the whole idea of the restaurant. A sincerely passionate server can truly make your dining experience. That said, even a terrible server would not have changed how incredibly these dishes were. Every choice was spectacular, but the stars were the scallops crudo, the mushroom enmoladas, and for dessert, both the churros and the coconut flan. Just insane flavors, textures, presentations, everything. Look, I know this sounds hyperbolic, but truly, it has been a while since I have been this thoroughly impressed with every aspect of a dining experience, especially without breaking the bank. I honestly can't think of a negative thing to say. Maybe that the main course was larger and more filling than expected, but too good to leave even a crumb, so we had to slightly overstuff ourselves. We were really looking forward to our dinner yesterday. It was our anniversary and we noted that. Only table that was available was a counter seat.. No problem with that. We sat down. Well -- I tried to! I stepped on a half eaten chicken wing of sorts that was on the ground. I didn't pick it up because I didn't have anything to pick it up with - nor was it my job to. Throughout the entire night, not a single waiter or service worker picked up the wing. I didn't say anything. I was socked that no one paid enough attention to notice or keep the space clean! It was in the same spot as it was when we go there when we left. Clearly we started off on the wrong foot! Moving onto the ambiance. The main and outdoor portion of the restaurant looked beautiful. But then again, we were sat at the "only" and worse spot they had. AC blasting on our heads , by the back door and exit sign and facing the kitchen staff that were awkwardly looking at us while they put premade guacamole in bowls and tuna on the tostadas. The food was mediocre at best for the prices! The coconut "flatbread" was just 3 small pitas with a faint coconut flavor that came with a green sauce that belonged on a steak. Drinks were fine. The crudo was okay. Octopus was cold and burnt. We didn't stay for dessert because of how disappointed we were -- and it's safe to say that our anniversary dinner was nothing special. The ambiance is very exotic yet intimate. There's an outside bar to the left of the entrance. The tables were a little close together but it was comfortable. I had the Jungla cocktail. Super fun vibes at Nomade! Haven't been to anything like it in Austin. I enjoyed our experience here. Staff was attentive and friendly. Our food would and drinks would come out fast. We came for happy hour and had the margaritas, salsa trio, shrimp, and duck tacos, and pork tacos. You can't go wrong with $5 margaritas on happy hour - please keep this going, we love a great happy hour deal! The chips and salsa were good, tacos were great, shrimp was sub par. The waygu tacos off happy hour were great as well. My biggest complaint was the pork belly - it was recommended by our server and it was almost inedible that's how gross it was. It was all fat and the flavors were not hitting the spot. If you look at the imagine of it, it doesn't even look appetizing- it looks like something but dog ate in the garden and puked up later that day with greens sprinkled on top. This place is a must-visit for brunch in Austin! From the service to the food to the charming atmosphere, everything was just perfect. We'd been on the lookout for a great Mexican brunch spot, and this one definitely hit the mark. The service was incredible--everyone was so friendly and attentive. And the food? Absolutely delicious. We tried the Panuchos Benedict, Tacos de Castecán, Churros, mimosa, and French press coffee. The eggs benedict were so good, with a generous amount of meat. Everything was well-seasoned and just flavorful. The pork belly taco was another highlight--super tasty with mango habanero salsa that went perfectly with the pork. The churros for dessert were a win, especially since they came with two sauces: dulce de leche and chocolate. We also ordered the French press coffee, which was served in a big pot with cream. TLDR: interesting food, smaller portions, great decor and vibe I've now been twice to Nomade. Once for happy hour and once for Sunday brunch. Everything is made from masa so no gluten here in the kitchen and it's celiac safe too! I found both menus to be unique and reasonably affordable for seafood. The overall quality is fresh and good but the portions are 10-20% smaller than what I would expect especially since this place is supposed to be a sharing style experience. It makes it a little hard when you only get 2-3 bites out of the some of the dishes when shared between two people. The happy hour experience was flawless but for brunch we ran into a few problems, all of which were solved by the lovely staff. When we ordered for brunch we received our drinks in a timely manner but we were left for over 30 minutes with no food. We ordered everything all at once and that included the tostadas with salsa which should come quickly. Our waiter was also MIA and never checked back. We flagged down the manager who went to check for us and told us our ticket had been misplaced and they were on it immediately. She also explained that the waffle maker for the masa waffles was broken and they would offer us a pancake instead and it was on the house (how nice!). After this problem was resolved we received the rest of our food in a timely manner. One other thing to note is we found a piece of plastic floating in the mimosa so be sure to check your drinks Tostadas with salsa: A great appetizer with a variety of flavors. The guacamole is solid and exactly what you expect. The orange salsa is by far my favorite. Nice and sweet and tastes like a pumpkin puree. We ordered another helping it was so good. The habanero was delicious but incredibly spicy. Only do a little at a time if you can't handle spice well. But it is a natural pepper spice with real flavor. 8.5/10 Scallop Auga Chile: The scallops are good but I have two problems. This dish is very small and shared with my partner we only had about two bites each. This also doesn't have the spice I would expect from an agua chile. It had plenty of avocado but lacked any kind of punch or flavor. 6/10. Huevos Motulenos: I didn't really know what to expect but I don't know if I would get it again. There was only one egg, a couple plantains, and I didn't see any ham which was disappointing. The salsa was delicious but this was mostly a plate of salsa. 5/10 Panuchos Benedict: This is delicious. The chicken wasn't dry and the tortilla was nice and crispy. The hasbrowns were also crispy and delicious. The side salad however was very forgettable and can be skipped. 8/10. Masa Pancake: Usually this is a waffle but since the maker was broken this is what we were given and it was unbelievable! Quite possibly the best pancake I've ever had. This is made by the pastry chef who worked his magic to create this soft, flavorful, and airy delight. The pancake itself wasn't overly sweet so it could be carried by the fruit and syrup. I'm sure if you asked nicely they would make it a pancake instead of a waffle. 10/10 Papas fritas: These were basically Jimmy Dean breakfast potatoes with pickled red onions. Not worth the $9. 2/10 Chocolate tort: The pastry chef works his magic again! I had the churros last time I was here and thought there amazing! Everything is soft, flavorful, and sweet. 10/10. Amazing food and probably on its way to be one of my favorite restaurants in Austin! Parking - we found street parking in the nearby neighborhood on a Friday night no problem. Atmosphere - to die for. You really do feel like you're transported to Tulum. They did not skip any details. Service - incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff. We went on a Friday night and they were packed, service was slow but we didn't mind since the atmosphere was so nice. Drinks - cocktails are creative and have a great presentation. Lots of mezcal and tequila drinks obviously. Food - INCREDIBLE! Don't hold back and be ready to get a handful of dishes. I am vegetarian so I didn't indulge in their fish dishes they are popular for but my friend loved one of the ceviches, the scallops and some other fish dishes. I ordered from the vegan menu: Charred Champanero (amazing!!), cauliflower frita (i wanted more, so good) & the hongos enmoladas verdes as my main - so so good. Our bill for 2 people for 2 drinks, 4 starters and 2 mains was somehow only $150 despite the quality of the food. Easily one of the best new restaurants in Austin. Can't wait to return! read more

We had such a great experience at Nomades for our anniversary and a lot of that was thanks to our server, Ted. He was awesome from start to finish. He really knew the menu and gave us some fantastic tequila recommendations that made the night feel extra special. Ted went out of his way to make sure we were taken care of and added some really thoughtful touches throughout the evening. He made the whole experience feel personal without ever being over the top. An incredible experience from the moment we stepped inside. Our waiter, Enzo, was super knowledgeable about everything on the menu and suggested some of the best entrees and drinks. We started out with some drinks, of course. I highly recommend the K'UK'ULKAN & EL YUCATECAN. I'm a mezcal fan! For apps, we ordered the tuna crudo, oysters and guacamole. Everything was delicious! Came here Sunday night for dinner and this place did not disappoint! Firstly, they have a parking lot behind the restaurant which is great! The decor outdoors is a vibe for sure and they have plenty of heaters which makes dining out there I assume enjoyable. The inside is fairly lackluster to me in comparison (which was shocking), but that's where we dined. It's small and only about 4-5 tables? On to the food: 1. Hiramasa ceviche - ceviche mix itself delicious, fresh and great flavors. The lime white was honestly too overpowering for my liking and could do with wayyyy less of that. 2. Camarones - absolutely delicious. 4 shrimp served with this perfectly citrusy crunchy ensalada on top 3. Charred Pulpo - slightly too chewy however still really great and what was even better was the elote underneath it that I could've eaten all night 4. Short Rib - holy shit. Incredibly tender perfectly falling apart meat and the perfect fat to meat ratio. The poblano mix with the salad was so good with it too. This dish is amazing. 5. Churros - last but not least. Churros were warm and freshly fried to perfection. Wish they had a regular chocolate dipping sauce option but still amazing and kind of them to give on the house for our anniversary. Our server was slightly too pushy for my liking with wanting us to order different things - I get the suggestions once but when you keep doing it it's a little too much for our liking. The tuna tostada was my least favorite item on the menu and was a strange tuna paste? Really disappointing as I've had tuna tostadas that have thick cut tuna with fresh citrus and avocado and vibrant flavors and it's truly amazing. There was no love in this one and the flavor profile was one dimensional and missing all freshness. Was still hungry after spending $90 pp and went to in n out. Everything here was absolutely amazing! There were so many beautiful flavors and we were so pleased with everything we got. This place is like a lot of places now that do shareables so you can order 5 or 6 items and get a perfect portion of each of them. By the time we got to the enmoladas verdes (cochinita pibil dish), we were so stuffed. My favorite by far though was the hiramasa ceviche with an amazing mix of a little spice with the aguachile, sour notes from the limón and sweet with the cucumber and pineapple, it was the perfect dish. The enmoladas verdes were an amazing second though with a variety of flavors and mole verde that was quite honestly out of this world. So good! I finally had the opportunity to come back to Nomade during Austin restaurant week. I sat outside this time and can confirm the fans and mist make the patio perfectly comfortable even in the late Austin summer! What I will say first as the only con is that the portion sizes are a little bit small, so be aware of that. That said, given the regular prices they have and the quality of the food, the four course meal that you're getting for a $60 flat fee (specifically for Austin restaurant week 8/30/24-9/16/24) seems fair to me. You do get to try a lot of different things if you do it, especially if you come with a buddy and share which is what I really appreciate it about it! The service was excellent as always, shout out to Enzo for being helpful :) and they do also have the regular menu available if you want to order things off of that addition to the Austin restaurant week four course menu. I shamefully admit it: I am not a bread-person. I have been battered into submission by the messaging of the nineties about carbohydrates and almost always forgo the bread at the beginning of the meal. HOWEVER, I had to try the coconut bread that showed up on the table, puffier than the Michelin Man and smelling like a a sweet, savory, yeasty treat. BOY HOWDY, I had to toss my anti-bread-person ID card in the bin after one bite of that thing. I could have eaten two orders of that alone and still given the five-star review. I didn't do that though, because everything on the happy hour menu was ordered and I was doing everything I could to keep myself from licking the plates. The scallops were out of this world, the salsas were fresh, tangy, spicy and devoured. In between bites I took the time to look around the restaurant which was beautiful.
