The best thing I can say about this place was the view and the friendly staff. You are definitely paying for the location, which is what we expected. My husband, 20 month, and I knew we would be paying little more going here than we would normally spend. But being locals we had never been there and thought since it wasn't crowded we would try it out. We went for breakfast and spent about $50 for the two of us. I wouldn't say the breakfast was worth $50, but it wasn't bad. The space is small so you sit rather close to other tables, which we didn't mind. What we minded was the table of college girls next to us talking very loud, dropping F bombs. I know that's not the restaurant's fault, but wanted to mention you do sit close to other tables so there is a chance of hearing other people's conversations if they are on the louder side. The thing I did have a problem with was the lack of attention by our waitress. We are not needy customers, but do expect a minimal standard of service. We were served promptly, but when my husband was asked if he would like his coffee topped off, the waitress never returned to refill his cup. After we finished our meal, we sat for about 20 minutes waiting for our check. That is a lot of time to fill when you have a 1 year old that is ready to get out of her high chair. We also asked for a box to go, which we never got. I ended up finding one and getting it myself. I guess I just had higher expectations for the price we paid. read more

First of all, parking is free on Sunday's. Don't make the same mistake I did. As much as I want to say this place was over-the-top awesome, all I can say is...eh. It started out on the wrong foot as our server has no clue we were seated in her section. Did I mention she walked past us 4 times before being told we were her table? We were lucky enough to find immediate seating on the porch in the fresh air for breakfast. Parking on the street is limited and metered. Our visit took about an hour ($2 for 90min parking). The atmosphere is classy-casual (I was fine in shorts & flip-flops, but I wouldn't have gone there dressed in my jammies); adults would enjoy, hipsters would tolerate, small children might fidget. My husband had bacon, eggs, home fries, and fresh OJ. Toast would have been an added side order, had he wanted it. $9 I had a "Hemingway." What's a Hemingway? (There's a punchline in there somewhere, no?) A Hemingway is a toasted English muffin topped with smoked salmon, eggs Benedict, red onion, and capers, served with a lemon wedge garnish and home fries. It was amazing. We have a pet, that is why we chose Nero's. When we went there at 9:30am in the morning, we were the first in the line, and they said there is 25 minutes wait time. After 25 minutes, they said there will be another 20 minutes waiting time because they need to serve the hotel customers first. Many sitting customers were alao complaining for wait times. We left Nero's. They should have told at the beginning that their first priority is hotel customers, and there.may be longer waiting times. read more

This cafe deserves 4 stars for their service & view. The food was very underwhelming & disappointing. My husband & I ordered the fried shrimp which was $16 that we would share. On the menu it says it came with 9 shrimp, but we actually only received 8. I wouldn't have noticed if it weren't for my husband paying attention. I'm not that type of person at all to make a big deal, but I had to say something given what this cafe tries to show for. Our lovely waiter brought us 3 extra shrimp to compensate, however we had to ask for cocktail & tartar (which they were out of tartar) & the cocktail sauce was not enough for us both to share. My husband I had brunch here on a Sunday morning. It didn't look exceptionally busy and we saw a couple of empty tables so we figured it couldn't be too busy. So we found the hostess and put our name down for a table and we were told it would be about a 10 minute wait. We were seated in about that time. However, it took quite awhile before a server actually came to our table. Finally another host came and took our drink orders. Right after, a server came over and told us he'd be taking care of us. A few minutes later, a different server came to our table and ended up being our server for the remainder of our time. Just very disorganized. Once we got our first round of mimosas, we didn't have to wait long for the rest of our drinks. The food also was served in a timely manner. Getting the check took awhile though. The mimosas were fine. You can't really mess up champagne and OJ. I ordered an omelette. It was fine but nothing to write home about. My husband had the brunch wrap which was good. Overall the food was ok, not memorable. The service was decent once we finally got a server. The best thing was the view. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed the view of the fort and the water. However, If I am ever in St. Augustine again, I'd probably try somewhere different next time. read more

The ambience is great with good people watching from the patio. The food is occasionally mislabeled (example, the hash is actually just corned beef; so ask for a steak knife). It takes a little longer to get service. Expect 30 minutes to get water. A hour for your food to come out, and it may come out cool. And your appetizers may come out at the end, instead of the beginning. But knowing that in advance makes the experience kind of fun. read more

Had a Sam Adams Boston Lager on a hot afternoon. It was cold and served with a glass. My partner ordered ice tea. It was served in an 8 oz. plastic cup with a small anemic lemon slice. The few ice cubes disappeared in about two minutes. As we turned our eyes from the expansive water view we began to notice how dirty and neglected the porch we were eating on was. Right next to our table the column base was filthy with leaves and dirt. The bottom of the door across from us was splattered with dirt. The raised gas heaters at either end had a thick layer of dirt on the shelf and the floor below. The silverware had water spots. The side house salad was not large but the greens were crisp. The dressing they brought was ranch BUT we had ordered vinagarette. Tuna salad was a rather off color with an onion overtone. Pita with it was thick and flavorless. First impression given the long wait to get in was that this would be a restaurant to remember. I was right.. but not for the right reasons. Our table for 4 was next to multiple ice machines from which the bar back was constantly filling buckets. Saw things not one customer should see while dining (broom & dustpan, ladder, waiters smoking) Only 3 tables in whole restaurant, rest is outdoor seating. Definitely suggest outdoor to avoid a bad experience. Why? Because the food is and will remain the only thing keeping this business operating. Message to owner: keep your chefs. Cheese forgotten to be added to my omelette, cheese on my wife's breakfast bowl was cold an unmelted and she had a hair in her biscuit! They forgot a few additional items we ordered. After asking for a manger and making him aware of the issues and said he would take care of it. New food came out and our missing sides appeared but the overall service remained terrible. Our check was taken care of but really disappointed in the quality of service. The food was good but I would just stay away from this place. A lot of better options out there! read more

As the already low rating for this restaurant would imply, there is a great deal of room for improvement. First off, and most importantly, the service is a big problem. Right from the start it felt like we were an unwanted intrusion on the server's morning. Only as she was dropping off the bill did she show any sign of interest. She walked away before I could finish ordering and never once asked if I want a refill on the coffee, though the cup sat empty for the entire meal. The food was also a tremendous disappointment. They were out of both of my first two choices, which you only learn from this very helpful waitress after you spend time trying to pick the second choice. The omelette I did get was a thin, rubbery, and tasteless waste of eggs with eggshell pieces throughout. There are a lot of great places to eat in this wonderful town, and while the view is nice, little else is at this establishment. I'd give it a pass if I was you. read more
