It was the middle of two pandemics. Every other place was closed. My job was to teach online, and my computer was failing me. It would take 20 minutes load a simple application. Doing Zoom lessons for five hours a day was simply an impossibility. I called Andy, he explained what he thought the problem was. I brought in the machine. The level of service that I have gotten from Andy is almost impossible to find naturally occurring in the world any more. I've brought two separate jobs to him, one replacing a hard drive that was beer damaged on a MacBook Pro, and the other one was installing a solid-state drive in my iMac. So good! I needed my MacBook battery changed and Andy was super helpful and so fast at changing. He was very responsive and let me know to order a battery online in advance, which saved me a lot of money and a lot of time. Andy is the man!!!! So, I was actually thrown off by contacting this place in the past because the name was screaming modern corporate high end pricing. Or maybe in my subconscious I was mixing "brave new world" and Mac, Hahahah. But anyway I'm soooooo happy I broke through that mental barrier because now I found a new home!!!! Or should I say a new doctor?? for all my Mac wellness Well yeah I'm a pro editor that is always working from random locations and someone accidentally spilled a cup of coffee onto the back of my MacBook Pro. The liquid went in through the back the and the computer turned off. I left it off for 48 hours and turned it back on, the power on sounds happened and then it just turned back off and was dead dead. I took it to some Mac shop downtown and they were charging me 1600 for the full repair, same exact price as the Mac store. And all said that if it's water damage it's likely I need that specific repair or replacement of whole motherboard. Anyway I decided to try new world Mac as my third and final option. And low and behold Andy looked at it and was like. The board is fine I just turned it on with another battery. we just have to clean all the coffee but it didn't effect the board but we have to replace the battery. He pointed me to the right battery on amazon and I had it mailed to him. He replaced the battery and cleaned my computer entirely inside and out and in total ended up spending around 300$ or so. 2 something for clean up and replacement and like 70 to amazon for battery. Andy flipped my $1600 expense to $300. He could have easily lied and said I needed more things done but he didn't. I'm 76 and have dealt with many service providers in a variety of fields. I'm struggling to remember one that might have impressed me more than Andy, the proprietor of New World Mac. Very fair pricing, excellent communication, guidance and followup, unassuming personality, and in depth knowledge of Apple products thanks to over 25 years in the field the last of which were 10 years with Apple itself before he decided to launch his own repair service. He installed a new 1TB SSD and doubled the RAM in my mid-2011 iMac whose hard drive had died. After getting home and doing my Time Machine restore, I told him that the increased fan noise (due to thermal sensor incompatibility with new SSD) was an issue because that iMac is the music source for my sound system. On top of this, I couldn't find the product key for MS Office 2011 which rendered Word, Excel, and Power Point useless. Andy had a solution for both problems which he quickly resolved during a house call. I highly recommend New World Mac. read more

I brought my MacBook into the Apple store with some food and liquid damage. The gentleman at the Apple store was very kind and cleaned what food & liquid he could from the interior, and told me the charging ports were ruined. He said it would be close to a 1,200 dollar repair, and that I might be better off buying a new computer. He recommended that I try to lie to Apple to get Apple care, because then the repairs would only be around 300 dollars. Instead, I took my MacBook to New World Mac, where after a diagnosis Andy told me that the repair would be around 90 dollars, plus 30 more bucks to clean the air and fan filters if I wanted. Andy was great! I walked in expecting to spend a boatload of money on repairing my MacBook screen. He quoted me what I expected, but went above and beyond by suggesting that I could save some money by purchasing a part off of ebay for half as much as a new one would cost, and bring it to him to install. I did just that and saved 50%. He inspected the part for me before installing it to make sure it was in good condition. He even called me a few hours later to tell me it was done. Yesterday, due to unfortunate placement and a clumsy elbow, my baby (my 2013 MacBook Pro) experienced a disastrous two-foot fall from my bed. There were no external injuries, but alas, when I opened her up, her display had the black screen of doom. She would not wake up. Panicked, I called Apple Support in hopes of fixing her. They instructed me to perform CPR (rebooting), but despite the starting chime, she showed no signs of life. Desperate, I booked an in-person appointment at Los Feliz Hi-Tech to check her vital signs IRL. When I arrived today, the tech person quickly tried rebooting her again, but it did not work. She seemed comatose. He then instructed that it would be $150 for JUST a diagnosis, plus whatever it would be to actually fix it when they figured out what the problem was. He also mentioned that it was probably the screen, which would be $450+ to replace...so I was looking at a total of $600+ and it would take 2-3 days. I was devastated, but reluctant at paying the outstanding fee. Furthermore, I noticed that Los Feliz Hi-Tech's pricing screen stated that a diagnosis was $130, not $150, which made me skeptical. I then pulled up Yelp to read their reviews and saw that one person (thanks Megan R., whoever you are!) recommended New World Mac instead. I promptly left Hi-Tech carrying my baby and called to confirm that New World Mac charged NOTHING for a diagnosis. I drove straight there where I met Andy, the owner and fearless lone wolf of New World Mac. He took my information, said he'd take great care of my baby, and that he would call me if he thought he could revive her before close (it was around 5:30pm at this point). He called me about 30 minutes later, saying he found the problem (a loose cable) and she would be awake before 7pm. I drove straight back to the store and sure enough, MY BABY WAS RESURRECTED FROM THE DEAD! What was more, Andy had noticed some of my baby's keys were a little worse for wear and replaced them at no cost! He gave her a gentle clean and POOF! she looked back from the dead and better than ever! He even gave me a Blue Star donut because another pleased customer had come in with a box as a gift for him. All in all, I spent LESS total than the $150 diagnosis fee that Los Feliz Hi-Tech was trying to charge, and got my baby back in mint condition within AN HOUR. Plus a donut. In all seriousness, Andy is the sweetest and gave the most phenomenal customer service EVER. Just from this one experience, he will have a loyal client for all computer needs in the days to come.
