My laptop told me the fan was broken (a warning came up on my screen). I took it to Geek Squad at Best Buy. They told me if I signed up for their annual membership, they'd diagnose it and fix it. I told them at the time it was the fan, per the pop up message. I went to get it a week later, and they told me it was the fan and they don't fix fans. All that money for nothing. Took it to LAPC and they fixed it in 2 days for half the price. Great customer service, honest and open about the price up front. I will only be going to them from here on out. My computer was constantly freezing and not booting up and after troubleshooting for hours myself, I decided to contact LAPC. I dropped my PC off and was quoted a diagnostic fee of $50 (can't remember 100%) and was told they'll get back to me before end of day. Elijah the technician called me the following day letting me know they started on my PC and that I needed a new motherboard. I quickly purchased a replacement and dropped it off the next day. After about a day I got a call from Elijah who said after further testing it was a CPU problem not motherboard. I purchased a new CPU and dropped it off the next day along with a new CPU cooler. After 2 days, I got a call from Elijah letting me know my PC was going to be done in an hour. I dropped by and Elijah showed me everything he did (including great cable management) and booted up the PC in front of me. I paid $600 to have my phone fully repaired, and then the replacement screen that I paid HIM to install was faulty. There is no physical damage to my phone, as he alleges. The bottom line is: this business does not honor their written warranty. Unfortunately, Visa will need to review this incident with their Disputes Team. Seeing the owner fight negative reviews on here probably means this will get a response. And I hope it does. I got my laptop battery replaced last October to the tune of about $150. For the past month, my computer (even with full charge) has been shutting down if it's not plugged in. When I called them to see if the battery might have been faulty, they said that I was out of the 6mo warranty so there was nothing they could do, and that laptop batteries last between 1-3 years. And if I wanted, I could come in and get charged for another service for another part that would last approximately the same amount of time for the same with the same laughable warranty. Laptop batteries do not have a maximum shelf life of 3 years, that's their minimum. Most hardware, even if it is plugged in excessively (which mine was not) last anywhere from 3-5 years. And a 6mo warranty is a slap in the face for a product that WILL fail two years before it should. If they would like to challenge me on this assertion, I will gladly have them talk to my various friends and family who work in the IT field. Now, on the day I was there, the staff were helpful and professional, and the job was done quickly. That's the only reason this is getting 2 stars instead of 1. I will not be returning. If you have a faulty battery, find somewhere else to go. read more
