The highlight of my week was meeting Jeffrey and getting my laptop repaired. He did such a fantastic job and quickly, at an incredibly fair price. I have read the one star reviews (which are very few compared to his glowing reviews, btw) and I think some people just have a sense of entitlement to how they think customer service or presentation should be in places where they don't set the rules. They are probably written by the same people that question seating policies in restaurants that have been in business since before they were born. Bottom line is, Jeffrey knows his stuff and he is a character. When you are an expert in something, why waste time explaining your decades of knowledge to someone when you can just cut the fat? (He does explain, btw, but I think most people can't keep up with his knowledge) He asks direct questions because he is trying to quickly and concisely determine what is NOT the issue so he can better diagnose the solution. I wish more people talked like he does. And to anyone that criticized his office, you have probably never been in a workshop before. No frills, no BS, no reason to fluff it up just to make you feel something. It's engineering. I looked at other places nearby with flashy photographs of celebrities next to them and awards on the walls and the prices they charged... Most likely you would be charged like a celebrity and put on a wait list and asked to return later in the week, if at all. I'd much rather go to the genius in his workshop who isn't concerned with such meaningless aesthetics any day. Thank you , Jeffrey - you saved the day and I can get back to work with my files and I saved thousands on what I thought I'd have to spend to get a new computer. I'd happily recommend everyone to Jeffrey for their computer repair needs. read more

Jeffrey is the best most honest computer repairman out there! If you want your computer fixed the right way and for a fair price go see him! He's the best! read more

I highly recommend Jeff from A1 Computer repair!! He's super knowledgeable and extremely a hoot to be around. Really lived his honesty and easy going approach to computer repair. No BS hidden fees for looking at your items and if it can't be repaired he'll give you the news straight up and won't try to work ya into fixing it. Jeff's prices are extremely reasonable and like I said if he can't fix it then he's not gonna force you into a corner to "try and fix something that can't be fixed." Definitely not like some of these other companies that wanna hose you with some BS about, "let us give it a deep dive but that'll cost you?" He's also extremely talented on guitar ask him to show you!! read more

Jeffery is the best. Most honest, smart and no BS, affordable computer person I have ever met. His office is shady and grim, but make no mistake, Jeffery is a superstar. read more

Great...GREAT SERVICE. Jeffrey is knowledgabe, reasonable, on time, personable and HONEST. Best experience I've had with computer repair.

Jeff at A-1 Computer is an upstanding and truly generous gentleman. I left a voicemail in regards to copying a folder onto a flash drive. Other businesses on Yelp requested $125 to $185 per hour to help me out. Jeff not only didn't request a fee, he just told me how to easily place the folder on the thumb drive while replying via phone to my voicemail. It was totally unexpected and unbelievably thoughtful on his part. Not one other computer business owner offered that the task was undeniably simple. If they didn't provide the service, they mentioned a fee that was almost extortion. I am so glad that Jeff responded to my call for help. By proving his honesty, I plan to always go straight to A-1 with all my computer needs. Jeff is not only top notch but a gentleman. read more

Jeffrey has a great deal of experience and cares about the people he is helping and does so at a very reasonable rate! He will solve your problem and you will be happy you found his business! Thank you, Jeffrey, once again for taking care of my issue with my desktop computer. I have sound and can use my speakers again! Yay! read more

Came in today asking for a printer repair. Not only was the owner super rude, he was incredibly condescending. He had told me that the printer was dead either because of an electrical shock, or that the cartridge was blocked because the printer was idle. I knew for sure the cartridges were not blocked because the printer stopped working PRIOR to sitting idle and I even replaced them right then and there. When I told him that, he literally asked me "Why is it such that when I ask you how long you left it idle you can't give me a straight answer?" Word for word. Seriously, who talks to their customers like that? I get annoyed and I leave, and he goes, "what you don't believe me?" and proceeds to go on a condescending rant about how I'm better off buying a new printer than repairing this one in front of another customer. Look, I'm not saying his advice is wrong. Yes, I'm going to buy a new printer, but his delivery is so downright unprofessional and rude. Just don't bother with this place. read more

Great guy, great service. Will definitely come back and give as much refferals as I can

Jeffrey G. is the best, I've taken the impossible to him and he saved my data, fixed the mess inside my PC, plus more, he cleans up the mess I make by pushing the keys to the tune of "I can do this if I just watch the videos and read the manuel." Duh wrong, give it to Jeffrey, and be at peace, He is a good man, fair in his prices and worth every $ I pay him. Due to the shortage of coins, I can't say penny...Ask him to play his video while on stage playing guitar...amazing, a great friendship we have together and I appreciate our conversations, that he answers every question I have, a brilliant humble honorable man, a treasure source for me to keep my sanity when I need my computer working and it isn't. Thank you Jeffrey, love Angeltompkins, Golden Globe Nominee, writer with two thumbs on the keyboard. Bless you. read more

A1 was able to help and get my computer back up and running in a short amount time during a time crunch on a time sensitive project at work. If your having issues with your computer he is the man to call. I am very satisfied with the service and work. read more

I should've written this review many months ago because that's when we used A-1. Jefferey had come out to do a service call for our business computer. It turned out to be such a simple thing, yet he took the time to go through the process with us. He never made us feel inadequate in our lack of computer literacy. Because of this first experience we called him again months later when one of our laptops quit working. Since this second time was less urgent & more complex, we left the laptop with him. He got it up & running, finishing it in the time he had said he needed & charging exactly what he had quoted. He has saved our business day & revived our laptop. Plus, his prices are fair. If we have future computer needs -- & I suspect we will -- Jefferey is the man we're going to call first. read more

This guy. The only reason I put one star instead of none is because 1. I can't put 0 stars. 2. he had a little bit of humor. He was so rude though as many other people have said. Unprofessional and doesn't know a single thing about new gaming PCs. The office Is just a small room and it looks like it hasn't changed since the 90s. Hasn't been cleaned since then either. Waste of time. But his personality was so absurd that I had to laugh. At least I got a laugh out of it. Come to this place if you have a PC from the 90s and can handle a projecting bitter boomer. No hate tho read more

Same day MacBook repair, great job and best prices I found. Highly recommended!

Jeff is so kind. I called to have him take apart a PC build for me, something others quoted me at 2-300$ and he did it for so much cheaper and took me in right away. Also he rips at guitar which is just a bonus lol read more

I cannot recommend Jeff enough. I'd rather have my things repaired to a good business and not some giant corporate place. Jeff fixed my Mac in record time and has a great personality to boot. Two thumbs up. read more

garbage service. liar. i posted an honest review and owner lied. I was never crude. conversation happened exactly as i posted.

Came to this guy with a damaged laptop key. He almost instantly decided I needed to have the entire keyboard ripped out and started trying to order parts off the Internet all while cursing and grumbling to himself. Extremely rude and giving off a slightly "Doc Brown but with a fraction of the knowledge" vibe, he was also a full on jerk during a follow up call. Surprise, when I took the computer for a second opinion to another shop, they were able to fix it for a fraction of the amount this guy was going to charge me ($25 vs. $200) and with no long wait or intensive labor. Not sure if he was trying to upsell me or he's just an idiot, but run, do not walk, somewhere else if you need repairs done in NoHo. read more

Jeffery is amazing, honest fair and fast! I can recommend him more highly. Spilled some sauce on my MacBook Pro, thought it was dead, and Jeffery with the skill of a surgeon brought it back to life! I think he can basically fix anything. He charged me 80 bucks, a small price to pay when your life is your computer. The same day turnaround was also a great thing. If you have any computer problems go to A1, he is the best! read more

Resonable prices, good quality of work, and pretty quick turnaround times for work done on laptop. Would recommend.

I have only the highest praise, for this establishment. I was looking for my first computer and Jeff the owner, went outta his way and looked online for the best bargin. He gave me his recommendation, and I bought a new laptop and printer. I had him load all the necessary programs into my computer. It has worked flawlessly for over 1 year. Well, the other day I had a problem getting my computer to run a program! I'm still new to this computer stuff and I needed help! I didn't know what to do, and how to get it to work! I called up A-1 computer repair. I told Jeff my problem, and he took the time to help me over the phone! He walked me thru the steps, right click, left click, step by step over the phone. I am really greatful, to have found such a reputable place. read more

I found A-1 through a yelp search. I had a problem with an old desktop. It kept randomly turning on and off, often just a few minutes after being on. I needed to upgrade to a new desktop (the old was is an HP Pavilion a810n from 2004), and did buy a new desktop, but was having trouble having the old one stay on long enough to transfer my files to the new computer. I spoke with Jeff over the phone. Based on the symptoms I described to him, he gave me his opinion as to what the causes might be. I took the unit in. After chatting a little bit and giving him more information about what was going on, he clearly laid out the cost based on the severity of the problems he may encounter. He advised me to leave the unit, so he could do diagnostics on it and come back in 40 mins. I grabbed some lunch and came back. He told me the issue was a failing power supply. He put in a reconditioned power supply. The total cost for labor, the part, and his time was only $45! He also spent a lot of time answering my questions about data transfer and other questions I had. Jeff was very patient in listening to my questions and problems, and providing no-nonsense answers. He's gets right to the point and will pepper you with questions to determine exactly what is the problem you're experiencing. He's a straight shooter and a mensch. God, I wish there were more professionals like him in the world! Also, don't be put-off or mislead by his office -- it's small, but his service is impeccable! I'm giving him 5 stars -- he hit a home run on all levels of customer service. I don't know if he works on MACs or not, you can call and ask. For PC owners, I heartily recommend him! read more

I called Jeff asking if he could repair my printer. I told him what kind it was and he straight off told me it would be cheaper just to replace the printer I have had for three years. It would not be worth the cost to repair it. I really appreciated his honesty. Clint Lohr, Keller Williams Los Feliz. read more

5 stars for Jeff. This is the guy you want digging through your hardware. No pun intended. Truthfully he should get 6 out of 5 stars because this guy is pretty damn special. He will easily fix your computer at a fair and honest rate, which as a repair guy is the gold standard of work ethic in my book. He fixed my laptop that had a failed HD, gave me an operating system upgrade and took the necessary time to do it right. He guarantee's his work. He will also regal you, if you want, with stories of LA back in the 1980's from the celebrities whom he waited on to his brief time as a chippendale, to his multiple brushes with death doing recon in SE Asia and his experience surviving cancer. This guy is a gem and his small business deserve to be supported. Thanks again Jeff. read more

My laptop keyboard went on the fritz, making typing impossible. Best Buy wanted to charge me $300 bucks just to DIAGNOSE the problem. And it would take 10 days. I called Jeffrey based on his Yelp reviews. He diagnosed the problem, offered to order me a new keyboard and install it into my laptop (which on my Asus is no small task) all for $150. When the part arrived he made all the repairs in less than a day. The following week, when I noticed my new space bar key was sticking, I brought it back to Jeffrey and he fixed the key for no additional charge. Now my laptop is back to working good as new. I highly recommend him for your computer repair needs and I will definitely going back to him in the future. read more

This is the place to go in North Hollywood! Jeff is a honest guy and will tell you exactly what the problem is with your device. He is affordable and reliable. He is NOT a SCAMMER like alot of them. This is the absolute best place to take your computer. The owner is so knowledgeable, down to earth, and friendly. He really hooked me up with the best deal I could find on a DC jack repair. I called three other places and the lowest I found for DC jack repair, and the next lowest was $120. A-1 charged $85 with parts and labor. Pretty sweet! I hung around for a bit while the repair was being done (which he did on the spot), and Jeff rocked the guitar afterwards, which was pretty awesome read more

I've used Jeffrey G for almost a decade, and he's always been fast, efficient and affordable (also no BS about him, something rare and much appreciated). A friend at a TV show production office originally referred him, and he's become the only one I've used since (and I've referred manyothers to him, as well). My favorite story about Jeffrey is when I dropped off my much-needed work CPU at his place because it wouldn't boot -- he called me ten minutes after I got back to the office to let me know it was fixed. I've trusted Jeffrey with numerous work and personal computers, and appreciate his knowledge and expertise. Give him a try, you won't be disappointed. read more

I've been the user of excellent technology staff support while with top tier IT consulting firms. Being so spoiled, I was nervous about going to a public support shop for my personal needs. Well, not only was A-1 just as good, A-1 was better. I tried to diagnose issues via the Microsoft and Toshiba support forums and there were no answers. I burned lots of hours and grew increasingly frustrated at myself and the software vendors. I should have gone to A-1 straight away. A-1 solved mine in one day and followed up with another issue (in the forums but unanswered) resolution via phone in 10 seconds! Jeffrey knows his stuff and gets results. Thanks man, you're awesome! read more

Jeff is the most honest and friendly guy in the biz. If you have a junker not worth fixing, he will tell you. Just be accountable to your appointment and be on time.
