I came in to the new location and the guy quoted me 50 dollars to fix one of the arrow keys on my macbook pro. When i came to pick the computer he said he couldn't fix the functionality of the actual button to work again but still charged me the same 50 bucks?!?!? If he couldn't fix it and it was just a cosmetic not a functional repair shouldn't it be free since you couldn't do what you promised? So happy, I found this guy!!! I originally took my MacBook to Mac Pro LA. My computer has only been used about 10 times and it's brand new. However, I accidentally set something on top of it and broke my trackpad. Mac Pro LA told me that my logic board needed to be replaced along with my trackpad and it would cost $400. Something didn't feel right, why would a logic board need to be replaced on a brand new computer that's been used 10 times. I declined to have them fix it and took my MacBook to Mac Horizon. The gentleman did the work in front of me and showed me there's absolutely NOTHING WRONG with my logic board. He said I could replace my entire trackpad for $200. He then showed me a temporary fix with a external mouse that cost me $20 bucks. I was in and out so quick that he waved the $39 fee to assess the problem. I was getting a warning message that my battery was significantly reduced and needed to be serviced. This came after 5 years of owning my MacBook so I knew it was time to replace the battery. I bought a new battery from Newegg and paid them $95 to install the new battery into my MacBook. 6 months later, I'm getting the same warning message as before. This shouldn't happen for a brand new battery considering my last battery lasted 5 years! I have no way of knowing for sure they installed the new battery I gave them, but since this battery has only lasted 6 months, I doubt it. I do not recommend this place. read more

My old mid2012 MacBook Pro needed a new battery. I checked several places which all seemed capable but completion time varied. I'd been to Darwin before to fix my laptop, and he was well priced with a very quick turnaround... so he was my first stop when my iPad broke. To my surprise, he suggested it would be cheaper to take it right to Apple as they would cover any issues that may arise during a repair (the screens break easily when taken apart). I took his advice, and even though my warrantee had expired, Apple ended up giving me a free replacement as the iPad was completely dead after only a few years of use. I am so grateful Darwin didn't try make take my money and run... would have cost a fortune to repair, and most likely would have ended up having to purchase a new iPad as there wouldn't have been much of a price difference. I took my MacBook Pro to this location after being locked out of it due to Apple ID issues. The manager was kind enough to help me out by resetting it. After we were done he said that will be $39, I looked at him shocked and he politely said, "Just Kidding". I was great full that he took the 10 minutes out if his schedule to help me out for Free. I have a 2009 Macbook Pro with a battery that exploded on the inside and it caused my trackpad to protrude. Not wanting to replace my laptop since it's my first one ever and contains a lot of memory, I bought an extra battery replacement as I wanted to attempt to replace the battery myself. I was able to take the back cover off, but in attempting to take the battery screws out, they ended up getting completely stripped, so it was basically impossible to take it out on my own. I knew I needed to get professional help with this issue if I wanted to save my laptop at all, so I inquired through Yelp to over 5 or more different nearby electronic places regarding my issue. Ideally, I was looking for something affordable that would not break the bank, since I was really only looking for a shop to take out the screws, and then I would replace the battery myself. However, most shops charged up the butt for labor and would not give me reassurance that they could even get the screws out or that they had replacement screws for my laptop model for that matter. When I contacted MacHorizon, Madhur (the owner) gave me a straight forward answer to say that they could get the job done (get the screws out) and that they also had replacement screws. While I understood, labor can be contingent on the time spent on the job as well as how tough the job is, he quoted me a fair price that I was much happier with compared to most shops with labor usually being ~$45. Walked into the store without an appointment and the shop was tiny and filled with a bunch of what I assume are refurbished Macs. In any case, they were able to get my old laptop battery out and even offered to replace my battery and RAM on the spot (I bought both parts separately since I planned to replace those parts in my MacBook Pro on my own before I stripped the screws). I figured having them do it would be the wiser decision considering the luck I've been having with the darn thing myself. Once Madhur replaced the old stripped screws with new ones after installing my new battery and RAM pieces, he made sure to check that my new battery was charging correctly, which was great. All in all, it's been some time since my last visit, but I wanted to be sure to let the Yelpers know that my impressions of this shop was nothing short of excellent. It was a Saturday afternoon in the middle of a lockdown pandemic. Most businesses were closed anyway given the circumstances. I haphazardly hit some keys that resulted in a "black screen" on my MacBook Pro. I could not recover the screen no matter how many times I rebooted. I contacted MacHorizon thru the Yelp request feature. Mr. Madhur M. responded within 10 minutes with exact instructions on how to restore my screen. Here's an update. It's the best place in LA to take your Mac -- bar none. I went through another tech headache last week -- Apple (under)sold me a i-Mac that didn't have enough RAM and I spent a full day trying to get Avid to work and migrate files over only to realize I didn't have enough RAM (they sold me a 8gb when I thought I was getting 16 -- fun!). So then I returned the i-Mac and got a MacBook Pro, M1... BUT this time I wasn't playing around and headed straight to MacHorizon where they migrated all my files and installed Avid (which, if you're on Monterey, has a glitch w installation -- of course -- so Mac H worked through that). MacHorizon is simply the best -- save yourself the headache of migration and installing complicated software, and head to them -- the turnaround is always reasonable, 24-48 hours. I can not recommend them enough as you can see! read more

This is as indie as it goes for a repair shop. My MacBook Pro basically exploded. I was terrified of testing it to see if it still turned on to back it up. This place had changed my charging wiring for 70% less than Apple quoted me before. I took it in, asking if it was something repairable and they looked at it like it wasn't the first or the last like this. With that being said, I have my laptop back and it works 10x better than it did before my battery exploded and ruined everything else. I'm so happy with them for taking care of my laptop like it was theirs. The prices are ridiculously cheap if you want someone trustworthy handling your computers. I use my laptop for editing, so thinking I'd have to spend 1-2k for a new one and only having spent $200.... I am more than happy. Go to apple before coming here if it's your first time, this way you can see how much you're actually saving and you get to walk out happier than expected. They also have tons of macs and towers for sell at reasonable prices if you care to shop for something at half price. read more

I went here based on the reviews and couldn't be more unhappy with their service and attitude. My laptop is now a brick as well. I called ahead and mentioned that my laptop (2015 MacBook Pro 15") had been shutting down inadvertently and that I believe based on the computer's diagnostic (opening up the app that shows the battery's health, etc). I brought it in, explained to the man working the counter again what the issue was and showed him the computer--how it turned off after a few minutes. He said it would take a few hours, once they got a battery in the next day. Tomorrow came and I called to ask what the progress was: "oh the battery hasn't arrived." I was frustrated and said I took it to them because they were the only Mac service store that said it would be next-day. Then he said "hold on....yeah ok come at 5:30pm." This is where I should've been concerned. I showed up that evening, paid and took the computer home. It worked for a half hour then shut down again. I returned the next afternoon and the technician (who was very rude) claimed I never told them that it shut down, only that I wanted the battery replaced. Luckily the man at the counter dismissed this and said I DID in fact mention the shut down issue. They took it and said it would only be a few hours. I returned and the computer was in when they gave it to me--claiming they had replaced the battery again. I later realized this was a lie, checking the battery's health and info again in the app. The computer shut down after 30 minutes, with 29% power left, and then wouldn't even boot up anymore. I decided to then take it to the Genius Bar at the Apple Store. After being looked after by the service tech for less than five minutes they came back and said: "The battery was installed improperly and the hard drive has been damaged. They either didn't finish their job or did a poor job." The computer WORKED well enough to run photoshop 2020 and Davinci Resolve, and now couldn't even start up. Bottom line, I had a horrible experience and am shocked that a business they told me had been around for over a decade, botched a battery replacement and bricked my computer. I prefer the "mom and pop" stores and like to support them--but then there are those that are obviously not qualified or don't care to do a good job, just like a shady auto mechanic. I hope people learn to avoid this shop like the plague. read more

I had a problem with my MacBook Pro password. I called MacHorizon, stopped in and left my laptop with them while I went to Fat Sal's for lunch. I returned and my laptop was ready. The price they charged was reasonable. Once home I wasn't sure about something so I returned the following morning, and they were able to quickly educate me about the changes to my laptop's desktop (no charge).
